When Eve Fenley’s dream research trip to Scotland is almost ruined by her brother’s dirt bike accident, she makes the terrifying choice to travel solo for the sake of her budding writing career. Cute, even though I was personally offended by Crown Burger being mentioned as a ‘NICE DATE LOCATION’.

This one just wasn’t for me. I love Arlem Hawks, but this had way too much exposition and not enough authentic character development. Still fun to read something different from such a good author!

Whether Arlem Hawks is writing historical romance or contemporary, she is a master at weaving a story that pulls you right in and keeps your attention until the last page.
Eve is excited for her trip to Scotland with her brother. However, the day before they are supposed to leave, her brother gets in an accident and is no longer able to go. When Eve decides to go on the trip by herself, her brother asks his best friend, Jordan, to take his place - the kicker is that Eve has held hurt feelings against him for almost 10 years.
Jordan has had a rough go the last little bit and when his best friend asks him to take his place on the Scotland trip, he agrees. And this could be a way to find out why Eve hates him as he has wondered for years what he did wrong. While the trip has some hiccups, the beauty and magic of Scotland starts to stir up feelings.
This is a great story. I loved the interactions between Eve and Jordan. It was fun to watch their relationship evolve. And even though we have a 3rd act run - not really a breakup, but more of a run - I could totally see Jordan's point and just felt for both of them. I liked how Jordan was a gentleman and a little protective of Eve and how as Eve warmed up to him, she started to try to help Joran. While things do get rocky, I loved the ending and we do get a HEA.
After you read the story, make sure to review the map again as you'll have a better appreciation for it and I'm sure you'll chuckle like I did.

The setting was easily my favorite part of the book. Between the winding Highland roads, scenic train travel, and beautiful landscapes, I felt like I was exploring Scotland alongside Eve and Jordan. Since my own family has Scottish and Irish roots, I especially enjoyed the genealogy woven into Jordan’s family history. It added an extra layer that made the story more meaningful for me.
This is a sweet, clean romance with only kisses and no foul language, making it a great choice for readers who enjoy wholesome contemporary romance.
While I enjoyed the story, I found myself connecting more with the setting and the journey through Scotland than with the romance itself. This is a light hearted contemporary romance that contains kisses only and no language or even innuendo that I can recall.
I've read several of Arlem Hawks' historical books and have found several of them to be on the gritty, heavier side, often focusing on wartime events. This is her first foray into contemporary romance.
She certainly made me want to book a trip to Scotland! As she mentioned in the author's note, she had taken a research trip to Scotland for a different novel. I can only imagine what that will contain if it is a historical book, like I am assuming. But she also used those experiences to create a delightful contemporary story.
There were a few quirks I felt in the relationship between Eve and Jordan, but overall I enjoyed the journey. I loved the Highland coos but did find that I missed some of the other obviously Scottish references, although I don't think I could bring myself to try Haagis if I were to get to visit. I really want a souvenir sweatshirt like is described though! If anyone of my friends go to Scotland... Take my order!
I do hope the author will continue to write not only the historical stories but will try another contemporary. Also, I really need to listen to this audio... I need to hear those accents!

Arlem Hawks always writes such beautiful historical stories so I was really intrigued to read her new venture into contemporary romance. Set in my home country of Scotland made it even more exciting for me - and it truly lived up to my expectations!
Eve is on her dream trip to Scotland, but Jordan was NOT the travel companion she wanted with her. Still carrying the hurt from something that occurred years ago, she has no desire for Jordan to ruin her trip!
Eve and Jordan were both great characters and I loved their interactions and how they changed and evolved as the trip progressed. Despite some bumps in the road (both literal and metaphorical!), the magic and beauty of their Scottish road trip slowly opens up a genuine connection. But can it last beyond Scotland?
As wonderful as Eve and Jordan’s relationship was, the setting was what made the story stand out most for me. The descriptions of the scenery, the castles, the road to Applecross (which I can confirm is NOT for the faint hearted!) were beautifully written and did a wonderful job of transporting you there. The research on Scotland and Scottish history was also evident throughout and added a lovely depth to the story beyond the romance and perhaps a little nod to Arlem’s mastery of historical romances too!

-My friends, have you ever been to Scotland?! I for one have not been in real life but, want to go one day, especially after reading this story. SEE YOU IN Scotland, is a delightful story that will take you on a wonderful immersive adventure to Scotland. Inside this story, the details, imagery, humor, swoon, plot twists had my full attention from start to finish. The way this story is written made me feel as if I was transported right there as a fly on the wall, along for ride on the twisty roads of the Highlands!
-From writing mainly historical novels, to jumping into the contemporary genre world for the first time, I was impressed by @arlemhawks and her ability to write another dear story weaved with such heart, hope, healing, redemption, forgiveness, and courage. Overcoming past hurts, forgiving for her characters, was inspiring. I loved that her characters also had a love for writing their own story, who research, and then choose bring their own adventure to life. Taking the risk to live and opening hearts for something more was so satisfying. I am already looking forward to more ahead in this genre by @arlemhawks I so enjoyed the humor, tension, forced proximity, the quiet moments, the small sweet supportive gestures, and the longing were so well done! This is a cute quick-paced story worth the read!🙌🏻📚❤️

There is so much to love about See You in Scotland. I loved the way the trip to Scotland felt. It was almost like I was there with the characters experiencing the coos, and the islands, the tea shop, and the castle.
I loved Eve and Jordan! They've been enemies since high school when Jordan's teasing went too far. But when Eve's brother gets injured right before their big trip to Scotland, he sends Jordan in his place and Eve is stuck with him for the whole trip. I love that Eve decides she's going to have a great time, regardless of him being there, and that kind of opens her up to seeing that he's not as bad as she thinks he is.
Jordan is a really great guy. He has had some setbacks in his life in the last bit. And he really needed the trip to Scotland to kind of regroup and figure out what to do next. I love that he's concerned about what happened between him and Eve and that he wants to fix it and be better.
I will be dreaming of going to Scotland for the next while and allowing this story and setting to live rent free in my head!

4.5 stars: This was a sweet contemporary romance about a girl in her mid-20s finally getting to take her dream trip to Scotland...except her brother's best friend comes with her instead of her brother. The limited timeline and forced proximity between a couple who had known each other for years was so fun! The family history element was fascinating and I wished we got to see more of Jordan finding out about his heritage; his family weren't really characters, and hers were a little one-note in how supportive they were of the relationship. With that, there were a few points that felt like there was less tension than I expected; for example, I thought their train getting stopped would be a bigger deal. I did like that although this was about an aspiring writer, we didn't get any cringy early draft snippets and the focus was on her living her life. I also appreciated how well drawn the setting was. I really enjoyed this!

What a fun journey through Scotland. Eve and her brother, Keith had planned a fabulous trip to Scotland together. Eve was planning on research for a book she was writing, her brother was supposed to meet a business associate for a couple days in London then go with Eve to Scotland. The best laid plans didn't happen. After crashing on a dirt bike while riding with his best friend, Jordan, the day before his trip with Eve, Keith decides to send Jordan in his place.
Eve was unaware until Jordan showed up on the plane. Eve hasn't looked Jordan in years. He made fun of something dear to her in high school and she hasn't given him the time of day since.
This is truly an enemy to more genre. I loved experiencing Scotland along with Eve and Jordan. I also loved seeing how their perceptions of each other changed throughout the trip. The love and support and friendship that grew.

When Eve Fenley and Jordan McLeod end up having to travel to Scotland together it becomes a time of healing and reconciliation with a bonus- a chance at love. Jordan does a great job in covering up his insecurities with his charming and easygoing manner. Spending times with Eve was just what he needed. I found Eve to be a great encourager to Jordan and I was happy to see that she could finally talk about things from the past, forgive, and move on.

Arlem Hawks has done it again, but this time her success is in a new genre of contemporary romance, rather than historical fiction. Hawks newest book starts off innocently and predictably enough with Eve anxious to leave on a trip to Scotland with her brother. When her brother gets injured due to some impulsivity with his BFF and the BFF (Jordan) switches spots with him on the trip, it’s easy to predict what will happen between Eve and Jordan. But it’s HOW things change between the two characters that is where Arlem Hawks always shines in her writing. She can create realistic characters with backstories and dreams that figure out how to be together that had me zooming through this newest novel. Also, for those who love Hawks historical writing, she still finds ways to include some historical snippets in this novel. Loved it!

I love Regency stories as much as the next bookworm (book dragon?), but there's something so comfortable about slipping into a good contemporary book. Buckle up because Arlem Hawks is taking us on all the road trip adventures you could only dream up (but apparently some/most came from real life!).
The characters are fun and real and broken. They irritate and attract each other every step of the way. They hold grudges and tease, commiserate together and ignore one another. They do figure it out in the end (yay HEA!) in this hugs and kisses only closed door romance (there is only one bed on this journey where they sometimes pose as siblings but never cross the pillow wall).

This was a fun read. Contemporary is not usually my genre of choice since it generally doesn't seem like enough of an escape for me. I suspected this would be different, though, set in Scotland and about an aspiring author. I was right. I really enjoyed reading about Eve's and Jordan's misadventures.
I liked the characters a lot too. I understood both Eve's vulnerability about what happened in high school and Jordan's confusion. I was happy to see both characters grow during this novel, becoming more sure of themselves. And Eve was so patient and understanding.
I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a sweet contemporary read.

It’s really fun to read a book by an author who is stepping out of their typical genre and into something new. It was the perfect transition from historical fiction to contemporary romance, to have a story about a writer doing research for a book. They say to write what you know, and this advice definitely worked for this novel.
I loved the premise of this book. Getting to know someone better during a trip of a lifetime. I also loved experiencing travel through their adventures. The ups and downs of international travel were fun and humorous.
The problem is that when Eve planned this trip with her brother, she did not expect her brother’s best friend to take his place. The same friend that made fun of her writing and made her give it up for years. Can she find a way to enjoy her trip and hang onto her goals, while traveling with someone like that?

Fun, Humorous, and Just Lovely!
Call this Grump/Sunshine, Enemies to Lovers, or whatever you want, but this was such a great contemporary romance! Eve and Jordan are deep, relatable characters and I love their history together. I love that there are hilarious, embarrassing moments convinced with vulnerable, touching moments. I know Arlem Hawks had only written historical fiction (which I love!!!), before this novel, so I was very pleased that her beautiful writing style and talent for deep, realistic characters came through perfectly in this modern story. Absolutely lovely. This one is definitely on my re-read list.
Call this Grump/Sunshine, Enemies to Lovers, or whatever you want, but this was such a great contemporary romance! Eve and Jordan are deep, relatable characters and I love their history together. I love that there are hilarious, embarrassing moments convinced with vulnerable, touching moments. I know Arlem Hawks had only written historical fiction (which I love!!!), before this novel, so I was very pleased that her beautiful writing style and talent for deep, realistic characters came through perfectly in this modern story. Absolutely lovely. This one is definitely on my re-read list.

I have loved all of Arlem’s historical novels, so I was very excited to read her first contemporary novel. Enemies to more is one of my favorite tropes!
I enjoyed the descriptions of Scotland and travels of the main characters. I’ve always wanted to go to Scotland. Maybe someday.

This book was SO fun!! There were so many sweet and funny moments in this, and I loved watching these characters work through their relationship—not only with each other but also with themselves.
It was such a perfectly cozy summer read. Be it an adventure at sea, or a chaotic trip to Scotland, Arlem always knows how to transport you to another world!

This was such a fun book! I loved everything about it.
Eve was awesome and I really connected with her character. I thought her and Jordan were perfect. I loved how they both had issues to work through but were able to do that together, it was beautiful.
And of course, I loved the journey through Scotland! And all their little misadventures, it was just so entertaining. I loved it!

You guys, this book is SOOO good!!! It was such a fun, easy, and engaging read—one I desperately needed to pull me out of all my slumps!
The journalism background, the itch for traveling, the urge to write a book, knowing the initial fear of driving on the other side of the road for one, AND driving on the edge of a cliff on the other side of the road (though not nearly as much of a cliff as Eve endured, haha). Through all of that, I felt so connected to this story! It was so fun and lighthearted!
Not to mention the kiss in the bookstore. . . 🥰🥰

This is Arlem Hawks' first contemporary romance and I'd say she did a great job. Eve has planned a trip to Scotland with her brother Keith. When Keith ends up not being able to come, she goes on her own. From the beginning of her trip it is fraught with surprises, adventure, and many things going wrong.
The writing is well done and the scenery and setting is a dream. It has made me want to go and see it for myself.
There are no swears or alcohol and level 1 kisses only. Dual POV.

When I pick up a book like this I already know how it is going to end. The enjoyment is in the journey and this was a fun journey! The writing made me feel like I was on the trip with them and as someone who loves to travel it was great! The characters felt real and their interactions felt real. There was plenty of drama and sweet interactions and friction and kissing that I had to keep reading quickly. What a fun read!

When her dream research trip to Scotland almost becomes a lost dream Eve decides she's going to go on her own without her brother who had agreed to be her driver. When Jordan her brothers best friend shows up on her flight Eve gives him the cold shoulder she's avoided being around him since he humiliated her nearly ten years ago.

The banter between Eve and Jordan is just what I’ve expected. But what’s more impressive is the information on Scotland and travel experiences which I also made. Travelling with Eve and Jordan was a lot of fun. I seriously don’t know if I should travel to Salt Lake just to see the airport. I loved the atmosphere which Arlem Hawks created.

Light contemporary romance, an enemies-to-lovers love story, set against the charming backdrop of Scotland. it transports the reader to Scotland's beautiful atmosphere. It delivers an engaging romance with good chemistry between the characters.

This was fun and cute! I visited Scotland a decade ago, and this definitely made me want to go back! I appreciated the dialogue among the characters - they grew and listened to each other even through some difficult conversations.

I loved this story! It felt plausible which can be tricky with contemporary stories. It was fun and made me laugh! While also breaking my heart because they are human and humans make choices that hurt each other. I also very much want to go to Scotland now even more than before!

Thoroughly enjoyed this clean swoony romance. I love an enemies to lovers story with beautiful scenery. The sparks between them felt realistic.
