This sounds familiar…
I haven’t read this one before but this plot sounded familiar. I’ll need to check my book journal, or maybe I’m imagining it.
Regardless, the husband leaves the wife after draining their emergency fund of $38k. Turns out he’s been funding his affair partner for months, using marital assets. And leaves her with only $400.
Scumbag. OW is an influencer who is actually a greedy gold digger…
Update guy is a divorce lawyer but he turns her case over to a partner so he can fraternize with her. It’s 🥰
KU and only one or two left in the series…

No it's like a robot wrote this
The words are dry and robotic. The way they talk is nothing I could see being done at all. Also did the ex stay with the influencer? Did he become a good dad?
I mean if I had to read this robotic book at least my questions could have been answered geez.

Best of the bunch!!
**SPOILERS**
Claire Phelps learns she’s pregnant and she’s so happy! She tells her husband and is a bit hesitant when he’s not overjoyed. When she comes home Gavin (her husband) is gone, he’s left a note saying he needs to move on (he has a mistress who is a wellness guru lol) and HE DRAINS THEIR ACCOUNT! Yup, Claire is pregnant and broke!!
But Claire is the daughter is an accountant! She accesses every report every account and then she goes to a divorce attorney, Reid. Reid is horrified by Claire’s situation and takes on her case for free (until they win, lol) and he’s delighted when he sees how much she has prepared! Prep is EASY because Claire has documented Gavin’s infidelity and money drain so well! They go to mediation first. Gavin brings Noelle, his mistress, and gah, she’s a piece of work! She keeps saying that Gavin believed in her vision, that Claire is “weaponizing” her baby, and that stress isn’t good for the baby, what a WITCH!! The mediation goes Claire’s way…I mean, come on, the douche left his pregnant wife for his mistress and drained their accounts to pay for his mistresses wellness launch! Noelle tries to post awful comments about Claire, but Claire retaliates and Noelle has to remove the comments, she also loses the wellness launch!
Reid recused himself because he fell for Claire! Claire gets her money back, her dignity and an UPGRADE! Reid is awesome and so attentive!
**THOUGHTS/OPINIONS**
Oh my gah! This is the best book of the series, and I’ll tell you why…Claire is HYSTERICAL! She’s so funny, has this dry sense of humor! Even in the worst situation she’s able to be witty and funny! I laughed out loud reading this book, and I mean the subject matter isn’t that funny…but Claire was!! Reid is amazing, he matches Claire so well! I hated Gavin and Noelle and was glad they got roasted!! This is a quick hysterical read!!

He Left Me Pregnant. I Left Him Broke, part of The Betrayal Upgrade series, was about Claire Dovan-Phelps, and Reid Hayes, a divorce attorney and owner of the Hayes Family Law & Trust Litigation.
Claire and her (soon-to-be ex) husband, Gavin Phelps, had been together for at least five years when she learned she was pregnant on the same morning that he decided to leave her a note that said he needed space...and a message from the bank telling her that he had depleted their entire emergency fund in support of his mistress, Noelle Jarvis and her company, the Jarvis Wellness Media business.
The book had a different twist to it than the author's other stories (so far) in that the FMC was pregnant at the time of discovery and betrayal. Other than that, the book had the typical angst, drama, and emotional rollercoaster. The conflict was dry and almost non-existent because it was over before it began. This author tends to give the reader a story that is merely an outline. It has a beginning, a climax, and an ending, but it lacks continuity, and the meat and bones that hold it together and should give the story depth and life. This doesn't have the last two, more important elements. There wasn't any depth or life in this story. It just meandered from start to finish, giving the reader the bare minimum. It had potential. I'll be honest about that, but it had no backstory; there wasn't anything that led up to the FMC's husband's dissatisfaction with the marriage. The reader was presented with the separation already in the works at the opening and left hanging as to why.
As with her other stories, there wasn't time for character building or growth, and the timeline was too short for anything real to develop between the FMC and the new love interest...and yet, the moment they met, they were (almost) all over each other. It just lacked believability, so I gave it a one-star rating.

I feel betrayed
Hmmm...Yes, I do feel betrayed by this novella. It is a slight variation to the last 2. The story runs along the same lines. It's becoming predictable, repetitive and boring. Almost the same plots, same quick witty comebacks but this one sounded more unbelievable. From the start when Claire decided to take her marital concerns to a lawyer, she met Reid that day and within a day or so, they are so attracted to each other that straight away, they had an relationship. Seriously? A single attractive successful lawyer becomes inescapably mesmerized by a pregnant woman? There was no separate POV for Reid which could explain the reason why. I feel like because the story was littered with quick sarcasm comments that it would carry the missing scope and depth that was glaringly absent in the story. I didn't think this was the author's best.

I usually don't care for short novellas. . .
. . .however, I have to state, with absolute sincerity, that this one was so well written and, at the most emotional moments, so hilariously humorous I was chuckling nonstop.
Claire fought back when her cheater of a husband and his mistress first left her nearly completely destitute, then tried to break her by using her new pregnancy and emotions as a hostile assault strategy. She fights back in survival mode assisted by Reid and his terrifyingly competent assistant Marta as well as her sharply cutting, brilliantly devastating, and always funny humor. Five stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Hard to review
This one was hard for me to decide how to rate because on the one hand I think it was pretty well written and humorous. It has steamy scenes which I don’t care to read, but I knew there would be beforehand. I think the story itself just felt too superficial emotionally. Insta-lust isn’t for me. So I think in the end, if I rate it according to how much I liked it, I’d give it 2.5 stars.

Too bad
It is sad that in stories like this the woman needs a man before she even gets divorced. It kind of takes away from being a strong character who navigates through divorce on her own strength. Way to take that away from women!

Dumb Titled Guilty Pleasure
I've found myself reading a lot of these cheating/betrayal novellas. 99.8% of which have dumb titles and/or covers but I still enjoy the story for what it is: concise drama.

What is the point
No back story with an unrealistic storyline. Another AI BOOK. Waste of time and money. You can't relate to the characters at all.

Cute, Funny, different
The writing style is so different from so much that is on the market. I love it. It is funny, sarcastic, cute, and a really good story. Thank you!

Let Her Cook🔥
Claire maintained her dignity and receipts while her husband and mistress were playing in her face! Girrrl! It couldn’t be me…well, if I had a Reid as a safe place to land I would have been all kinds of supported, too! I’ve read every one of Ms. Marks’s novellas; chef’s kiss every time!
