Liv Albert is the host, creator, and executive producer of the top rated ancient history podcast, Let's Talk About Myths, Baby! Liv studied English Literature and Classical Civilizations and has dedicated the last decade to understanding Greek mythology and the wider Ancient Mediterranean. She lives in Toronto, Canada, with her best friend and their two cats, sweet tuxedo gal Squid, and plucked-from-a-Greek-mountainside gremlin, Anchovy Jr. Her next book, a stunning, illustrated retelling of Homer's Odyssey, melds her knowledge of Epic and Greek Myth with her problematic love of Odysseus, the best-worst hero.
I've actually never read The Odyssey before but am pretty familiar with the story and what it involves. However for those that are not, and especially for younger readers, this is a brilliant retelling of the story.
It is absolutely rammed full of bright colourful illustrations on every page that make it an utter delight for all ages to read through. The illustrations bring the story to life and each and every captivating step along Odysseus's journey leaps off the page at you.
The story itself is condensed down into the essentials, but no important detail is left out.
This is the kind of book that is a beautiful gift and for me personally I will be keeping it downstairs in the living room for guests to be able to flick through at their leisure.
