Great start to a story I can’t wait to finish! The authors use of metaphor and imagery was superb throughout. I’m familiar with many of the places this book is set and reading this had me reminiscing back to walking the streets of New Orleans and Astoria at night.
The character development was another high point. The main character especially does a lot of growing in a short amount of time, coming to grips with a total upheaval of her life in a relatable and fascinating way.
I thought I knew where the book was going about halfway through but I was dead wrong, and that’s always an excellent quality in fiction. Once the story had me in its grips it was hard to put down. Give this book a try if you’re curious!
