Good and simple cookbook for beginners. Has many step-by-step directions, with full illustrations on simple things such as boiling an egg.

Really appreciated the egg section as well since those don't exist in most cookbooks.

Has basic nutritional info under each recipe (i.e. calories, fat, carbs, fiber per serving).

The best thing that Pol Martin cookbooks have which others typically lack is the helpful step-by-step photos. Most of what's in here is pretty basic, but if you're learning a recipe for the first time, it's quite reassuring to be able to see that you aren't royally screwing-up along the way. One of the best options to learn the fundamentals of cooking.

One of my favorite cookbooks, received for a wedding present. Simple, elegant, never had anything "flop."
