I received an ARC of Greyhound – Pull the Trigger, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review. Thank you so much Aileen Carter for sending me this ARC. Aileen is an insta-read author for me! Greyhound was totally different in tone from her previous works, but no less incredible. I was glued to my Kindle from the very first page. I absolutely demolished this book in one sitting, and had an amazing time doing so. If you are a fan of dark romance full of characters brimming with as much charm as they are bloodlust, you will go feral for this book like I did.

🗡The stakes are immediately high the moment we are dropped into this story. I enjoy that we were thrown into the deep end, sucked away by a dangerous tide and pulled under to submerge into this perilous world. Milena was an amazing FMC. She is scrappy, fierce and, above all else, determined for revenge. Despite the burning fire she keeps in her heart for those that have wronged her, she remains cold, calculated and patient throughout. Milena has one goal, and she is intent on completing it, no matter the danger and regardless of how much she surrenders of herself along the way. I was eager to see how far Milena would go to achieve her goals. She readily offers and chips pieces of her soul away, one gruelling day at a time. Her sole focus is revenge. I couldn’t tell if I was terrified of her or obsessed with her.
🗡This is a dark book that is rife with violence, so please make sure to check trigger warnings before diving into this story. I like that Aileen wasn’t afraid to show us the shadows that engulf this world. There is no sugar-coating that only the strongest survive and the rest are discarded. It lent itself well to the plot and solidified the mile-high perils that Milena has to climb. Despite Greyhound’s inherent darkness, there is light in the silence that death leaves behind. There was a found family lingering in amongst all the gloom, and there was no hiding my laughter at their banter and antics. There is a love forged in fire and violence that only they understand. Aileen achieves a good balance between making her characters terrifying but also so likeable. It is akin to every villain you have ever loved. You know their souls are black as night, but like a moth to a flame, we can’t help but be drawn into the group of people who have turned their backs on everything, but each other.
🗡Mikhail was the dual POV of this book, and I have boundless curiosity about who he is and what has led him on this dangerous path, shedding his humanity along the way. Again, Mikhail is a character that has a muddy and blood soaked heart, but is so intriguing and magnetic we can’t help but wait on bated breath for any information he may divulge to reveal who he truly is. Milena and Mikhail have such a captivating story arc. This is a slow burn, which I think is absolutely perfect for this book. There is an undeniable attraction and draw to one another, but due to the grizzly world they live in, they are tenderly poking at each other’s boundaries to reveal the person within. There is mistrust and suspicion, but this only adds intrigue to their stories.
🗡 I am so excited for future instalments of this series, there is so much left to discover and unpack. The journey has truly only just begun, and I look forward to seeing how our found family develops. Greyhound – Pull the Trigger entails everything a dark romance lover could ask for. There is the spark of a romance that promises to engulf everything around it with passionate flames. There is found family and morally black/grey characters in abundance. Pair this with action and high stakes that keep us hurtling through this story, and you find yourself having the best time ever. I wholeheartedly recommend any of Aileen’s books, and I am excited to see how she navigates this shift in genre and tone.

Easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I LOVED Greyhound - Pull The Trigger, it is an amazing military, black-ops, drama romance. The characters are all well developed and highly intriguing. My favourite characters were Milena and Pavel. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and see the characters on their first mission together.
One of the things I loved about the book was the character dynamics and the humour. I found the characters very funny and the way they banter each other and interact is highly entertaining. I thought the length of this book was good as an introduction to the series. The pace was also great and easy to keep up with. Because the book was fast paced, I read it in only three sittings. The fight scenes and action in this book are great, however, there are certain triggers to be aware of prior to reading. These include: attempted rape, mentions of rape, on page violence. I would advise checking all the triggers warnings in the book description and on the author’s website / social media pages.
I am excited to see where the romance goes in this series and how it will unfold between the characters. I also can’t wait to see more of the characters and learn more about their personalities and backstories. I would recommend this book for lovers of action, drama, and military romances, as well as strong female main characters and morally grey characters.

Aileen's writing just keeps getting better! So far, this might be my favorite book by her.
I knew going in that this was a dark romance. It says so in the description, Aileen mentioned it several times in her newsletter, and there's a warning page at the beginning of the book. I've read mafia romances, but I was still surprised at how dark it was. It wasn't overly dark, just something I needed to get used to.
This was an easy read in the sense that the book's plot kept me entertained. I was surprised when I finished a good chunk of the book in one day!
I thought it was refreshing to not have any spice. But I will say there was some romantic tension between Milena and Mikhail when he had his gun under her chin (romantic in a dark kind of way).
I was very impressed at way Milena was able to trap Roman and Pasha. Her drawing on Pasha's face was so funny! Another funny scene was when Pavel was using Milena’s smelly feet on Tolya as payback.
I'm excited to see how the rest of the series will unfold! My only critique is that there 7 members of the Greyhound so it was difficult to keep track of them at times, especially when we were reading Milena's POV because she would give them their own nicknames (i.e. Blue Eyes, Skeleton Mask). Aileen does have a character page in the beginning because the Greyhound members are Russian and it's common in Russian culture to have a formal name and a nickname. I just didn't want to be flipping back and forth to remember "Pavel → Pasha / Pashka".

Bloodhound - Pull the trigger was the first book I’ve read from Aileen Carter. I was skeptical on reading a book like this because I’m usually not one to read dark, military books. But I was hooked from the first page and read it in less than a day! I’m grateful I was able to read the ARC and cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

Interesting
I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this one but it ended up being really good. I liked how prepared Milena was. There were some moments laced with darkness but then humor at the same time. I’m really intrigued about finding out more about her motivations.
