I've always loved books, especially about monsters and magic, so I started writing. I'm working on a prequel and the next few books in the Others of Edenton series, and I have a head full of stories to share.

I'm a stay at home mother with a wonderful husband who lets me write and write to my hearts content.

Doug, the Night’s Embrace band member in the Others of Seattle series get his story in Summer Rhythm and what a delightfully sweet read it is.

Doug Walsh has always been captivated by one girl and he’ll do everything in his power to keep his fool heart intact when he spots her years later. Chloe is back and this time she is determined to take her life by the reins and live it her way and then means making up for past mistakes in the hopes of winning back the boy she fell for and her mother forbade. These two characters are strong and easily captivate readers with their story as they work to overcome the past in order to hope for the future and this heartfelt romance keeps readers on the edge of their seat as the couple try to overcome family obstacles.

Summer Rhythm, although short, is a delightful read with wonderful characters that captured my heart. It is a spinoff of Night’s Embrace, although it is a standalone story. If being read in conjunction with the Others of Seattle series, it should be read after number four to prevent spoilers because the characters from the series do make appearances.

First love, first crush, both are sweet and worth hanging on.
Doug was never able to resist Chloe, but she walked out on not once, but twice. Years later after collage and some life she walks back into his life, did he learn his lesson or will he let her walk back into his life.
Chloe's let people like her Mother to dictate her life and decisions for way too long, her Mother wanted her to merry one man and kept telling her the Doug was nothing but a cheap musicians,
Chloe hops though to convince and prove to him that she is back for good and that she loves him above anything.
Will they be able to let the past be the past and walk into the future hand in hand, to find out all you have to do is read this story, its a simple loving story, and the characters all fantastic, well maybe not Mrs Mae.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

Brandy L Rivers is one of my favorite authors so when a new book lands on my kindle I get a little giddy. This book is about Doug the only non-magical guy in Nights Embrace.

In high school Doug really like Chloe but he was not high enough on the social ladder for Chloe’s mother. Chloe broke Doug's heart more than once. Now she is back in town and has learned more about herself and who she is and what she wants. Question is does Doug want to take a chance on Chloe?

Chloe is shocked to find out her Dad hired Doug to play at a fundraiser. She also found out other surprises she about her sister who always took her moms side of things. I loved the direction and flow of this story. You see a family drift apart and come back together. It also shows how one bad apple doesn't always spoil the whole bunch. Given time is it possible love can overcome everything?

Once again Brandy L Rivers has done a great job. This was a great addition to Others of Seattle. I so enjoyed learning more about Doug and his past and getting to know Chloe too.

A few of my favorite lines:

“You’re being a dick,” Jordan called. “Trust me, as the king of all dicks, you’re taking dickdom to a whole new level.”

“That’s too good. Mom’s the one who rules our social lives. I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t even know your name. Only that I crushed on the music geek instead of the guy she wanted me to go for.” “You crushed on me in high school?”

I had received this arc for an honest review.
This Others of Seattle novella is about Doug, the charismatic, knock your socks off musician in Nights Embrace and the girl who always seemed to steal his heart.
Chloe has never given herself to any man, but Doug. Only to be told that she can never have what she truly wants by her socialite mother, Chloe focuses on trying to do something in life that can make a small difference.
Two souls that never seem to meet at the right time for forever, yet yearn for their other half. Doug and Chloe grew up a lot since they last saw each other, trying to make a difference in a common bond they always had. People aren't always as they seem at first and trouble is closer to home than expected. Can Doug let the past go when it comes to Chloe?
I loved this non paranormal story. I can't wait to read more!

The best intentions...

A politically charged family stars in this Others of Seattle novella. There are pretentious parents, strong willed children, and wonderful musicians. I enjoyed this story and think you will too. And now a bit about the story...

Chloe has loved Doug since she was little, but her mom has never approved. So instead of following her romantic heart she leaves Doug behind. However she does follow her passion and becomes a doctor, instead of the lawyer her mother wanted her to be. Now she is done with school and back to Seattle, can she still find happiness with Doug?

Favorite passage: “I made mistakes. I listened to the wrong people and let them influence my decisions. No more.”

Doug is the musician every girl wants. He has sex appeal and a giving heart.
Chloe has had all her choices taken from her but is fighting to take back control of what she wants.

Can the two of these ill-fated lovers find their way back from the pain of the past?

Doug has always been in the backdrop of The Others, but this book really does a great job of filling in gaps to help us understand him. Enter new girl Chloe and you have a WIN.

Although this is a novella, you really don't get that feeling while you are reading it. There really isn't any stones left un-turned that leave the reader with questions. Great story, great romance, great OTHERS (without going paranormal).

Summer Rhythm is the story of Doug (from the Others of Seattle series) and Chloe written by Brandy L Rivers. Doug and Chloe have a history; unfortunately, for Doug things do not always workout in his favor. Chloe has realized she has made some mistakes when it comes to Doug and wants to make things right. The question is: will Doug give her the opportunity to prove herself?
One thing that makes this book a bit different is that it is not a paranormal romance like the rest of the series. But that is totally okay! The author does a great job in tying the story of Doug to the series. If you enjoyed reading Summer Rhythm, I suggest you read the whole Others of Seattle series!

This is Doug (from Nights Embrace) & Chloe's story & a bit of a departure for Brandy L. Rivers, in that the characters in this story are not Paranormal. But it is just as great a story as any of her Others books.

Chloe has made some mistakes in the past & she broke Doug's heart, not once but twice. She is now back in Seattle & has learned her lesson. She wants another chance with Doug. Will he trust her enough to take yet another chance with his heart. Give this wonderful little novella a chance & find out. You won't be disappointed.

Summer Rhthym"-Brandy L Rivers

I received an ARC of Ms. Rivers' book and went into it with eyes and mind wide open as this was my first time reading her work. I found this to be a sweet, and somewhat sizzling romance that fits nicely into the Summer Fire boxset. The characters were well written and the storyline flowed. Chloe and Doug couldn't fight what their hearts had known all along, they just took the long road to get there.

Although a Seattle spinoff, this story isn't paranormal, but don't let that be a deterrent. Rivers, as usual, proves romance in her strong suit, whether there are shifters involved, or good old-fashioned third chances. Chloe and Doug are both interesting, dynamic characters who are finally ready for one another after their failed attempts in the past. Fun short read.

I enjoyed this this story. I really liked how they fixed a past mistake. They both had some growing to do and to find their own way before meeting again. The chemistry between these two was pretty intense. This story is part of The Summer Fire collection which I am looking forward to reading.
