COMPLETED SERIES TO BE READ IN ORDER

In the small town of Connard, Louisiana, evil hides in plain sight.

WHISPER

Stolen—I was a whisper.
Freedom—it came with a price.

I was a secret.
I don’t even know my full name.
Miss Catherine and Boxer changed my life.
I've started to trust in humanity.
That was until Edge walked into my life.
Now I’m screwed.
I’ve escaped one Hell’s bastard only to be wrenched back towards another.

EDGE

I thought I knew it all.
Even a killer with no conscience can seek redemption.
This mess is gonna get real bad before it gets better.
Unfortunately, it's gonna take me time to realize my mistakes.
It may have started off as a meet-cute, but it sure escalated to life or death.

This is NOT your average love story.
If you like an unpredictable series packed with twists and turns, then you should come meet Edge and Whisper, but be warned, this series is dark, gritty, and sexy.
With a strong female lead and a fearless male lead who will stop at nothing, this love story—because it is indeed a love story wrapped up in a whole lot of action and suspense—will earn your time waiting for the HEA. Wrenched is only the beginning. There's a whole lot more story around the corner.

Contains adult situations which may offend and graphic violence, but it is one hell of a fictional ride. Strap yourself in. For mature aged readers 18 +. This is not a stand-alone series.

What an unexpectedly interesting story!

I think this was more of a thriller than a romance, though there was elements of romance in the book. The two main characters don’t even meet until about 75% or more of the book is over. Up till then is basically whisper’s back story. Though it is a good back story and it is all very integral to the plot as well as the ongoing plot of the series.

The characters are extremely well developed. Whisper is a girl who was raised from 2 years old in the home of Master William. she was basically raised by a woman she called Mistress who never showed her love but never beat her like Master William did. At age 13 when Mistress was no longer necessary, Master William killed her in front of Whisper.

She basically had a tortured existence until she got free. William’s son, was removed from his home at age 11, before Whisper lived with William. Edge is in an MC and is a killer and when he finds out that his father left his estate to Whisper, he intends to harm her.

The book ends in a cliffhanger, but the next is available on KU, so I am going to see what happens next when and if I get some free time.

TITLE: Wrenched
SERIES: (Hell's Bastard, # 1)
AUTHOR: Emma James
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
RELEASE DATE: August 30th 2015

MY RATING: 4 STARS!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I've not read anything by this author before so I'm going to be a virgin reader, love the genre (one of my favourites) and it's mentioned that it's going to be a dark read which ticks another box of mine..Lover of dark reads..Love it more when the book promises and it actually delivers..So fingers cross in this case it's true!!

A lot of five star ratings for this too so I'm really keen to start this!! Ohhhhh and before I forget "My name is Kat Fenton and I am a cover HOE, Lover me this cover" *Licks the screen*

Straight off this Dallas fella sounds a bit of a hard ass..He pretty much lays it all on the line, you shit with me I shit with you..Guessing though you wouldn't live to tell the tale.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We're first introduced to Dallas.

I’m Dallas ‘Edge’ I’m a killer, and I’m fucking good at it. If you are on my radar, or the Soulless Bastards’, then you’d better start praying. if you fuck me, my brothers, or what’s ours over, and it’s deemed your shit’s worth an eye for an eye, then you’re going on our retribution list, because I'll be coming for you and I’ll be your judge, jury, and executioner.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

An alliance between two rival clubs, both have one girl declared missing vanished, into thin air with no trails left behind..

Then Whisper

I’m hanging bound by my wrists, and nobody knows I exist.

Ohhhh shit is going to get interesting!!

This is very easy to get into, enjoying the authors easy flow writing style, her use of words, how straight away you start inhaling what's written..

Some will see this as dark but ones that embrace that dark side often will find this more grey than dark, I've read a lot of dark shit but the grit is there for sure ( This is only my opinion) I enjoyed the uniqueness of this story, slave held captive, I wasn't expecting that aspect in the story and that was a nice surprise..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I loved Whisper the female heroine, shy, softly spoken, and definitely tough when she needed to be, she wasn't this broken down female though she did have trust issues with the opposite sex..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

He was playing me, stalking me, he was going to kill me.

The way this ended will leaving you hanging out for the next book in this series!! And I for one can not wait to read it!!

There are a few questions left un answered which I'm hoping with all be revealed in the next book..

SAM'S REVIEW
5 STARS

If you think this book is anything similar to the Men Of Ocean Beach series, YOU NEED TO STOP RIGHT NOW! The only thing that is the same, is the author, which is the FANTASTIC EMMA JAMES! But in this start to a brand spanking new series, Emma James has delivered something completely different to her usual. She has gone RAW, DARK, GRITTY, TWISTED, HOT, and INSANELY AWESOME, and did I mention ADDICTIVE??!! Well, I can assure you that this whirlwind of emotions throughout the book will capture you!
This book grips you. It makes you NEED the words, it makes you visualise the scenes, it makes you fall in love with the characters no matter how twisted they are.
What I do like is how this book is written in multiple POV's and each character holds a presence whether it is big or small, you will still remember each one.

Whisper..... HOW DAMN PERFECT IS THAT NAME? I simply adore it and once you dive into this story I just know that you will think so too. She is the lead female in the story and what a strong lead she is. She is shy, she is beautiful and has experienced hell! Now trying to find herself, who she is and what the world is about is just a little part of the story.
Edge.....WELL HOW ON EARTH DO I EVEN INTRODUCE YOU TO HIM??? He is a deeply twisted, gorgeous alpha and is Brutal with a capital B. He knows how to torture. He knows what loyalty is. And he is out for revenge, but who will receive the brunt of it?
This book has great twists and sharp turns and I found myself so excited to read every page!
I truly don't believe it would be fair to spoil this story for you. So I'm not even going to attempt it. Readers of MC books, try this new release out. Fans of dark reads, you don't want to miss this. Readers who are feeling a little unsure, bite that bullet baby and get involved.
This read will hook you, it will SHOCK the life out of you, it will make you question your own sanity and it will capture you!

Emma James has delivered an awesome start to a new series and I need 'Warped' in my hands STAT!!!!

HEATHER'S REVIEW
5 STARS

One thing that I adore about Emma James' novels is that they are told in multiple POV. The way everything comes together this writing style is incredible.
Wrenched is like nothing I have ever read before and is the complete opposite of Emma's Ocean Beach series. Wrenched is on the darker side and it's raw and gritty and at times a complete mind eff.
All of the characters, even the "villains" have something to be desired. Her development of both characters and plot is stunning.
This is not a story for the faint of heart. Whisper will have you wanting to hug her tight and Edge will have you wanting to kick and kiss him at the same time.
This book left me breathless- holding on for dear life NEEDING to know what comes next.
5 "edge" of your seat stars.

AMY C'S REVIEW
4 STARS

Heart thumping, senses heightened, and living with sheer innocence, Whisper dreamed of a day when she could break free from the only life she ever knew. Living in a life of servitude, she did as she was told every time not thinking of the what if. Until one day, she was given the chance of knowing what was outside the only walls she'd ever known.

Just her names screams solace. Whisper is recluse and timid. She was raised to not ask questions but to do as she was told. But all that did was put dreams in her head and the thought of more in her heart. I loved that she was like so may layers to just peel away. She looked weak and timid, but her inner strength is what drew me in to her character. She was so much more than appearance alone. Watching her struggle to find herself had me reading for more.

Dallas was wicked and just as his MC says "soulless". He craved the blood he shed and had no problem taking lives that got in his way. Having to go back and tend to his father estate was the furthest thing from his mind and a waste of his energy, until her. Existing in a Whisper she was an anomaly to him and he began to crave more than blood when it came to her. Thus began the need to know her and all that she possessed.

Emma has literally come out of nowhere to steal my heart and become one of my new favorite authors. Her attention to detail is amazing! She prides herself in her work and its very evident. Although this story was darker than her previous works, I enjoyed reading the words Emma expressed. I can't wait for more from her very soon I hope!!!

ERIN'S REVIEW
4 STARS

This story is dark and twisted. It is told from multiple characters POV. The story started a little slow and it took me a little time to figure out where all the characters fit in. But once I got all that sorted I was hooked. I LOVE all the characters. Edge is definitely a ladies man. He is part of an MC but that doesn’t factor into the story at this point in time. Miss Catherine is a wonderful old soul filled with compassion and the need to help people. Boxer is a strong character. He is very good with finding information people don’t want found. Lincoln is a wonderful, caring person. Whisper is a strong character, but severely lacking in social skills. The circumstances of her upbringing leave her with a distrust of people.

The story is dark and full of drama and suspense. Boxer and Miss Catherine have been working with Whisper to teach her the things she should have learned long ago. Edge and Whisper share a moment that absolutely set the pages on fire. There are a few twists I didn’t see coming. I am very excited to see where this series will lead.

Emma James has created a darkly wonderful piece of art. Gritty, poignant and beautiful, I couldn’t put it down!
I experienced such a myriad of strong emotions, ranging from hate to lust. There were scenes that broke my heart and turned my stomach, followed by scenes that left me breathless, with a sense of the ‘calm before the storm’.
I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.

4.5 Ruined stars!

I. Am. Free.

But am I?

I don't know how to be happy. My life has never been happy. I can't switch happy on. I don't know where my life goes from here.

Ughhh did I ever mention how much of a love/hate relationship I have with freakin CLIFFHANGERS!? I mean really? This was an an edge of your seat type of story and to know a cliffhanger was to follow? Damn it...

Ok. short rant over, lets get started.

Addictive

When you are lucky enough to get dealt with an ARC of this beautiful dark story, it's not guaranteed that you'd be sane again after you have finished it. No. Not a chance in hell with Wrenched.

And to say that the story is anything but dark? Yeah that wont happen.

I think to a certain extent, I checked out the day she bled out in front of me. Master William chained me up while he got rid of her body, made me clean up what was left behind.

She was expendable.

She made the mistake of thinking she wasn't.

She had an expiration date.

I mean, how can your mind EVER compete with a messed up bastard that had no soul or conscience, and with what Whisper had to go through, that would be putting it mildly.

I honestly had no emotional control reading this story. None at all. And damn it if I don't prefer dark stories - it's my thing. With Wrenched, your emotions get hijacked, are never returned and you can't help but feel like you wont be the same person once you finish with the story.

Whisper is enclosed in a life that even the devil wouldn't envy.

Fear is a powerful weapon when you know no different...

You'd think that wanting to be dead rather than stay in her current nightmare would say enough about the type of life that she had.

A life where anything but your freedom is given.

A life where someone else is in control of your next breath.

A life that nightmare would be her dream.

A life full of abuse. And what is worse, what could possible be worse than abuse, the fact that you CAN'T even think of freedom or escape or so much as consider a smile that isn't forced. All of that because Whisper HAS. NO. CHOICE.

I look at Boxer, who winks at me, then I do the only thing I know how to do, and that's take orders.

With that said, the story continues to form in an addictive read that has every element of being both intriguing and easy to read. All the characters were made into their own unique personalities..

With Whisper managing to escape the hands of the devil, surprisingly finding him dead before her, she leaves behind a life that was never a life. She escapes into freedom, but how can that be called freedom when she can't forget her past?

Emma James does a great job at having an easy flowing writing that in a way, counterbalances the dark aspects of that evolved throughout the pages. I couldn't get enough of it.

Whisper finally escapes the hands of the devil. That's how the story begins, and it never truly loses it's adrenaline rush. Not even close.

Knowing all her life that only the black should be welcomed and expected in her life, once she finds Miss Catherine, Lincoln and Boxer she FINALLY but slowly gets a glimpse of what freedom can look like. After moments of pure hesitation, because with everything, old habits die hard, Whisper, for the first time in her "life" smiles a smile that slowly started to move her barely beating heart.

Mentally she can never forget what her life evolved around. Physically AND emotionally she has scars that could almost speak for themselves.

Even after months of grasping every opportunity in realising what a normal life should have been like, Whisper can never really leave her past.. even if she thinks that everything is over now..

My life became like a piece of wood that somebody had taken a knife to and whittled into a shape, which could only be changed with more whittling. It couldn't be bent. It did what the whittler pleased.

Edge.

A Soulless Bastards enforcer.

Where to from here?

There are the chicks who would fear us, and then there are the chicks who can't wait to get in our pants. I'm not a hundred percent sure which category she was in at the moment..

She's wild, but in an innocent way.

Revenge + justice are only the beginning, little does he know...

With Edge, I never really knew what to expect. Having read so many MC based books I knew that he would at least be a justice ridden biker with an MC family that would die for one another.

Edge is one of those characters that you expect to be one way, but it's anything but.

I loved that even though his perspective was RIGHT THERE at the beginning, we didn't get to hear from him again until 8 months after Whisper escaped. And boy did I miss him ;)

A sexy, tough and dirty mouthed biker that had one thing on his mind. Revenge. Revenge for the "slut" as he so puts it, that his father left his inheritance to. And who do you think that "slut" would be? I'll give you one guess..

If only he knew that Whisper's relationship (if can even call it anything but survival) with William was of a completely polar fucking opposite of what he was thinking.

I was glad the element of the reader knowing more than the characters was there through parts of the story. It made it believable in a way that makes you wonder how much we truly know about someone else. Judging is so easily BUT lazily done so.

One of the best parts of this story was the way the scenes were created and arranged. Emma James left no trick out of the book. She knew how to capture the readers attention and she never let go. It was so cruel to be at the edge of my seat, and to think I knew what would come next? Huh.

The only part that I could perhaps say made me give it an almost 5? I expected Edge to have been introduced into Whispers life a lot sooner.

I am only saying that as a negative because when ever we were lucky enough to get his point of view, I couldn't get enough. That is exactly why I wanted MORE of Edge. Is that too greedy to ask for? ;)

HOWEVER, saying that, the pacing of the story and the characters specific perspectives were amazingly well crafted.

Knowing you are about to delve into a dark story is hard enough on it's own, but not expecting it to be accomplished so believably is another thing.

It's a rarity to stumble upon (at least in my case) a novel that has the abuse element done so well that you would cry along with the characters. Or that you would want to throw your phone after realising the cliffhanger left you with not only a broken heart, wide eyes and tears streaming down your cheeks; BUT with a jaw that hit the ground..

Yup. I looked like an idiot.

BUT it was worth every last tear, every last gasp, every last scowl AND certainly every last barely exhaled breath from not knowing what the fuck will happen next.

I LOVED this story and I cannot recommend it STRONGLY enough!!

Get your fucking ass out of your sit and get your hands on Edge and Whisper if you are willing to have your heart broken but with a smile of knowing you "felt" something when you delve into this one!

Thank you Emma James for this beautiful dark, addictive and heartbreaking creation.

Now.

Where is the next book??

I need it like I need my next breath.

..

.

Damn it! I knew I shouldn't have trusted my mind when I thought Whisper was finally hugged with freedom.

Now I'll just brew in my own frustration and only ever wonder how the story will continue..

Again. WORTH. IT!!

**I received an ARC of Wrenched**
I am going to start my review by saying GET.THIS.BOOK.NOW. Pre-order or one-click, whatever you have to do to get this book on your reading device ASAP.

Wrenched is a complex, dark tale, written from multiple POV. This is a writing style Ms James seems to have mastered. I enjoyed the depth of story created by being able to get different perspectives.

Edge and Whisper are our leads.Their names are indicative of their nature. Edge is a bad arse MC enforcer. He is rough, likes to fuck and would lay down his life for his "brothers". As we learn more about him we start to see that Edge is more than brawn. Whisper is quiet, unassuming and beautiful. Her early life has sheltered her from the " big world" but at the same time exposed her to much more than most her age. When the two come together no one could have guessed the events that follow.

Emma James has weaved a complex story with numerous characters whom I am dying to find out more about. I am still reeling from finishing this first installment. Twists that I didn't see coming have me wondering what mind fuckery will be created in Warped, book 2, due out later in the year.

This book and which likely will be the whole series is my first ever reads by Emma James. So far she has not disappointed and to be engrossed in this series says otherwise.

So, not realising the extent of how this story was going to turn out I’m rating this 31/2 stars based on my innermost eewwww and disgusted in a way I didn’t want to continue with this story...... but I am and I’m just waiting for the epic ending.

Wrenched was my first Emma James book and I have to say, I really enjoyed this dark read. A bit of a captive story mixed in with a MC theme. With various POV shifts as we get to know all the players, I was fully enthralled as the story progressed.

Whisper has lived her entire life in captivity. Kept hidden away until now. It’s her time to escape, but she has no experience in life outside of that house, those rooms. When she finds Miss Catherine, she is introduced to the first people that she will have to learn to trust but when she decides it’s time to own her own fate, she might stumble into the arms of man who is out for blood.

I am not going to talk too much about Edge and his role in this, as it gives away too many things that are perfect little surprises for the reader. I can say that he was dark and dangerous. That first sex scene was off the charts hot. I loved that the kink was watching. I loved that although he did participate in the sex, the description of him just watching was just as hot, if not hotter.

If you enjoy a twisted/dark romance this is a great book to pick up. Not too much is given away in this first book and it left me wanting to know more – wanting all the answers to the questions. Nothing is as it seems and there are just so many pieces to this puzzle that remain unknown. I will be patiently waiting for the second book in this series and have a feeling that I’ll be checking out her other books while I wait.

Disturbing , dark, daunting - yet intriguing.

Why - you'll need to read to find out !!

Holy hotness I'm unsure where to start ..

Wrenched will take you on a roller coaster ride , you'll be covering your eyes not wanting to read on yet opening your fingers to peer to find out more .

The darkness whisper suffers will have your breathe baited , your heart racing and even anger gurgling from inside ..

Yet at that moment you feel a moment of freedom ...

How can an open door , bring so much light from within the darkness ??

This story is told from multiple pov which gives this story much depth and definition .

It shows us past and present
And insight into Whispers very sheltered life . The thoughts of the characters and it flows easily with the story line.

The story is paced well, keeping the reader eager by giving us dribs and drabs along the way. Feeding us little crumbs, so to speak and then leaving us with a cliffhanger that will not only invoke WTF but eager for more.

I really enjoyed this book and the way it was told. This author is on my instant to always read and buy.

It was certainly hot, intense, full of suspense, real, harsh, but still yet wonderfully delivered .

I enjoyed every aspect of the storyline, the mystery within the mystery and the light within the darkness.

Eagerly look forward to book 2 !

Captivating, edgy, but disturbingly brilliant :D

If you don't like dark, twisted and violent then this read is not for you .. Be warned .

Emma's has taken on a dark romance and has blown me away with this story. Her characters had me reeled in, the story is full of suspense and has you guessing what's happening next.
Whisper has you wanting to fight for the injustice of all who don't have their free will.
Whisper “The wood couldn’t stop what was being done to it, but nevertheless a shape was
formed, which was pleasing to the whittler”

Miss Catherine is that old lady that you just can't help love, and want to have in your life. Boxer he is one that intrigues me, I need to know more about him. Lincoln is a sweetheart, the one you can rely on. Edge now he is the one that will have you wondering the most, he is this tough, rough and ready to throw down guy when needed. But underneath that hard exterior is a little boy who's past is about to shake his life up. And Whisper is going to be a part of his past and future. Emma James had me turning the pages wanting more with each chapter, she has given the reader the most of each character and I feel like I was there with them. I can't wait for the next book Warped!

I think Emma James knew that this was a book that was going to hang the reader out to dry and in some respects I got the feeling that in the first chapter she was almost reticent to let everything she had cooped up inside her out.
But once she let her inhibitions go so to speak, this book positively took off.
This is not for those of a nervous disposition – sorry, No I lie, Yes it is – you should read it regardless – I challenge you to challenge yourself!
So what is it all about?
Well told from multiple points of view, this is the story of Whisper a somewhat shy but beautiful woman who has struggled through life and is now finally working with what she has and making her way in the world and Edge, the complete opposite, or so he would like the world to think. Because this gorgeous man has his role as a mean S.O.B down to a fine art but what the world saw and judged him on was not all his sexy alpha ass had to offer, he kept his heart safely tucked away, knowing that keeping it as far away from human contact as possible was the only way he could survive the life that he lived every day.
I was captivated by both Whisper and Edge, the lives they had experienced, the pain that they have both been through in the past was astonishing, I was aghast with the fact that they were both still strong enough to put one foot in front of the other each morning.
But what happens when these two complex characters come into contact with each other, because I couldn’t help but wonder if their paths were predestined to cross.
I was left wondering what the heck was coming next.
There was a wealth of additional characters strewn throughout the book, some of them kept my heart happy, other – well I was ready to rip their throats out!! Emma James you brought out the demon in me!
The story is darker than I had originally anticipated from this author but I have to say that she brought a side of her character to the page that I hadn’t anticipated after reading her previous works but it was something very special – this book is completely encapsulating.

I love Emma James's Men of Ocean Beach series and was so excited when I saw she was doing something different, something a little out of the comfort zone. So of course, I jumped at the chance to review, and Wrenched blew me away, any doubt in my mind...gone.

Emma James will sweep you away in this heart-wrenchingly dark story. A story about a young girl having to dig deep to survive, but also realizing that she doesn't have to do all this alone.

There's surprises around every corner, by the end you're left wanting NO needing more! I love how Emma doesn't rush her stories, they slowly (not too slowly) progress and we get a more in-depth feel for the characters and their world.

I truly loved this story, and I recommend it to anyone that loves their stories dark and a little wicked. It's bound to get the heart racing, in more ways than one. ^_^

Wow!!!! Great book.... With a twisted line up on characters and story. Edge and Whisper have began their journey together. The dark story line has great signs of hope. I'm not thrilled I have to wait for fall to finish their story. But I know it will be worth the wait.

**JOSIE'S REVIEW**

Wrenched is an intricate dark novel that is written in multiple POV’s. Normally I am not a fan of multiple POV’s but for this particular story it worked. There wasn’t a time where I felt confused by what was going on in this story. I was lost in the depth and darkness of this story. Getting to know all the key players feelings and roles within the story only intensified my enjoyment. The title of this novel is just so fitting.

We meet Edge at the very beginning of this story. He is the enforcer of the Soulless Bastards MC. Edge is a killer and he is good at it. He is badass and he lives a hard life. He makes no excuses for it. When we are first introduced to him I really did not care for his character. I didn’t understand his role in the story until midway through. We also meet Whisper. She lives up to her chosen name. She is submissive, soft, unassertive and gorgeous. Whisper has not lived a loving life. She’s been sheltered from the outside world but her life was harsh, dark and debasing.

Being raised to be molded into the perfect submissive slave for Master William her world suddenly takes a drastic change. Whisper wakes up from one of her Master’s sick and depraved games only to find him murdered by an unknown person. This is the moment that Whisper has dreamed of for years, her escape to her freedom. I loved how the author reflects on Whisper time in captivity. It was so painful and heart wrenching but I understood why it was necessary to see what she went through. I really fell in love with her. I admired her drive and sheer determination to survive the situation she’s been having to live in for over 20 years.

It was hard to watch her move on and try to give up the habits that were beaten and forced in to her for so long. Although Whisper cannot forget her years in captivity she does grow into her skin and her new life. The physical and mental scars that will forever be engrained in her but I loved her determination she possessed being free.

Edge is dangerous and will kill anyone that crosses him. He does not care who he has to take down even if it is the innocent and naïve Whisper. Edge has no idea how dark and unwanted of a life she has led. Edge has one mission and goal in mind and that is take out the lovely Whisper and get his revenge. But life has a way of surprising people and Edge is not immune to life

Ms. James pieces together a very complexed, dark and gritty story where nothing was left out. I was completely consumed from the very first page to the very ending. Her writing left me at the edge of my seat, cringing, crying and fist-pumping at every page. The character development was amazing and on point. Each character had a major role in this story and I enjoyed getting to know every twisted moment. This is a dark story but one that is well worth every ounce of emotion I experienced. The details and the timing of events in this story fit perfectly and left no question as to why and where things came into play. I really can’t wait for the next part of this series to come out because this book was just so good.

** Provided on behalf of the author for an honest review **

Your alone.
You have no one.
No friends.
No parents.
No siblings.
No interaction with the outside world.
Your isolated.
Cooped up in his house, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
Except when the cleaning crew come in, then your locked up in an old, run down shed in the yard.
Your world has consisted of nothing else except for handcuffs, blindfolds, ropes, cameras, beatings.
He watches you all the time.
He’s trained you.
He watches your every move.
If a mistake is made, you will be punished.
You will forever be his, never to escape the hell that the four walls he hides you in.
Death seems such an easier option.
You don’t live, you simply exist.
Hope is only a dream.
It’s unattainable.

But is it?

One accident, one error, one mistake will change everything.
You will no longer be a prisoner.
You will no longer be trapped.
You will finally have the freedom you always dreamt of.

This is Whisper’s story.

A story about a monster who enslaved a girl at the smallest of ages that will finally be freed from hell.
A story about a girl who learns that not all people are animals, and you can learn to trust again.
A story about a girl who can find friends and value them as family even if they were found due to the horrific of circumstances.
A story about a girl willing to survive.

Wrenched is a MUST read.

We were captivated from the very first page. It’s dark, gritty, raw, confronting, heartbreaking. So full of emotion we found ourselves at times crying because we could simply feel the torment and the torture bleeding out of the pages, simply taking our breath away. We could feel Whispers struggles, her pain, her fear, her hopes, her dreams.

Emma James wrote with such detail and depth that you simply couldn't be anything other than drawn to every page turned. An absolutely captivating, hard core, highly emotional read that has so many twists that you will never see coming.

Wrenched is a MUST novel to be on everyone's TBR list.

A definite 5 star read.

Warped coming late 2015. That's what it said at the end of this book. But where IS the next book??? Daym... what a cliffhanger! I kinda knew that when I started the book, but I've read it anyway... and now I'm sorry because I really need to know what happends to Whisper, Edge, Boxer and Miss C.
Fan-f*cking-tastic story! Edge is a biker, but it's not a typical MC book. The book is written in multiple POV's, which I liked very much. A 5 star read for me, but actually I should deduct 1 star for the awful cliffhanger! Grrr...
The Erogenous Zone; BotM June 2016.
Eerste keer gelezen 16/17-06-2016.
;-) We'll see...

I got a free copy of Wrenched and it collected dust on my Kindle for a few weeks before I started reading. It’s the first book I’ve read from Emma James, I was really surprised how good it was. MC Romances tend to be all the same, and there weren’t many by now who captured me like this one. I love Emma’s writing style. It has that personal touch that makes it easy to think and feel what the characters think and feel.
She’s done a great job at describing Whisper’s horrible life that she had to endure for the last two decades. At some points, it was a little too much telling how insecure she felt because the same thing was written from different POVs which made the middle drag a little bit in my opinion, but the story took off again in a direction I hadn’t expected.
The storyline is something I haven’t read in another book yet which was quite refreshing. I hadn’t seen it coming that William’s lawyer would be the next villain in the story, and I loved that twist in events. Also, the sex scene on the bike was one hell of a read. I even read it twice, it was that good.
This book is very, very dark, something I tend to stay away from because there are a lot of authors who try to put the darkest and most sinister things in a book just to make it more interesting. I can imagine it’s hard to get acceptance from everyone. Emma did a great job here and made it quite realistic and believable. I haven’t bought a Book2 in a series for a long time, but I’ll definitely dive into Warped.
It’s not relevant for the story, but I also loved the interior design. The headline images were beautiful and fit each character.

Overall Rating :: 4 stars
Series :: Book one of the Hell's Bastard series.
POV :: Alternating.
Cliffhanger :: Yes.

This series sorta came out of left field for me. I didn't want something too sappy (I'm pregnant - just breathing makes me emotional right now), and I also enjoy a dark romance. And the additional plus? A motorcycle man! It's like the trifecta of romance perfection for me right now.

This is a lot deeper than I originally thought it would be. I should have figured it would be since this series is five books long, and its focus is one couple, but whatever. I was a little slow on the uptake. Regardless, there's a lot here. It's more than just a motorcycle romance. Actually, the motorcycle club aspect is really a secondary (or tertiary even) point of focus - so far, the fact that Edge is a motorcycle club enforcer means very little. Except that he has not so savory torture skills. When isn't that relevant to a romance story, am I right? It should also be noted, this book is a bit shorter than the traditional full-length novel. Well, short for me, I guess. I got through it in less a full day.

But it's all a pleasant surprise. The voice changes frequently - per chapter really, but each perspective seems so different and original, so it doesn't feel like a bunch of samesies coming from a different person. Can't wait to see how the rest of this story plays out.

This book is a dark read but I simply couldn't put this book down or recommend enough. I feel so lucky to have had the chance to receive this book as a ARC and review it.

This book is written in many different POVs which I know isn't everyone's cup of tea but I personally love.

The 2 main characters in this book are Whisper and Edge.

Edge is a MC enforcer who loves sex, would die for his brother's, very good at his job and overall one bad man.

Whisper is the complete opposite of Edge. After being snatched away as a baby she has lead a very sheltered life but at the same time seen things she should of never seen. All Whisper wants in life is to experience a normal life like she sees on TV. But this is easier said than done when she is kept as a slave with her master and mistress being the only people she has ever known in her life. Whisper is treated as a slave with her every move being caught on CCTV.

Whisper finally escapes and finds help with a elderly lady Miss Catherine and her friend Baxter. These two want to help her escape but in order for that to happen Whisper must learn to trust and realise that not everyone in life wants to hurt her.

What happens when Edge and Whispers paths cross??

To find out you will have to one click this book you will not b disappointed.

This book ends in a massive cliffhanger and I for one can't wait for book two cones out.

Gritty! Hot! Dark!
I knew ahead of time that Wrenched was going to include some dark themes, and gosh did Emma James deliver! The characters of Wrenched are well cooked; simmered to a nicely boiled down mix of dark, brave and vulnerable and served up for us to devour.
Whisper is an amazing female lead - you could expect given her background that she would be weak, beaten even, but I love her strength of character as the story develops.
Edge is as you'd expect from someone who is an MC enforcer (not to mention his kickass name) - a badass alpha with that hot protective instinct and a vibe of mystery about him.
Miss Catherine - what a hoot! I love her! I found myself reading in an accent through her passages and I love that I could get so into the story that this happened!
I really enjoyed reading Wrenched. I read it over 2 nights (out of necessity, because Life) but could hardly put it down once I picked it up, especially in the last half. Awake until crazy-O'Clock reading to finish! Hooked!!
I absolutely cannot wait until Warped is out to continue reading Edge & Whisper's story!
Get writing Emma!! ;)

Not sure

Messed up. It is scary to think there are such evil messed up people in this world.

I hope this isn’t one of those stories where the heroine has drama after drama and then just bounces back fine....

I will read the next

Take it back... I am out of this.

Great read with some dark themes. Taken as an infant, all Whisper knows is captivity and obeying her Master. When luck seems to finally all at her feet she takes control of her life and runs and meets people who show her what love is.

I liked getting to know this set of characters, we didn’t learn as much as I wanted about everyone which means I’m definitely picking up the next book. Right now! I love all the different POVs we get, it’s refreshing to see inside so many minds in one story.
