Tempest Raging

Rate this book
Four bestselling full length novels.
An all access backstage pass to the world's most dysfunctional rock band.
Tempest rocking.
Tempest rolling.
Tempest raging out of control.
IRRESISTIBLE REFRAIN
Two years ago everything changed for the remaining members of the Seattle rock band Tempest.
Two years is a long time.
Too long to keep on remembering.
Not nearly long enough to forget.
In trouble with nowhere else to go songstress Lace Lowell seeks refuge with the band during their stop in New York City. It's a risky move for her because they are both there, two impossibly good looking men whose lives are inseparably entwined with hers. One who bruised her heart and one who smashed it into pieces.
Warren “War” Jinkins, the mercurial lead singer of Tempest, has always had a thing for Lace. But then again so does his best friend and band mate.
Bryan “Bullet” Jackson, the sinfully handsome tat-sleeved lead guitarist, has a bad boy reputation befitting his nickname. For the past two years Bullet’s had a rule with the groupies: one time, never twice, leave ‘em satisfied, but always leave ‘em.
Two guys, one woman, and a host of dark secrets all together within the tight confines of a tour bus as the group travels cross country.
Can the past be forgotten and buried?
Will friendships prevail?
Or will the three of them succumb to seductive impulses too addictive to resist?
ENTICING INTERLUDE
To the talented vocalist Justin Jones, love is merely a game that he plays by his own rules.
But to Bridget Dubois, love and heartache are one and the same.
Broken too many times before, the delicate beauty keeps her emotions carefully concealed. Bridget has her own set of rigid rules when it comes to men. She prefers to avoid them altogether, especially dangerously seductive auburn haired emerald eyed players like Justin.
But the new lead singer of the rising rock band Tempest doesn't like to be ignored. Justin is used to getting what he wants, and now he’s set his sights on Bridget.
Suddenly, it’s no longer a game.
What do you do when the one you can’t have turns out to be the one you can’t live without?
As the pressure builds, will it temper them or will it shatter them both like fragile crystal?
CAPTIVATING BRIDGE
Warren “War” Jinkins is that guy.
The bad one.
Tempest’s ex front man, an arrogant rock god.
The only thing larger than his ego is his capacity for self-destruction.
His bad attitude has cost him. His woman. His best friend. His band. Everything.
Shaina Bentley is that girl.
The good one.
Hollywood’s pink candy-coated sweetheart.
The star of Pinky Swear, television’s top rated teen show.
She’s been practically perfect since that horrible day. But she’s starting to crack under the strain of being everything to everyone.
He’s a one man island. She’s a fragile captive soul.
Is love a current too dangerous to cross or will it be the bridge that brings them together?
RELENTLESS RHYTHM
The one she really wants is out of reach.
The one he really needs is already taken.
Dizzy Lowell, rhythm man for the rising rock band Tempest is a wizard on the guitar and a wonder with women. But the hookup specialist hides his emotional scars beneath his suave exterior. He never lets anyone truly touch him.
April Reynolds, the confident bartender of the Diamond Mine, knows her way around a cocktail, but Dizzy has her all mixed up. She knows what’s safe. She’s tired of settling, though. It would be so easy to fall under his spell.
Except for that ring around her finger.
Two searching souls separated by a thin metal band.
Some dreams are dangerous.
Some secrets shouldn't be shared.
Sometimes what we wish for most can never be.

This was a wonderfully entertaining series. Sexy rock stars and the women they fall for.

While telling the tale of love amidst rock & roll and fame, the author touches on important subject with each story. From addiction to depression to abuse; the story lines are emotional, impacting and touching.

Books 1-4 are great individual stories that take the reader down various paths of life. The music is the underscore that strings them all together. The messy lives of real people allows the reader a glimpse inside the world of rock and roll through the well developed characters.

Where to even start?

I read each book individually and loved them all. Each featuring one of the very sexy, very passionate members of Tempest, I was simply blown away at how well written these books truly are.

Each one better than the last.

Irrestible Refrain:

The love triangle between Bryan Jackson, Lace Lowell and War was so emotional, so beautifully written and had me both smiling and heartbroken many times throughout this book. The author took a very serious subject matter and gave it life without being judgmental or condescending in any way.

Enticing Interlude:

This book is a step above most rocker books. The love that drives each of the characters, whether by blood or friendship, is a thread that connects them all. They care about each other, stand by each other and know when to call each other out. They are real. The author gets you involved in the story from the very first page and soon you wish you could be a part of this tight knit crew.

Captivating Bridge:

What a great storyline. Truth be told, I didn't care much for War Jinkins. The fact that he let Lace get so messed up in Irresistible Refrain (Book 1 in the Tempest series). I never thought he deserved her but there was always something about him that intrigued me. I wanted to know what made him be the man he had become. He had such loving friends and he acted like such an ass on more than one occasion. I thought for sure he was past any kind of real redemption.

Relentless Rhythm:

This is Dizzy Lowell's story. The sexy, rhythm guitarist for Tempest. The love 'em and leave 'em guy who doesn't keep a woman for more than 15 minutes. Who only has love for his sister Lace and for his band, when they aren't knee-deep in drama. But this man, who harbors secrets that makes him not want to get close to any one woman, can't seem to get a beautiful brown-haired beauty, out of his mind. And that scares him. April Reynolds is married and very off limits. Yet there is something in the way she carries herself, the way she reacts to others, especially while bartending at the band's hangout, the Mine, that has Dizzy very interested in knowing April more. He senses a hurt deep inside her. One that he knows all too well. And our Rhythm Man will stop at nothing and no one to get closer to the woman who could rock his world to it's core, possibly destroying both of them in the process.

An absolute incredible set of books that you will not want to miss.

A huge 5+++ and well worth your time!!

4 REALLY Good Stories!

What a series!
Irresistible Refrain. Bryan, Lace and War. I liked this one,but it's not my favorite. I'll get to that one later. Lace is really messed up. She lets men, including War use her, when all she really wants is Bryan. The author does a fabulous job with the drug addiction mentioned through this storyline. She doesn't make it glamorous. States the truth.
Enticing Interlude Justin (Avery's twin brother) Bridget. Blown away! Poof! This one's not as dark as the first one in this series, but it keeps your interest. Kinda hard to put down. And that ending. I'm just glad the whole series is already written.
Captivating Bridge. War & Shaina. I LOVE War! Warren Jinkins. He's almost hard to love, almost. Once you get past his exterior you'll find out why so far,he's my favorite. And so is his story.
Relentless Rhythm .Dizzy (Lace's older brother) & April. I did like their story, but after reading War's story, kinda feel let down by Dizzy. Don't get me wrong,it's WORTH reading. I guess I'm just in love with War still . Lol.

I loved this box set! This is the first four books of Tempest Rock Star series, there are 6 books total in the series (one for each band member). These are full length and their stories take time to unfold. Not insta-love, but real relationships. The band is a family and are all from the same neighborhood where each member has their own struggles. Lots of background given to the characters, not all of it easy to read. Their roads to HEA are not easy, they are long and took time but draw you in and capture your heart. I didn't have the money to buy the next two books in the series, but I bought them anyway because I had to read the rest of this family's stories!! I highly recommend!

DNF wtf did I just read. This is why I hate love triangles. The h is in love with one guy who has already told her he loves her back but she says yes when presented with a ring by her boyfriend that she doesn’t love? Nope nope nope.

LOOOOOOVE THIS SERIES!!! And now a box set, its like Christmas!

I am a huge fan of the Tempest Series. I devoured each of these books when I first read them. I loved the different characters and their unique troubles, personalities, feelings, dilemmas and complexities. Every book gives us a different male lead from the band and you fall in love with every single one of them.

If I had to choose I think I loved War's (Captivating Bridge) and Dizzy's (Relentless Rhythm) the most and here is why:
In Captivating Bridge after reading the first two books I knew War’s story was going to be a rough one. And Oh my god it was a doozy. My heart was shredded by this book. War has lost everything, his friends, his band, his woman and his mom. He reaches his limit and is at a point where he feels like there is nothing left for him. That is until he meets Shaina a tiny irrational firecracker, that is insistent on helping War fight his demons. But Shaina is battling darkness of her own and soon realizes that maybe War is the key to saving herself as well. There were so many amazing moments in this book. The touching moments between War and Shaina will melt you into a puddle of mushy gushy love. Mankin gives War such depth in character that you can’t help but feel for him with every fiber of your being. He is so broken yet redeemable, cruel but protective, hateful yet vulnerable. You can clearly feel the struggle of his character. My heart broke for him and everytime he showed a vulnerability I fell in love with him even more.

In Relentless Rhythm I fell completely head over heels for Dizzy Lowell, he is the sexiest Rhythm Man you will ever meet. Dizzy Lowell is not a relationship person, dealing with some very deep emotional scars from his past he cringes at the slightest touch from a woman. Always engaging in meaningless unfeeling sex with random hookups he has never really wanted more. Until he sets his eyes upon April. A bartender at the club Mine, she is unlike all others. Strong, desirable and no-nonsense, Dizzy can’t escape the lure of her. But there is one little problem in the way in the shape of a small band on April’s beautiful finger. This book was equally intense. Mankin has a unique ability of making her characters come to life. These characters become your family or your best friend, so much so that every emotion portrayed in the story becomes your own. Dizzy shines in this story. He is the ultimate protector and devoted lover in Relentless Rhythm. His flirtatious banter will have you blushing and giddy and his skills in the bedroom will have you weak in the knees just from reading. Dizzy’s vulnerability makes him even more amazing in this story, his life has been hard and despite what has happened to him he has always remained true and dedicated to his sister, his friends and now April. His past is utterly heartbreaking but his survival is nothing short of admirable. Both Dizzy and April are such resilient characters in this book and all you can do is root for their happy ending one that will allow them to flourish in the love they can both provide each other, a love they both desperately need.

I love this series, it holds a special place in my heart. There are so many rocker type series out there but I can’t think of any that delve so deep into the human psyche like Mankin’s. The stories of these characters are raw and powerful. The obstacles they have to overcome are daunting and their desire to survive and rise above their past is amazing. Trust me this box set will not leave you disappointed.

Book #1- Irresistible Refrain -
This book is the first in a new series and it totally delivered! Mankin you rock! After reading the first series, which I loved by the way, I can honestly tell you that Mankin poured her all in this book, she held nothing back. This book is raw, real, rocking, drug inducing with real emotion and real life pain. The three main characters: War, Bryan, and Lace, all grow up together as friends. War and Bryan are the best of friends, more like brothers. As they grow up both War and Bryan fall in love with Lace, each in his own way, but only one can have her, who will it be? Lace is a complex and flawed little girl in a woman's body, she is Cinderella waiting for her Prince Charming,so who will be the one....War or Bryan? Read the book and the rocking drama will unfold.

Book #2 - Enticing Interlude -
I love, love Michelle Mankin! She is such an amazing writer! This newest book will not disappoint, it is packed with a sexy rocker, a sweet love interest, it will make you laugh, cry, and keep you craving more. I just love where Mankin is going with these Tempest guys. In this book we really get a background look into the mind of Justin and his true thoughts and feelings. I love the newest character Bridget and her son a Carter, these two will really melt your heart. This book is highly addictive, I could not put it down.

Book #3 - Captivating Bridge -
This is War's story, his voice.
In this book War will unveil himself to you. War is a complex character, he definitely has a heart, to hurt as bad as he does, that means he has to care first, he hides behind a facade of not caring to protect himself, it's his armor, his shied.
Shania seems all sweet, cute, made of cotton candy sweet fluff..but there is more to her, she hides behind all the teen pink fluff to protect herself. In reality she is very strong and pretty confident.
They both have a lot in common..she sees it first..they both want to fix each other. They are both hurting, both feel some deep rooted pain.
War and Shania are each walking around with half a heart but together make a whole.
Shania's family keep her locked away, War keeps himself locked away. Can these two complex characters bridge their hearts together? Read this book and experience the intensity!

Book #4 - Relentless Rhythm -
This book is about forbidden love, about wanting something that is out of your reach. From the moment they meet, Dizzy sees thru the tough exterior front that April hides behind & he is intrigued by what is she hiding.
Dizzy recognized in April what he experienced himself, and he wants to protect her, be there for her, and he can't fix the past but he definitely wants to fix her future.
They both understand pain and both deserve a better future, but will that future be together? The metal band that she wears is that only barrier for the forbidden passion that they feel. The relationships in this book are the common thread in all of Mankin's books, she creates characters that you simply love and feel real emotions for them right from the start. This book will really make you wonder what happens when you marry the wrong person? What do you do when you feel trapped in marriage? April & Dizzy both deserve a better future and as you read this book you will be hoping for a breakthrough to their happiness.

Irresistible Refrain - It was a couple of chapters before I really got into this story but once I did, I loved it. The triangle of Lace/Bryan/War is intriguing and full of angst which started in their childhood. I enjoyed how this story unfolded.
Enticing Interlude - The story of Justin & Bridget. This wasn't as angsty as the first book but I loved Justin & Bridget as a couple. They were so good for each other and I loved how protective Justin was of Bridget. All in all a beautiful story.
Captivating Bridge - I was thrilled to get Warren's side of the story. He came off as a bit of a jerk in the first book but in this instalment, you understand why he is the way he is and your heart bleeds for him (okay, mine did). His love for Shaina was all consuming and I was happy for him to realize his feelings for Lace weren't what he thought especially when compared to how he felt for Shaina.
Relentless Rhythm = Another great instalment. Love Dizzy, his persistence with April, his devotion to her and just him in general. Great series!

Hot, Sexy, & Romantic Box Set!!!!

Where do I start? This is one of the best series I have read by far. It has become one of my favorite. Each book in the series features a different band member in the rock group Tempest. Each band member comes with his own personal demons he must overcome and find the true love he sometimes wasn't looking for.
Michelle Mankin has become one of my favorite authors in just a small amount of time. Her edgy subject matter and lyrical writing is amazing. I can always count on her to convey that love does conquer all. These are some of the best happily ever afters you will ever read. I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in the series and see what she has in store for us next.

Gritty rockstars to love

I originally discovered this series/author on Kindle Unlimited. I really enjoyed each book in this collection and they all offer something different. The band camaraderie and relationships/past is very interesting. Each hero and heroine is unique with an intriguing backstory and depth who create memorable storylines. I also liked that this series is a departure from the typical rock romance, there's grit, angst, redemption, and of course romance and sexiness.

This was the first read I had of Michelle Mankin’s books, and I was hooked!! This wild ride with Tempest absolutely caused an ADDICTION!! Every member of Tempest has so much depth. I chased this rabbit down the hole, and all of the books interweave with the next & the next. The world of rock & roll, the artists, and everyone who loves them is now a part of my family. Take the plunge and follow the Black Cat artists, become a part of their broken but beautiful family.

overall 3 stars, but the first story of Bryan and Lace was a good 4 to 4.5 stars...So angsty love triangle with some seriously dark consequences ...by far the best in the series...War's storey was second cause I found myself loving him one minute and the hating the fucker for being such an asshole...the other 2 didn't have the depth they could had, so low stars for not meeting potential

Irresistible Refrain - I really enjoyed listening to this story. I love that it gives realities about life and that it doesn't try to sugar coat anything. Yes Bryan and Lace have a complicated past, but its real and its awesome. I loved so much about this book and listening to it was awesome. While I was listening to it though I had issues with volume. This really shocked me because usually I don't have this problem with Kai and Wen's books, but this one there were times I had the volume all the way up and couldn't hear what exactly was being said. Even with that I still enjoyed their voices and the way they made this book special.

Enticing Interlude - I loved listening to this story. Kai and Wen were awesome especially with Carter. I loved hearing about an amazingly strong single mother and her awesomely sweet little boy. Then you add in a wonderfully sweet man and how he wants to be the best father figure ever and I fell in love. Everything about this story was so sweet and touching I was nearly a puddle of goo at how awesomely it was written. Being a mom myself and hearing about how amazing and great someone is with a kid when they don't have to step up into that place just makes my heart met and completely fall for them.

Captivating Bridge - You have to adore a book where it show's a bada** teddy bear side. I love a story that shows that not only can War be a jerk, but he can be a real softie. Then there's the sugar and spice that's Shaina who complements him perfectly. It was awesome listening to Kai and Wen weave this Captivating story through the air (see what I did there lol). Through the ups and downs of this book Kai, Wen and Michelle wove an awesome tale and together they made something truly worth listening to.

Relentless Rhythm - I love how this book tied so much together in this series. IT twas a real joy getting to listen to Kai and Wen act out Dizzy and April's story. The emotions and drama throughout this book made for a really incredible read. I love when authors can write a book that deals with so much everyday life and it doesn't come off as heavy, but it comes off as a must have more. With everything that was reviled and plotted out in this book I can't wait for the sparks and awesomeness to come in the rest of the series.
