I only read the chapters on the early days of Mossad and the Eichmann kidnapping, which were excellent ... that was all I needed as I do research to help frame out scenes in my new novel

I finished this book last night. It wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, but it is over 30 years old and I am pretty sure that espionage tactics listed within it are seriously out of date. In any case, since I have a more than passing fancy for knowledge about the creation and maintenance of the state of Israel, it was a good look at how they got as far as they did, with much of the world trying to destroy them inthe process.

The book mentions several of my old history friends: Golda Meir, David Ben-Gurion, Levi Eshkol, Menachem Begin, Moshe Dayan and others that I grew up hearing about around the kitchen table in the late 60’s and early to late 70’s, and discusses some of the relationships these people had with each other, Israel and the world. The Mossad is one of the most efficient intelligence services in the world and they have earned their stripes the hard way. We have much to admire them for.

dahsyat, ni buku ngebahas operasi2 rahasia Israel di berbagai macam negara yang terkuak maupun yang gagal (n' I'm sure many of operations still running). Trik-trik agen rahasia Israel yang disebut-sebut lebih hebat dari M16 ataupun CIA sekalipun ini bener2 bikin kita kagum sekaligus ngeri akan dunia intelejen Israel dan apa yang bisa mereka perbuat

This is an old book republished again with corrected contents. The old book contained texts which not in the English version and taken from newspapers and magazines.

I was the one who edited this book.

Maybe not the most rigorous of history, but the research was well done by a team of seasoned journalists. A good read. The epilogue seems not to fit in but is actually a great summary of all.

On the 6th of October 1973, as the noonday sun beat heavily upon the Sinai Peninsula, a great booming was heard to every ear as far as Tel Aviv. Streaking across the sky, heavy projectiles impacted Israeli military emplacements and facilities with explosive fanfare, beginning one of the largest artillery barrages known to all mankind in this modern age.
This barrage marked also the greatest humiliation faced by the once vaunted Israeli intelligence community
5 Years later this book was written.

Whether the aims of Eisenberg and his co-writers are entirely concerned with a patriotic defence of their civil intelligence agency, or it is mere coincidence, it is unlikely Eisenberg will ever make any statement on the matter. He is an enigma, sporting a ghostly internet presence complemented by a handful of journal articles and books to his name. However, regardless of Eisenberg's sentiments, it is beyond doubt that his work takes slants emotively towards Israel. Many horrific and dubious circumstances - such as the false flag bombing operations to discredit Arab nations - are brushed aside to valorise the Jewish saboteurs. An educated reader should be well aware of this bias within a dozen pages of the book, but I thought it essential for such a review as this.

As for amusement, it is found abundantly within this tome. Written with gripping poise, its simple content is quite the match for the man of any intelligence. The romance of spycraft is the envy of every reader, and so shall 'The Mossad' satiate that desire. It is altogether an agreeable read - once it can be accepted as a stilted, narrativized revision of events. Such brazen nationalism can rarely be seen in modern biographical reading, and I find the open bias in many ways a charming diversion compared to the unconscious and confused bias of the modern scholar.

Read this as you will - I would recommend it for a brief entertainment.

I found this book intriguing given its age. I picked up a copy from my parents house and had been eyeing off for some time. It’s an easy brisk read and very interesting. The fact it was published in 1978 makes it more interesting as it is a snap shot in time and yet is strangely still relevant.

Excellent and little known book. If you liked "Rise and Kill First" or excellent stories of espionage and spies you'll love this. They relate several stories (not all with the happiest of endings, BTW) of famous Israeli spies and other hijinks.

Seek out this book, you'll devour it.

Buku yang sangat menarik untuk dibaca, bagaimana israel yang mengandalkan mossad sebagai tulang punggung keamanan negara muda nya yg terhimpit kekuatan-kekuatan besar.

Interesting read on some of the daring operations by Mossad in the 50s, 60s and early 70s, way before the now ubiquitous computer based espionage activities.

This book both insightful and thrilling, leaves the reader struck in awe. The history of Jewish people has not been an easy one. Soon after the forming of their own state of Israel is where the book starts. This books gives the reader access into the thrilling world of Israeli intelligence. The language used is simple, a very matter of fact tone, that adds to the gravity of the story by multi-folds.

If you are looking for thrilling reads, that leave you spellbound, and dazed by the unknown heroes and horrors of the world, this would be one of your best bet.

This book is heavily biased in favor of Israel, but it was very well-written and easy to follow. Some of the stories in there are really fascinating, like the capture of Adolf Eichmann. And the indomitable story of the Mossad agent who nearly became the Syrian Minister of Defense... I mean, come on, that's fucking awesome.

I bet this book has been out-of-print for some time but if you can find it, read it! My parents had a copy lying around and I read it because there's nothing more fascinating than true espionage stories. I killed it during a Chinatown bus ride to New York. Gives proof to the thought that real life is more interesting than fiction...

I really enjoyed this book. What a great read! It was well put together, and very well researched. I couldn't believe how sophisticated the Mossad were for their time. The book was written in 1978 and they would still impress thoroughly if they did everything that they did then - today.

as i read about Elie Cohen, i no longer wonder why they called this intelligence service as one of the best (and the meanest) I.S in the world.
