I loved this book. The author’s writing style is so descriptive yet relatable that it keeps you wanting to continue reading to the next page.🪸🌊
I didn’t just picture the kingdom of Almara, Anida, the Nine, and her friends — I felt immersed in the world as I went through this journey with them. I was rooting for these characters the whole way, fully invested as Anida entered a realm she could have never imagined existed outside of mythology, and navigated learning the truth of who she is.
I cannot recommend The Eighth of the Nine enough to readers looking for an amazing story about finding belonging and purpose, a slow burn full of magic, impending evil, and rich character relationships.
Need the next book ASAP!!! Huge congratulations to Cat Powers for creating such a captivating world—and for all the love and hard work that clearly went into it.

I never thought I’d love fantasy so much! I cannot wait for the next book!!

I don’t say this lightly - I finished The Eighth of The Nine in less than 24 hours.
From the first chapter, I was completely hooked. Every time I told myself “one more chapter,” I ended up reading three. The world was so vivid, the characters were impossible not to care about, and the twists kept me guessing until the very end.
This is the kind of fantasy that reminds you why you fell in love with reading in the first place. It has adventure, heart, mystery, and just the right amount of tension to make it impossible to put down.
If you’re looking for your next fantasy obsession, this is it. I already know I’ll be thinking about these characters long after turning the last page.
Huge congratulations to Cat Powers on an incredible debut. If this is just the beginning, I cannot wait to see what’s next.
