This book definitely could have used a round or two more of editing just to catch name misplacements and scene details that didn’t fully make sense.
The story itself was entertaining, but predictable while still shouting “gotcha!” in your face as if you didn’t see the ending coming from a mile away 😭

“Clear Creek Nightmare” by Elisa D. Daniels is a fantastic addition to the My Bloody Camping Collection. Set in the 80’s, this short slasher horror story delivers plenty of tension, chills, and creepy atmosphere in a quick read. I was hooked from the beginning. The story is intense, unsettling, and captures that classic slasher vibe perfectly.
If you enjoy campfire horror, 80s slasher nostalgia, and fast-paced scares, this series is definitely worth picking up!

Another fantastic read from Elisa! At this point, she has become one of those authors whose books I will pick up without even reading the synopsis. Every time I finish one of her stories, I'm reminded why she's an automatic must-read for me.
What starts as a Memorial Day weekend camping trip with friends quickly turns into something much more sinister. The idea of spending a holiday weekend outdoors, reconnecting with old friends, making new memories, and maybe even meeting some new people sounds like the perfect getaway. Of course, things don't stay relaxing for long, and that's exactly what made this book so entertaining.
One of my favorite things about this story was the setting. Taking place in the 1980s, it immediately gave me all the nostalgic vibes of classic summer camp horror movies. I could practically picture the grainy VHS version playing on a late-night television marathon. The atmosphere felt straight out of the golden age of slasher films, with the isolated campground, the growing sense of unease, and the feeling that danger could be lurking just beyond the trees.
Elisa did a wonderful job building tension and keeping me invested in the characters. The friendships felt authentic, which made the suspense even more effective because I genuinely cared about what happened to everyone. As the story unfolded, I found myself constantly questioning who was safe, who could be trusted, and what might happen next.
The combination of creepy atmosphere, nostalgic 80s horror vibes, and nonstop suspense made this a book I didn't want to put down. If you're a fan of classic camp slashers, eerie campgrounds, and stories that capture that perfect blend of fun and fear, this one is definitely worth picking up. It absolutely made my little black horror-loving heart happy.

You know those horror movies where a bunch of friends decide that getting drunk in the middle of nowhere is a brilliant life choice? Yeah… this is exactly that. And I mean that as the highest compliment.
I loved the cover, I loved the story, and I had an absolute blast with it.
A group of friends, a camping trip, booze, a bonfire, good music, and absolutely zero survival instincts. Then they meet some attractive strangers who invite them to another bonfire. Because if horror movies have taught us anything, it’s that accepting invitations from random hot people in the woods always ends well… right?
Wrong.
This is a fast-paced, old-school slasher that doesn’t pretend to be anything else. It knows exactly what it is: a bloody, run-for-your-life camping massacre packed with all the ingredients that make slashers so ridiculously entertaining. You’ve got the creepy woods, the questionable decisions, the rising body count, and of course… the final girl. Because some traditions should never die. Unlike everyone else.
Reading this honestly felt like being thrown back to those Friday nights when you’d shove a VHS horror movie into the player, grab way too much junk food, and spend the evening yelling at the TV because nobody ever thinks, “Maybe we shouldn’t split up.”
Five stars from me because sometimes you don’t need a complicated plot. Sometimes you just want a fun, bloody camping murder fest that reminds you why horror is so much fun in the first place. And this delivered exactly that.

An all girls Memorial Day trip to Clear Creek starts off as a blast with peach wine coolers, a trip to the lake, and a bonfire with some potentially fun one night stands. But Zoey soon discovers that she can't trust everyone and the night begins to go horribly wrong.
I love how the book starts off with a bit of the ending, this is one of my favorite little additions in horror books. I'd say this one is the most graphic of the three in the collection, but I think it works well to fit into the slasher subgenre. The characters fit well into their tropes, and all of the male characters drove me absolutely nuts (like they were kinda awful humans) - this just made me cheer for Zoey even more.
I'd love a bit more about the connection of the previous killings and the ones that happened in the book during present day, as I think the time difference of the killings now vs. before doesn't quite line up for them to be the same person. Overall this was a fun fast-paced read to end off summer!

Clear Creek Nightmare had me completely on the edge of my seat. Every time I thought I had things figured out, another twist made me question everything all over again. One thing about Elisa’s books is that I never trust any of the characters, and this one was no different. Everyone felt suspicious in some way, which made the tension so much stronger.
If you love thrillers that keep you guessing and make you suspicious of everyone, this book absolutely delivers.

This book was so good! I could have easily finished it in one sitting but life happened and I read it in 2 days! This was my first book by this author and I will definitely be checking more of her books out! The only thing that bothered me a bit with this one, was that the different povs didn't really match up. They'd back up a bit and then wouldn't end up where the last one ended. I know it sounds confusing cuz I can't explain it correctly. Would I re-read this book? Prolly not. Would I recommend it? Absolutely!

I just finished 'Clear Creek Nightmare" by Elisa Daniels , and it was so good! I am giving it a full 5 ⭐.
If you love retro horror, you definitely need to read this. The whole book felt just like a classic 80s horror movie come to life. It had that perfect slasher film vibe with plenty of suspense, creepy campground energy, and a cold-blooded killer keeping you on the edge of your seat. It was the absolute perfect fast-paced summertime read!

I really enjoyed this creepy camping story. It definitely makes you think twice the next time you go camping. I love this author's writing and I can't wait to read the other 2 books in this camping collection from the other authors. I also was totally surprised that as fan of this author that I had a dedication to me in this book. It was so awesome

This was the second of the three in the collection I read, and it was just as great as the first.
Camping trip gone horror - ably wrong.
Elisa will keep you turning pages trying to figure out who's killing who.

Awesome Summertime Slasher
Elisa always brings the heat with these slashers. Campfire tales that turn real real quick. Couldn’t put this one down. Also loved the nod to “Don’t Watch Alone”. Just remember folks. Make sure you can trust those you go into the woods with. It’s dangerous out there.

Elisa is awesome at retro slasher horror. Fast paced, lots of action, and some humour, this is a great story.
