Since its first printing in 1991, this guide has helped nearly 100,000 cancer patients and their families deal realistically with this serious disease. Now, in addition to the latest information on diagnosis and treatment, this authoritative yet readable reference has been updated with new chapters on cryotherapy, radio frequency treatment, genetic risk assessment, and managed care.
This excellent book is a godsend for people who are dealing with cancer in their own or another lived ones life. This book provides a lot of information on cancer and then has a section on each type of cancer. Each section provides meaningful information in an understandable way on a description of each cancer plus how it develops, details on staging, current treatment options at each stage, along with estimates of 5 year survival. The book really packs a lot of information between the covers. I bought the first one when my dad was going through cancer and found the book so helpful that I bought two additional copies for my local library (one to lend and one to be kept in the research area). I have bought updated copies for the library as well to help other people. It's nice to know that it's always there if I need it for myself or a friend.
The first half of the book explains cancer. The second half Is really an index. Alphabetized by disease, it gives you stages and expectations about particular cancers. Very useful.
