Bella is an Arts student and is asked by her Professor to determine provenance of a Renaissance painting for Anthony Rossi. Anthony is mafia, known as The Lion, and meets Isabella in his secure 60th floor penthouse apartment, overlooking Manhattan, where she examines the painting and bravely delivers her findings. This story develops as a slow burn romance, Bella gradually becomes entwined in the Lions Den. Unbeknown to Bella, her deceased father once moved valuable art for the mafia and her family connection comes into play as the books progress. The story progresses beautifully, the relationship between Anthony and Bella is complex and controlled. Secrets are gradually revealed and the complexity of the plot deepens. I recommend reading The Lions Obsession before The Lions Promise as the stories do follow on.
