This powerful true story of self discovery is one that stays with you long after you finish reading it. Kendal gives a very detailed account of her real life drama and the overseeing challenges of coming to grips with her past. This is an intensely dramatic recount of the evolving and changing relationships that contributed to what she depicts as Thick Skin. In this book, she moves smoothly from one remarkable and often unbelievable story to the next. Kendal doesn't pull any punches, as she creates scenes that crackle with tension and suspense. This book is a life jacket for both broken men and women.
I'm torn about how I feel about this book. I like that each chapter is mostly independent and if you're a busy person you can stop at the end of a chapter and not feel like you're hanging by a thread..but you're still compelled to pick it up and read each chapter until there are no more. I was really bothered by the MANY simple-spelling errors in this book but after I finished it I realized it was self-published and no editor to blame. I have to thank the author for putting herself out there, this book has some really tough situations in it. People are going to judge her regardless of how she has turned her life around. As humans, it's hard not to judge people. There is a content advisory on the front. This book deals with rapes, abortions, adultery, negative attitudes, some hardcore physical abuse, homosexuality, and many other issues. This girl is brave for putting her life out there knowing people would have a sour taste about her after reading many of the chapters. There were many chapters where I felt like she was just being selfish and self centered but everything worked out in the end. Not sure what happened to ex husband Lee, you do wonder about him and feel sorry for him towards the end about a couple things but then remember that he beat the snot out of her on more than once occasion.
This book was soooo amazing!! I loved it from start to finish. Would definitely read it again. This author kept my attention the entire time. Great read!! Made me think of myself.
This book will have you angry, sad, confused, convicted, and happy. Kendall’s trials and tribulations are relatable to some and my help you. Enjoyed reading this book and gaining some insight into how Kendall became the Kendall of today.
