“Set has risen.”

After being on the run from a psychotic cult for a week, Natara “Natti” Stone has finally come to realize she and Seth are the only two people standing between the Sons of Set and the secret name of Ra. Holding a part of the key that unlocks Ra’s power, they relocate to a more isolated location in the California mountains. While laying low, Natti becomes even more determined to understand her mother’s bloodline and her blessing from the goddess, Isis. But when she starts seeing the truth behind her destiny, she begins to doubt her role in the events that are about to unfold.

Then the unthinkable happens . . .

All Seth O’Keefe wanted was to get Natti as far away from his father and the Sons of Set as possible. Unfortunately, after hearing of Natti’s destiny from Isis’s own lips, he realizes they have bigger issues to worry about. Especially when one stupid slip up leads the god of chaos himself straight to their doorstep. Now Natti is the god’s prisoner, and Set holds the key to unlocking the location of the secret name of Ra. Can Seth save Natti from her own destiny and thwart the demented god’s rise to power?

Last book of the series and I was so excited to see what happens in the book. How the prophecy was going to work and what Seth and Natti will do. It was the puzzle that I could not put together with Natti’s constant whim as nonbeliever and Seth’s overprotective nature and firm decision of not solving the puzzle. Rise of Set, Natti prisoner of Set and Seth on his constant effort of protecting Natti, but of course cannot change the destiny. With all that finding Name of Ra looked even more impossible.

Characters-
Seth was overprotective, arrogant, and egoistic, even hid things from Natti that he should not. Because of his overprotective nature lead him to do stupid things and gave Set a clue to how to find them. Till this point I was little disappointed by his actions. I don’t understood how Natti was cooperating his dominant nature which was opposite herself. But after that point I so liked him.

Natti– I’m not happy with heroine. She is main reason I have cut the stars. How much proof a person needs to start believing the things going on around her and take it seriously! All she was whiny emotional teenage girl, that worked in wrong way except the end or during her visits in Duat. I just can’t believe she was letting a God of chaos control over few things and even believing his lies. Uh, I don’t like her. All I wanted for her was to fight even though he was a God and she couldn’t possibly win against him but I wanted her to at least use her little bit of power or whatever it takes to fight.

The only person I liked most in the book except Seth, was Anubis. I won’t say more about him but he is the only underworld God whom I like in mythologies.

Set– most terrifying antagonist I have read in any book. This dude will achieve higher rank among villains. He made my blood boiling whenever I was reading chapters including this character.

What I liked-
Book was narrated from the perspective of Seth, Natti, and Set alternatively. Again, like second book, the narration from antagonist’s POV gave the idea about his mindset and also gave hints on what will happen next. I liked writing in whole series, it’s captivating that I somehow forgot mention before.

Connection between Seth and Natti and their love for each other was indefinable, specifically Seth’s devotion for Natti was so adorable. When Seth said he was loyal to no God but only Natti, that dude just won my heart right there and then.

Mythology, of course was best in the book. Loved the tales told by Anubis, about Isis, his birth, his real father, and issues between Ma’at and Isis. That whole part I honestly didn’t know. It was new to me and so damn interesting. Other fact about Set before he actually turned toward darkness, the information Set gave to Natti, and Ma’at’s promise was shocking. The whole tale by leader of scorpion was awesome. I could see author’s full on research for this book. Such interesting tales makes me read this genre more and more. In short, there was good amount of mythology.

Their journey toward the Name of Ra, around last 40% of the book and the worldbuilding in that part, the way story was going, and twists in this portion was mind blowing. If the whole book would be like that I would have given full stars for sure. One thing I learned that God surely works in mysterious ways and I can’t believe how much family dramas Gods have themselves. Humans are exactly like them only we lack is immortality and gifts. 😉

There was so much mystery in the book- The nightmare, Flail and Crook, prophecy, Gods, Name of Ra. Character’s emotional status made it so unpredictable. But the end of the book, I guess that I predicted very early, may be in second book or before, I knew this was going to happen in the end but little differently. Even though I enjoyed reading it. And that little twist about Ra and myth at the end, just loved it.

why not 5 stars
As I said heroine were disappointing. I expected heroine stronger at least in this final book but she was not. And Epilogue- I wanted to read more in that like what happened to Mandy and in temple of Setemple.

Overall, fast paced, interesting mythology. Could be more good if heroine was strong and smart. Even though, I enjoyed reading most of part of the book. I definitely like to read more from this author.

This is the third book in a trilogy and needs to be read in order. The book series is marketed to older teens, because it contains sexual content that is not always consensual. The books are based upon a cult of followers of the ancient Egyptian god Set, the god of Chaos. Set, and his followers, have no respect for women and use their bodies for pleasure and sacrifice. Usually both.

Seth is the son of the high priest of Set. He's been raised to believe that he was the next link in the chain for power, and that raising Set from his half-life in the underworld of Duat would lead Seth and his fellow Sons to glory and power. They are wealthy and careless, men, these Sons, enslaving women with chemicals and their innate Blessings--for Seth this is his Compulsion charm. Seth is a powerful Charmer, but his Compulsion didn't work on newcomer Natara "Natti" Stone. Back in Book One he was attracted to Natti, and learned (even before she did) that she was a Daughter of Isis, and the last of her people to be Blessed by Ma 'at. Seth's father learned of her magic and wanted her for the ultimate sacrifice to raise Set. Seth stepped in the path of this destruction in Book Two.

Now, in Book Three, Seth knows he loves Natti--even if "love" is the antithesis of the Sons' teachings. Natti knows that she returns Seth's love, and entrusts him with ultimate power over her developing powers. THis si a precarious position, becasue Seth is very much torn in his loyalites. His father is the most powerful Son, but his mother was an unknown Daughter of Isis. He's a "cursed" and disowned by both sects. Good thing Natti's got enough love to shore him up.

That said, all bets are off when Seth's father's able to raise Set...sorta. See, Set still needs a bit of magic to restore his full powers, including immortality, and Natti's the pure of heart one who is able to obtain the magic, with Seth's help. Thing is, Set wants Natti for his wife, and he's ruthless in stealing both her lifeforce and compelling Seth to heal her time and again so he can drink her essence to fuel his powers.

This unlikely and unwilling trio must travel to the Underworld via a magical gate that only Seth can open to find the hidden name of Ra which bears the magic necessary to restore Set fully, and allow him to kill Seth and join with Natti. Neither of them want to help, but the alternative is death--Seth a soulless one, due to his connection with Set and Natti to be Set's unwilling wife in the Duat. If they can somehow stop (or better yet KILL) Set before they reach their destination Natti and Seth might just get the chance to return to high school... ;)

Expect lots of death, a fair bit of destruction and more than one resurrection. Expect to be very much unsettled by the callous treatment of women by the Sons of Set, and Set himself. The book is an interesting supernatural fantasy, with well-drawn characters. Natti is a girl on her own, with her heart tied to a boy who could crush it, or revere it. Seth is a boy raised to be cold and finally thriving in the love of a pure-hearted girl. It's a good v. evil clash that has plenty of evil and wee bit of good. Praise Ra it was possible to save the day, at last.

Really liked this conclusion!

The Writing:
As always this book was great to read. Maybe it wasn't as easy or fast as the first two but I think that has something to do with my mood and the time I could spend reading.
We have three POVs: Seth, Natti and Sean. Basically that is great though I didn't really like to read Sean POV because I wanted to know what was happening with Natti and Seth but it was interesting to read what were doing the bad guys.

The Story:
This story for sure doesn't give you a minute to rest. There is always something happening, they are in danger or on the run so your attention is always focus in the book for any change.
This didn't leave behind the easy flirt and humour and that was great.
Other thing I'm so happy is that no matter the situation or ages I didn't get frustrated with Natti or Seth. This is quite weird and so valuable so, thank you Kelsey for that.
The end was so good, like unexpected, full of action and emotion. For me a perfect ending.

The Characters:
Natti and Seth: I'm so happy with these two. As I said before despite of their age they were so mature and not frustrating. Many times authors make childish frustrating characters but this wasn't one. They would do anything for the other, and they knew it, didn't fight it, just such a deep love. They are great.
There was other character I really disliked. You know who I'm talking about if you have read this and if you haven't once you read it you will know.

This was a great trilogy and the ending was just great. If you like YA adventure books with a lot of mythology this is for you. Plus, an amazing romance I wish I had.

About eight years ago, I published the final novel in the Descendants of Isis trilogy. That day was an emotional roller coaster. I knew I was going to miss Natti and Seth, but at the same time, I was happy they got the ending they deserved. Revisiting Name of Ra so many years later, I found that bittersweet feeling has not changed.

This was a superb end to the Descendants of Isis Series. The final novel will keep you on the edge of you seat. This last adventure takes Seth and Natti to the very edge of reality. You will learn what Seth's role is in mystery and how Natti fights to avoid her destiny. And just when you thought that the villains couldn't get nastier, they do, but Karma comes around. Truly a fitting end. Loved it!

Received in exchange for an honest review.

Wow what an ending. My only hope is every once in a while we will see a story on how Natti and Seth are doing. Their adventures and lives. A novella or something because these are two characters who defied the odds and went against everyone and fought their way to where they are and fought for their love for one another.

Seth especially fought his way to Natti and what she offered him. She offered him hope, warmth, understanding and love. She was what kept him going and wanting to change. He walked away from the Sons of Set to keep Natti safe. He fought his inner beast for her. He protected her, sometimes overprotected, so she could change her fate and end the Sons of Set.

Out of the two Seth is my favorite. He may be overprotective but he was also dealing with alot. He knew his father and what the sons were capable of and was afraid for Natti. Not only that he also knew the fate of Natti and what could happen based on what choices she makes along the way. He struggles with himself to fight the beast and keep the Sons of Set from his mind. Although he does make a mistake in a weak moment and it is a big one it wasn’t done maliciously. He is mischievous, sexy, fun, sweet and willling to sacrifice to keep Natti safe and end the Sons of Set from obtaining what they want.

Natti is strong and stubborn. She also at times you can see her age. She is frustrated and lost. All of this is new and what got to me was no matter what she saw or learned she was still trying to not believe in it. Girl it was glaring at you so you can’t deny any longer. That was what kept her from being my favorite. She sometimes acted like it was all not happening and not wanting to believe. She tried to deny her new fate because it took her away from her life. Once she accepted it, she fought against the evil more. She had Seth by her side offering support and strength and that helped. She also learned to get Seth to tell her everything. Even when Seth was trying not to because he wanted her to be ready before he did or he was protecting her you saw her want his knowledge. Which is good but if your not ready even when you claim you are it’s bad. Sometimes she wasn’t ready because of her denial of what was happening and her desire for normalcy.

There adventure was taut with danger, intrigue and love. You saw them fight against those who wanted them to fail, Set himself, and fight for each other. You can see why Seth was chosen by Isis to protect Natti. He would give up everything including his life for her. Natti would do the same. They fought for one another but also to keep Set from becoming all powerful.

This tale is one you learn mythology from but also see characters grow and love grow as well. You see tough decisions made and love never die only be delayed. Natti and Seth bring us on an adventure of danger and a journey of love that draws you in from the beginning and has you rooting for them to the end. It is well written and in both Natti’s and Set’s view with occasionally a look at Seth’s thoughts. It is Set that creeped me out. Man was that dude dark and just ech. Our story never wanes in excitement and keeping you wanting more. the writing and characters lure you in and never let you go in this wonderful ending that has so many reveals and twists and turns with lots of danger and plenty of love and seeing love sacrifice and win. Just hope we see more of them and this series.

Nattie and Seth are still on the run from his father and trying to find out what the future holds . When Seth finds out Natti's destiny there is a bigger problem then just staying away from his dad . After the God of Chaos comes alive and inhabits his fathers body . It is a race against time to free Natti from the God's prison . Seth is the only one that can save her and holds the key to unlocking the location of the secret name of Ra . Can Natti and Seth survive the demon and find the secret name of Ra or will the demon God stop them .
Natti and Seth are back and fighting harder then ever . Natti is working hard to come into her powers as Seth is trying to protect her and figure out the riddles of Ra. Natti is strong and stubborn but at times she really does show how young she is . She gets frustrated a lot of the time and sometimes just feels like she is lost in her own mind. Seth is overprotective and he is also carrying a lot of stress on his shoulders . He is also a sweet , fun , sexy and has a mischievous smile that will melt a girls heart . They make a cute couple and they have a bond that is very hard to break .
This is the last book in the series and wow what a book it is . It is packed full of action and there is teenage angst and some romance to go along with it . The characters are well written and have gotten complex . The author does take us on a very emotional rollercoaster ride . We get to see them fall in love and fight the evil that threatens to take over the world . The author did a great job entwining the mythology with a love story . If you like Egyptian mythology this is a good series for you . This would be a great series for the older teens on your list and for you also . So if you want a great series for your winter reading list check them out

"I want to start saying Seth is absolutely lovely. Can we talk about his love and loyalty to Natti? It's absolutely incredible plus we have more physical connection lol. It might sound weird but for someone who love and craves for the moments that could burn out my kindle this YA series was some sort of challenge cause we'll there's no real action though there weren't detail scenes. Anyway, I'm happy that Seth and Nate broke that barrier. Back to the story, the threat is still there. My heart still ached for Seth and well pretty much for everything. Surely, it wasn't an easy path for them. I must confess I cried, not saying more just... man it hurted! Once again, I loved Seth! It was a great series indeed. Everlasting love, right?"

Set has risen and time is running out for both Seth and Nattie. Seth is trying to train her to be able to defend herself against an attack which leads to a lesson in spells gone wrong and pinpoints their location for set to find them.

In Set's clutches, they are both held prisoner with their lives depending on finding Ra's true name. To get it they must journey through the portal and to Isis's temple where it is hidden. Only two fates await them, either Seth's death and Nattie by Set's side or with Set's downfall.

This is the conclusion of Nati and Seth's adventures. What a great ending to the trilogy. I really hated for it to end. Seth was a son of set but he couldn't let them hurt Nati . As a daughter of isis she is to protect the name of Ra but she was never in the know until now. Seth's father and the sons of set are giving chase. There is lots of adventure to go but you have to read it for yourself 😉 I don't want to spoil the ending. It is a great ending

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

We are back again with Seth and Natti who are on the run and are hiding out from Seth’s father. His father wants Natti for his own. The only reason he wants her is because she is the secret keeper and is the only one who can get him want he truly wants which is the Name of Ra. He wants to raise their God Set from the dead. He wants to have more power than anyone and he also wants control of the whole world but he just might be in for a rude awakening.

Seth has been raised to believe in the God of Set and that he is to obey him no matter what. He has also been taught that he is not to have anything to do with the Daughters of Isis. He is ok with this until one of the daughters moves to his town and starts going to the same school that he does. Seth doesn’t know that she is a Daughter of Isis in the beginning but he does find out before she does so herself. Seth is a very strong and talented young man. He is a very strong charmer. He can make anyone or almost anyone do his will if he so desires. Well with the exception of Natti that is.

Natti doesn’t know anything about being a Daughter of Isis or the Sons of Set. Her family has kept all of that hidden from her, her whole life. When Natti first laid eyes on Seth she was very attractive to him. She did not know that he had any special abilities and that he could literally have any girl he wanted and did well that is except her of course. But it didn’t take her long to figure out what was going on. She found out about his powers and that was why every girl in school hung out with him. Even though she liked Seth she didn’t want anything to do with him because she wasn’t sure if she actually felt want she did or if Seth was using his powers on her like he did with all of the other girls.

When Seth found out what his father had in plan for Natti he took her and left town with her. Seth and Natti both figured out that she was immune to his powers and that he couldn’t make her like him or that she could fight off his powers. Seth gave up everything thing in his life for instance like becoming the leader of the Sons of Set after his father’s reign to keep Natti safe. Seth and Natti fell so hard and deeply in love with each so much so that they would each give their own lives for the other. They would both fight tooth and nail for the other. If they had to die and give up their life to keep the other alive then they would. Seth would do anything for Natti and Natti would do anything for Seth and the world at large. Natti had one great big heart and didn’t have a selfish bone in her body. Natti would never let Seth’s father have his way with her and she would never let him take Seth from her no matter what it cost her.

I have enjoyed reading the Descendants of Isis and I am sad to be leaving Seth and Natti behind. I am going to miss them so much. You know you have read a good book when you start missing the characters long before you get through reading the last book. I am going to miss the love that they both had for each other and the way that they interacted with each other as well. I loved their playfulness. They are two of the best characters that I have read. I hope that we get to see more of Natti and Seth in the future. But if not I hope that Kelsey has more books and stories that is just waiting to be told. I can’t wait to read more of her work and I recommend the Descendants of Isis to anyone who just loves a good book. As the saying goes it is “off the chain.” I loved the world of the Descendants of Isis and want more of it.

Thank you to YA Bound Book Tours and author Kelsey Ketch for providing me with a copy of this in exchange for an honest review!

Find this review and more on my blog The Rest Is Still Unwritten!

Name of Ra is the third and final novel in Kelsey Ketch’s Descendants of Isis trilogy and brings the series to a powerful and endlessly exciting conclusion!

After the events of Son of Set, Natti and Seth are on the run. Having rescued the woman he loves from being a sacrifice to the god Set, Seth is keen to keep Natti as far away from the Sons of Set as possible. Yet when Set rises and manages to take Natti prisoner, Seth and Natti find themselves in a race against time, not only to get Natti out of the evil God’s clutches, but to stop Set from discovering Ra’s secret name and obtaining untold power. Trapped as Set’s prisoner, Natti is subjected to the god’s attempts at seduction, and must come to embrace her true destiny, lest she be tricked into becoming Set’s queen and seeing him rule the world…..

I must say, I have enjoyed reading this series and will be sad to see it go. Kelsey Ketch has done a great job weaving together her world, and I’ve enjoyed seeing the story unfold through both Natti and Seth’s eyes. Well written, Descendants of Isis has been a fast paced and exciting series, although a lot of the content wouldn’t be suitable for a younger YA audience due to the sexual themes and situations depicted in the books.

Having been to hell and back, Name of Ra is the final chance for Natti and Seth to stand against Set and stop him from taking control of untold power. Personally I think both Natti and Seth have come a long way in this series; especially Seth who grew up in the Sons of Set who believed women were their playthings and who took what they wanted, when they wanted. It was only through loving Natti that Seth came to realise just how wrong most of his actions were, and I think this really helped shape who he is by the end of this book.

A lot of history comes to light in Name of Ra, and much of what Natti’s mother and Seths ancestors went through fall into place. We discover the meaning behind the prophecies surrounding Natti and finally discover just what Isis meant for her all along. Stakes have never been as high for our two lovers are they are in Name of Ra, and I have to give Kelsey Ketch props—she really makes you feel their desperation. Especially towards the end and once they are in the clutches of Set, considering he has the ability to do unspeakable things to Natti. It’s very powerful to read about, especially when tragedy strikes.

Fast paced, exciting and riveting, Name of Ra is a great way to conclude the series. I’m sad to say goodbye to Natti and Seth, but I’m thrilled with the way Kesley Ketch brings this series to a close and am thoroughly glad I’ve taken the time to read these books!

This is the last book of the trilogy, which I suggest you read them first to understand. In this book Seth, the son of a high priest of Set, knows he is in love with Natti, but being “cursed” because of his situation, he is torn between his loyalties and teachings with what he feels.

Seth needs a bit of magic to restore his powers, while Natti can only gain magic with Seth’s help. Set also wants Natti, so he will make everything to get her. They all get into different situations trying to restore Set, and Seth has to help to get into the Underworld.

The book is very well structured, very detailed and has a lot of action. Not the usual YA book as the way they treat woman is not ordinary, so it’s for older teens due to the sexual situations described in the series. I think the book was a great conclusion to the series. I recommend reading them and will be looking forward for what Kelsey writes next.

When the opportunity to review Name of Ra came it was a no brainer, however as it was the third in a series, I actually had to take time to read the first 2 books. Not what I consider a chore and I was done with all 3 in 2 days and left wanting more. I think I had to put the Name of Ra down at 5:30 am and force myself to sleep because I still had work in the morning. Don’t you just hate that having to earn a living gets in the way of a good story?

This is the kind of book I like, good pace, pretty good characters, and really interesting plot and some really good baddies that I love to despise. Yes, this one made me really really happy. Can I have more please?

Overall it is a fantastic series and Name of Ra is a wonderful conclusion, I highly recommended it. How could I not when I keep wanting more.

I'm so happy to have the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. Since it was the finale, I was anxious to read it but nervous that I wouldn't get the ending that I was looking for. I was wrong :)
I have to say that this was a very satisfying conclusion. It was believable(as much as mythology can be) and it wrapped up all the loose ends.
My only issue, the reason I docked .5 of a star, is that it seemed to not flow at some points and seemed to be a bit choppy. However, it really didn't take away from the story as much as I thought.
I'm going to miss Seth and Natti! I hope we'll see more in the future.

I was expecting a more lighthearted Egyptian myth-based teen drama.
But this is way way intense.

I applaud Kelsey's imagination and the story lines.
Seth is a hero to like. I really liked his transition and his reasons for the change.

Natti - not so much.
She was kinda weak and always clinging on Seth.
There was not much substance to her nor much thought given to her actions.
She was a wash-out.

Overall: I like this for the creative intense ideas around Egyptian mythology.
