It’s finished!! The final installment of Abby McCarthy’s Wrecked series is complete and it is amazing! Hurt You is the cherry on top of an already great series! Truly, Hurt You takes all of the passion, loyalty, heartache and love from the other books in the series and multiplies them by 1000.
Hurt You is Jenny’s story. I gotta tell you, I was waiting for this one. As a cross-over character in the other books, she was the one that I felt had the most story to tell. Jenny is the kind of woman you want as a friend. She’s hilarious, honest, and fiercely loyal and knows how to have fun. She shoots from the hip, but it isn’t to hurt you. It’s out of her loyalty and love that she tells you like it is. Jenny is also incredibly passionate and sensual. When you combine all of those characteristics, you get a woman who will do anything to protect the ones she loves most, no matter the cost. Sometimes, this serves her well. Sometimes, it only complicates an already complicated situation, but it is ALWAYS because she will go to hell and back for her family and friends.
While Jenny’s story is a great one, having her meet her match makes it even better. Jules Federico is the perfect complement to Jenny. He’s fiercely loyal, deeply passionate and sexy as all get out. A former Marine and all around badass, Jules will also protect those he loves whatever the consequences. When he and Jenny finally stop dancing around each other (and oh what a dance it is), passion explodes and love blossoms. But all is not sunshine and roses for Jules and Jenny. Jenny has a secret, and it’s a doozy. Her secret keeps her living her life one step away from losing everyone she loves, including herself. Jules knows she’s hiding something, if he could just get her to open up to him and share…
Hurt You is, by far, my favorite book in the Wrecked series. Jenny and Jules made me feel and cry and laugh and get all swoony. I was afraid for them. I was angry for them. I felt helpless and lost with them. I needed them to beat the odds because I was so invested in their lives. There were times when my feelings were as raw as the characters. There were times when I had to stop reading because my tears were clouding my vision. Bottom line, I love this book.
It has been a true pleasure to witness Abby’s growth as an author. Her confidence in her story was clearly evident. Her love for Jenny and Jules undeniable. Abby hit the nail on the head with Hurt You. 5 stars for you, my friend. 5 stars.
