Stepbrother With Benefits #2

Stepbrother With Benefits 2

Rate this book
This is bad. Very bad. He's rubbing off on me. Resident bad boy Ethan Colton is turning me into an irresponsible bad girl.

-----

Rule #2 – When I tell you to come here, you come here.

It's still an order, still practically growling at me, commanding me to obey him, but it's more, too. It's fun and flirty, a little playful. I can see why girls fall for him, can see why his devious smirk melts their resistance, because it's doing the same to me.

-----

Ethan is a cocky, arrogant jerk. He's always been that way. Why do girls trip over their own feet just to be with him? I don't know! I'll never understand it. Don't they realize he's just going to ditch them after a couple of weeks?

Yes, he can be nice when he wants to be. It's true that he's ridiculously attractive, too. It's not like I want to stare at him when he walks around shirtless, but it's hard not to notice someone like him. He's got that bad boy smile that makes you want to...

Did I mention he's my stepbrother? Ick.

What? You think I'm falling for him? Nope! It's impossible.

Lessons and Rules

Ethan and Ashley keep the taboo heat rolling in this installment. I love the rules and lessons and look forward to seeing what else they get into. 🔥🥳

I listened to an author's copy of the audio book. I enjoyed the two narrators, CJ Bloom and James Cavenaugh. They are well suited for the characters. ❤️

Damn! :) i just read sexual perfection! Just as I finished the book, i had to calm down because i realized I'm breathing all heavy and ready to f#%k the first man that comes in view! Lol ! The sex is hot and rough and passionate... I loved how Ethan didn't rush into just f#%king Ashley. He took his time exploring her body and i must say, it only made the sex hotter! :) 5 pool-table-f#%king-stars! :)

🎧🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW🎧🎧

Once I finished and enjoyed the first book in this serial, I went ahead and grabbed the second installment from Booksprouts and then the third and fourth and fifth (lol) … because I honestly love Mia’s choice of style for them. If I was to use one phrase to describe the installments, it would have to be ”moments in time” that when all put together show a well-developed storyline of a romance between stepsiblings. The story continues to be sexy and engaging and even though it has the typical cliché young-people shenanigans, it didn’t bother me. Could be because I enjoyed the narration by CJ Bloom & James Cavenaugh very much and it made the time pass very quickly in the story!

I enjoyed this hot and explicit story. This is just a part of it and it picks up right where the first one leaves off. This is not the end of their story either. Ethan and Ashley have in the thick of enjoying their short arrangement as they both struggle to figure out what they feel and being in denial about this being anything more between them potentially. This story is hot and explicit and their are lots of sexy times in this short listen. The narrator did a great job with the voices and emotion.

4 for smut.... It's like she pieced out the actual story. These are short reads.... The smut is good but I really need a story.... Not sure if I will read the rest in the series. They all should have been one book!

I'm probably the odd duck here but I find the sarcastic humor to be spot on. Yep, I'm reading a series about sex because I find it funny and I enjoy laughing ;-)

SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

Ashley and Ethan are officially starting their agreement to be friends with benefits -- but only for the week their parents are out of town on vacation.

Ethan teaches Ashley all about oral (giving and receiving). And she reluctantly goes shopping with her "friend" Julie.

But things are heating up between Ashley and Ethan beyond the sexual. Because both of them are starting to feel things for each other outside of sex. And it's confusing.

REVIEW:

A steamy follow up to the first story in the series. The writing is still amateurish and weird, but I like the story enough to look past that and continue the series. Ethan and Ashley are just kind of cute together and I want to see what happens with them.

So I gotta say that Ethan teaches Ashley a trick about deepthroating in this one that I had never heard before. He says if you squeeze your left thumb in your left hand that it dulls your gag reflex. I actually tried this while brushing my tongue because I always gag when I'm trying to clean the back of my tongue. And it freaking worked! So that tip actually has some non-sexual uses too. lol

As far as her "friend" Julia goes, I really disliked her. I can't believe how much she tries to pressure her into being okay with her (Julie) hooking up with Ashley's stepbrother. It's like girl code. Everyone knows that. Don't be a bitch.

But when it comes to Ashley and Ethan, they are cute and sexy together. I hope this series ends up with them finding a way to have a HEA. They're so cute. Ethan is definitely arrogant, but I still like him. He has a caring side too and his arrogance only makes those caring moments more special.

Overall I enjoyed this follow up and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next with these two. I don't like the writing style, but the story and steam is good enough to look past it (for now).

While you can start with this part, I would recommend part 1 first just so you have some context for where the story is at.

Hot and steamy, a bargain has been struck and now Ashley and Ethan can play. CJ Bloom does a great job with Ashley’s perspective. I could easily put myself into her younger than me mindset. I was thereby able to put myself into Ashley’s shoes. James Cavenaugh does a great job with embodying the quintessential college horny guy that thinks of nothing but getting it on as many times as possible.

If you like your smut short and steamy, give this a listen. I received a free copy of this book via Cherrylily ARCs and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I have no shame in admitting how much fun I had reading this. The book picked up straight off from where the last one ended and it felt as though we dived into the next part of this story very easily. Ashley had made her mind up on the deal and these two wasted no time getting to it! Now, I had a huge problem with the shaving scene and felt it was pretty problematic and throughout I did struggle with what felt like a power imbalance and how certain things took persuading for Ashley which was quite uncomfortable reading.

This one was certainly more spicey and there was plenty more character development. Everything still felt pretty simple and I still felt as though there wasn't much depth to Ethan but there were signs of a little more and it became clear where we could see things going in the up and coming books. I found parts of Ashley's character to be fairly relatable and real and her naiveite and doubts came across very real. It was fun to see a new character added to the story which gave us more storyline and slowly moved us away from the smut for a little to include emotion.

I will probably carry on with this story because honestly... I just simply find it fun.

I wasn't so sure about continuing the series after reading book one but decided reading the second book couldn't hurt. They're short books after all. In reading this book, the series started to redeem itself. This is where Ashley and Ethan's night goes from a huge mistake to the start of something mutually satisfying. Although both are still unsure of their decision, they decide they'll do this for a week and one week only - until their parents get home. Incidentally, it's also the start of them possibly getting along for the first time.

General note:
Ethan is crass and vulgar. He has a predilection for using the f-bomb and talking dirty. If this offends you, this is probably not the series for you. This being said, he also has a sweetness to him he does well to hide but for with Ashley.

Ashley is intelligent and spreading her sexual wings, so to speak. She's still not sure she's doing the right thing, but it feels so good. Plus, she might be starting to feel something for Ethan...

One thing that's really stood about about this series is how directly Ethan talks to the reader as if in a conversation with and/or reacting to them. I'm not sure I exactly like this approach to writing, but it hasn't put me off either. Prepare to be sworn at repeatedly and told to mind your own f**king business. Ashley doesn't do this so much. She's technically talking to the reader as well, but it doesn't feel like it so much. It's not in your face like with Ethan. It's not so much her interacting with the reader as it is a narrative. I tend to like this approach more, but I love reading Ethan's chapters and finding out what's going on in his head.

Ashley and Ethan - 2 . . .

Once again Ashley wants to talk about their rules. She needs rules. Rule #1 is that this will only last for a week. His Rule #2 is that when he tells her to come to him, she must. She thinks it is flirty (but I would definitely scratch that one out as domination which I cannot abide). Then she climbs into the shower with him. Then he adds Rule #3 that she can change her mind, not just now but whenever she chooses. And she added Rule #4 that he can as well. And with Rule #5, he is going to teach her something new. This is just for a week, she remembers. And he adds Rule #6 that this is to be fun and she needs to tell him if it isn’t. And this time she won’t get tipsy to be with him. Rule #7 is to tell him the truth when he asks about her experience level so that he can help her. What she has done doesn’t matter; what matters is what she wants to do. And he kisses her.

The story line is interesting, but the best part is the way they are starting to really care about each other. They talk freely, listen to what the other says, and try to improve the experience they share. He asks her for honesty, and he gives her the freedom to change her mind at any time. So along with the bond that pulls them together, they are sealing the deal with trust. Neither wants to mention the “L” word, but it still lurks there in their intentions.

The Audible version was narrated by: CJ Bloom and James Cavenaugh. They continue to do a good job and bring life into the story as they take on the personalities of the main characters. I look forward to continuing on with the next part of the story.

Second installment in the Stepbrother with Benefits series. I enjoyed this continuation of the story as Ashley decides to take Ethan up on the offer of being her stepbrother with benefits for the week their parents are gone. I especially appreciated the creation of the rules of their fling. I felt like these were fun and illustrated the personalities of Ethan and Ashley so well. The narrators continue to do a good job. The characters continue to speak to the reader/listener during the narration, breaking the 4th wall. Hot and spicy short read/listen.

I received a copy of the book from the author, but my review is entirely voluntary and honest.

"I'm not a car, Ethan," I say, laughing. "Nah, I know" he says. "I'm still gonna ride the fuck out of you though, Princess."

Said by my current fictional boyish obsession. Another great book. Ethan never fazes to disappoint and all I want is more more more of him. I think I liked this one even better than the first one. The sex scenes were better, more descriptive and a lot more captivating.

I liked when the friend came over and they were in the other room being too loud (LOL) and Ethan shouts like..go get some milk or something. That had me cracking up.

Ashley isn't as good as she claims to be. Not at all.

Some of my favorite things about this series so far and this author.

*The author writes like she's speaking directly to an audience, her readers. I love that
*She started the second book right where she left off in the first one
*ETHAN ETHAN and more Ethan
*I have never read a book by this author before this and the one before it, and I am completely hooked

I'm ready to get into the third one right away.

I know I said I would not continue with this series, but I decided to give this another try. I still think Ashley talks too much! And she overthinks everything and does a lot of her thinking at the wrong times! I mean, if the sex is that good, should she really be thinking if what her and her stepbrother are doing is right or wrong? Between Ethan and Ashley, they start making more rules for this “benefits” relationship they are going to have. I believe Ashley and Ethan both think that if they have all these rules, it will end after a week (rule #1) and they will go on their merry little way!

The scenes are hot, you have some jealousy, lots of rules, and 2 stepsiblings that shouldn’t worry about what everyone thinks – they are not blood related! I’m anxious to see how long it takes for both Ashley and Ethan to realize they really do care about each other! I am looking forward to reading the next book as I really don’t like to leave a series incomplete. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

My favorite quotes:
Rule #2 – When I tell you to come here, you come here.

"We're going to play a game", I tell her. "Ethan", she says, whimpering, batting her eyelashes at me. Yeah, f*ck, she just batted her eyelashes at me. I'm going to die.

I liked this slice of life. It was entertaining and enjoyable even though it's more like an episode of a TV show than a book. A book to me has a distinct beginning, middle, and end while this book just stopped. The characters were interesting and you got to hear from both of them. The agreement that was made in the previous episode/book continues. Ashley asks Ethan for things that he doesn't do. Ethan tells Ashley that he doesn't do them, but for some reason, he wants to please Ashley so he ends up doing them anyway.

I thought the story was interesting but I wanted more. The narrators did an excellent job, especially because of the way the story is written, it's as if the characters were talking directly to you as the listener (or reader). It's smutty and short but good. I recommend listening to this audiobook (or reading the ebook).

Ashley & Ethan

If you haven't guessed each book is a chapter in the stepsibling's sexual relationship. Ethan is supposed to be a bad boy, at least that's what we're told. In my opinion, he's just a douche. He sleeps with Ashley and then lets her friend rub up on him immediately after; while thinking he needs to make sure Ashley doesn't get attached and could using her friend be the way to do that. I rolled my eyes so hard.

He's also somehow a sex expert at his age. I guess he's gained a lot of skills from all the sleeping around. And again, their differences are described as him being a jock and her being smart. Although, we have no evidence of that.

I was hoping the series was going to get better, so I decided to read this second novelette. I'm still deciding if I'll read one more before giving up. If nothing else the sex scenes aren't horrible.

"Left hand, Ashley. If you squeeze your left thumb, it helps stop your gag reflex. You can take a lot more in that way."

So again..cringy the way the author talks to the audience. You'll see what I mean when you read it. I can't explain it. But its teaching me some things about sex that I didn't know so I'm not complaining. As always, Ethan and his dirty mouth is driving me crazy and the way he thinks about her, the way he treats her, the way he talks to her, I'm jealous. How unrealistic is it to find a guy like that? Just saying. Of course he's still an asshole so that makes it a bit more realistic and it's obvious he loves her so that makes all of it more entertaining. The sex scenes are great but wish there were more and wish they were just a bit more descriptive. Four stars.

This one picks up right where the last one left off, keeping the same narrator-character-talking-to-the-reader vibe from the first book. If that’s your thing—like it is for me—you’re going to enjoy this!
It’s smutty, funny, and just a lot of fun overall! That’s the whole point of these, right? I like listening to these smutty little novella pallet cleansers between my heavier reads! The narrators do a fantastic job embodying their characters, making the whole experience feel more well realistic (not the perfect word, but you know what I mean!). This ends with a cliffhanger, just like the first one did as well!

Ok, I was not sure after book (more like episode) 1, but now I'm sure... I get very tired of this constant mind babble and repetitions, and all this constant guessing and back and forth... The other problem is the amount of word filler ("right", "I know", "does it?", etc.). Urgh... So I'll be stopping listening at this episode.
I don't mind the constant swearing, nor the step-brother romance. It's just the writing style that doesn't work with me.
As for the story, there is still not really any character growth. So it's more a smut story that anything else...

This is book 2 in Clark's Step Brother with Benefits series. The story between Ethan and Ashley continue where book 1 leaves off as they navigate this agreement of "with benefits". Rules are being made and we as readers/listeners are picking up on the hints that emotions may just be coming into play. Well written, short and steamy - a fun erotic listen with perfect narration - I mean seriously - I love these narrators!

Part two picks up right where one leaves off. This whole piece is basically just sex scenes, with one scene in between where Ashley’s friend comes by. Ashley is still getting comfortable with the arrangement. Physically, she’s learning plenty about her body (anyone else learn about the thumb trick for the first time?). But she’s also clearly struggling with the morality of hooking up with Ethan. I’m already tired of hearing her say she’s sleeping with her stepbrother, so I hope she accepts it soon.

I officially love Ash and Ethan.

If these two aren’t endgame, I don’t know what is one anymore. The chemistry is crazy. The feels are new and conflicting and cute. They are very adventurous and free with each other. It shows that when you find a partner - whether it is temporary or not - and you’re confident with them, the intimacy just works.

I did enjoy the little jealousy arc and I also get the insecurities Ash has with her feelings. Ethan wondering what his are. And yes, some things were a little predictable, but I still want more.

I LOOOOOVVVVVEEEE this series! The writing style is excellent! The story line flows nicely and the sex scenes are written so perfectly. Some books are too much sex, not enough story or visa versa but this series is right on. Mia Clark builds up the perfect amount of tension and then progresses to the brink of pleasure. There is the perfect amount of details. The perfect mix of emotions. I could not love this series more!
