Polar opposites who were friends their entire childhood. Polar opposites that agreed to get married if no one else was there. Polar opposites who are for one hell of a ride.
Avery Conrad always had a plan for her life. She knew what she wanted and where she was going. Everything had balance and order in her life. Nothing ever needed to be spontaneous. Everything was planned down to the letter and she liked it that way.
Rhett Daniels always lived life with reckless abandonment and did whatever he pleased. He did everything fast and carelessly. He didn't care what the consequences were, but now the consequences are catching up to him and he has no choice but to rely on the one person that was always there for him.
This is a standalone novel that does not end in a cliff hanger. Reader should be 18+ due to explicit content.
The blurb on goodreads caught my interest in this book and thought I might like this one.
Avery and Rhett had been best friends since they were kids. As they were preparing for college, they made a promise to be in touch with each other even after college. They even made a pact that on their 30th birthday if they're both still not married, they will marry each other. Things didn't turn out as what they promised, their communication eventually stopped. 10 years later, both successful in their careers, their paths crossed again when Rhett was in trouble of being sued of sexual harassment........
Anyone could easily relate with the characters whether you're a teenager who's excited be on your own to make your own rules, in a relationship with someone who loves you but you're still unhappy, a workaholic who's work is more important than love life and friendships, a boss who could hardly resist his sexy secretaries, a divorced wife who still couldn't move on with your ex husband, or a product of divorced parents who still couldn't accept your step mom/ step dad.
I love the characters and the unexpected situations in the story. I found myself smiling most of the time while reading this book. The plot and the characters were interesting even the minor characters like Rhett's father. I wish there was a bit more about him and his new inspiration. I really thought it was Avery's mom he was talking about who made him change for the better. I really thought they might both end up together since they're both divorced. I was left almost breathless in the last few pages in this book with the scene between the lunatic woman and Avery.
I found some typo errors and I still don't get what's with the “I was 30 years old when I died. I was 30 years old when she died.” in the blurb on goodreads, but other than that I really enjoyed this book.
This is an entertaining book with sexy scenes. A worth checking out read.
