I wanted to like this book so much. It could have been great. In the end it feels like AI wrote a story about Sam Kerr and Kristi Mewis and then no one edited it. So many sentences repeated. I should have stopped reading but I kept up hope.

To be completely honest, this book felt unfinished. The characters were good, their motivations were decent if slightly underdeveloped, the direction of the plot was clear. But the execution was more akin to a first draft than a completed novel. There were several inconsistencies in timings and plot points, such as when injuries happened, which if smoothed over would’ve made it feel more like a completed book. The writing style also felt like an unedited draft - repetitive and using the same sentence structure almost every page. This managed to take me out of the immersion of the novel.
I think with a bit more work this could’ve been an incredible book but for me it was just lacking from an editorial perspective. With a bit more development of the characters, their motivations would’ve felt more real and I would’ve understood the plot better. And with a little bit more of a varied writing style, I would’ve been more completely invested in the story.

The author handled the injuries well, mentally and physically. The story is good. The MCs spend time getting to know each other. Definitely get the extra chapter offered at the end of the book (at least through Kindle).

READ THIS BOOK
I truly enjoyed this story and these characters. I was never a sports fan but this has the right amount and makes the theme relatable.
Can't wait to load the next in the series
