Can I give this book 10 stars? In addition to achieving the unimaginable feat of sailing solo around the world, a 30,000 nautical-mile journey that took her almost 8 months, during which time race rules forbade stopping ashore or receiving assistance or supplies, and also forbade the use of any technology unavailable in 1968, Kirsten Neuschafer has with this book achieved what few writers do- which is to put the reader inside the skin of the protagonist, which is in this case her. What an experience of focus, torments, and joy.

What an awesome read this is. I didn’t want it to end

As an avid watcher of the Golden Globe Race on social media- this book was an excellent read. I loved every bit of it and I knew the ending! It allowed me to know Kirsten a bit better and know what she was thinking beyond the ‘All good, K! I recommend anyone that is a follower of the GGR to read it!

A fantastic book !

Even if you are not interested in sailing or the Golden Globe Race, Kirsten’s account is a great read for anyone who has an interest in strong charachters who are able to accomplish great feats without a huge amount of fuss. Her ability to overcome obstacles and complete difficult tasks is inspiring.

An Inspirational Book

Besides the fact that Kirsten is a fantastic person and sailor. This book clearly shows the heart, determination, and know how to sail alone around the world. With her cast of characters helping her along the way. She takes off on an epic adventure. I will definitely read it again.

It was a long and incredible voyage — the book and Kirsten’s race around the globe. I kept notes on the pages with the best gems, thoughts I want to remember. There were many. Kirsten’s book will be appreciated by sailors and admired by those of us who had to look up those many nautical terms and actually learn something new. Highly recommended!
