If The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina were a MM romance.
Perfect Halloween book.
Gothic witchcraft vibes in a sweet MM romance.
Wow I absolutely loved this book!!!! First off I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous cover art and come to find out the artwork and the book are both by Elle Young! So much talent and I can’t wait to see what she comes out with in the future. This was an ARC ebook read for me but I plan to buy the physical book because I enjoyed it that much.
Victor has a body in the basement that he scored from his mortician friend at the local morgue. With illegal spells he turns Camden into the perfect boyfriend. The characters were enjoyable and quirky and I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I would’ve love to have read a little more about Jinx the bat and see his personality! Overall this was such a fun cozy read that I see myself picking up again in the fall.

Oh my god I loved this so so much! It’s the perfect summerween book! So I have not read anything like this before I’ve read plenty of mm books but none with magic but the cover made me wanna read
So it’s a loosely based version of Frankenstein
Victor has not had luck in dating or relationships and he’s a mage so he wants to make his own boyfriend so when his friend calls him and tells him she has a body for him at the morgue he jumps at the chance
Cam has died in a motorcycle accident he’s lost an arm and a leg but Alice has both parts for victor to try and bring him back and that he does! He sews on Cams arm and leg and it works except when they go on their first date and his arm falls off LOL
So this story is sweet like I giggles so much when cam is basically coming back to life and remembering things but his adoration for victor is just so so much!
Victor is cautious because he wants cam of course because how Cam is described in the book and his picture on the cover he is a snack!
We get to see so many cute funny moments in their dating and getting to know each other and Victor slowly warms up and opens up to Cam about his life with his ex Ron and Cam tells him about his family and how they died
Their love is sweet it truly is but oooh boy is it spicy!
A lot of cake frosting was used and whew!
The fuzzy cuffs at the cursed antique store made me laugh because pretty sure Cam did it on purpose LOL
I loved how freely Cam called Victor his boyfriend and it completely caught Victor off guard
I absolutely do not regret reading this book because it truly had it all we had fun cute moments we had bashful moments and laugh loudly moments and the spice was absolutely spicing!!
The proposal with Jett his familiar was one of my favourite moments but I think I loved the I love you confessions the most because Victor was SO scared to say he loved cam because he worried that Cam loving him was because of the magic he used to bring him back but when Cam said he was giving him his heart willingly I lost it!

This was such a fun, cute, and quick read I honestly devoured it so fast.
Made to Be follows Victor and Camden, and their dynamic was everything. Vic is a professor of arcane studies, and he is truly the perfect nerdy, adorable, lovable MMC. Then we have Cam, who is the tough, tattooed, pierced bad boy type… who also happens to be dead when the story starts.
This book was not what I expected, but in the best way possible. It gave me something quirky, sweet, magical, and surprisingly soft. The concept could have easily gone in a darker direction, but instead it felt fun, cozy, and easy to read while still having enough heart to keep me invested.
Vic and Cam together were so sweet. I loved the way their relationship developed and how much care there was between them. Their love felt soft, genuine, and just really easy to root for. There was also quite a bit of spice, so definitely expect some open-door scenes mixed in with the cute and cozy vibes.
If you love MM romance and want something cute, fun, relaxed, magical, and a little spicy, this is definitely one to pick up. It’s a quick read, but such a good time.

This is not a particularly good read, but I think it was a fair one. It is pretty much fast-paced, and that’s just it. There is nothing much that draws readers to want more. A lot of times, I feel the story is coming alive and then it falls off.
But if you are looking for an unconventional quick read, this might be for you. It wasn’t entirely for me but as a fast read, I enjoyed going through the story page by page and that’s just it for me.

Loved it. This was a really cute paranormal mm romance, with a modern Frankenstein twist, as Witch Victor resurrects a recently deceased stranger to become his perfect boyfriend.
It was funny and swoony, I loved the banter with his best friend Alice, the cosy vibes, and all the awkward and twisted situations they find themselves in.
It's quirky and magical with a wholesome second chance at love.

💀✨ Made to Be was exactly the kind of book I needed. I picked it up expecting something fun and quirky, and that’s exactly what I got. It was cute, magical, heartfelt, a little chaotic, and honestly such an easy book to devour. I flew through it in no time because I simply didn’t want to put it down.
Vic Grimsley was such an adorable MMC. 🖤 He’s a professor of arcane studies who has completely given up on dating apps after one terrible relationship after another. So naturally… he decides to use illegal necromancy to bring his ideal boyfriend back from the dead. 😂 It was such a ridiculous premise in the best possible way, and I loved watching everything spiral from there. When Camden wakes up alive again, Vic suddenly has to figure out how to navigate feelings, magic, and the complicated question of whether love created through a spell could ever be real.
One of my favorite parts of this book was actually Vic’s friendship with his best friend. 🥹❤️ She had seen him through every bizarre life decision imaginable, yet she never stopped supporting him or loving him. Their friendship felt genuine, comforting, and wonderfully chaotic. They truly gave off “I’ve seen your worst moments and I’m still here” energy, and I adored every scene they shared.
And then there was Cam. 🖤✨ Tough, tattooed, pierced, and intimidating on the outside, but incredibly thoughtful underneath it all. Watching him and Vic slowly grow closer made my heart so happy. I initially wondered whether their relationship would feel forced because of the resurrection magic, but the story handled that concern really well. Their connection wasn’t built on manipulation—it grew through kindness, respect, patience, and genuine care for one another. They listened to each other, accepted each other’s quirks without judgment, and created such a soft, healthy relationship that was impossible not to root for.
🥹 There was something incredibly comforting about their romance. Even with the magical chaos and the questions surrounding Cam’s past, the story never lost its cozy feeling. It balanced humor, heart, and romance so well that I found myself smiling through most of the book.
I will admit I wanted just a little more of Vic’s academic life. 📚✨ The idea of him being a professor of arcane studies fascinated me, and I would’ve loved to spend more time exploring the university, his classes, and the magical world surrounding his work. Still, since the story focused primarily on Vic and Cam’s relationship, it never took away from how enjoyable their journey was.
🔥 There was definitely some open-door spice mixed into all the sweetness, and I thought it fit their relationship naturally. It added another layer to their growing intimacy without taking away from the emotional connection that made them so lovable.
Overall, this was such a fun, cozy, magical, and heartwarming MM romance. 💖 It surprised me in the best way possible. I expected laughs, but I also found warmth, comfort, wonderful friendships, and a romance that felt incredibly easy to cheer for. Sometimes all you need is an adorable necromancer, a resurrected bad boy, and a little bit of magic to remind you that love can show up in the most unexpected places.

So, there was this guy named Cam, who used to be dead but got brought back to life through some kind of witchcraft or magic—maybe even something supernatural.
Vic, the witch who’s gifted through his spells. Okay, maybe a bit gifted, because he’s had a few close calls, like blowing himself up a few times. And he had this spell that made him hard for three hours, OMG, I know right? Oh yeah & that invisibility spell that works, but only for a few seconds, but still, can you imagine?
And that’s just a few spells from his spell book, which he’s been trying to write for years. But his absolute best spell, the one he hopes will work but can’t brag about it or tell anyone if it does, is the spell that brings a dead person back to life. And not just any dead person. Vic wants Cam, his future boyfriend, partner, & potential husband, to bring him back to life and fall in love with him. Only one thing, maybe two. See, Cam is hoping that this spell he cast on Cam will not only bring him back to life but will have Cam fall in love with Vic. And when Vic’s friend Alice, who’s a mortician (which is where Cam found the dead body), sees Cam’s body—or rather, corpse—& hopes the resurrection spell works. To not only bring him back to life, but all his parts, including his brain works. And there could be a problem since the accident that killed Cam was a motorcycle accident, and a few limbs were missing.
Now there are a few hiccups along the way.
See, Cam had a situation where some people were looking to severely hurt him, like kill hurt him.
And Vic, well he was been hiding from a past very abusive ex-boyfriend. The like if I can't have you then no one can have you kind of ex.
And that is just the beginning of this fantastic story.
And yes, I might have thought about doing that spell thing to create my own "HIM" a few times. But what single gay man hasn’t right?

Made to Be by Elle Young is a quirky and highly explicit M/M paranormal rom-com that pushes the boundaries of romance through necromancy. The story follows Victor, a socially awkward and nerdy professor of magic, who decides to literally create his own "perfect boyfriend" using a corpse smuggled from a morgue.
The main elements of the book are:
The Dynamic: The relationship between the insecure Victor and the reanimated Camden (Cam) is heartwarming and full of humor. Cam is a "gentle giant" with tattoos and piercings who, despite his tragic past, possesses a passion for baking.

The synopsis of this book made me think that some portion of the book would be about the ethics of necromancy the power dynamics of a relationship in which one gave the other life. It’s maybe a couple of pages.
Once I started reading it I realized it was taking on a comedic tone I thought there would be hijinks about dating a corpse, or someone who is legally dead, or even about having to get someone to like you back. But the most they struggle is some forced proximity magical handcuffs that gets resolved fairly quickly.
In fact, many of the obstacles in Vic and Cam’s way get resolved about as quickly as they’re introduced, except for the climax which is resolved in a fraction of the time that it was set up. This leads to book having no real stakes or even a plot. Cam likes Vic immediately and thinks he can do no wrong, and there are no ill effects for him after literally being dead. He’s the perfect boyfriend, including the fact that he takes the lead in everything, in calling Vic his boyfriend, in saying I love you first, and in proposing. This also makes Vic such a weak and passive character who never has to take charge. This is Victor Frankenstein’s compelling fatal flaw, but a pretty irritating one in a romantic lead.

And Alice? Everyone needs a bff like Alice!
The premise of the story intrigued me, but I have to admit, it somewhat concerned me as well. My prior experience with fantasy stories where necromancy comes into play has resulted in zombie-esque outcomes. I worried about the outcome that Vic was going to get from his experiments, but was pleasantly surprised by the creative liberties that Elle took with her idea of necromancy. In other words, I was glad that poor Vic didn't fall in love with a being with dying skin and little to no emotional capabilities. The story was so much fun and had me laughing out loud at all of Vic's awkward antics ~ his embarrassing stories were endless and endearing! The romance was so sweet to the point that my teeth ached. And the spice? Elle sure knows how to keep things hot!
I'm newer in my journey into LGBTQ+ and MM romances, and I definitely want more stories like this one! I cannot wait to see what else Elle Young gives us to swoon over!

ARC Review - Fast, straightforward, and wholesome
So this one turned out to be a rather quick read that had me stressed despite nothing really happening to get this response. However I was always waiting for some big plottwist or something. The story moved quite straightforward and you get exactly what was advertised. You need to be prepared for the romance to be the plot and like that.
I am the kind of romance reader who needs something else in there as well and thus found this book not quite my style or favourite. I did enjoy reading it tho despite not returning to it. I enjoyed the Frankenstein references a lot as it is one of my fav classics. So that is a plus for me.
Victor and Cam are well written but I found them to be somewhat bland at times though. That was a shame as I was ready for there to be some conflict or drama between them and them clashing or something. But someone else might like them more than me. There is a favourite Pokemon for everyone and so are book characters.
Overall a well written book with a well thought of plot and characters that just didnt't quite work for me.

Made to Be is a very quick read, or I guess it would be if it had kept my attention. I got through the first 65% of the book in less than a day and then it took me weeks to pick it back up again. The premise of the book is for Vic to create his perfect man and he does that! A man that is completely obsessed with him too (and also conveniently has no emotional attachments or people who will miss him)! The attraction, once Cam is less zombie-like, is nearly instant. No real build up, no tension. Even the ‘conflicts’ in the book are quickly handled. The entire plot is very focused on the two of them, with very little else happening.
It’s just a very happy go lucky book and I think I’m a reader that enjoys angst, something this had absolutely none of realistically. So if you’re looking for a quick, easy and spicy read, this is 100% the perfect book for you to read with a pumpkin spice latte on the side. If you’re looking for something with a little more substance, maybe put this one off till later.

Silly, sweet, and a teeny bit dark, Made to Be is exactly what you expect after reading the blurb. A young, very average guy (that happens to be a magic professor), Vic is hiding from something in his past that he’s afraid of – namely, his previous abusive relationship.
While magic exists in this modern world, there are rules for everyone to follow, of course, but Vic likes to dabble a bit in the “not so acceptable” spells…and his newest interest happens to be one that can kill (ehhh…) two birds with one stone:
1. Successfully complete a totally illegal necromancy spell and
2. Use a really hot dead guy to try it on, so he can maybe get himself a boyfriend
Vic and Cam are so freaking cute together, and their goofy adventures (You know, like going to the mall with basically a zombie, or randomly losing an arm that happens to have a mind of its own) had me grinning.
This is a silly feel-good book, well written, spicy and while the side characters are few, they are all very well written (shout out to the BFF and the ladies at the diner!). PERFECT as a palate cleanser after a heavy read.

This book certainly wasn't what I expected, but in a very very good way! I loved the characters and all their interactions.
Cam will have a special place in my heart from now on... I would think that someone who woke up again after being dead would be mad about it or confused or at the very least annoyed? But he was so sweet!
He reminded me so much of Nico Beckett from Sheets by Sareyen; tall, black hair, blue eyes, lip piercing, tattoos, former bad boy... I LOVE THEM BOTH SO MUCH!!!
Victor was also not what I expected. I expected an awkward nerd with no social skills but what we got was a talkative, flirty and cute nerd with a horrible past. He was so lucky he found Alice and Alice found him Cam.🖤
Lastly, Sylvia is me and I'm Sylvia.
I do not want to spoil this book for anyone, but if you like cozy fantasy with BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN smut, dildo jokes and HOT guys, you should DEFINITELY give this book a shot and support a somewhat new author!

The themed coffee mugs added a nice touch, and the detailed character descriptions helped me visualize everyone clearly. The made-to-order boyfriend gave off some serious Weird Science vibes—creepy but in a fun way! The magic elements, combined with the twists and turns, made for an exciting and unpredictable ride.

I liked this story. It was fun. It was weird. It was morally gray. Very morally gray. And it was sweet with a little bit of spice for flavour.
It's a story that doesn't take itself seriously. It's a fun read. A "what if this happened" sort of read, so it couldn’t' help but be interesting and fun.
With that said, I was left with questions about some things that were left unresolved. But the thing that stands out the most for me, and this could just be a "me" issue, is that Vic doesn't become self-aware enough to question his own actions. I had hoped that he'd eventually recognize that he'd "played God" with someone else's life and apologize for that, but he doesn't. The subject is skirted but not addressed.
Ultimately, though, this is a unique, fun, and sexy story. And it has a lot going for it. Give it a try and see what you think.

Made to Be is a contemporary get-together with a very tight focus on Victor and Cam’s relationship. I would say this is instant attraction on Victor’s part and a slow burn between Victor and Cam; once they recognize their attraction is mutual, there is a big shift away from practicalities and plot to focus on the physical intimacy Victor experiences.
In short, this book was very much not for me. The premise focused so much on Victor getting his boyfriend that anything else of interest was relegated to the background–including said boyfriend much of the time. Readers who like when a story has such a narrow focus on a single character and what drives them may enjoy this, especially when it’s romance and sex driving them.

Underneath all the humour and lighthearted chaos, there’s a really lovely focus on acceptance, belonging and being loved exactly as you are — which gave the story a surprising amount of sweetness.
The writing was easy to fly through, the characters were all fun and likeable, and the overall vibe stayed lighthearted and entertaining throughout. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, and honestly, that was part of the charm.

This story started out well, with Vic being given a body by his best friend, with the plan being to raise the man from the dead to become his boyfriend, and if the body was missing a couple of limbs, it was a morgue so there were options available! The story had many funny moments, and overall the story was entertaining and light hearted, but it also felt that there were so many opportunities that were missed to really allow for better character development.
The main point of conflict was resolved so quickly that I was a little disappointed, and I am not usually one for drama!
Vic’s familiar was adorable, the best friend added some depth to the story, but even with the tragic back story for Cam (the body), it still felt as though things could have developed in a more meaningful way.

4 stars! I really enjoyed this book. At the beginning it felt a little slow and the humor seemed a bit YA, but as it went on about 30 percent mark I was loving it. This book had be laughing and I really felt the chemistry between Cam and Victor. The smut scenes were also very well written. Definitely hot and steamy. A fair warning for viewers it is very smut heavy, but that's something I really enjoy in my romance books. The storyline was something I've never read about before and was really intrigued by the whole necromancy aspect of the book. The author did a great job at keeping a seem less story going throughout and I really couldn't put it down because I was just having a really fun time with the book.

One funny sentence in the book was " My mom said if I get lost I should find a goth to help me". I know no goth but I've consumed enough media to know a very realistic goth humour.

This book was like nothing I have read before and I enjoyed it! I don’t read tons of paranormal book, let alone funny and cute paranormal books, but this one as fun and different.
I would like to first say that I love the cover! I saw this and I had to read it just because of that (and I ended up really enjoying it). The book was lighthearted and I really liked the cute and funny moments.
One thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was the fact that after Vic and Cam got together, the story seemed to focus solely on that. Don’t get me wrong, I love spice, but I felt like it went from a storyline to then just about spicy. This was more of a “me” issue than anything though.

I got an ARC to give an honest review.
3,5 stars rounded up. There was (almost) nothing wrong with the book, and I know someone will like it, it just wasn't for me. The idea of a MM comedý romance retelling of Frankenstain sounded good, and I can honestly say that I have never seen a better sitcom in book form.
I hate sitcoms.
The plot was scarse, it was mostly just a series of vignettes. Pilot: Vic revives Cam, a corpse he getsfrom a morgue, to be his new boyfriend. Hijinks ensue. Cam and Vic go antique shopping. Hijinks ensue. Cam and Vic go on a date, sexy hijinks ensue. The climax is like that too, a Very Special Episode just as disconnected from the rest. The main conflict was Vic's uncertainty, but he knew that it would happen from the beginning, it makes no sense for him to question it halfway.
3,5 stars rounded up. There was (almost) nothing wrong with the book, and I know someone will like it, it just wasn't for me. The idea of a MM comedý romance retelling of Frankenstain sounded good, and I can honestly say that I have never seen a better sitcom in book form.
I hate sitcoms.
The plot was scarse, it was mostly just a series of vignettes. Pilot: Vic revives Cam, a corpse he getsfrom a morgue, to be his new boyfriend. Hijinks ensue. Cam and Vic go antique shopping. Hijinks ensue. Cam and Vic go on a date, sexy hijinks ensue. The climax is like that too, a Very Special Episode just as disconnected from the rest. The main conflict was Vic's uncertainty, but he knew that it would happen from the beginning, it makes no sense for him to question it halfway.

This was such an unbelievably great read!
It had me laughing, giggling, kicking my feet, and even tearing up during the most precious parts.
Such a palate cleanser after reading so many high angst books.
I cannot believe how wonderful this was. Truly flabbergasted!
There was a little bit of angst in there, but that comes regardless.
Build a boyfriend, but make it witchy!
And have a bestie who works in a morgue.
And a cute little bat familiar! Precious
Viktor had some of the funniest quips that had me dying from laughter, and Cam was just the smoothest talker and (I wish I could see them) had the smolderiest eyes ever.
I'm so happy Vik got the type of guy he deserves after being through literal hell with Ron.

July 30, 2026This book was so much fun. When I saw that the premise involved magic, necromancy, and sweet boys I was like "SIGN ME UP!" Having literally worked for a morgue, this book was directly up my alley. Vic and Cam's story is about love, resilience, and standing by your partner no matter what happened in the past. The book was a little faster paced than I would have liked, but I couldn't put it down. Each time I finished a chapter, I had to continue on after seeing the title of the next chapter (seriously, the chapter titles are fantastic). Super excited to see what else Elle comes up with in the future as I am sure I will love it.

This book was okay. I think with a few tweaks I would have enjoyed it so much more.
Tired of being alone Vic decides that he’s going to bring a guy back from the dead with the purpose of becoming his boyfriend. Now, I think that plots that sound a little problematic on paper, if done well, can be so frickin good. I love romances that play with the line of what’s appropriate. However, not only does this book not address the issues of consent, like maybe Cam doesn’t wanna be alive, Vic isn’t sure what Cam’s life span will be if he does bring him back, will Cam even be attracted to Vic, etc. Vic also comes off as so desperate not only emotionally but sexually. It just came off as super selfish and gave me the ick from the beginning which colored my opinion of the whole book. To be clear, nothing was blatantly in appropriate by any means.
I will say the romance portion was so sweet and there were a lot of funny moments. The spice was hot because Cam very much WAS into Vic. I also love me a hurt/comfort trope which played into many tender moments.
If it sounds like your kinda book, I’d give it a read.
