Moments after being hired on a trial basis as a SNAG agent, Lorri finds herself face to face with a hulking, gorgeous alien who’s supposed to just hand off his cargo to her, but in her nervousness, she inadvertently triggers a 24-hour lockdown with the cargo of dubious content and origin.

For his entire adult life, Jazil has been convinced he was defective, devoid of the mating instinct/imperative that Skriveth like him are born with. One moment in the company of the brave and lovely human Lorri, however, disabuses him of that notion, and his mating instincts kick in hard.

Unfortunately, the cargo has been tampered with, and the being locked inside is awakening and has been cruelly experimented upon, and poses a mortal threat to defenseless Lorri.

Will they survive this ordeal? Will Lorri have a job when the dust settles?

This was an exciting, steamy, fated mates sci-fi romance from the always wonderful Lara Roth. I was furnished an advance reader copy from the author and Booksprout, and I’m pleased to share my honest review.

This is the very first installment for the "SNAG" series and a spinoff of the "OOPS" universe.

Lorrie moves away from her home and the family drama to start new. The lucky t-shirt from her mother is worn to every new beginning. After eleven interviews she at last manages to get a job at SNAG. Flossie, the interviewer, sends her on a task to pick up a clandestine cargo. Along the way she encounters mysterious, broken Jazil, who seems to have a growing fascination with her. She, however, wants nothing to do with him. Will he be able to enter her heart? Will she end up having the job in the end? What happens when the cargo has been tampered with and their survival is at stake?

Where to begin? What a brilliant start to this new series! The SNAG Universe is so immersive and exciting, with loveable characters! The way the author has particular laws/rules is so well done, and they're explained in such a believable way. Particularly how the Skriveth biology works and the way their bonding occurs. So intriguing!

Lorrie, is our reserved and resilient FMC, who prefers to keep her head down and lay low, not wanting unwanted attention. Keeping away from family drama gives her some piece and all she wants is to get on with her work, but keeping up a facade that "everything is OK" can be heavy. Her background is traumatic, but she does not let her fears get in the way of her goals and aspirations. Albeit an anxious person, she's constantly doing her best on improving herself with determination and honesty. Her character is brave, human and very loveable!

Jazil, is our mysterious and possessive MMC, who can't seem to fight the allure he experiences towards Lorrie from first sight. His Skriveth biology awakens only because of her. Prior to that he's sadly believed he was broken, unworthy and defective regarding his mating bonding with someone. I love how he doesn't force his feelings on her and respects her autonomy/is consensual. He's protective, patience and truly caring.

The couple's chemistry and romance is wonderfully woven within this story as their trust builds gradually around the danger around them. The intimate scenes are super steamy! Haratio, the Ai system, is a serious yet welcoming addition to the story. He does add a lot to it! It's such an immersive, intriguing world! A well written, fast-paced story, including artificial intelligence. There are some sweet and funny moments, and feel-good, fuzzy scenes that will make your heart melt. A steamy romance with fated mates vibes! I've enjoyed it a lot. Can't wait to see what's in store for the next book in line!

Delivered and Devoured by Lara Roth is a fast-paced sci-fi romance that blends humor, danger, heart, and an unforgettable fated-mates connection into one addictive read. Set within the fascinating Alien Recovery Files universe, this story delivers everything fans of alien romance could want: forced proximity, devotion, clever world-building, and two characters who discover that home isn't always a place—sometimes it's a person.

Lorri's first day at SNAG is supposed to be the start of a better future. Instead, one mistake lands her in a quarantine lockdown trapped inside a cargo bay with a dangerous situation unfolding around her and a very intriguing alien courier. What follows is a story packed with tension, trust, and a growing connection that feels both sweet and inevitable.

Lorri was easy to root for from the beginning. She's anxious, determined, and desperately trying to prove herself while carrying insecurities that have followed her for years. Watching her slowly realize that she doesn't need to shrink herself to fit into someone else's expectations was one of the most rewarding parts of the story. Her courage isn't loud or flashy, but it's present in every difficult choice she makes.

Then there's Jazil.

Jazil quickly became one of my favorite alien heroes. After forty-one years believing the part of him meant to bond would remain silent forever, meeting Lorri changes everything. What makes him so compelling isn't just his protective nature—it's the patience and care he shows throughout their relationship. Despite the intensity of his feelings, he consistently allows Lorri the space to make her own choices and move forward at her own pace.

Their chemistry is undeniable, but what truly makes the relationship work is the foundation of trust they build together. As danger closes in around them, both characters gradually lower their defenses and allow themselves to hope for something they never thought they would have.

Lara Roth's world-building is another standout. The alien species, the technology, and especially the ship AIs feel unique and vibrant. The artificial intelligences continue to be scene-stealers, providing humor, personality, and unexpected heart whenever they appear. They bring a wonderful balance to the more intense moments and make the universe feel alive.

I also loved how Jazil's courtship reflects his species' instincts while still remaining deeply focused on connection and mutual trust. The result is a romance that feels both alien and surprisingly tender at the same time.

At its core, this story is about belonging. Lorri is searching for a place where she can truly be herself, while Jazil has spent decades believing something essential inside him was missing. Together they discover that neither of them was broken—they were simply waiting for the right person to find them.

If you enjoy fated mates, forced proximity, protective alien heroes, found family, clever science-fiction worlds, and romances that balance humor, heart, and heat, Delivered and Devoured is a fantastic read. It's a story about being fully seen, fully chosen, and finally finding the place where you belong.

She walked into his cargo hold and woke every hungry instinct.

Lorri’s first day at SNAG is supposed to be a fresh start, not a disaster sealed behind quarantine doors. One wrong touch traps her in a cargo bay with a dangerous alien pod, a furious predator, and Jazil, the controlled Skiveth courier whose calm presence and watchful eyes make her feel seen in ways she isn’t ready for.

Jazil has spent forty-one years believing the part of him meant to bond is broken. Then Lorri walks onto his ship, anxious and brave and trying so hard not to fall apart, and every quiet, lonely piece of him wakes up with one command: protect her.

What starts as forced proximity turns into survival, trust, and a pursuit that lets Lorri stop hiding because she wants to be found. Jazil is possessive, patient, and fiercely devoted, but the real heat comes from how carefully he lets her choose every step toward him.

Lorri begins the story convinced she has to make herself smaller to belong, but through danger, desire, and unwavering acceptance, she learns to trust her own courage. Jazil has spent decades accepting loneliness as his future, yet meeting Lorri forces him to embrace vulnerability, devotion, and the possibility of being fully known. They build something rooted in trust, mutual choice, playful pursuit, and emotional healing.

An ultra-steamy, alien-human romance featuring fated mates, forced proximity, playful pursuit, possessive devotion, and a touch her and die protector. It explores belonging, vulnerability, trust, identity, loneliness, courage, intimacy, and the healing power of being fully seen. It’s about a woman who learns she no longer has to make herself smaller to be loved, a man who discovers he was never broken at all, and a connection that becomes home. She also discovers that being wanted doesn't have to mean being consumed, only chosen well.

The Elevator Pitch: A nervous human desperate to keep her first real chance collides with an alien courier who thought the deepest part of him would remain silent forever. Trapped together by circumstance, they uncover a connection that turns survival into trust and attraction into something far more permanent. As old fears fall away and long-buried hopes come to life, both must decide whether being truly seen is worth risking everything.

Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥 Ultra-Steamy / Erotic Romance

I love Lara Roth’s universe’s ships’ artificial intelligences, they are the class clown until they’re not, and when they’re not they’re the biggest supporters of their people you could possibly imagine.

I also love her names - character names, creature names, alien species’ names; they’re unique in ways that feel alien or futuristic without being in your face or obnoxious or distracting.

The characters’ though patterns run on like mine, like the way my brain works, and my sentence flow (and flow and flow) and I always notice it because it’s different than a lot of books but I it was finally today that I was able to put my finger on it.

“Hunting speed closes the distance. Courting speed builds it.” Chills? Shivers.

Also. Jazil. The courtship chase. Primal hunt is more than a subtitle, it’s foreplay. It’s Ghost Pepper hot. It’s… so sensual and focused and (good) intense that it slows your brain down, and you read slower, and the words build the scene in your mind (if your mind builds scenes) and your breath changes and your heart rate changes and ho.lee. happily ever afters

The idea of a partner whose body is * cool * instead of hot is heaven to a woman of a certain age.

Delivered and Devoured is yummy in every way.

Note on the trigger warnings; “Creature Violence” does not cover the specific level of detail that is described in the alien vs. creature fight. It is self defense, and it is not a sentient creature, but it is visceral and detailed and important things are mixed in with it because the MMC is Realizing Things so it’s not easily skippable.

"The scent of her arousal — unfiltered, undiluted, inches from my face — is a drug that rewrites my brain chemistry in real time."

I devoured this book in a one-go,the story is incredibly rich and imaginative. It was easy to lost myself with this characters.
Lorri, the fmc has a past of being bullied and made to feel small.
She applies to work on the newly formed SNAG.
And in her first fiel test she finds herself inside a quarantined ship with Jazil the mmc.
He's a Sziveth with a high predator instint.
Add to that, the seal of the container broke and a very angry mutated creature is on the loose.
Can't forgot to mention the ship's AI,HORATIO that is a mix of a kind and helpful buttler with a touch of matchmaker ,made me laugh with his antics and is absolutely adorable.
And the spice?Hot enough to make you sweat!!! Scorching hot primal hunt...Need to say more?
I was already fan of Lara Roth but she outdone herself with this new series.
I can't wait to read more!

🌟Sci-fi romance
🌟Alien male with powerful predatory instints, and unique anatomy
🌟Human female with anxiety and past-bullying
🌟High-tension
🌟High-stakes
🌟Violence,injury and confinament

Delivered and Devoured is a lockdown primal hunt alien romance and is a part of the Alien Recovery Files series. This is a companion story that shows how SNAG differs from OOPS, and is (timeline wise) 3 weeks after SNAG opens, and is part of the same universe as the You’ve Got Alien Mail series. I am a giant fan of the OOPS series and it looks like SNAG is going to be just as well. The storyline had me laughing one minute and just completely invested in this book quickly, not feeling like I’m on the outside looking in, but right next to the characters as the story progresses. So, yes, I loved the rest of the universe and this is seeming to be just as wonderful as the rest of the universe. SO, grab this story and enjoy, and if you haven’t read the rest of the other series, grab them too. These are mature reads, made for adults. The book 1 of the new series is Fought & Found (Alien Recovery Files). Grab them all!! You won’t regret it. Also, make sure you read past the ending, the Classified Access and Off the record, you'll be glad you did.

This novella is dual POV, well written and edited, and a fast-paced, funny, intense, sweet and steamy, fated mates, forced proximity, sci fi romance between Lorri, the female human lead looking for a place to belong, and Jazil, the male alien lead who knows he has a biological mate but never found them. I enjoyed Lorri’s determined bravery and resilience. I enjoyed Jazil’s consent focus and determination that Lorri would be fully informed before making choices. I enjoyed the steamy intimate scenes, with their intense pleasure focus. I enjoyed the ending contentment of both characters in finding a space for themselves, for both work and home.

This novella is also a standalone which functions as either an introduction or a bonus for a new series. I adored the world building, which is a spin off from the author’s OOPS series and I’m looking forward to future stories with their high steam and adorable relationships.

Delivered and Devoured is an Alien Recovery Files story of
SciFi romance that for me was a very enjoyable read, that for FMC Lorri Vance begins the day of her interview for a position with SNAG Recovery Services.
Instead of a full sit down interview owner Flossie decides to set Lorri a task. She has to collect a pod shipment from OOPS now waiting at a bay for turnover to SNAG.
A little nervous and something else after meeting Captain Jaxil Ereux she receives the cargo but inadvertently places her hand where it shouldn’t be and causes a 24 hour containment lockdown,
trapped with Jaxil and his theatrical AI Horatio aboard his ship.
After forty years without a twinge until scenting Lorri this Captain has no doubt his mate has finally been found.
Such a good story unfolds with it’s humor, danger, spice, mystery, primal play, hot Alpha alien, sweet little human, and the action when the seal opens on that pod!
Wonderful writing, and perfectly crafted characters in a story that will be read again!
HEA.

OOPS has a sibling, SNAG! what a treat.
This book has the same excitement, action, romance, spice, spirit as the OOPS books, which I devour as soon as I get them.
They are so much fun!

Lorri has had so many unsuccessful interviews that the one with SNAG must work.
When it becomes a working interview - she is hopeful and she knows she can do it
When she sees a picture of the pilot she has to talk to, she is smitten.

Jazil cannot wait to get rid of the lying pod asap and continue with his deliveries.
But - his ridges are raised when Lorri arrives to take over it.

An unfortunate incident while transfer that should have made Jazil supermad workwise - a 24 hour quarantine is triggered
His new mission is set - get the girl ❤️

HORATIO the AI system is, of course, front and center in the book, which he deserves.
Very serious and analytical. Still, the book would not be the same without him.

Another amazing read from Lara Roth!
You will feel this one right in the centre of your chest, so keep the tissues close! The pacing is perfect and the characters unfold slowly - growing, endearing themselves to you. And when you hear Lorri tell you about how she learned to not take up space, your heart will break. When you feel the anger and frustration from Jazzil at being told he was defective, he wasn't he just needed his human, you will want to be his champion and that is Lara's true gift as a writer - her ability to transport you into the story and want to take up their plight.
It doesn't hurt that the aliens are sexy either!
This new branch division of OOPS, SNAG, sounds like its going to be a blast with mysterious cargo, a don't ask don't tell policy. I'd be in one day one!

There are several adult themes in this book including chase themes and explicit sex. If this isn't your cup of tea, perhaps read something else.

*****I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The story is good, and the characters are good. It has a full science fiction world with aliens, and I usually love that, so there was no problem for me in terms of concept or atmosphere.

But the writing style was really difficult for me. The sentences felt too fragmented, too repetitive, and it made my reading experience much harder than it should have been. I liked the story, but I struggled so much while reading it that I honestly felt frustrated.

This kind of style can work better in very short novella-length stories, but for something longer, it did not work for me. I am sorry because I do like Lara Roth, but this one is a three-star read for me.

The lucky top is finally lucky!

Lorrie has always practiced remaining invisible. Life is a crapshoot. She moves away from home to leave the family drama there. Her mom gives her a lucky shirt for her first times, like job interviews. Well, it isn’t lucky in the job market. Eleven job interviews later, she ends up at SNAG, a finding agency that figures things out. During her job interview Flossie decides that inside of a person-to-person review is not going to get it. She sends Lorrie on a job to pick up and unknown package. Jazil thought he was broken. He’s never felt the pull of a female let alone a human one. Life sends everyone curve balls. Lorrie awakens the pod and life rolls along for both of them. This is a wonderful story that will give you a chuckle and warm fuzzy feelings. I enjoyed it immensely.

Jazil belongs to a species that only bonds once in a lifetime; for forty years his bond has been silent. His instincts roar to life the second Lorri walks into his life just trying to survive her first day at a new job that she desperately wants to keep.

Both MCs are incredibly likeable; Lorris is smart and resilient and Jazil is possessive, protective, and respectful. I liked the way that Lorri and Jazil were able to get to know each other and learn to trust each other through their lockdown adventure.

The primal hunt aspect is well done; the moment when Jazil gives Lorri a head start to run because he knows his own self-control is hanging by a thread is as steamy as their chemistry. You will devour this one!.

Wonderful start for a branch out series of the You've Got Alien Mail Book series I'd read. SNAG is a brand-new department of OOPS which is to deliver the lost mail and give it to the right person. This story begins when Lorri a new hired was given an assignment to pick up a cargo and sign the ownership to SNAG off of Jazil Ereux ship. Only the occupant inside the cargo awakens and creates a lock-down in the cargo hold. What occurs is an engaging story I'd devoured. Our characters were likable and both have scars of being told they're undesirable. Lorri is clumsy which creates problems in her life and Jazil was told he not normal and won't be able to find his fated mate which once he meets Lorri discovers is wrong. I'd totally enjoyed this engaging story I'd received and I'd volunteered to review.

This is the first book in a new series, SNAG, of an already well built world but I didn't feel lost when reading. You can clearly see links to its origin in OOPS along the way but it is not intrusive or too overwhelming.

Lorri is desperate to get a job and is determined to pass the latest interview, even if it seems to have turned into a practical one! She's a little less confident when she sees the pilot, Jazil, as she's discovered love at first sight and to be honest she is something of a living calamity Jane. As for himself, Jazil cannot wait to handover the cargo until he discovers who is going to be taking it and in that moment his focus changes direction very quickly. He's found the one thing he was told he was never going to.

This is a fantastic story with fated mates, spice, fun and a very snarky AI named HORATIO. All in all a wonderful read.

This is another side of the OOPS universe, SNAG, and it is great. I thought that Lorri and Jazil were instantly a great match. Lorri needed someone who saw her and what she was really worth and Jazil just needed her. And of course you can never forget HORATIO. Lets face it the ship AI in these stories are as much of a main character as any of the others in the story.
I enjoyed this so much, the instant chemistry between these two was explosive and the "run little human", oh yeah.
Lorri reading about Skiveth physiology and mating and Jazil not being sure about that.
As usual Lara has brought it and it is a great story with awesome characters and of course a happy ever after.
I will anxiously await the next story and the next couple and of course the next snarky AI.

Don’t touch that!

Lorri Vance needs this job with SNAG. She has her lucky shirt on. It’s a simple job – pick up the parcel from the scary Skiveth courier and deliver it to SNAG. It literally took her minutes to mess it all up. Now, after a fight to the death, the ship is in 24-hour lockdown, and she is trapped with the six-foot-three Skiveth.

Jazil Ereux never expected to feel the mate bond, and certainly not with the petite human female. He should have left her to her fate when the attack happened, but all his senses shouted PROTECT!

This is a fun, fast-moving alien romance. I like the way it links in with the OOPS series. I received an advance copy, but my review is honest and voluntary.

Delivered and Devoured by Lara Roth begins the new series Alien Recovery Files, including more adventure, danger, and spice than the previous OOPS series. Lorrie is hoping to be hired for the new SNAG program and is immediately given the task of signing for a cask containing a dormant life form that has been asleep in a ghost ship for years. She meets Skiveth Jazil who turns the item over to her, but, of course, all goes wrong and the the two are locked on board his ship with a raging monster searching for its mate! After putting the monster out of its misery, Lorrie and Jazil find that they are fated mates and enjoy some primal chases until the quarantine ends. What a fun adventure!.

This was a fun story with great characters, humour and spice. I love how Lorri is ever the sweet klutz, but she can calm down a monster with her voice. Jazil sees the real person, falling for her immediately. He never thought he would have a mate - better really late than never. His ship's AI, HORATIO, is hilarious in its attempts to enhance their romance. The reason the book didn't get 5 stars is that the writing style drove me crazy, with run-on sentences that were sometimes hard to follow. But the staff members of OOPS and SNAG, along with the world building, are just too wonderful and the plot really keeps you engaged.

Delivered and Devoured is the captivating first installment in Lara Roth’s Alien Recovery Files series, marking an exciting new expansion of her sci-fi universe. When an undeliverable package forces OOPS agent Jazil Ereux to cross paths with Lorri Vance—a SNAG hopeful on her make-or-break eleventh interview—chaos ensues. A stasis pod malfunction triggers a lockdown, trapping the duo together in a fight for survival. Featuring brilliantly developed characters, a promising new corner of the universe, and a delightfully matchmaking AI companion, this appealing sci-fi romance comes highly recommended.

Why you’ll love it: The character development is top-notch, the world-building expands Roth's universe beautifully, and there is a wonderful AI playing matchmaker.

This was a fun read that has Lorri, newly hired, have a panic moment and accidentally hit the lockdown button, trapping the handsome alien, Jazil, in the cargo hold with her. However, the cargo isn't what it appears to be and a real threat to Lorri grows. Jazil has always been seen as less-than, with no mating instincts. Ha! Once trapped inside with the lovely Lorri, all that gets wiped away. She's his fated mate! Expect to get caught up in the humour, action, drama, danger, heart and heat as these two work their way to a fab HEA. It's an exciting addition to the series and I really enjoyed the reading ride. Good fun!

Delivered and Devoured is a book I enjoyed reading very much. I enjoy fated mates' stories and so it was easy to enjoy Jazil and Lorri's story. Lorri is sweet and I loved that she was insecure and had to deal with it and that meeting Jazil helped her. His attention and care gave her confidence. Jazil is swoonworthy! He too was told he was not good enough, that he would never find his fated mate, but all this changed one day, when Lorri showed up on his ship. I loved their banter and interaction, which is cute and fun. The worldbuilding is wonderful and complex and the plot is engaging and interesting. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

I am totally digging this new branch out series "Alien Recovery Files", from You've Got Mail. By Lara.
Lorri and Jazil's story is fun, captivating and a wonderful suspenseful adventure through space. Fighting an angry Alien, learning about each other.
I fell in love with these characters. Another fated mate's HEA out there in the universe.
Getting those packages delivered and falling in love 💜🤗.
I highly recommend this book.

Hide and Seek....Skiveth Style
I loved reading this crossover (OOPS/SNAG) story featuring the lovely Lorri and the fearsome Jazil. They are both carrying baggage and deserve something good in their lives.
This author is brilliant in their 'AI' supporting characters too. I loved how HORATIO turns a games suggestions list into click bait, by saying he is 'particularly proud of number 31'. His humorous meddling certainly helps this pair towards their happy ending.

Where do I start?! Science Fiction to me is at its best when an author can fully commit to their own world-building by creating specific laws and abiding by them in a scientifically accurate (or at least realistic) way. Lara Roth did a stunningly beautiful job of explaining Skiveth biology and mate bonding in a way that makes this story believable. The chemistry between Lorri and Jazil is a tangible thing -- and both of them have laugh-out-loud internal dialogue. I cannot wait to read more about these two and their world.

I loved this book and could not put it down! Lorri is such an interesting character! I love how she analyses and works through problems, can be unapologetically blunt and absolutely stays true to herself throughout everything that happens! Jazil is absolutely perfect for her and the tension between them as they navigate the emergency and their attraction to each other is absolutely addictive!
A great new story in the OOPS world and an exciting beginning to the SNAG series!

'Then she walked onto my ship and every dead thing in me woke up roaring. Now I'm telling her to run. Not because something in this bay is dangerous.
Because I am.
Run, little human. I'm already counting.'

The characters were very appealing and complex and compelling and complicated and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and exciting and well paced. World building was excellent and impressive. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend!

Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy the read!.

I very much enjoyed this book. I don't think there's been a Lara Roth book that I've read that I haven't enjoyed!

The characters are great, loveable, and very relatable (for me at least), and the chemistry between the MCs is captivating. I loved the character development and how both MCs have insecurities that they're working through.

I can't wait to see what the rest of the series is going to look like!

“Delivered and Devoured” by Lara Roth

-This fast-paced sci-fi romance blends danger, humor, and a sweet fated-mates connection. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Lorri and Jazil are engaging characters, and I loved watching them find trust, belonging, and love together. The creative world-building and hilarious ship AI added extra charm to the story.
A steamy, action-packed novella with great chemistry, high stakes, and a satisfying happy ending.
