Phoenix universe

This story is an excellent addition to the Billionaire series in this fictional town populated by amazing women. Cordelia the aloof ceo of her corporation, planning a complete exit from her business after the death of her wife 8yrs previously, employs Wren as her assistant who must have complete discretion during this time. It's intriguing discovering the back story of each character which really draws you into their lives, beautifully written friends who care for them, a few from other series you will recognise but not essential although I enjoy visiting them again. Hard to describe how much I enjoyed this one, it was lovely seeing them both discovering themselves and falling in love, being honest with each other, there's 🔥 scenes, sad and amusing moments, a must read for those who enjoy intelligent writing and great plot lines.

Cordelia is CEO of Hale Capital, which she founded about thirty years before. However, since the death of her wife eight years previously, Cordelia has been checking out mentally more and more. That has never impacted her ability to run the company, but it has alienated most of her friends and pushed their daughter Remy away a little. Now she is planning her escape from the company, quietly without fuss.
Wren has been a personal assistant for several powerful women, but since looking after her ill grandmother for a year and then her death three months previously, she doesn’t know what to do with herself. So she applies as Cordelia Hale’s personal assistant.
This is a steamy story, slow burn, with a lot of intense thoughts, where lots of the interaction between the women is by silence, by unsaid communication. It is well written, but I did feel it was too long for the content.

Good

I really enjoyed this book The Story itself between the two main characters. However the corporate stuff got a little bit tedious and boring for me. All in all it's well worth the read

great character study

Wren’s issue of being the eternal helpmate resonated with me. Always the carer, never the cared for. Love the corporate issues on many of these books. Actually learned a lot about business.
