Forging Without Limits #2
Infinite Forge 2
Winter comes to Dunmore. The forge runs hotter. The work gets stranger.
Edric Moss has been an apprentice for five months and the system keeps generating new vocabulary to describe what he makes. A mill that learns its grain before it arrives at the stones. Pipes that anticipate the freeze before it happens. A wall that already knows what it is. And a pair of tongs made from a dwarven alloy held in trust for two hundred years, waiting for a pool large enough to work it.
Then Solan Greyforge arrives. The best blacksmith in the world. He comes with a notebook, a week's worth of careful observation, and forty-four years of techniques to pass on. What he finds in the Dunmore workshop is something he has been moving toward his whole career without knowing it.

My reviews are my own. If you enjoyed this book, I’m glad you did. If not, I respect your opinion, so please respect mine. This is simply my view, so let's keep it courteous. My review is honest and voluntary.
I enjoyed the slower pace of the first book because it worked well as an introduction to the world and its characters. Going into this installment, though, I expected the story to expand a bit more. I was hoping to see the characters travel in search of rare materials or take on more unique commissions. Instead, it felt like they were simply repeating the same formula as the first book and all he does is for that town and only that town. I enjoyed the Greyforge arrival and it is more of what I was expecting, collaborations and unique work that provides new learning opportunities. I also hope he doesn't start making weapons. What is the point of having a special "power" only to help ONE town. He didn't even offer tools for his own dad. I understand not using his craft to make others rich and using it to help people, but only people in that town? I will not work for a noble house either.
I also wasn't a fan of the impertinent kid who came to visit. I ended up skipping most of that section. I also found it odd that his entire family stayed at the apprentice's home. That didn't feel believable to me, especially given the apprentice's role. At times, it almost felt like "Bring Your Family to Work" would have been a more fitting title for this installment.
Another issue for me was the introduction of a romance innuendos. I would have preferred the apprentice to remain focused on learning his craft. Personally, I don't see the appeal of adding romance to crafting or adventure stories when it doesn't meaningfully contribute to the main plot. In this case, it felt more like a distraction than an enhancement.
Overall, I'm not sure if I want to continue the series. There were simply too many aspects of this book that didn't work for me. Don't get me wrong—the writing is still solid, and I can see why others might enjoy it. This installment just wasn't for me. I found it repetitive, predictable, and, ultimately, a bit boring.
On to my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!

Loved it-but….
As always, an awesome story where we find the tension in the building and in the relationships between people. The but is in the beginning of the book where Grayforge shows his hammer and his tongues and shows how worn they are. He brings out materials that has been in his family for 200 years and asks Edric to make him new tools. Somewhere in the middle of the forging, they switch from Grayforge’s to his. This glitch in the matrix caught me every time that Edric used the tools because in all of his memories about the years and where the materials came from, they literally weren’t his. But as I said, awesome book and I’m off to read the next one.

need more action
I really enjoyed the first book of the series, especially after reading so many other fast paced litrpg style books, ones that never stop fighting the monsters. So the first book was a welcome pause, and interesting. Now with the second book I’m wondering if there will ever be any action? I’d like to see a desperate warrior come in, maybe some threat looming on the horizon, and the smith saving the day.

Verbose. Very very verbose.
The author's writing style is painfully verbose in my opinion.
It's like they looked up the word in the dictionary and decided to either use it as a baseline for a new definition or as a weapon to punish the inattentive reader, but yet they somehow make it work in service to their world building and character dialogue. Otherwise, I'd be tapping out on this series right here and now.

A Slow Burn
This series is different. Not bad, just written in a particular style that once you understand and fall into rhythm with becomes something like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold morning. It fills you with warmth and leaves you wanting to savor more of it. Looking forward to seeing the story progress.

A lot more blacksmithing. I love Mara. Much more development of the system of Mana and Blacksmithing. More establishment of Intent. Book also had a lag in the middle. I appreciate the author taking their time with things, although a LOT seems to be happening rather quickly. I am really enjoying this series. I also love the Heron.

Pretty good addition.
The story gets a little bogged down at times with the repetitive writing. But the character development is there and I am interested in were the story takes him. I know this is a slice of life series. But I wonder if the MC will travel into the broader world the Author is creating.

Quietly great.
Starts, slow, and steady. Like an expert fishermen setting the hook. Reals you in, the into the hole story (Like the bout). If you are looking for a relaxing book, look no further!

A series you’ll bookmark
Every now and then I find an author and a series that I thoroughly enjoy reading, that encourages me to pause and reflect and which awes me with gifted writing. Thank you, SixthBell

Liked this
Like this story. Good professional. Light fun and wholesome. Progression without all the killing that comes with a lot of this style of story. Like that it is a story and not just a list of profession. Will be re reading the books in this series.

Good slice of life style
A good place of life story told in an interesting way. I like the writing style and I'm enjoying the series a lot. Maybe could use a little action, but on the other hand that's not what the story is about

Had to force myself to finish
This was not good. It's clearly AI. And it shows. It's mind numbing in how repetitive it is. The plot is mediocre at best and nothing happens. This made me hate AI books more

Very good
This book is well written. I enjoyed how it continued the first book without a full recap. I look forward to the next one.

a good series
A good series to read. Lite on action and with very little intrigue but entertaining. Enjoying a story without all fighting.

A fascinating book about working a forge and growing up. The stats help the characters make sense in their journeys! Definitely recommended!
