Picking up where Homeschool Sex Machine left off, the adventure through 90s Christian culture brings us to that notorious institution of chaos and debauchery:
The Christian college.
Step into a world of acoustic guitars, group dates, jean skirts, WWJD bracelets, and mandatory church attendance. A world where your goal is to acquire a spouse, and if absolutely necessary, a diploma.
This is a funny view of the evangelical youth subculture by way of an autobiography. It is pretty funny if you grew up in that space an remember some of the odd things that it entailed.
Pierce's freshman year at Bryan college is entertaining and quite funny; like the prequel, the humor is pretty niche and will appeal most to people with a similar background, but if you identify at all with his time there it's very funny. I thought the use of his "alter ego" Stretch was a bit clunky and stole from the humor a bit, but the book was funny enough to carry the odd choice and I enjoyed it very much.
...for the average reader. I'm not your average reader because I also was indoctrinated to stay pure and holy throughout Bible college and could relate to everything: the tension, the anxiety, the guilt, the insecurities, the worrying about finding Mr. or Mrs. Right, and more guilt. Even if you have no clue, you'll enjoy learning how those "religious" kids do college and laugh a lot along the way.
Another win from Matthew Pierce - the squeakquel to Homeschool Sex Machine featuring CHRISTIAN COLLEGE. Honestly I was left wanting to know what happens next.
