“Between Lives” is a personal black-and-white photobook created during a month-long journey through Japan. After a four-year break from photography, Mikhail Paramonov picked up the camera again during his final week in Tokyo. Inspired by Nobuyoshi Araki, the streets of Tokyo, its museums, architecture and quiet atmosphere, he created this visual diary. The title reflects a persistent feeling of familiarity — as if these places, streets and moments had already existed somewhere before, and might exist again after. Tokyo becomes not simply a city, but a space between memory, dream and recognition. Through fragments of urban life, anonymous figures and quiet observations, the book explores silence, memory and the feeling of returning to something impossible to explain. Created as an independent author photobook by Mikhail Paramonov.
