After Rendani Makwarela is left at the altar by the supposed love of her life, she swears off men completely and pours herself into building her catering business.
That is until life places Chef Rendi' in the path of Fhumulani Makungo - a handsome divorcee who believes marriage should not be about love, but strategy.
What happens when he falls head-over-heels for Chef Rendi', only for her to accept an arranged marriage to keep her family's dreams alive?
Starting a book with a bride being left at the altar is never my favourite opening, but this was handled with such grace.
Rendi' never came across as desperate or waiting to be saved. She was firm, content in her aloneness, and surrounded by so much love from family and friends. I loved that for her.
This is such a soft, easy read that turns deliciously dramatic. The last 100 pages? I was HOOKED. When they fell for each other halfway through, I thought, "now what?" but that's when it gets even better. That twist with her father had me fuming. I'm still fuming. What a loser!
My favourite character has to be Rendi's grandmother. A truly futuristic girl's girl. I absolutely loved every moment they shared together, it left me feeling so nostalgic. 🥹

My first time reading a romance book by a Venda author and as a Venda girl, I feel very represented!
I really enjoyed the storyline, my heart broke when their love story was ended but it was all worth it in the end. As a hopeless romantic, this was lovely to read. I hope to never have to choose between success and love🤭
