3.5⭐️ This was a fun paranormal book set in a mountain town in Colorado. the MCs, Devin and Courtney, were both interesting characters, especially Devin who grew up in the ghost town of Greenville. Courtney was a cop, who had met Devin 15 years ago in college. Bea an 81 year old woman who lives up in the mountains was my favorite character, she rescues Gail and her daughter. Bea leads them down the mountain to Greenville and they made the story much more interesting for me.
Molly was an added bonus to the ghost story, she was a surprise ro me.
I'm a huge fan of Gerri Hill, and this book was another smooth and easy read.

The title, The Ghosts of Greenville, is very fitting because the ghosts truly take center stage. Unfortunately, that also means the romance takes a back seat for much of the story.
The constant paranormal activity doesn't just drive the plot—it also gets a bit in the way of the romance sometimes. The two main characters barely get any time together, which was a bit disappointing. Especially since their one intimate encounter from fifteen years ago is built up so much throughout the book. I was expecting fireworks when history repeated itself, but instead it was little more than a fade-to-black moment.
The ghost story itself was engaging and genuinely creepy at times, although it became a bit chaotic toward the end.
The ending was quite happy, though also slightly implausible. But of course, that can happen with a paranormal book. 😉

The Ghosts of Greenville
I am a huge Gerri Hill fan! She's one author that I would want to read ALL her books, but also don't want to because I don't want to run out of her books to read. And I don't even know why that's an issue because I have re-read most of her stuff a. lot. of. times!!
This new one is so good - again, wanted to breeze through it in a day, but also wanted to make it last. Thrilling, exciting, creepy, heartwarming, and at times, infuriating (sometimes I wish I could 👊 a character). By the end, I was on the edge of my seat!

I am so glad Gerri Hill is back, it was a long while since her last book. When I first saw this one, I thought it was going to be a comeback for CJ and Paige - since they're the ones with ghosts in the "Gerri Hill Universe" - but this one was fine too. I liked this one, mainly because it is written by Gerri Hill, she is on my shortlist of must-read authors. The story building, the pacing, especially how all the characters started connecting and then Molly, it was all really good and well-written, obviously.
But I also didn't overly enjoy this one and that is because of the many POVs - I feel like when there are many POVs, the focus on the MCs, is usually less deep. And that was the issue for me here. It was still a good read.

Wouldn't have guessed this story
This had twists,surprise characters and surprise mysteries. The question is.... Are ghosts real? This is definitely worth the read! Gerri Hill doesn't disappoint.

Devin Green and her brother, Michael, run an old hotel, cafe, and saloon, in the mountains of Colorado in a small town called Greenville. The town is considered a ghost town with evidence to support the name. Every year they shut down for the winter the week prior to anniversary of a deadly 1800s fire. This year they receive a reservation for a party of a three for that week and decide to stay open one week longer than usual.
Kayla Rankin, a writer, and her husband Joey have made the reservation at the Greenville haunted hotel to gather research for a book. Joey's sister, Courtney Rankin, is a detective in Colorado Springs, and she is suspended for a month due to an incident with her police partner. Courtney decides to tag along for the week's activities in Greenville. When Courtney and her family arrive at the hotel, Courtney quickly realizes that Devin is the woman that she had an incredibly memorable one-night stand with fifteen years ago during the end of their college careers.
During the same timeframe, Gail Moretti and her daughter Katie leave her abusive husband, Tony, unbeknownst to them, with stolen diamonds. They leave Cripple Creek, ditch a vehicle, and then begin hiking in the Colorado mountains. They eventually get lost and are rescued by eighty-one-year-old Bea Jost, and her dog Cody, who leads them to Greenville.
Molly is the hotel's aging innkeeper and like a grandmother to Devine and Michael. Molly can also see and talk with the ghosts who haunt the hotel and saloon. Molly also knows that the spirits are getting restless as the fire's anniversary approaches.
This book covers several genres including horror, mystery, and romance. Not being a typical horror genre reader, I make an exception for Gerri Hill books. This was an incredibly well-crafted story that merged multiple storylines into the events that eventually unfold in Greenville on the anniversary of the 1800s fire. The events are surreal and dreamlike, yet the characters work together to battle good versus evil and hope for the best to prevail. In addition to the events that unfold around the anniversary, Devine and Courtney reunite amid all of the bizarre ongoings in the town. Although the romance is secondary, there was a strong connection between these two characters that came to life during the story.
Overall, this was brilliant story by Gerri Hill with very creative storytelling. As I was reading this book, I was constantly amazed that an author who can make a reader cry reading "The Apple Diary" or "The Secret Pond", that can have a reader contemplating who-dun-it while reading "Red Tide at Heron Bay", can also write this horror masterpiece. Gerri Hill is truly a very diverse author. 5 🌟stars

The Ghosts of Greenville is a story full of ghosts that just needs to be read around a campfire at night with everyone wrapped in blankets and sipping hot chocolates. I really really enjoyed this one.

I am always happy to read a Gerri Hill novel. And if it is a paranormal suspense, all the better. Especially when it is genuinely creepy.
Devin and Michael Green own an abandoned mining town in the Colorado mountains. They open up the hotel and cafe for summer hikers and fishing groups. Their last guests of the season include Courtney Rankin, a police detective on administrative leave, and her brother Joey and wife Kayla. Kayla is looking hoping the ghost town gives her inspiration for a novel.. It turns out Courtney and Devin had an unforgettable one night stand fifteen years ago while in college. Three more arrive in town seeking safety. Bea is a delightful 81 year old who loves the mountains and Gail who is escaping an abusive marriage with her young daughter.
The town is indeed haunted. There are stories about bells ringing at the church, footsteps on the upper floor of the hotel. And of course a saloon piano that plays occasionally. And don’t forget grandma like Molly, who actually interacts with the spirits. Everything is leading up to the anniversary of a fire that burned down half the town in the 1800s. What will happen this year?
This was such a fun adventure. A second chance romance is a small part of the plot but adds to it. I liked the legends and how they play into the story. And the modern day peril works as well. The pace is fast with the story taking place in less than a week. There isn’t a lot of character development but I knew something about every person. There is some repetition as events have to be explained to others who weren’t experiencing them. I did find the ending to be predictable but Hill ties up things nicely. Thank you to the author and Bella Books for the eARC and I am leaving an honest review.

Gerri Hill brings us up into the mountains of Colorado to the isolated and sparsely populated ghost town of Greenville: I loved the setting, the scenery, the close-knit community and the characters.
Against this backdrop an unusual genre mix which was fun to read is unfolding: a slow-burn, second-chance romance, a large pinch of suspense and a paranormal ghost story.
Devin Green has deep roots in Greenville. 80 year old Bea, my favorite character, has a deep love for her cabin high-up in the mountains. Their love for the secluded mountains and in Devin‘s case also for the town are the steady heartbeat of the story.
Courtney tags along when her brother and his wife, a writer collecting material for a book, visit the town. Lo and behold Devin is her magic one night stand from back when and the one who got away. this has all the elements for a great read .... and it hits the spot just right ... with the hauntings and the ghosts but it was the people that made you continuing reading... it was their stories that gripped you as they all came together in the town
where the man was threatening to kill his wife and daughter and for what... for escaping him
and it was how as the people came together and they fought to stay safe and get through whatever was happening around the town with the anniversary that saw ghostly going on more than normal
well why wasnt i going to lose a night sleep reading this one to see how it ended.... i was gripped enough that i didnt want to sleep plus it was about ghosts and did i really want to sleep....
but ohhh man it was a great read and i am fast becoming a big fan of this author...cant wait for the next book

I hadn't read any Gerri Hill before so decided it was time to broaden my horizons. What better way than to read about ghosts.
The start of the book I found a bit disjointed - there were a number of stories and characters being introduced in relatively quick succession with no obvious connections other than they were all going to (presumably) end up in Greenville. But I persevered, and it paid off.
The main action is all centred around Greenville - a literal ghost town. The hotel stays open for an extra week at the end of the season as they had guests who wanted to book then as one of them wants to do research for a ghost/horror story - and maybe they wished they had chosen another week to visit.
The second half of the book, when the stories all came together and the action was happening was good. The strands played out well together and you could see what was going to happen with each character before it hit.

Gerri Hill is one of my favorite authors but ghost stories are not for me.
I also felt the writing was very different from her usual style. This felt very juvenile. The romance was mild and surprisingly with no chemistry even though they were supposed to have this magnetic attraction.
The ghost stuff was scary...if ghost stuff scares you.

Loved this book
As usual, I loved this book. Caricatures in the book were deep a diverse in age and view points. The romance was beautiful. The only problem I have
is that I can't put tbe.book down and am too quickly finished.. I look forward to the next one!

This book feels more like a ghost story where the two main characters just happen to be lesbians. Nonetheless, it's still a great read. It's the kind of haunted story Gerri Hill does best, creepy enough to send chills down your spine, but balanced with plenty of witty banter. I just wish there had been more of Devin and Courtney. I think if you like the TV series Ghosts, you'll enjoy this book.

This was my first Horror book, and first read by author Gerri Hill. I really enjoyed this book. The ghosts were fun and scary. I enjoyed the characters stories also, the main character was strong and sensitive to the others and the situation. The romance was also nice, both characters knowing and accidently both waiting for each other was sweet.

This surprised me because it came with so many characters, which is uncommon for a Gerri Hill story. More characters meant that they were a little more superficial than usual, but the story was still interesting and thrilling

Ahh..Gerri and Abby together again, YESSS!!
I had such a blast reading tGoG because Gerri knows how to write some chills in my fav genre - horror/supernatural!! She hadn't written anything supernatural for a while so I was positively thrilled when this book was announced. As always, Gerri never disappoints! Needless to say, tGoG is a pure, unadulterated ghost story. I ate it up in one seating!
Now with Abby bringing all the characters to life (no pun intended!) with Gerri's signature humour, camaraderie, romance, [underrated] action sequences and richly descriptive scenes, makes this brilliantly weaved ghost story feel all the more acute!
Gerri's story performed by Abby = always perfection. End of. I'm looking forward to their next collab (hopefully!)!
