I was given an ARC of this in return for an honest review.
A L Wood is a new author to me but her book "Bain"is one of those books that you pick up and know within the first few words that you are going to LOVE it and love it i certainly did!
Bain is one of those hot as hell, bad ass alpha males, with a softer side that you are instantly drawn too and Rumer is a strong independent woman that doesn't take any rubbish from anyone and you can tell that together, they are going to be electric!
I started this book and before i knew it, i had finished it. It was brilliantly written but there just wasn't enough and i can NOT wait for the next book
This was a very enjoyable read that I finished in one sitting. I could not put it down. It moved along at a great pace, has amazing characters that are so well written that you feel as though you know them personally and a story that will keep you interested from beginning end. This has to be read, no doubt about it.
OMG!!! This book left me wanting. I need to know what happens with Rumer and Bain. Both trying to fight the attraction. Both are broken and trying to protect themselves from their past. But the attraction is strong. I can't wait to see what happens
Disclaimer: This book is only for readers over the age of 18. There is mature language and sexual themes through out.
Bain is a widower with a young daughter. A talented fighter, he has won every match he has ever fought. Rumer is a young woman trying to rebuild her life. She is determined to prove her self in the ring. When the two meet at the gym there is an automatic attraction. Both know they do not need a relationship to make their lives even messier, but will they be able to fight their feelings like their opponents in the ring? Or will they give in and let their guards down? Find out now!
Bain is a beautifully crafted short story. In less then 70 pages A.L. Wood had me wanting more! The characters are relatable and given their back stories, the fight against their feelings is believable. An easy quick read this book gets a solid four out five stars. I cannot wait to find out how their story continues. Keep an eye out for a review from this reader on the sequel, Rumer, in the near future!
This is a good start to a series, just wish we would have been given just a little bit more to reel the reader in.
Bain is a MMA fighter. Having dealt with loss already in his life, he's motivated in his career by what he has left, his daughter Samantha. Rumer has been beat down and told she'll never make her dreams come true. She's guarded and lives her life by rules, not trusting easily and letting anyone get close to her. When Rumer gets recruited to train at the same gym as Bain, by gym owner and best friend to Bain, Lawson, the two start off on shaky ground. An immediate attraction is felt by each party, but they both realize acting on it would be a bad deal.
I think this is a solid start. I'm interested to find out more about these characters and what fate has in store for them. This is on the short said, maybe more novella length, and although the reader is warned there is a cliffy I found the place where the book left off to be sort of an odd choice. Would definitely read more!
Bain by A L Wood is a short novella telling the story of Bain. He is a MMA fighter who experiences an incident that has changed his life forever. An emotional cripple fighting is his life. Now as his career is taking off an injury has him sidelined. Rumer is a young lady that has been beat down by life. She lives a closed life and refuses to let anyone into her world. Her rules keep her safe from being hurt or disappointed. One day while jogging she is given an opportunity to fulfill a dream of being a MMA. Cautious as she is about accepting help she decides to go to the gym. Since Bain is injured and can’t fight he is to train Rumer. Sparks fly but can 2 damaged people find love. Novellas are not my thing but this book was cute and I liked the characters. I give this story 4 stars. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
My Library Notes: Bain (Undefeated Streak #1) by A.L. Wood Kindle Edition, First Edition, 206 pages Published April 5th 2015 (first published March 31st 2015) ASIN: B00VQFE18U [ kindle doc ]
Raised in an environment that exuded love, Bain couldn't understand why he felt so empty inside. He had it all - a financially stable, successful career and the overwhelming support of his loved ones.
Rumer wasn't in need of saving. She didn't need his help. She had gotten this far on her own... why accept a strangers obvious charity?
Bain wasn't trying to save her, nor was he donating his time freely. Has Bain finally found his match in the ring of life?
Bain by A.L. Wood *I was sent this book from the author for an honest review*
You know it was a good read when you stay up in the wee hours of the night just to finish. I am very fortunate to have the sequel so I don't have to wait long with the clify!
I want to say that this was an enjoyable read. I loved reading about Bain and his meeting Rumer. They both have different past lives that have shaped them into intriguing people. Bain has had some serious heartbreaks in his life and Rumer has been let down too many times to count. Bain has something to hold onto, but will Rumer finally find the person that can break her walls down? And will she let him in when it happens?
Can't wait to continue the story!

I started this book and before i knew it, i had finished it. It was brilliantly written but there just wasn't enough and i can NOT wait for the next book.
Bain is a short but intense story that ends on a huge cliff hanger.
Bain has suffered a massive loss and with the help of his friends, Jade and Lawson, he finds a way to carry on.
I'm not entirely sure what Rumer's full story is just yet, but I'm sure we will find out in the next book. Anyway, Rumer has a very singular view of the world. There is only black and white, no shades of grey so to speak.
These two are thrown together in a gym and while both deny their attraction, things get out of control and you know what? Thats where the book ends! Total number right?! I know. I can't wait to see what happens between these two in the next book.
Bain has experienced a loss...and doesn't think he'll ever have "those" feeling again. The Rumor comes into his life and he can't stop himself. Rumor has left home and is given the chance train to be an MMA fighter in Bain's gym. Their attraction to each other is more than clear. This introduction is interesting, but over way too fast. It's well written but I probably won't be reading part two...simply because I couldn't get the vision of Ronda Rousey out of my head. But if female fighter intrigue you, give this one a try!
Bain. I imagine him as a perfectly chiseled muscular gorgeous man. Rumer. I see her as this super spunky girl who has had a hard life. They have both raised walls around their hearts and souls. And maybe they can help each other begin to love again.
I love the way A.L. writes. She keeps the reader wanting more. I know I'm hooked on all her books.
Both Bain and Rumer have had some kind of bad past. They both don't open up to many if any. Rumer wants to be a Martial art fighter and not many want a female in that. It seems her family isn't for it from what you get. Bain is and just starting to make a name for him. These two both want and don't want each other but will they ever get there. Book two is awaiting for me.
Bain has his world turned upside down. Can one, sassy woman bring him back from the brink of loneliness even though he is constantly surrounded by people? What happens when he gets hurt doing the one thing he loves? Can he heal from his past hurt and move forward? Will his feelings for Rumer bring him out of his funk? Find out in part one of this awesome story!!!
I received an ARC of Bain in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this story of Bain and Rumer. Bain is a fighter and Rumer a female training to become one. This is a fast read and a great story. The characters in the story are good. Love the story line and I look forward to reading Rumer which is book 2.
I have read A.L. Wood's Rock Romance Series and loved it. My feelings for Bain are no different I absolutely loved the start of Bain and Rumer's story. They both have flaws that prevent them from letting their walls down for each other. I flew through this story and had to have book 2, especially after that cliffhanger!!
Love this character. So many layers. Not just your typical alpha brooding hero. Love the raw emotional back stories that are taking place for both Rumer and Bain. And that ending!!!!!
Meh. This was an ok read I found it a bit choppy at times and I wasn't thrilled at the switch of POV where they told the exact same thing ...um I just read that lol. But all in all not awful and it was a quick read.
I was just really getting into the book, only to be a little bummed that it was to be continued on in another book. It didn't detract from the story, which was very good, had some suspense going on, I just downloaded the second book and eagerly looking forwad to starting it.
I received a free copy of this book from a giveaway. I really enjoyed the characters, however I felt this story was over as soon as it got started. I felt the entire book was just getting to know the characters, that's it. If there was more to the story I'm sure I would've rated it much higher.
arrghhh, i didn't catch the cliffy warning. I am so smacking myself right now. It was actually pretty good set-up for a series, I'm just not a fan of series with the same characters.
A quick read but beware it is a cliffy!! I felt bad for Bain. And runes seems to have her own set of issues. I am interested to see how it all turns out!
