Author Ilia Sheludiakov’s "Temporalism" guides readers on how to live life consciously by making time their ally. The author presents time as a valuable resource that can be understood, managed and used to support our goals.
Humans often view time as an enemy that slips away too quickly, causing anxiety about the future and deep regret about the past. The author mentions that we spend too much time merely reacting to daily urgencies rather than building a meaningful life. Temporalism is the practice of aligning our daily actions with a long-term direction so that time becomes a cooperative partner rather than a ticking clock working against us.
Through this book, author Ilia encourages us to focus on positive, planned events, not be afraid of time and not regret past actions. Instead, we should make time our ally and start moving in the right direction. We should try to achieve happiness in four key areas: health, social relationships, self-realisation and finances.
The book is written in a thoughtful way and gives readers a different perspective on everyday life. At the end, 50 Practical Principles for Building Strength are presented, which could be helpful to many readers. However, some of the ideas may feel repetitive at times.
What I liked most about the book is how it made me realise that time should not be treated only as something that disappears, but as something we can learn to work with.
If you are someone who regrets past decisions, fears the future, or feels that you have no control over time, this book is for you.
