A billionaire just proposed to me in front of three hundred people and I’m not even his girlfriend.

Six months ago, he gave me a job when no one else would hire me, and it saved my niece from being taken away.

Now my sister’s horrible ex-husband is fighting for custody again, and his family has money and lawyers I can’t compete with.

Tonight, I overheard that the board is voting tomorrow to remove him as CEO because the company needs “stable leadership, not a playboy.”

Ten minutes later, he pulled me into the hallway and said he needed my help, and that he was about to do something crazy.

I told him, after what you did for me, just tell me what you need.

He took my hand, walked me to the center of the stage, and grabbed the microphone.

Then he got on one knee, in front of his family, his board, and three hundred people.

He looked up at me and whispered just loud enough for only me to hear,

“I’ll explain later. Just go with it.”

I looked at the man who gave me a chance when no one else would.

I can’t believe I did…

But I said yes.

I'll start by saying that this book was very entertaining and I couldn't put it down up until around the 60-70% mark. Then all the unrealistic situations and ridiculousness was just too much to ignore.

At first I could overlook how an actor can all of a sudden become a CEO of a company simply because of his last name. I mean. Don't you need some qualifications, training and/or experience in working at a business before you can, you know, run a business? How did he know what all these quarterly reports he was reading meant? Anyway. I over looked it at first because the writing was entertaining and I kind of added in my own background that he must have gone to university or something just so my brain wouldn't fixate on that.

And then Miley very strongly and adamantly told Christopher she will not go and see his brother after his assistant tracked her down and invited her to go see him because she is not interested in talking to him because she knows how much that upset him just to get a 2 line text from the brother in the middle of the nightand then she says fuck it I must go see him? I want to know what that text said that she can go from fiercely denying the request and putting Christopher's fears at ease to "oh yeah sure I'll come meet you". Sadly we never find out.

Then the ex shows up at Christopher's office and he thinks that it would be a good idea to meet with her at a bar. Because he is not the most famous and followed person in the world? Of course there will be photo's. What did he expect? But then Miley believes the evil step mother that Christopher is getting back with the ex because she is such a reliable source and is not at all trying to undermine him and get the board to fire him. And instead of being an adult and talking to the person she claims to love she writes him a letter and leaves. Because that is what we do in relationships.

And now I get to the reason for my review. Nevermind the plot holes about the restaurant and the sister and all the other stuff. All of this drama. The kiwi incident. The fake marriage. The brother drama. The ex drama. The step mother drama and daddy issues. He stopped acting and took over as CEO of a company that he had no interest in because his grandma asked so the company will not fall in the hands of his evil stepmom just so he can step down 2 months later to start acting again. WTF!! Literally EVERYTHING that happened in this book was for nothing because in the end he steps down anyway and goes back to acting. What was the point of it all??? He could have just said no for 2 months and that would have been that.

Still giving it a 3 star because it was entertaining.

Let me just start out by saying that I’m at 49% of the book, and there has been absolutely no hint of romance or any sexual liaison. So clearly this is a slow burn book and most likely is going to end abruptly which is something I am not a fan of. We’ll see.

This is the story of Christopher and Miley. Christopher is a well-known movie star and up to this point a rather narcissistic man. Miley is a chef that has just opened her own restaurant. Both Christopher and Miley had childhood trauma they are attempting to overcome, and Miley is helping to support her sister and niece who is going through a difficult divorce.

When Miley finds out she’s been selected to receive a visit from Christopher, she is overjoyed. She has a very brief history with him and feels like it will put her new restaurant on the map and give it just the kind of attention it needs to become successful and better known.

Christopher has other ideas and ends up destroying Miley’s new venture. I’m not going to give the plot away. Let’s just say that it’s one of the worst and best decisions of Christopher’s life. It forces him to acknowledge that he has a long way to go to becoming a loving human and it allows him to fake marry Miley who turns out to be the love of his life.

Yes, this was a slow burn romance… probably 2/3 of the way through the book before there was any real romance. I prefer an earlier start, but it was still a good book. The writing was good, the plot was well thought out and the characters believable. Another 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
