This is where it all began... And it starts off strong, the adrenaline pumping right off the bat in the prologue! Nadia's fear is like my own, she's fleeing, the witch wars are in full swing and she needs to escape. Ms Delton takes hold of me and doesn't let up until the very end with her powerful storytelling. Just the inference to Stonehenge is brilliant! Her usage of prose is brilliant! Her ease of writing is brilliant! This series is so beautiful, so heartwarming, I love the warmth these stories "infuse" in me, I find myself smiling and wanting to hug someone. I was thrilled to read "the beginnings" of the cottage, how it came about. It was delivered superbly, yet again....

Everything, from pacing to illuminating this magical world just worked for me! I adore the characters, I adore the built up the romance between Hugo and Gala, it felt credible and real. Both Hugo and Gala are exceptional characters but the duchess is my favourite 😂 I loved her outer "hard" shell and her gooey inside, I just adore her. I laughed out loud many a time. Hugo is fantabulous! I just love him to bits, he's so taken with Gala, he's respectful and considerate but so romantic too, how beautiful is this? “I know you wouldn’t want to settle down with someone like me, you’re clever, and kind, and the Omens know you’re a beauty. I just thought… If you want… Maybe when I’m back on the road, we could look at the stars together at night, and I wouldn’t feel so alone. Nothing more.” See? Sigh....

Nadia ends up, somehow, with Gala. Somehow she ends up as Gala's "adopted" daughter and I simply adore their affection for one another. I love how the entire "daughter" thing crept up on Gala, until she was as fiercely protective as a mama bear! And then when she told Nadia, "I’ve never been a mother. I didn’t think I ever would be, but the fright you gave me last night made me realize: family can be found, and you are my family now. And I’m going to do everything I can to protect that.” I was ready to coo in delight! This book is a celebration of life, of joy, all the good that life offers, if we just allow it to.

Though the pacing is slower, it's steady, definitely kept my attention constantly, by lulling me into "tea brewing" scenes and suddenly changing it up with something poignant, something emotional. Loved how the author did that and it all added to my overall enjoyment of the book. The interactions, the banter, is exquisite. This world is so vividly described, I was a willing participant, piggybacking on the characters, experiencing everything they did. Like the teas that Gala infuses, Ms Delton infused something magical with mere words. Besides me wanting to drink copious amounts of various teas, I started a craving for pastries 😂 The found family theme is gorgeous, natural, not forced, and the excellent plot progression kept me riveted, coming all too soon to the end, with the sweetest HEA!!! Absolutely awesome read!

I myself love blending different teas together, each one a unique taste, although, I think I'm going to do "a Nadia" and start writing down which I liked with which! We owe a huge debt to Gala and Nadia, we can thank them for inventing tea bags and paper cups. You didn't know that, did you? Well they did and I'm sticking to that theory...and I'll leave with these very potent words by the duchess. “We have much to be thankful for. Though the seasons turn, reminding us of the darker Omens, we’re always surrounded by love, light, and harmony. And it was my dearest wish to spread that love, light, and harmony to you all with this festival!”

Galantina Grant lives at a cottage at the edge of the woods, preparing tea blends for the citizens of Melodigha. Her craft is famous enough to attract the interest of the Duchess, preparing her usual festival in big style - and this time, Gala gets the heroic task to prepare the perfect tea blend for the party. Knowing the Duchess, it is no easy feat, especially with the distance between the tea shop cotaage and the Duchess' residence, and with the lady's own whims - if she only knew what she exactly wants! On top of this quest, Gala has another mystery on her hands - a young girl that seems to have appeared in her cottage out of nowhere, which seems to be running away from something, and Gala wants to discover her secrets..
This standalone in the series is actually the beginning of the cottage's magical journey, explaining how the humble dwelling turned magical. The story is warm and cozy, highlighting the true meaning of family, using magic for the good of everyone, and having fun moments especially when the Duchess is involved - that woman is like a tornado, born to leave bold first impression. I truly enjoyed reading this story, exploring the places alongside the characters, and getting to know the characters better. It was a nice escape from reality, and I would happily read it again somewhere next to a warm fireplace with a cup of hot tea :)

A delightful finish to this series. Each book in the series is a standalone, but at last we learn the beginnings of this magical cottage. It’s a fun cozy story of found family. And there is an extra treat at the end of a short story from the cat’s perspective.

If you have enjoyed the other books on this series, this is equally as good. If you haven’t, you can start here or read them in the order they were published. Each one stands on its own but invites you back again.
