LIKE FATHER, LIKE SONArizona Territory Ranger Sam Burrack rides the border badlands to Iron Point hoping to capture Ozzie Cord, a mercenary who killed a sheriff back in Mesa Grande. Cord escaped jail once, but won’t get away this time... But as Sam nears his prey, the trail of scalped bodies makes it clear that someone else has a vendetta. By all appearances, Turner “Big Foot” Pridemore, leader of the scalpers, has gained major footing in Iron Point. He’s driven away the desert Apaches and ousted the law. But he’s missing one his son, Fox... Not satisfied living in his father’s shadow, Fox has allied himself with Ozzie Cord and is staging his own bloody rampage. Now, Sam must walk a fine line between the law and the lawless to make sure he gets his man—and cuts Big Foot and his son down to size.
This book just isn’t my cup of tea, something that happens from time to time. The subject matter is incredibly dark, and it seems unnecessarily violent going through the plot. I have never read a book by this author, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
Mexican cocaine, hopped up psychopathic gangs burning and pillaging town's. A young man child out to prove that he is as ruthless as his father, who promoted and surrounded himself with blood thirsty mercenaries to commit genocide against the Apaches sanctioned by the Mexican government via a contract...hence the "SCALPERS"...nice neighbors...This author gives you with lot of history. If they had all this cocaine around during this era and there seems no one was doing anything to halt the production and distribution, leaves a lot to think about..don't ya think???of course the Ranger, by himself, is hunting these monsters again. You have to hand it to him he has a lot of gumption. He's on the trail for a jail escapee whose joined a bunch of SCALPERS, he's rescuing a mother/daughter from a slaver whose dying. There's something strange about the two, but that's fodder for another adventure..fast pace, never boring, in fact certain dialogue between the Ranger and the other characters will make you laugh.
There are ways to write in English, to describe mutual derogatory antics between cultures, without being a racist bigot. This author was obviously at a loss and couldn't find a way to do it. This was disgusting.
