A heartwarming tale of love, mystery, and old heartbreaks.
*** This 2nd book of the Haunted Love series can be read as a standalone.
Kyla's excitement of moving into the apartment of an old Heidelberg family home quickly diminishes as fixtures and appliances seem to have a mind of their own. Accusing her moody landlord about his shoddy handyman work doesn't help a bit to improve their already damaged landlord-tenant relationship. Maybe he should stick to being a firefighter instead of trying to fix things around the house. As Chris spends more time putting out proverbial fires in Kyla's apartment, she discovers the warm and gentle side of him. However, odd activities aimed at Kyla intensify, as if someone, or something, wants to keep them apart.
If you're a fan of ghost stories with charming characters and meddling spirits, then you'll love The Shadow of His past. This sweet & clean paranormal romance and mystery is full of twists and turns, smiles, and tears.

* This is the 2nd full-length novel of the Haunted Love series and was previously published as "Grumpy Poltergeist."
I'm Nickie and I write uplifting sweet & cozy fantasy romances featuring charming characters and—you guessed it—quirky ghosts. Think of my books as lighthearted Hallmark-style love stories with a paranormal twist and a mystery to solve.
Old castles where mischievous ghosts roam the halls, medieval folklore, and rich traditions were a huge part of my German upbringing. To no surprise, my ghost mystery romances are abundant in European flair, seemingly impossible love, and mischievous restless souls.
My books in the Spirits in Waiting series can all be read independently. But you might want to start with The Ghost of Her Heart and read them in order, as many of your favorite characters will appear again in the other novels.
If you want to read more, I also write clean small-town romances featuring lots of unruly weather in my Southern Storms series published under my pen name Lexie Nicholas. Check'em out!
When Kyla's brother marries, Kyla moves out of their shared home to give the newly married couple room. Kayla rents a downstairs apartment from Chris, her landlord and a full-time fireman. Almost from the start weird things begin happening when Kyla moves in. Is Chris's house haunted? This is the second book of the series but can be read as a stand-alone. Full of twists and turns, romance, drama and grief, with an HEA for all, definitely recommended! Really an enjoyable story.
I'm not entirely sure whether to shelve this as paranormal romance or not - the two main characters are entirely human, they're just engaging in a romance while sharing a house with an annoying poltergeist. Still, I think it's close enough.
I enjoyed this one more than the first book in the series. I think that's because the emphasis is more on the main couple, and there's not so much going on with the wider circle of friends; it just feels more focused to me. The hero was a little too consistently bad-tempered for my tastes, but the leads were still two decent people trying to help the ghost reconcile with his estranged daughter, even if he was too sulky and racist to really deserve it.

I read this 2nd book in the Do You Spook German as a Beta read. Mrs. Cochran's characters come alive in the book and this is an amusing and heart warming tale of love found and the past corrected.
I recommend this series if you like ghost stories and comedies.
