Of Her Blood: A Novel

Not witch. Not spellcaster. Only woman.
‘Her cage was gilded and beautiful; mine was not, but the bars were there all the same.’
Tilda knows her place: silent, obedient, unseen. In seventeenth-century Norfolk, England, where the nobility and Church rule with an iron fist, submission is survival, especially for a maid whispered to have witchcraft in her veins. Shunned by the staff and controlled by her masters, life consists of little more than making it through each day—until she discovers a connection with Imogen, the lord's daughter.
But as buried secrets surrounding her mother's execution for witchcraft begin to surface, and her bond with Imogen grows into something more, Tilda is forced to question everything she thought she knew. Why was she brought to serve this family, and what do her masters and the staff know about her past that she does not?
In a world ruled by superstition and eager to condemn women who do not conform, the odds were never in Tilda's favour. But can she break the cycle before history repeats itself?
Of Her Blood is a haunting gothic novel exploring love, persecution, and the women society tried to silence.

One hell of a debut: a dark, gothic, historical fiction novel, steeped in suspicion, whispered accusations, and the peril of women presumed to be witches. Of Her Blood is totally deserving of every scrap of praise it receives.
Set in the 1600s, the story follows Tilda, daughter of a woman presumed to be a witch, through a world steeped in dread, desire, and the brutal vulnerability of womanhood. Her experiences are told with such sharpness that it makes you sit up and listen; safety, reputation, and freedom can vanish in seconds. What a rollercoaster of emotions!
I cannot speak highly enough of this debut, which will stay with me.

Oh, this book NEEDS attention. The story is heartbreaking. The social lessons are not to be ignored. The characters are strong and worth rooting for!
17th century. England. The world is ruled by your worst nightmare: nobility and church. Among all the chaos, there’s Tilda. Only a woman.
A woman who’s trying to survive her mothers blood curse and desperately looking for a change of generational course.
Her story is, sadly, fighting eager and insecure men who’d happily suppress a woman’s mind, in favour of a divine force.
Her story is an ongoing battle of unfortunate luck of being born into a poor family, that restricted her social status and suppressed all the possible opportunities.
Her story is about bending the reality of who she is in order to survive.
Her story is about a silence no longer needed.
Her story is about stollen moments of happiness, which make her hopes less shattered.
Her story is still a reality for a lot of women in this world.
My reflections
* What a privilege it is to have full autonomy over your existence.
* Such an interesting point of view: imagine how many more things would this world have, if only: women wouldn’t have been deprived of their freedom of speech?
* What the brain can’t comprehend and control, automatically becomes a threat. What the MALE brain can’t understand and control, automatically becomes a double threat.
* Being called a witch in these days? FUCKING love it! Call me a witch all day long. I dare you!
* No one has the power to chose where are born or by whom. No one has control on what social class they’ll be joining on their first day of life. No one has the privilege to vomit dumb opinions in their first years of existence. That, unfortunately, is still controlled by money and lack of morals, and money again.

There’s something infuriating about a story set in a world we consider less civilised than our own, only to realise that maybe we haven’t evolved as much as we’d like to think…
I was ever so lucky to receive an ARC of this stunning book by rozina hyland and, having just finished it, I have a lot of thoughts.
Meet tilda, a woman who has spent her life beneath the ever-darkening shadow of her mother’s death. Accused of witchcraft and killed for it, her mother passed down to tilda the suspicion that came with her name.
She is judged before anyone bothers to know her, feared for things she hasn’t done, and has learnt to lessen herself into a version the world might find less threatening.
Even finding love is dangerous. because wanting to be known is one thing, but trusting that someone won’t use what they learn against you is another risk entirely.
there are beautifully dark themes in this book: betrayal, fear, misogyny, power, prejudice, and more than a few men i would happily have put straight in the bin.
But the people who angered me most weren’t always the obvious villains.
Don’t get me wrong, i hated them too, but sometimes the most enraging characters were the ones standing by and doing absolutely nothing.
Because there’s a particular kind of cowardice in disagreeing with something privately while allowing it to happen right in front of you.
We read about witch trials now with the benefit of hindsight. look at the hysteria, the rumours, the persecution of women for being different and think: how could people ever have allowed this to happen?
AND YET…
We still decide who people are based on preconceptions. we still ostracise what we don’t understand. and crowds are still pretty good at watching the fallout.
We may not have literal witch trials anymore.
But that doesn’t mean we stopped witch-hunting.
Of Her Blood is dark, clever, atmospheric and furious. there are betrayals i’m still not over, characters i absolutely despised, and ideas that are still circling in my mind.
A gorgeous, gorgeous read, and i’m so honoured you trusted me with it.

I was lucky enough to receive an advance reader copy for this debut book!
I think this book is beautifully written, although some of the pacing was a bit slow and I did feel a bit bored with some parts, but overall, the author incredibly showed the brutality of the treatment Tilda and many women like her experienced in the 17th century.
I was gutted at the ending, but I reckon it was much needed. I so hoped for a happy ending, but that wouldn’t have been realistic.
I really look forward to future work Rozina puts out!
P.s can I just say Elias I loved you once but you’re a fucking twat I swear.

Immersive read with the audiobook (out now) and the e-arc supplied by the Author.
If the subject matter (see below) allows you to I recommend reading this one!
Reading along to the audiobook was probably the best decision I could have had too.
This is a medium-length story split into three sections, which made it really easy and fun to read.
It’s a gothic historical novel following Tilda, a girl who has never really fit into society’s expectations of what she should be. She’s forced against her will to become a maid at the estate of a powerful Lord, the same man who accused and prosecuted her mother of being a ‘witch’.
The portrayal and demonisation of her mother as a witch was interesting to read, especially with this aspect being fairly (being careful with my words here as I am not an expert) historically accurate portrayal regarding the mistreatment of women at the time for their use of witchcraft.
It’s set during a time when same-sex intimacy was obviously taboo, and even something as simple as owning a cat could be seen as suspicious or linked to witchcraft. I really liked how that added to the constant feeling that Tilda had to be careful about how much of herself she showed.
Romance is a strong and important part of the story, but it’s definitely not your typical romance novel. There’s a love triangle... ish. Tilda finds herself caught between the Lord’s eldest daughter and a male butcher’s apprentice, while also trying to figure out what she actually wants in a world that has already decided what is acceptable for her.
All the side characters are just as good as the MC and all carefully play roles in the story that are so impactful. The plot twists will keep you wanting to read. Fair warning if you are an empath tears will happen.
The audiobook! The way Es McLean brought the entire ensemble to life was impressive enough on its own, but I especially loved how differently Tilda interacts with the male love interest compared to the female one. You can hear the shift in her so clearly, which adds so much to the complicated feelings underneath the whole love triangle-ish situation.
17th-century haunting gothic novel
Bi/pansexual rep
Neurodivergent rep (autism)
Forbidden love
Religious trauma
Childhood trauma
🌶️ On-page FF and FM intimacy
Content notes:
Abuse used as punishment
Several mentions of SA involving women, including multiple close calls involving the main MC
Several character deaths
Animal death

Firstly I would like to thank Rozina for the opportunity of being an ARC Reader for this story.
After I heard this is for fans of the familiar by Stacey halls, I knew I needed to read this and I was right.
Usually I am not one to choose stories with same sex relationships as it is not something I personally can identify with, but if I tell you I was part of this relationship 😂😂😂 well just experience it yourself 🤷🏼♀️
The way she has looked at the issues of the witch trials era and the obscene reasons that would lead you to be killed was incredible, beautiful and outrageous at the same time. Girl, you made me cry of joy and a broken heart several times.
This book should be a 6 star read and will easily land on my all time favourite books list.
I just this second finished it……so don’t mind me digesting it for a split second and being grateful I am born in our timeline, cause I for sure would have been killed already in the 17th century.

Poignant. Realistic. Bittersweet.
Thank you Rozina for the ARC ✨
Of Her Blood has the makings of a true classic.
Each moment was crafted with care and emotion, and the narrative voice and pace flowed really well. It showed why feminism is necessary without making it political or hammering the point home. It has a Brontë vibe in terms of setting, highlighting sexism and class struggles.
My heart went out to Tilda; I resonated with her as she navigated through loss, isolation and ridicule - she never had a fair chance yet, she still fought to survive and allowed herself to explore love.
All of the book is written incredibly well, but the ending cemented it as perfection. The last few paragraphs gave me chills. I found myself at a loss after it ended, wishing I could have stayed with the characters for a little longer.
I also liked how certain, flawed characters were given some humanity. This really hit home at how good people can become wrongly influenced by pressures from their community and ideologies, I appreciated how fairly that was explored and how it added to the turmoil of certain events.
Overall this was a brilliant read that I will no doubt revisit in the future and recommend. It's not often you come across a book like this.

This was an advanced reader copy, from the author.
I devoured this book in a day!
Outspoken women, knowledgeable women, women who can heal, have been called witches for centuries, more often than not by ‘god fearing’ men, leading the way of this persecution.
Of My Blood isn’t about a witch, it’s about a woman who has lived with a past, she can’t escape and which sadly shapes her future.
But it doesn’t stop Tilda from trying to find happiness, and she does, but it’s short lived for her.
I loved Tilda, you could feel her strength, even in dire times.
Such great characters and story, with vivid storytelling.
Thank You, Rozina for allowing be to an ARC reader. This is my book of the month and it will stay with me for a long time.

What an incredible debut?! I’ve had an amazing run of arcs recently and this was no different. Once I got a moment to sit and read I absolutely flew through it. The characters, the heartbreak, the feminine rage, the love and the HATE, it was all just wonderful and horrible and beautiful!
July 26, 2026
Beautifully written! You follow through previous traumas, family secrets and how violence can be passed from one generation to another. It follows the main character being forced into confronting painful memories after the families buried truths start to come to light. Whilst looking into her family she discovers hidden relationships, sacrifices and betrayal that then helped her understand who she truly is. If reading about women’s resilience is something you enjoy, then this is the book for you!

Thank you to Rozina for the ARC and I am leaving an honest review.
I really enjoyed Of Her Blood, it was beautifully written and I thought was a very wonderful perspective of an autistic, bisexual woman in that era.
I especially thought it was thought provoking to have a story that had more depth into Witch Trials in that era because most books are based heavily around women being healers and being put on trial (or at least the ones I have read) but Rozina explored Women who were "out spoken", who had their own thoughts and feelings, who were ready to challenge those around them and also who were happy to explore their sexuality, even in secret.
A story filled with pain, heartbreak, injustice and feminine rage.

This review is probably the most difficult I’ve ever had to write. It’s so difficult trying to find the words to describe this book, coming from a male reader’s perspective. But I’ll do my best.
Of Her Blood was my first ever Gothic HF read. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I began reading. This novel covered a lot of difficult subjects. We’ve got the witch trials, trauma, sexual assault, and miscarriage. When I reached the ending, I just had to put my Kindle down and sit, collecting my thoughts before putting them into words. Tilda’s struggle was heartbreaking. Seen as a witch because she doesn’t fit in with the social norms of the period. She is stunned by the entire community, with no one to turn to, except Imogen. I felt pain for her, pain like nothing I could accurately portray into words.
As a male reader, I’ll never be able to fully connect with the struggles that were portrayed within the book. It was a story, that I think, will be read for many years to come. Under all the pain, there were glimmers of hope. A chance that things might be getting better for Tilda. Only for that glimmer to be taken away. As I reached the end, I felt my heart begin to fracture. Not only because of the struggle, and pain that women had to endure during the time period. But also, because parts of the novel’s story are still relevant to this day.
This book also opened my eyes to the experiences of women who did not fit into social norms at the time. An important subject to approach, which I also believe isn’t often represented within fiction.
An excellent, yet difficult read. Rozina, you have written something special. 5 stars.

Of Her Blood is such an excellent read of women's courage and endurance through lifelong adversity at the ignorance of men.
Tilda was such a strong protagonist that at points throughout this read, I was gasping out loud. I felt every feeling right along with her. The author did an incredible job of expressing Tilda's neurodivergence through her writing, in a world where it is highly likely neurodivergent minds would have been seen as "other" and very likely viewed as Witches as a result. It certainly gave plenty of food for thought on how life could have been for a neurodivergent woman during 17th Century England. What I loved most was that despite everything, Tilda remained true to herself and her beliefs and values. I'd like to think I would have done the same in her situation.
I'll be thinking about this book long after I have finished it! Thank you Rozina Hyland for offering me an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. Of Her Blood is published October 2026 and I urge you all to read it!

I’m gonna keep this spoiler free but omg, a certain character; I know everyone who has read this book will know exactly what I mean, and so will you, because you absolutely have to get this book!
What a roller coaster. I was lucky enough to receive an arc of this book, and all I can say is I’m now two days behind on a presentation I have to hold because I could not put it down 👀 The hardships Tilda has to go through in 17th century England as the daughter of a convicted witch are heartbreaking, and every time you think you know where the story is going, there’s another twist. Parts of it could have been fleshed out more, but that didn’t take away from the story as a whole and it had me absolutely hooked. The book touches on themes such as women’s rights, SA, abortion, found family, generational cycles, autonomy and personal freedom; how free are you really?
Beautifully written, sprinkled with lots of dark humor. 10/10 would recommend!

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of 'Of her Blood' and I have loved reading it!
Tilda is a maid in the Bellham Manor, sent to work there to repent her mother's alleged sins (witchcraft) where the Lord of the manor is a slimy nasty man.
Tilda's only reprieve from her lowly lifestyle is time spent with Lord Montclair's daughter Imogen, where a forbidden attraction starts to blossom.
This book took me on a rollercoaster throughout the life of Tilda, it spanned many years and through many twists and turns. All of the characters felt so real, with their flaws, emotions and motivations all being showcased beautifully through the book.
If you enjoy historical fiction then I would absolutely recommend this book.

Utterly devastating beautifully written dark gothic historical fiction.
Gosh this book! It had the perfect ending but my goodness was it devastating 😢 what utterly fantastic writing, I was hooked from the start. I felt all the emotions of the characters and my goodness the injustice of being a women at that time!
It made you question what having different views, or to even have a view as a women in that era and god forbid if you were neurodiverse! You were clearly a witch!!
And poor Tilda all she wanted was to be loved and Happy!
Elis I have no words left for you, you sick sick B*****d! You took my heart as well as Tildas and you deserve all you get!
I can not recommend this book enough. I was lucky enough to win and free audio version and it made the day at work whizz by!
Gosh this book! It had the perfect ending but my goodness was it devastating 😢 what utterly fantastic writing, I was hooked from the start. I felt all the emotions of the characters and my goodness the injustice of being a women at that time!

Wow this book was as beautifully written as it was harrowing.
It left me reeling and frustrated.
I was extremely frustrated by how women have been treated over the centuries and how our lives were treated as a matter of convenience. When not convenient anymore we then became witches!
I was caught off guard slightly by Tildas love interest but actually feel like it made the book for me!
It added so much depth to the story and characters aswell as bringing a bit of hope too.
This book deserves so much love and attention and you can tell the author did a lot of research :)

I was lucky enough to receive a free copy of the audiobook from the author before the book's main release later this month. I smashed through it in a couple of days because I just had to know what was going to happen to Tilda. It was a very difficult story to get through but one I deeply enjoyed because of how honest and uncensored it was told. I'll be thinking about it for a long while... Also, the narrator for the audiobook was one of the best I've ever heard!

I was so lucky to receive an advanced reader copy of this fabulous debut book and I absolutely loved it. Definitely a 5⭐️ read for me. My heart was breaking in one place in particular and yes I did cry at the end. I can’t say too much as I don’t want to spoil anything so you are just going to have to read it for yourself. You will realise why and why it has to be that way but that still doesn’t mean I couldn’t wish it wasn’t so. You find yourself feeling such an affinity for the lead character as she represents so many women over the generations. Rozina really shows you the issues of witch trials and the stigma left behind for the next generation. This book isn’t about a witch but a woman who is forced to live with the stigma from the past. And unfortunately this will go on and shape her future.
One character I really liked but oh what a turn of events that turned out to be. Once you read it you will understand. The same sex relationship in the book was so beautifully done it was incredibly heart warming. I am really looking forward to Rozina’s next book.
Huge thank you to the author for an Advanced Reader Copy.

Review to follow: an utter Gothic delight. And I read a lot of gothic novels. This was unquestionably a 5 star
August 1, 2026
I received a free copy in return for an honest review.
I must admit I tend to do what everyone tells you not to, don't pick a book by its cover..
I know, I know, absolutely terrible. However, I am so glad that I did take Rozina up on her offer for a free copy in lieu of an honest review.
This book fully surprised me, I was blown away by just how much it pulls you in and entangles you within every aspect of Tilda's life. It has taken me about a week to write up my review while I was still debriefing inside my head. Rozina you have done an absolutely amazing job with this story. Not only with the imagery you paint but with the characters you have created, besides Tilda you find yourself drawn into the lives of all the people involved needing to know what becomes of them all.
Painting a wonderful picture of what it could have possibly been like during the witch hunts in England, to be accused or even just associated with one. This story includes it all while never faltering away from the true core of the tale.
Absolutely wonderful, I’ll definitely be keeping Rozina on my watch list for future books.

I had the pleasure of being an ARC reader for Of her Blood by Rozina Hyland. Thank you for allowing me into your story. 5 star read
Gothic Fantasy
Witchcraft Accusations
Forbidden Love
Female Resilience
‘Her cage was gilded and beautiful; mine was not, but the bars were all the same.’
‘It seemed like she knew that she might not always be there, and so she had to leave her wisdom stored away inside me like dried herbs, readily available for later use.’
‘Even love that hasn’t yet begun can still leave behind a hollow space when the chance of it has gone.’
World & Characters
Rozina’s writing style is incredibly clear, easy to read and the pacing is just right. She’s also very good at setting a scene and making you feel completely immersed in where the characters are, even when the world itself is quite contained and small.
We don’t necessarily see a huge amount of the wider world because so much of the story takes place within the small space where Tilda existed. But somehow, you feel every room she walks into and you feel the difference between where she is forced to live and where she eventually finds her home.
And without spoiling anything, that contrast between how Tilda has to live versus the people she essentially serves is something that really stuck with me. It’s noticeable throughout the book and creates this constant reminder of the imbalance between her and the Montclairs, making her relationship with Imogen even more beautiful.
I also really connected with the idea of being a woman who is different or perhaps simply someone who doesn’t fit into what society considers normal and how quickly that difference becomes something negative.Tilda was either considered crazy, wrong or simply the devil’s spawn. When in actual fact she’s just educated and thoughtful.
Tilda really resonated with me especially the way she internalises emotions, struggles with expressing them and tries to regulate how she feels. That made some of the way she was treated particularly difficult to read because you can see how much of it comes from people simply not understanding her.
Relationships
I think one of the most refreshing parts of Of Her Blood for me was the relationship between Imogen and Tilda. There’s something incredibly powerful about seeing what could happen if women were simply given the space to be who they truly are. To think, learn and question. To simply exist outside of the roles that society has decided they should have.
Their relationship was beautiful and could have developed far beyond it did, if they had more time and freedom. But unfortunately, Misogyny and Patriarchy has existed long before today.
It isn’t as simple as defying the people around you and suddenly getting to live the life you want. There are consequences to challenging the world you live in, particularly when the systems around you are designed to keep you in your place. I think Rozina captures that really well. There’s this rawness to relationships because you’re constantly aware of the limitations placed on everyone, particularly Tilda and how much those limitations affect the choices they’re able to make. You see this even when Elias plays a bigger role in the story.
The way the story ultimately handles those relationships is one of the reasons the ending worked for me, it felt like the only right ending, staying true to the world and the history Of Her Blood explored. It was written beautifully and made me sit with my thoughts for some time after finishing the book.
Final Thoughts
I truly loved the story, the characters, the historical context and most importantly the ending. A wonderfully written novel, and I can’t wait to read more from Rozina in the future.
I found some of the themes difficult to witness, because of how much I connected with Tilda, but that's what made this story so wonderful. It makes you think, particularly around how women were treated and the stark differences between women who don’t fit into what society expects of them.
And without spoiling anything, I think the ending was the only fathomable way that it could have ended. It’s raw, it’s uncomfortable, and it really leans into the idea of what history should be teaching us.
Sometimes you can’t simply defy the world around you and expect everything to magically change and Of Her Blood doesn’t shy away from that.
Overall a 5 star read that makes you fall deeply for a select few, feel seething hatred for some other characters and make you think for a considerable time after ending the book.

Of Her Blood broke my heart. Truthfully, I cried through the last three chapters and for about half an hour after finishing it. This is the first book I’ve read this year that has moved me to tears.
I became attached to Tilda from page one. I felt as though I walked through every moment with her. I identified with her thoughts and the way she experienced the world around her, and I could picture her so vividly in my mind. There were also plenty of moments that seriously triggered my saviour complex, I just wanted to reach into the pages and protect her.
What initially drew me to this book was the historical setting combined with a sapphic romance. In a time when women could be ostracised for the smallest perceived differences, I was intrigued to see how a WLW relationship would be explored. What I wasn’t prepared for was where this story would actually take me. Nothing about it felt predictable.
Rozina Hyland doesn’t simply write descriptively; there is a real consciousness of the period throughout. It feels as though she transported herself there while writing and took us with her. The language never pulled me out of the setting. Her words paint such a vivid picture that the places, people and events feel believable and lived-in. It’s elegant without losing the emotion underneath it.
The pacing worked beautifully for me too. Moving between memories of people and events and the present allowed the characters and their relationships to develop naturally rather than feeling rushed. Some relationships surprised me completely, while others offered moments of comfort and showed what love and acceptance could look like in a world that wasn’t always willing to offer either.
Emotionally, this book put me through everything. I felt the injustice, sadness and anger, but also hope. There were wholesome moments that had me smiling, others that made me chuckle, and then moments that left me completely distraught. When Tilda finally experiences a form of justice, I felt both liberated for her and deeply disappointed by other aspects of what unfolded, saying much more would spoil something that deserves to be experienced without knowing what’s coming.
And then there is that ending.
It shattered me, but I wouldn’t have wanted the story to end any other way.
There genuinely isn’t anything I would change. The setting, period, characters, relationships and events all worked together in a way that made the whole book shine for me.
But what stands out most isn’t simply the romance or even Tilda’s individual story. It’s what the story represents: the voices of women. Not only their suffering, but the ways women helped their communities thrive, supported one another and found the courage to raise their voices even when they were afraid of the consequences.
I’d recommend Of Her Blood to readers who enjoy women’s literature, sapphic romance, dark gothic stories, historical fiction, emotional and psychological turmoil, and books unafraid to explore the good, the bad and the ugly of life.
Tilda had my heart from page one.
By the last page, she’d broken it.

This book was so raw, brutal and beautiful that it’s taken me days to gather my thoughts and turn them into words.
The author really has a talent for writing. She brought Tilda, our young protagonist, to life in such a dark yet vulnerable way that I immediately fell in love with her.
After watching her mother hang for witchcraft, Tilda becomes imprisoned in a household ruled by misogyny, God fearing beliefs and abuse. .
Within this new life, she manages to befriend the daughter of the family. Where she develops feelings and trust she has never experienced before. Unfortunately, Tilda’s past is smeared all over her, and almost every other person around her is set against her. They mock her and punish her because of the fear they harbour.
Despite being set in the 1600s, the reality of Tilda’s suffering can still be felt in some attitudes today and that makes this book a must read. This book is literally a witch hunt by disgusting people who are influenced too easily and can not evoke an independent thought
A woman with a voice is a woman who will always make enemies. Even today, a woman’s power so often has to be accepted by a man before it is accepted at all.
There are characters in this book I absolutely adored, yet I found myself completely fearing for their lives whenever they dared to voice a thought. Then there were characters I despised with every fibre of my being. Some who did nothing, and that was precisely the reason for my feelings towards them.
Preconceptions and envy fuel almost every motive in this book, and the consequences left me completely heartbroken.
The prose was wonderfully immersive, and the premise was executed perfectly. I read this book in one sitting. The pacing was spot on, and somehow the story just became darker and darker until it finally erupted into a pitch black ending, utterly heartbreaking. I look forward to everything this author puts out in the future.

Thank you so much to Rozina for allowing me to be part of her ARC team and reading her debut novel early. I really enjoyed this one … I actually struggled to put it down 🖤.
Of Her Blood is a gothic historical romance set in 17th century Norfolk. This story follows Tilda, a young maid whose mother was executed for witchcraft. Tilda is then treated with suspicion, hatred, and fear by everyone, and to survive, she has learnt that she must remain hidden and quiet. As her life unfolds she finds herself having to face difficult challenges, endure cruelty, and overcome adversity, while also forging new relationships - some bringing comfort and love, and others bringing hardship and persecution.
This is the story of Tilda’s life. She has been called a peasant. A whore. A witch. But she is a woman who refuses to be defined by the names given to her.

This novel was an absolute pleasure to read. It felt effortless, and I couldn’t wait to pick it up and read more each day. The writing was vivid, captivating, gut-wrenching and deeply moving. Following Tilda’s life over many years was both heart warming and heart breaking.
Tilda was a fantastic FMC. Her resilience was mind blowing and so empowering, I was instantly pulled in to her life from the first page. The story was powerful in a understated way. Nothing felt forced, yet every element carried weight, and poignancy. In a time when women were scrutinised, judged, and blamed simply for being women, which was both fascinating and infuriating.
Rozina did an absolutely stunning job bringing this story to life. Every word had purpose and each element was woven together seamlessly.
If you love historical fiction with a gothic premise, feminine rage, and women who refuse to be silenced, I highly recommend ✨

I was lucky enough to receive an advance reader copy of this debut novel and I would have not known it was a debut.
This novel had me feeling so many emotions while going on this journey with the main character Tilda. I was happy, anxious, filled with feminine rage, frustrated, sad and had so much empathy for Tilda and her story.
This story beautifully captures many tough subjects in a way that was relatable for me and made me connect to the FMC.
The love story was unique and the found family made my heart sing. There were points that made me frustrated with society back in the 1600’s but also had shown me at times we haven’t moved as forward as we should have. And there was other points where I could see the a world I would want to live in and have a found family with such a deep connection.
This book isn’t a simple love story it goes deep into the truths of the timeline it was set and that was done so well. It also made me so rage filled with how things were and how it’s not a time that can be glossed over.
The ideology of witches and what society believed a witch was is a topic I find fascinating get enraging and this story covers that perfectly! This one quote just spoke volumes and I loved!
“Can’t say I ever trusted your mother. She had a strange way about her. Spoke too freely for my liking.”
“ but that doesn’t make her a witch” I said. “It just made her disagreeable to men.”
The ending had me in a chokehold and so gripped and I sobbed!
This book was a 6 star read for me I bloody loved it and all that it stood for regarding women, LGBTQ+, neurodiversity and motherhood! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"Even love that hasn't yet begun can still leave behind a hollow space when the chance of it is gone".
If I was to use one line to describe this book it would be: Guilty by association.
On account of her mother's actions, Miss Tilda must remain at Lord Montclair's manor as his property for 8 years during which she strikes an unlikely relationship with his daughter, Imogen. What follows is a series of unfortunate, detestable events in the harsh environment of the 17th Century.
The circumstances surrounding the women within this book are shaped by the patriarchy and what they are born into. Ironically, the only way to have freedom is to marry a man who ultimately has the choice to take it away from you. Every decision within the course of this book is to enact some form of self which in turn is trampled by female persecution. It's a cyclical system where the only people on top are men and my goodness do the men in this book play their roles well because I am positively seething with rage at them.
Nevertheless, let's focus on our main girls.
Imogen and Tilda share steadfast loyalty to one another. Whilst both have endured hardship, if it was a contest my goodness Tilda would win. It is harrowing reading about her exclusion from society, the endless persecution she faces for deeds which she didn’t even commit (to begin with). Yet, love blossoms between the couples within this novel and there's a quiet beauty to those tender moments which alas cannot last forever.
An utterly fantastic, insightful read and an easy 5 star rating 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Then this is the book for you!
And what a read it was I highly recommend !
I love this quote-
'Not Witch '
'Not Spellcaster'
'Only Woman'
So true!
In a story ruled by superstition with people ready to condemn any women who doesn't conform it is such an important read especially in today's society
Thank you Rozina for highlighting the importance of this

This book was absolutely fantastic in everyway! I throughly enjoyed it!⭐️
Atmospheric, Believable, Captivating! It honestly had me enthralled! 🖤✨️
It follows Tilda a low class women forced into maid service through no fault of her own
It follows her journey from finding herself and who she truly is against a world set against her- carrying the suspicion of being a witch!
It was a heartbreaking 💔 read at times and so poignant especially in todays world and it truly moved me, the characters were rich and full of depth
Such a moving story of overcoming adversity against all odds and showing up for yourself
It also highlights just how far the people who truly care for you will go to protect you!

Review of advance copy received from Author
Have to start this one with the biggest thank you to the amazing Rozina for the opportunity to read the ARC for 'Of Her Blood'
As soon as I found out about this one I was immediately intrigued. A gothic tale of love, life and the difficulties faced by women in 17th century England. 🖤 Yes please! 🖤
The story focuses on a single perspective of our FMC Tilda, sharing a look into her life as the daughter of a previously convicted "witch", who is given the opportunity to cleanse through worship and devotion.
In a time when the country was ran on superstition throughout the noble classes and the Church dominating how everyone was to think, submission was often the easiest and only way to survive as a woman.
This was such an amazing read. If you're expecting actual magic, sorcery or some other mystical powers, this won't fall into that category, though this book tells a much deeper, realistic story of how women were treat in 17th century England, if they weren't born into the nobility, and especially if they showed any signs of being even slightly "different".
It was a devastating story of love and loss, and I couldn't put it down from the first page to the last!
This was easily a 5⭐️ read for me, and I'm so excited to see what else is to come from this incredible author! 👏🏻😍🖤
'Of Her Blood' officially releases on 20th October 2026 and I can't recommend this enough... so please, go and pre-order it and support this amazing author! 🖤🖤🖤
