The man everybody wants. The woman he can't resist. The dom who masters both.
Women can’t keep their hands off billionaire Damien Call. The mysterious mogul has it fast cars, killer looks, and a brain that just might be his best asset.
Mia Beck loves her job at a PI firm. Her coworker Jake stars in most of her daydreams, so seeing him everyday is no hardship.
Jake hasn’t believed in human goodness since he worked black ops for the CIA. Romancing innocent Mia is unthinkable, no matter how enticingly submissive she seems to be. Then a case of corporate espionage forces them to pose as a dom/sub duo, to catch the eye of accused wrongdoer Damien. No fantasy is off limits for this voyeur—until the attraction the pair exerts lures him to go hands on . . .
I'm a USA Today bestselling author who LOVES the hot stuff, both to read and to write. My favorite obsessions are all things coffee, almost everything on HGTV, and dreaming up new stories.
Okay this was the second time I've read a book by this author, and damnit I was so proud of her. I don't know what happen to the first book of this series but the grammar and spelling errors was much better this time around. Even though I still caught a few, it still didn't take away from the book.. So good job Emma Holly...
I really did enjoy this read, especially the 2 hero's and the heroine.. With the way their relationship started out I didn't think they were going to make it but then the the story took a turn and I really thought they weren't going to make it... Oh but how LOVE made a triumphant come back and makes it all better.
I'm so please with this book I'm set off to read the second part of this story which will be book 3...
For a little of my special sauce for this book; if I could describe this book with a song it would be:
Holy smoking bedsheets! Ms. Holly can always be trusted for a steamy erotic romance when she writes a ménage. In this latest ménage, the reader is treated to an exhibitionist and voyeur's delight. Mia Beck and her co-worker Jake are going undercover to spy on Damien Call. Why? Because he's being accused of corporate espionage. To capture Damien's attention and get close to him, they audition through a little sex show.
For those who are tired of billionaire stories, this is one not to be missed. Sure, having money at a young age, being super smart and looking like Adonis is a fantasy. It's a fantasy that Ms. Holly makes a reader wish it would come true. The characters in this story come alive. Mia is adorable. It's easy to see why men fall for her. Her innocence and straightforward manner is alluring. Jake is a sexy and dangerous man. The fact that he is heteroflexible and good with bondage and dominance just makes a submissive swoon. Damien is the enigma. What is his game? Why is he the way he is?
The BDSM in here is fabulous. Ms. Holly does a fantastic job of showing the allure of BDSM. The scenes are designed to drive a voyeur into ecstasy. The deferred gratification is especially appealing since it's something I practice. The roleplaying part is very well done. It also shows how someone in the lifestyle can take a simple concept and make it erotic. Jake saw Mia's romance novels. He came up with a way to roleplay and incorporate Damien in an absolutely smoking hawt scene. The best part of that scene? No need for fancy equipment; it's all mind power. Jake brings Damien and Mia into the erotic scene by appealing to their fantasies. He turns them on with just a few words and setting the right mood. This is truly inspiring. Ms. Holly can make a panty moisten in seconds.
The plot of the story is surprisingly strong. It's not neglected nor fluffed up as window dressing for the delicious BDSM. It's a nice balance which gives the story more depth. There is one little thread left hanging which I wish would be tidied up. I'm guessing it won't be because the books in this series seems to be standalones with a theme instead of a continuation of characters. Still, my hope is that Damien's family situation is resolved and I wish for vengeance. Damien is the one I felt most sorry for in this story. He really is poor little rich boy.
This book is a completely enjoyable read as one would expect from Ms. Holly. She's an amazing storyteller and her forte is her kinky erotic novels. Recommended to ménage lovers who enjoy bondage and dominance.
This was a very good story. I liked Mia, Jake and Damien and enjoyed their story.
Mia is a receptionist at a P.I. firm. The firm is run by her late brother's lover who is like a brother to her. Mia has a special gift that makes her a bit more than a receptionist though, she has the ability to memorize and replicate anything she sees.
Jake is a P.I. and works at the same firm as Mia. He used to be a spy and did many things that have made him feel dark and unworthy of someone like Mia. That doesn't stop him from wanting her...even if he wont allow himself to go there. Jake is also a Dom that has a bondage kink but he keeps his relationships casual.
Damien is a billionaire, making his money through computer programing and designing fast cars and other revolutionary tech. Damien has had bad luck with women and it's propelled his sexual tastes more towards voyeurism.
Jake and Mia get involved in a case with Damien as the target. A competitor has accused him of stealing some sensitive and confidential designs and he hired their firm to investigate. They know that Damien has some unusual sexual tastes and decide to attempt to seduce him into becoming involved with Jake and Mia. Since Damien is known not to take part but only watch, that means that Jake and Mia won't be involved with him so much but will be involved with each other. Mia is willing to take on the job, especially since it gives her the chance to explore things with Jake...something she's been fantasizing about since they started working together. Jake agrees to the job but it determined to keep his feelings in check because he believes he's not good for Mia long-term.
Mia is pretty innocent and Jake knows that it'll be a lure for Damien. They manage to catch his eye and things begin. Mia and Jake are familiar with and trust each other so they work well as a couple, their chemistry (that has been ignored up to now) showing strongly once they start exploring things between them. Damien is drawn to them both and finds himself interested in being with Mia and Jake more than he has to anyone in the past. As they start exploring things, all 3 of them start feeling more than expected. This brings some uncomfortable issues for Mia and Jake considering the fact that they're there on a job. Especially since the more they get to know Damien, the less they believe the accusations against him. Things between the 3 go well but of course, eventually the truth comes out and there's some drama and pain when it does. There's also some issues with a bad guy that threatens Mia but that works out well in the end. After dealing with some hurt feelings and such, the trio is able to reunite and the story ends with a very nice start to a HEA.
This was a very enjoyable story. I liked all 3 of the characters and enjoyed seeing them get together. I have to admit that the fact that Jake and Mia were doing something that I knew would cause issues for the trio tended to worry me but I liked the way things were dealt with. The main complaint I have is that there wasn't more time given to the story while the trio was happily back together...I would have liked to see a bit more of how they settled in together. Overall, this was a pretty good story with characters I really liked so I'd recommend it. :D
Second in The Billionaires erotica romance series and revolving around Mia Beck, Jake Reed, and Damien Call.
My Take This is a fun take on the shy secretary with big eyes interested in the big bad wolf at the office. Then a case comes down which requires both get satisfaction. Their target is interesting as well with his own particular requirements.
It's the sex that's very prominent, but I do enjoy how well Holly creates a story around it. It's a seduction in several ways as Jake and Mia worm their way into Damien's life while Ms. DeWinter has her own plans. Some role-playing *fans herself*, control switching back and forth, Jake being attracted to their target as well as to the Mia he had sworn to keep his hands off… Yes, it is a series of tropes, but the sex is great, ahem, lol.
Damien's apartment sounds amazing with that 360-degree view.
It isn't one of Holly's best — the writing is a bit too Grade-B for that, but it's still a good cozy story with some very erotic scenes.
The Story Women can't keep their hands off billionaire Damien Call. The mysterious mogul has it all: fast cars, killer looks, and a brain that just might be his best asset.
Mia Beck loves her job at Discreet. Her coworker Jake stars in most of her daydreams, so seeing him everyday is no hardship.
Jake hasn't believed in human goodness since he worked black ops for the CIA, but romancing innocent Mia is unthinkable, no matter how enticingly submissive she seems to be.
Then a case of corporate espionage forces them to pose as a Dom/sub duo, to catch the eye of accused wrongdoer Damien. No fantasy is off limits for this voyeur — until the attraction the pair exerts lures him to go hands on…
The Characters Mia Beck is the office secretary for Curtis and his company. Part of Curtis' reason for hiring her was her brother Mike, the love of his life, and another is her particular gift for remembering anything she sees.
Jake "Mr. R." Reed, former CIA with black ops experience, is the second private investigator at Discreet with Dom preferences in a bi-body. Sawyer Hayes is one of Jake's buddies from The Farm. Nowadays, he runs a security firm.
The gay Curtis Ewing's company is Discreet Investigations, and he is their boss; he'd been Mike's lover before Mike died.
Damien Call is the CEO for WorldWide which builds anything that goes supersonic: jets, cars, yachts, rockets, and more. Frederica DeWinter is his married secretary. José works security, but not for long. Roderick Call is Damien's much despised father. Janine is the woman his father married.
Diogenes is a very exclusive sex club. Regina is a bellhop at Diogenes. To get in, a wannabe has to "audition" at Audition. Hillary Sweets runs a secondhand clothing shop in Brooklyn Heights with a sideline in fetish wear. Gabriel is a waiter at Audition who is surprised to see Jake. Management runs Audition.
Genbolt Industries is… …a multinational corporation with problems. Sam Raeburn is the founder and CEO. Zoe Raeburn is his daughter, and they are not on good terms. Kozlov is one of Rayburn's experts.
Greta Harris is an official with the Welles Foundation. The Cover and Title The cover is black in the background and Mia's lace dress, white in the dress' lining and the slightly transparent title that dominates the cover, and peaches in the skin on display as well as shading the author's name and the series information. The "icing" on top is the red heart-shaped "berry" in the center.
The title is a bit unfair since it leaves Jake completely out of the picture, even if it is a fun take-off on the phrase Beck & Call, for surely Mia is up for complete subservience. Hmmm, well, it isn't just Mia…
What can I say? Well… obviously a lot or I am in trouble as a reviewer eh?
Kidding!
I meant, what can I say besides another outstanding story!
I know Emma Holly for a long time. I started with her MF stories and happily jumped with her menages. And there is a reason why she is USA TODAY BESTSELLER.
A lot of pink here too except the cover. I can hardly see the image behind the words and as far as I am concerned I thought it was a poor choice. It was not ugly, but just OK for me.
So lets talk about the story.
I love love love LOVE the characters. I fell in love hard with them. Both men had very different personalities (happy dancing with my arms doing victory arms in the air). The heroine, Mia, was perfect, her bluntness was totally funny. I want a Jake in my life and Damien was endearing. Even right at this minute, I am still smiling about them. Those are the characters that I will remember for a long time.
The romance was credible. All characters had their issues and fought the 3 letters until it was no longer possible. I totally enjoyed that. It felt real. Each had their scars and insecurities but it was never overwhelming. It just happened that the heroine was the glue but did not do anything special besides being herself.
Truth is this story is not BDSM. It has elements and one sex scene but the relationship was definitely top/bottom. I cannot really say it was only in the bedroom. Although Jake was called several time Master, I did not feel he really was one. He was definitely top dog but never forceful. In fact, I think he is way more realistic than any of the “master” I have ever read in other romances. A master does not need a title. It is all about the attitude and respect he project and receive. In this story, Jake was just himself but never an ass. He never forced anyone, he was just taking charge. I love that Jake was simple, yet complicated, with his bisexuality. He never questioned but he was not looking for a guy. He just accepted the fact that he fell for a guy and sex was part of the package. I loved that.
Another thing I loved and totally unexpected because very rare. I laughed many times. I am not sure why I am making such a big deal about humor each time I find some in a romance. But this is something that strikes me and I fell harder for the characters. It is difficult to add humor, mind you. But I think humor cannot be forced. It is for me the personal and intimate touch of the author there. What you read is probably what you get in real life. That, for me is definitely the cherry on top of the cake!
Damien was neither gay nor bisexual. Here again, it was just natural. It was all about the people involved. From voyeur to participant was a natural step. And here again, I felt it was just the kind of relationship I can live in real life. In fact, that is exactly the kind of relationship should be with people who have open mind and accepting a third in their life. Every threesome or polyamory or menage is different. We are all looking for what feels good and natural to us. There is no rules. It all depends of the personalities involved.
I read this story, the relationship, the romance, the sex and was hooked from beginning to end. In the middle of the story, I was already upset to see the end of it. At almost the end of it, I was very upset to not be able to read it again as if I never read it to be able to enjoy it again and again.
I. love. this. menage.
There is not other way to say it I guess. I truly loved it. Definitely one of those that I will re-read in a while. The kind of book that I call “confort book” when I am in a middle of so-so menages and upset to do not find any that truly captivates me. Yes. This book will definitely join a dozen on top of my top list.
Thank you, Mrs Holly for asking me to review your story. I am honored you did. I loved book #1, Billionnaire Bad Boys Club, but not as much as this one. I think this one was very special.
Sadly, I waited a long time to read book #2 of this Billionnnaires series, almost one year and an half. But it is definitely worth it!
Emma Holly certainly lives up to my expectations. Beck and Call is hotter than hell and not a read I was willing to put aside even when life interrupted. I don’t think it matters what this author pens it always has a way of drawing me into the story and her characters always capture my emotions and take me for a roller coaster ride. That’s not to say that the characters are angst ridden or anything of the sort but rather that they are well developed and multi-layered. You can’t help loving them foibles and all. Mia, Jake and Damien all have their quirks but each of them pulls you in and has you wanting to see them make their blossoming relationship work.
Mia is the cement that bonds the ménage. The receptionist for a PI firm, Mia has been fantasizing about her co-worker Jake for years. When her deceased brother’s lover, Curtis who also happens to be her boss suggests she would be the perfect honey trap in a new case of corporate espionage she’s admittedly reluctant. That is until she’s paired with Jake to intrigue the voyeuristic needs of their target, billionaire Damien Call. As Curtis puts it, “Because you radiate sexual interest and at the same give the impression you’ve never been satisfied. If a man ever devoted himself to you, ever truly paid attention to your needs, you’d explode with excitement.” Combine that interest with the innocence she exudes and you definitely have what it takes to intrigue Damien Call. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that he’s had his eyes on Jake for some time now. Shocking as their suggestion might be, finding out that both Curtis and Jake are members of an elite sex club, one that Damien also attends is the icing on the cake.
Jake is an ex CIA black ops operative. He’s seen enough violence and intrigue to last a lifetime and knows he’s too jaded for innocent, submissive Mia. However, that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t like to take a bite of that. When their plan is hatched he knows he’s not willing to let anyone else carry it out. No one else will care for her like he will and no one else will protect her like he can. The idea is to draw Damien in close enough to discover if he’s has been stealing corporate secrets that could impact the country at high levels of the government. Their secret weapon is Mia and not for her curvy sexual appeal but rather for the uncanny ability she has to recall anything she’s seen. His job is to make sure she stays safe doing it. His position as the renowned Master R at the club provides them with the perfect in.
Damien Call has had his share of stalker ex-girlfriends even from an early age before success and money became a factor. You might say it’s colored his world where women and love are concerned. He’s learned to watch and savor the denial of instant gratification. He’s icy in his business dealings and a brilliant engineer. He’s also very controlling and likes to call the shots. So, imagine what happens when two very dominant men struggle with just who is in charge. Talk about hot! When these two went at it, I swear my eReader fairly sizzled. Put Mia between them and I’m surprised my reader didn’t explode. But what happens when reality catches up with them all? How do you deal with betrayal? How do you deal with stalker employees, ex-girlfriends and corporate enemies?
Mia, Jake and Damien prove they are up for the challenges. Beck and Call is an awesome read that exemplifies Ms. Holly’s ability to bring the heat. If you’re into a bit of suspense and espionage mixed with your kink and heat then look no further, Beck and Call fits the bill. I would highly recommend it.
In BECK & CALL, Emma Holly wastes no time tossing you into a 40's style milieu reminiscent of a Bogey movie. Steady rain and low hanging fog surround the worn brick buildings along the Brooklyn riverfront where Discreet Investigations is located. It's the perfect kind of day for Mia Beck to indulge in her fantasy of being a PI's secretary and the dame he's madly in love with. Reality is a bit different as it's the 21st century and she is the lowly assistant in a three man office. She's known her boss, Curtis, since the age of ten when he became her brother Mike's boyfriend. It's been five years since Mike's death, but Curtis still treats Mia like a younger sister.
Jake Reed, Discreet's third member, is another story. Former CIA, he's tall, dark, and dangerous. He's sexier than any man Mia has ever encountered and, even though he's most likely 15 years her senior, she wants a piece of him. Best of all, he feeds into her fantasy with his "Hey, beautiful" and "Thanks, doll" endearments. But that's as far as Jake ventures even though he himself has harbored a few fantasies about the beautiful, curvy Mia.
Today is Mia's lucky day. Curtis needs her and her eidetic memory to work a big time case of corporate espionage. As Jake's partner! Oh yeah, she's up for that. Jake's not so sure 22 year old Mia is qualified. But when Curtis announces that Jake and Mia must play the role of a Dom/sub couple to attract the attention of billionaire Damien Call, Jake realizes Mia is indeed perfect. Her doe-eyed innocence, sensuous body, and natural submissiveness will surely appeal to Call and his reputation as a voyeur at an exclusive BDSM club. And the Dom in Jake is itching to have Mia under his control even if it's merely to lure in their target.
The fiery chemistry between Mia and Jake immediately captivates Damien. The intimacy is deep and darkly erotic as the voyeur becomes one of the players. This is now much more than a job for Mia and Jake. The depth of emotion and sex between all three is intense and absolutely electric. Mia blossoms under Jake's dominance and Damien's desire. The power exchange between Jake and Damien is like watching two gladiators clash. It's so unbelievably hot. This is one of the best M/M/F power exchange stories I've read in a long time. Add in the suspense and action of the espionage story line in BECK & CALL and you have a fantastically sexy read that you won't want to end.
I hang my head in shame that this is my first book by Emma Holly. Her voice is captivating, her characters well developed. She knows her BDSM and her erotic scenes caused quite a few instances of heart palpitations and panty melting during my reading of this book.
Whew, Emma Holly can still write hot sex scenes. I give her props for writing a more complex story, with a real mystery to solve. The main characters had depth and were able to explore outside their comfort zones. Despite the billionaire with a sex club setting, the story was quite original.
As one of the first erotic romance authors I ever read, Emma Holly quickly solidified her place in my favorite authors folder with her crazy hot sex scenes and fab writing style.
Lowly PI secretary Mia Beck is stunned when her boss asks her to take the lead on an insanely important case. Well, more accurately, he's asked her to play the honeytrap role to trap Damien Call, the CEO billionaire of Worldwide, who is accused of stealing another company's designs. Mia is thrilled to be working with the sexy PI Jake Reed, who is to take her to an exclusive BDSM club where she'll try to entice the elusive Damien, as the man REALLY likes to watch! Entice she does, and Damien takes notice of Mia and Jake's on-stage performance, quickly making the pair an offer they can't refuse. The heat quickly escalates between the three of them, but can Jake and Mia make Damien let go of his hard-earned control?
BECK AND CALL is the 2nd book in the Billionaires Series by the always sexy Emma Holly, and DAMN does she deliver! I'm a huge fan of Ms. Holly's writing, having devoured her non-fantasy books like a kid in a candy store. I can say with certainty that she is one of the few authors that has the ability to make a jaded eroticaholic like me squirm, her sex scenes are really just that good. I loved the feel of BECK AND CALL, it had an almost film noir feel about it with the sexy Private Dicks and men in suits. Mia, while unaccustomed to men's advances and clueless to her own attractiveness, makes a damn good PI with the way her photographic memory works.
And seriously, how hot were Jake and Damien?!? If you've read any of my reviews, you know I have an unabashed obsession with MMF storylines, and the guy-on-guy action in BECK AND CALL was sooooooo hot. The men gelled so well, and the power exchanges between all three of them were the icing on the uber erotic cake. The sex...dear Xenu the sex. When Damien STOPS watching and allows himself to be seduced by Jake and Mia? Ho-LEE shit, that's good stuff! I hope Ms. Holly gives us a new Billionaire book soon!
SO CLOSE TO 5 STARS!! I only hold back for unanswered questioned!! Everything else was absolutely AMAZING!! This book was not the first I read from this author, but I have totally gone CRAZY over the author's writing style. I just love it when you get drawn in, an the anticipation between the characters is off the charts!! Mia Beck such a complex character that, I felt the author give so much life to her.. The shyness, always putting people first, and never feels she is truly worthy. But, she never know how others view her, and their view is so very different. Jake Reed is a strong dominant man that worked many yrs. in govt. and now is settled to work as a PI for Discreet, along side owner Curtis and secretary Mia. Thou, working with Mia this long he's been able to keep Mia at arms-length, but this job will take his strong-will to keep focused on the job. Damien Call is wealthy, but he keeps everyone at arms length, trust isn't or letting anyone in, is something he doesn't do ever. Damien loves to watch couples interact in scenes, no one know exactly where his kinks lye's. So the fun begins!! I adore the power dominates between the 3, all I'll say is"IT IS SO WORTH THE READ"!! The main characters are GREAT, love how Emma Holly brought them to life, and secondary characters were wonderful as well. I wasn't sure at the PI work romance story line, read others before, but from them one I've tried Beck & Call are at the top in my opinion. This story has a GREAT plot, AMAZING characters, WONDERFUL story and over all a Fun Entertaining book. Does have erotica role-playing and for readers 18 and older!! I Highly Recommend this to all that is looking for something more than the usual romance book, for someone that would like a erotica romance with action-mystery that will keep you turning each page(m/m/f)!!
2.5 stars. This book was not very good, IMO. The story was pretty wild, like something out of a cheesy movie. It was interesting though rather silly. The characters, however, fell flat to me and had very little depth. They were charicatures of their types. This was a menage romance between Mia, Damien and Jake. I won't go into full detail about the plot, just know that Mia Beck and Jake are private detectives that pretend they want to perform sexually for Damien Call, a billionaire bi-curious voyeur business man so that they can spy on him for a client to see if he stole weapons plans from a competitor. Their voyeurism act for him turns into an ongoing threesome between them all. There is lots of over the top drama, blah blah blah. Sorry, this book was just cheesy. This was my first book by Emma Holly and it will probably be my last.
mmf I have a new favorite Emma Holly book! Beck & Call is sweetly sensuous and sizzlingly erotic. This ménage is filled with twists and turns and smoking hot encounters. These three are amazing together. Of course starting a relationship under false pretenses is going to bite them but what they have to figure out is which is more important pride or love. If you liked Fairyville (my previous favorite) you are going to love Beck & Call!

I really enjoyed this book. I love how the writer writes the story. Mia,Jake and Damien were a believable couple in my eyes. I would have liked to see the settlement of the couple when they get back together after Damien finds out about their betrayal. No couple just get together that easy you know. It was sexy I mean I wanted to be in that menage lol. Seriously It was just too hot lol.
It was a bot too long for me but I didnt mind. The story got me engaged. I would have loved Jakes POV more and to be in his mind more.
4.5/5 One of the better menage stories I've read, this was a cross between Cherise Sinclair and Roni Loren. Very hot, and the characters didn't behave like toddlers as in no throwing temper tantrums in face of adversity. Give me more stories like that any day!

Initial thoughts upon reading the blurb: If you like bisexual billionaires and the bisexuals who love them, then Emma Holly’s latest, “Beck and Call,” is the book for you.
Normally I don’t like stories where the billionaire makes the heroine give the hero a handie in the billionaire’s office while he watches—OH, WHO AM I KIDDING YOU KNOW I LOVE THAT SHIT--but Holly knows how to bring it all together.
This is a MF, MM, MMF, and MFM storyline. Can I buy another vowel, please?
Couldn't put this book down. What a fantastic steamy story. Wouldn't you love to have an irresistible chemistry between not one but two power men. One very dominant and the other greek God like. They also find you irresistible and let you know it. The edge, the suspense is extraordinaire and that is why I truly enjoy reading Emma Holly from Billionaires to paranormal.
Great book, although I was not as emotionally invested as I was in the first in series. Mia, jake and Damien have no previous history like the first book. Still loved it!
This book pulled me in and didn't let me go. It's an interesting story with intriguing characters. It is also smoking hot. Grab Beck & Call and hang on!!
I must say I prefer the first one more, and maybe that put a lot of expectations on this one, something that is very common in series. Still Ms. Holly delivered. I like how she gives us some of the back story of her characters hinting us of their roles in the story, yet leaves us wanting to learn more about them. For me, trying to understand a bit more of what will make them act and react to the events developing. The concept of threesomes is not everyone's cup of tea, if you are not interested, don't read these books. But, if your interest is picked, go ahead, Ms. Holly know how to write them right. And yes, the sex is hot and steamy.
I liked this better than the first one. I think the chemistry between jake and Mia was off the charts hot and their rapport made it feel even more believable. Damien started as this very tough guy, but when he and Jake started having some more interaction, you could just see what was underneath and how it was going to be good when it all came out. Unfortunately, I think this was the part of the book that wasn't as well thought out as the rest. Plot wise, good, but the real focus here is the relationship between the three of them.
I was pleasantly surprised by how touching and emotional this book was. The action plot was secondary and did not distract the reader from the main romantic story line. I cared for all the characters and truly enjoyed this poignant story.
Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Vivacious Valkyrie - Marta: *Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review
I think it's fair to say that I'm a traditional romance reader who looks forward to happy endings with the possibility of the couple riding off into the sunset together with their happiness a forgone conclusion. So when I was asked if I wanted to read this book it was with great interest that I said yes but also a little trepidation. I've thoroughly enjoyed Ms Holly's Demon World Series with its mixture of steam and paranormal world building, but alas had avoided the authors more erotic work. Whilst I don't usually read an awful lot of ménage and tend to avoid M/M stories, the synopsis for this book piqued my interest and boy was it a rewarding read!
I found the idea of a voyeur being targeted to be a unique one amongst the various BDSM and ménage books touted by various authors. Mia is a natural submissive who has long held fantasies that star her coworker Jake, but a new assignment sees them taking their professional relationship much much further. The dreams Mia has had are nothing compared to the reality though, as Jake is an infamous Dom and their assignment means getting close to Damien Call a man suspected of stealing plans that could potentially damage the Pentagon.
Call has a weakness though and it involves watching and directing as others perform "scenes". Capturing his attention is only the start of things, though, as like some sacrificial iamb Mia has to put her trust in Jake and as he likes to be a hands on kind of guy she's about to learn first hand just what a Dom is really capable of!
This was a humdinger of a book that completely surprised me. To be blunt, so many erotic books are just filled with sex scenes that add little to the plot, but from the first scene at the club Ms Holly creates such tension that it's palpable. Never has a simple kiss evoked such a reaction. To say that Mia is playful would be an underestimate because that girl is finally getting all she dreamt of and a lot more besides. Add in the enigmatic Damien, who is overjoyed at being able to pull his new toy's strings and it's a captivating ride that leads the reader to discover just what makes these characters tick.
Yes, this is a sexy story, but it's an intelligent tale of espionage, although I confess I struggled a tad with Mia's ability . The passion these three characters experience drives the storyline and it had an interesting twist as Mia became more involved with the kink that the two dominant males enjoy. She is trusting and open but it's Jake who has closed himself off. As for Damien well that is one man running away from reality and it's impossible not to feel for him.
The journey these characters take was gripping and watching all three of them release control made for a fabulous love story. When I started, I wasn't sure that I could believe in the power of their sensual romance, but by the end the author had me convinced. Seeing them all learn to trust each other was totally captivating and together they really are stronger.
My first ménage by Ms Holly and what a fabulous baptism it was!
Mia and Jake work for a Private Investigator who has been hired by a company to investigate a rival company who they say stole blueprints from their company.
So Mia and Jake are tasked with getting close enough to Damien (the owner of the rival company) to verify these claims. Mia’s photographic memory enables her to know and memorize it at first sight.
But things between the three of them get complicated. Because their “in” is through a sex club Damien frequents. When they secure themselves as his latest voyeristic toys, they find themselves getting very close to him. And when feelings start to develop it complicates everything.
I enjoyed this one about as much as the first one in the series. They are in no way related, just to be clear. I found that kind of weird. As a series you’d think that the characters would overlap in some way, but they don’t in any way.
I thought the three-way-feelings were better developed in this one. In the first book (“The Billionaire Bad Boys Club”) the feelings between the guys seemed stronger and more genuine than for their woman. But in this one I felt all three of them developed feelings for each other pretty evenly and I liked that.
I did feel bad for Damien and the deceit aspect. But once that is out there I’m glad that they decide to move past it and keep trying. The suspense and side story about the espionage was pretty well done too. Intense enough but not overpowering the romance.
I loved the role playing they did a bit in the beginning, especially the historical romance scene that Jake put together for Mia. It was sweet that he did that with her in mind and sexy too. The whole scene had me giggling (in a good way).
I’m looking forward to reading the next book about these three because I did feel like their ending in this was more HFN and they need a little more page time to get to their HEA.
Overall it was a sexy story with a lot of heart. I am looking forward to seeing what happens with them next!
