Read the 1996 edition (from my Mum) and I am apalled at how women seeking home births were treated by the medical establishment. There is still plenty of anti-home birth sentiment today but I've found this is more from the general population and the NHS has reached a more nuanced view.
I enjoyed the stories dispersed within the chapters. Not buying the homeopathy parts but they were easy to skip past and it doesn't take away from the other very useful information. A good overall view of home birth, though slightly out if date I can hardly count that against it given when it was written, also it is useful to understand how the system used to work in the UK.
