A decent followup to In Person. Although, I did have an eyebrow raised when I read about the alleged response to her fainting spell in this when I've read in later books what the actual response was.

3 out of 5 stars.

Reading this book in 2022, in hindsight of everything that happened and what Princess Diana was going through when it was written and these photos being taken, made this read bittersweet.

This book was interesting in all aspects. It was produced in cooperation with both Prince Charles and Princess Diana, which is a rarity. The author and photographer was invited into the prince and princess' lives for a period of nine months. It's an interesting snapshot of their lives prior to their divorce, and before Princess Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris in 1997. 💐
It is also a very rare equal representation of Prince Charles (now Kimg Charles III) and Princess Diana. Most books focus only on Diana with Charles making a cameo. 👑
It details the Royal Household, royal duties, British tradition, and how Diana evolved from "Shy Di" to a confident young woman. It also discusses Charles work with youth, his royal engagements, and his polo and gardening hobbies. This book did change some of my thoughts regarding Prince Charles (now King Charles III.) It humanized him a bit.
Princes William and Harry were children then, and there are lots of their baby and toddler photos. 📸
It is one of the few books that doesn't mention the affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles. Because this book was published in 1986, the majority of the events hadn't happened yet. I'm sure it was ongoing in the background though. In a way, it almost predates Camilla. (As we know now, Squidgygate and Camillagate blew wide open several years later, Prince Charles married Camilla in 2005, and she is now Queen Consort.) 👸
This book is a snapshot in time, and it's very sad no one could imagine the events that would unfold, and that Diana would never be Queen.
If you like reading about the royal family, it's definitely a good read. 📚
