Fractured: Dark Fantasy Romance, with an Immortal Ruler that will burn the world for her....literally.

Rate this book
My name is Jasper Rancor. Some call me a ruler, a god, or the boss of this domain. Aetheriem was created to help heal the lost human souls of Earth. I take pride in keeping the balance between the realms while humans move on to their next afterlife. Over the centuries I have watched the other immortals find someone to share this life with, to find love. Even my brother Jess, but as I watch his relationship bloom, I can’t help but wonder.

What about me?

And although the question lingers, I have tried hard to make peace with being alone until one fated afternoon changes everything. Violet eyes pierce through me halting the air in my lungs, fracturing a darkness I never noticed was there. Her exquisite beauty calls out to something deep I never thought existed in me. One word, just one, screams so loud it drowns out all the voices and sounds around me. Mine.
But when they tamper with my peace and try to rip her essence from the marrow of my being, my fury turns to madness. They have forced my hand and I’m going to enjoy watching it all burn.

I was given an advanced copy this book for an honest review.
This is Book 2 of the Frequency Trilogy.
First off.. and no offense to Shan Lynn but this book was so much better than the first.
The character development and time she took to introduce the MFC and MMC really pulled you into their story. The first part of the book is a bit slow and mostly character building but it's definitely needed so we get a good understanding of what is going to happen in the second part. When things come to a head shortly after the midway point you are already connected to the characters so the angst they're going through your going to feel as well.
Sigh.... Jasper... As the Beatles sang "All You Need is Love" well all Jasper truly needed was love.. but those damn gods and their fates..
Jasper is the quintessential brooding MMC. Lillith is is a beautiful and smart MFC.
HONESTLY...I can't say much about the true book without spoilers. 🤫
Aetheriem is a special place where hunan souls go to heal. Jasper and his brother Jess are immortals who were sent to run Aetheriem and help burned out souls heal and moved on the the next afterlife.
The is where were learn Jasper and Lilliths story .. be prepared for joy and heartache.
This book doesn't pick up where the first one left but really helps you understand how things happen the way they did.
And of course ends with a cliffhanger.. ugh!!
Lastly I think everyone has or at least knows Stella in their lives.. lover her !!
This was definitely a fun and quick read

Let me start by saying, if you haven't read Frequency first, you must do so! Go read it now!

I was blessed with an ARC copy of Fractured, and I wish I had the rest of the series already! Fractured does not pick up where Frequency left off. This is Jasper's story, Jasper who is the villain in book one, Frequency. I hated Jasper in book one, because he was the villain who ruined everything. These two books are a great example of having two sides to every story. After learning Jasper's story and how he became the way that he is, and how he was the villain in Frequency, I now love his character. I feel for him in so many ways, and I hate the fate he was dealt. I now understand why he has so much hate and distain within him, and where it all came from! I devoured Fractured, and dare I say I loved it more than Frequency, I think I might! This book had me trying so hard to guess what was going to happen, and where things were going. I thought I could figure out everyone's secrets, but I was so wrong on all of it. I LOVE that I was wrong, I LOVE when an author can keep me guessing and surprise me! It makes me happy when I cannot guess where the story is going, and this book did not disappoint! Shan Lynn does a fantastic job with her writing, pulling you into these characters stories, making you feel the emotions they are feeling, and getting so attached to them. I cannot wait for the next book, I must know what happens next and where the story is going!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting story. After reading Frequency, I felt Jasper was a little underdeveloped, so it was nice to get his perspective and understand why he made the choices he did.

Jasper is immortal, and his existence has remained largely unchanged for centuries until he meets Lilith.

Lilith is a soul who has spent a long time in the other world. Falling in love with her changes everything for Jasper, and when the Fates intervene to take her away, his world shatters.

I thought the character development was much stronger in this book, particularly for Jasper, and it added a lot more depth to his character.

It doesn't excuse his behaviour in Frequency, but it does help you understand how someone can become the villain.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read and one I'd recommend, especially if you've already read Frequency

Fractured is the 2nd book in The Frequencies Trilogy by Shan Lynn. I adored the 1st book, Frequency, but this 2nd book was what my Jasper loving heart needed. Fractured takes us back before the events of the first book. We learn why Jasper becomes our villain, and get a clearer understanding of what Aetheriem actually is. Some questions from the first book are answered but there are still plenty left to uncover. I loved meeting new characters and learning more about established ones, especially Jess and Steph. This book isn’t overly spicy but it certainly isn’t lacking in romance. I enjoyed seeing a different side of Jasper, and his character development was a highlight for me. I will admit though, villain Jasper is my favorite! These books have great flow and are so easy to fall into. I’m excited for the 3rd book!!!

I read this as an ARC, and although it took me till day of release for me to finish and review (because life is busy and I have adhd), this book was nothing to sleep on and was exactly what we needed after Frequency. We finally get Jaspers backstory, and meet Lilith! I absolutely loved when Jasper started to feel human emotions as an immortal and made the character seem that much more real. I cannot wait to see how this story unfolds in the next book. Shan led us right up to the top of the cliff and left us hanging on by a toe to see how this unfolds! I enjoyed this story immensely! While there could have been more spice, the story made up for it!

Absolutely Loving this Trilogy. I was so excited to see what happens to everyone and how they manage to fix things after reading the first book, but getting this back story on Jasper was so good and heartbreaking and now you are routing for the villain on top of everyone else. Though the spice in here was a bit Vanilla. The Romance was exactly what you want. Pulling at your heart strings, sweet, and heart wrenching. Cannot wait for the last book so we can see how everything is resolved and hope for multiple happy endings!

This is the second part to Frequency. This starts at the beginning before Altheriums downfall. A love story between Zayne and Lillith. Its about a love so impossible due to the different worlds the humans and the eternals cannot be at one. I was a bit confused and had to go back to Frequency to reference some things. I suggest if you read this book read Frequency second. Or if you read Frequency first read Fractured right after or you will get confused.

Just as I loved the first book I truly loved this one as well! The character development of Jasper was crucial to the series and it couldn’t have been done better. The banter was adorable and seeing Jasper explore his human side was heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. The reality of his decent to a villain can be felt on a personal level and pushes the book to a whole other level! Forever a comfort series and favorite author! Lilith and Jasper gave me life and broke me at the same time! 5 stars isn’t enough! Can’t wait for book 3!!!

The Jasper origin story is wild.
Legit enough to drive anyone to madness in my opinion.
Book one had me grasping at straws wanting to know what happens next. Now book two has me hanging off a cliff, desperate from two different angles. What is happening with Zayne and Myssa? How crazy is Jasper going to get? Does Jess and Steph save the souls of the realm? I must knooooooooow!!

Fractured by Shan Lynn
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶️

Just like the villains in a Disney movie. Jasper started off pure and lovable. But what changes that? In a world of immortality that blends and bleeds into mortality, Death is the least understood symptom.

This second book starts off a tad stronger but kept my attention much longer. I’m looking forward to seeing how this whole story plays out.

This is the prequel to fracture. And shows more in depth about what Aetheriem is and the origins.

This book shows exactly why Jasper became the way he is now. And honestly the empath in me feels so sorry for him 😞. Definitely a villains origin story.

Patiently waiting for book 3 to see exactly what happens to Missa (book 1) and now Jasper. Darn it now I’m slightly rooting for him

After reading Frequency I was really looking forward to this. The potential was there for learning why Jasper became the bad guy however, this book wasn't for me. For me personally it seemed to lack everything that made the first book a good read.

Couldn't put this book down! 🤯 I particularly appreciated learning about Jasper's background and the circumstances that shaped him. The fates really did him dirty. But why that ending?! I need to know what happens next! 😭

I loved getting this backstory on Jasper. It really clarified a lot from the first book. And honestly, it made my heart hurt. He went from such a loveable guy to a villain. And now I understand why. I absolutely loved this story. It brought a lot of clarity. And I can't wait to read the next one.

Oh I LOVE a good villain origin story.

Honestly I do feel bad for Jasper (he's still bat shot crazy but the sympathy is there)
