Cage I was due to take over from my father, To continue his legacy within the club, But somewhere along the way, I lost my sense of direction. We all lost someone we loved, but I took it the hardest, And I blamed myself. I went downhill, got into trouble more times than I can count, Even doing a stint or five in prison, And I wanted out of the club life. I didn’t think I deserved the president's patch, But my brothers refused to give up on me, They fought for me and encouraged me to go for a ride, A ride that changed my life. I never wanted to settle down, I never wanted to fall in love, But then I met her—my saving grace, my Little Bird wanting to fly. She became the reason why I breathe, She became the reason why I healed, And she becomes the reason why I want to live, And God help anyone who tries to take my Little Bird away from me, Because where she is concerned, The monster will come out….
Drew Ballet has always been my dream, To feel music within me, to feel freedom as I move. I become one with myself, and peace fills me, And I wanted nothing more than to have my mother’s support, To show her how good I am, At times, I feel like I am never enough, and sadness settles in, Breaking my spirit. In my mother’s eyes, I should be a stay-at-home mother, I should be waiting hand and foot for the husband that she chooses, I should be raising babies, Not dancing around with fruitless dreams. The more I ignored her, the more she focused on my sister instead, And it hurt, but despite the hurt, I refused to give up my dreams, I refused to give up my dancing, and nothing and no one could change that, Until him. He came out of nowhere and was suddenly all that I could see, He embedded himself in my life, And in my heart. Growing up, I was used to relying on myself, I was used to being let down, So how do I let in a man who could become my whole life?
This can be read as a standalone. It is book 1 of 7 of the Carnage MC Series, with a HEA. Due to mature content and themes, this book is recommended for readers aged 18+; this novel may contain triggers.
Immature writing. Ridiculous plot being that the sister could have been saved, but obviously no one knew CPR, and just watched her die. But worst of all is how every single book that comes out is exactly the same as the prior book. It's understandable how this author puts a book out every month. The plot does not vary and everyone is exactly the same. Just change the trauma around and you have your next book. Very disappointing to see.

I constantly read all of her books because I have a small sliver of Hope that they’re writing isn’t ChatGPT. The story idea is always great. But this is 100% written by ChatGPT.
The over explanation, the repeating of the background, the overexplaining dialogue and pointing out the obvious it’s so bad. This book and almost every single one of her books just leave me angry.
So this is my official petition to have a good writer take her ideas and write them better
Sorry to say this but this is quite the snooze fest. Not a lot happens apart from the MMC putting on a “poor me” routine. Anything remotely interesting is dealt with off page, presumably to make storylines in the other books in the series. Overall below par. Grammatical there is no issues but as I mentioned it’s rather boring.
This book was so good. You feel bad for both of the main characters for what they went through. Their connection and love helps them both overcome what they have been through. I swoon just thinking about their love.
Can't wait for the next book, hopefully it's Tricks.
I really loved this book! I rarely dislike this author's work; while there have been a few that weren't quite stellar, I love the vast majority of her books.
This one was true to form, though I found myself in that frustrating position where I couldn't justify a 4-star rating, but didn't quite feel it was a perfect 5. Amazon really needs to introduce half-star ratings! I’m settling on 5 stars, but if I could, I’d give it a 4.5.
Here is why it fell just short for me:
The Stakes: There was little to no danger. I didn't necessarily need the typical "hospitalization" scene, but a higher level of threat would have been great.
The Brothers: The interactions between the brothers felt a bit forced and infantile, which I didn't love.
Lack of Consequences: It bothered me that the mother and sister seemed to get away with everything. I wanted to see them face real consequences for their actions.
The Pregnancy Trope: The early pregnancy felt forced. I know this author loves this trope, but I would have loved to see more of the relationship develop before adding a baby to the mix.
Series Setup: There wasn’t enough discussion regarding the side characters to set up the rest of the series. I’m fairly sure Trick and Clark are up next, but the lead-in for Trick felt too vague. Usually, this author does a better job of giving us a clearer sense of what’s coming next.
The "Drew is scary" Narrative: The ongoing joke about being "scared of Drew" because she kneed someone in the junk and broke it got old fast. She defended herself—End.of.Story. It was frustrating to watch supposedly hardened bikers act as if she were a ninja ready to break everyone’s junk. She did what any woman would do given the opportunity; it felt like a bit of a stretch.
The Highlights: Despite those nitpicks, the lead couple was fantastic. Cage (Bellamy) was great, and he knew he loved her from the start. I also loved that Drew didn’t have a single whiny bone in her body—they made a beautiful couple. While I would have loved more external tension (not necessarily between the couple, as it was refreshing to have a non-angsty relationship, which is rare for this author), I can’t complain too much when the book was overall so enjoyable. I’m looking forward to the next installment as always!

Review: This book is different from the other series from this author. This is a story of a man and woman who both need to heal. They find their healing in each other. There is ow drama but not like regular mc ow drama storylines. Honestly, it was a very refreshing start to a new series. I look forward to upcoming books.
I'm so happy this author is able to release books monthly, cos what a cliffhanger!!
Okay not exactly a cliffhanger, but a teaser of what's to come for Trick and Clark, and a smaller hint with Knuckles. I love these books, and I'm so glad I'm in the Facebook group to get teasers and updates.
If you haven't read any books by Charlotte McGinlay before, I recommend you do. You can start anywhere since there are crossovers, but if you go to her author profile on kindle and sort it by publication date, you can start at the "first" ones if you like reading in order like me. You won't regret it if you like MC romance with OW drama (I think there's been 2.5 books with cheating, and this author is the only one I've read where the cheating doesn't bother me because of how it's written) and over the top drama in a non campy wat, you'll love these.
First let me say I love Charlotte McGinlay’s books. I think a lot of them (this one included) are repetitive, the characters will bring up the main issue over and over and over. It can be a bit much. But even so, her stories are amazing. The reason I gave this book a lower rating is because it drags towards the end and it is repetitive to where it got to be too much, I had to skim some chapters to make it to the end.
⭐️ I would still suggest this book and any of her books to any reader looked for second chance romance books.
Now to jump into the book Drew and Cage are two broken people going through the motions. They find each other by chance when Cage is doing his best to straighten his life out. You find out that their families are connected and everything starts to fall in place. Of course a bunch of crazy stuff happens but they find their way to a HEA.
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ Couple: Cage & Drew ❋❋❋❋❋❋ Honestly if this book started when he was twenty-five and skipped his earlier years I could have actually liked him a bit. It definitely was different than most of her MC stories, drama of course, but kind of refreshing not having a betrayal. Cage and Drew were sickly cute with each other and the way they both filled and healed their jagged edges was sweet. Most of Drew's family issues did not make any sense but "crazy" is expected when reading this authors books, so it had to come from somewhere. Ready for this new crew.
There was drama - of course there was drama, it’s. C.L McGinlay book - but the drama was surrounding the couple…not the couple themselves. They were just solid from the beginning.
Cage and ‘Little Bird’ are both the same - possessive, insta-love weirdo’s who need each other and help each other. I loved their journey to finding each other. Cage was drowning in guilt and self hatred and Little Bird was nervous and basically done being forgotten by her family. There journey together was brutal, but once they meet…just pure heart eyes. It’s the people surrounding them that are the issue.
I loved Joel - his story was great!
I loved seeing and learning about all the different characters.
Im giving it a 3 stars but my heart is leaning towards 2.5 because Im so incredibly annoyed. I finished this book because there are so few good MC romances out there and this one had real potential. The author can definitely write...and by that I mean she can string words together to create sentences but when it comes to telling a story she missed the plot.
The book was fairly short yet I feel like it could be even shorter. There was so much repetition. The same two plot lines basically on repeat -him blaming himself for his sisters death and her having a love-hate relationship with her mother. Well there is also the part where he is every womens dream and there is not a single women in his orbit that doesnt want him.
Everyone's behaviour is so inappropriate and I cringed and rolled my eyes so hard throughout the book. This book actually really pissed me off. I usually love a messy book with OWD and I love a confrontation with house bunnies but all the contrived drama in this book was annoying.
I also deeply disliked the FMC...she was practically a door mouse then starts standing up for herself but somehow never confronts her mother. She is so inappropriate in so many ways and I truly wonder if she was actually a ballerina and not a stripper (no offence to strippers). The sex talk in front of his brothers and father 🙄. The author tries to make her come across as badass but instead she fails dismally.
I really dont know why I finished the book. I wish it was better because Im a sucker for an MC series.
Im actually going to bump this down to two stars. I doubt I'll continue the series.

Get your tissues ready as this story will break your heart and put it together again. Cage has alot of guilt and pain which he struggles to overcome and Drew has dedicated her life to her career while dealing with an unhinged sister and neglecting mother. What do you get when you put these two together? A love that can bring you back to the light from the darknesses. This was so different from McGinlay other MC stories never have I felt such heartache for the characters and just wanting to reach in and hug them. 10 out of 10 can't wait for the next book
Get your tissues ready, because this story will break your heart and then slowly piece it back together again.
Cage is carrying an overwhelming amount of guilt and pain, struggling to find a way forward, while Drew has thrown herself into her career as she navigates life with an unhinged sister and a neglectful mother. When these two come together, they create a love story that proves even the deepest darkness can lead back to the light.
This felt so different from McGinlay's other MC stories. I have never experienced such heartache for fictional characters or wanted so badly to reach into the pages and hug them both. Their journey was raw, emotional, and beautifully written, making every hard-fought moment of hope and healing feel earned.
An easy 10 out of 10 for me. I already can't wait for the next book.
Not the best effort by the author. No real drama, no real OW drama.
The H is a self destructive and selfish man-child. Yes there was trauma, but it was portrayed as having a bunch of grown adults standing around and watching a tragedy occur and just shrugging their shoulders. No attempts to save the child? Focus all your attention on the CW? Like you see it happening and wait until the deed is done to shoot?? Very unrealistic.
Then H plays poor pitiful me and makes it all about himself? Yeah, pity party of one and f everyone else? Ok. He was so stupid and immature. Not alpha at all, does not take any responsibility and does not step up to make things right, rather he hides his head in the sand.
I just was not really a big fan of the story and found it very bland and skim read a lot just to see if there were any juicy bits...nope. I'll keep trudging through to the next book, but if the trend continues, I may need to give this author a pause from being on my must read list.
I so enjoyed this story. It is different from other MC books I have read. We see an alpha male torn up because his bed partner killed his baby sister because she heard the girl say she aborted their baby and the sister was going to tell her brother. His guilt that he brought his crazy bed partner into close proximity to his family caused him to go nomad. During his travels he meets a lady ballet dancer-teacher and his other half is found. A sweet romance follows. Her sister is a pain and her Mother is a difficult person. Her Dad is a great guy. She is a wonderful person who teaches ballet to young children. A sweet romance ensues. Highly recommend. HEA, no cheating by the newly formed couple, no cliffhanger. I did not want to let go of these characters. Enjoy!
Cage & Drew’s character complimented each other they are drawn to each other like magnets and grew stronger each day. Cage suffered guilt and pain for the loss of his baby sister and the termination of his child by his ex who wanted his patch. He was being groomed to take over his father’s place as president but he became troubled and went nomad. He went to prison, fighting, hooked on drugs, traveled and openly displayed his sexual exploits. Drew is a well known ballerina, taught children, raised money for charities, abused by her sister and came second to her sister with her mother. She loved her dad and he cherished her and he saw her mother’s neglect. Definitely angst, attempted rape, mental abuse, sex, drugs pregnancy and more. Wish the complete series was on audible even.
I have mixed feelings about this one, I enjoyed the idea of the story, but it seemed to drag on for me and the repeat dialogue was annoying, there are also a few grammatical errors that irked me and the time line seemed off in some places.. This is an Insta love story, the mmc is dealing with his trauma surrounding the death of his sister that he believes is his fault and has spent the last 8yrs self distructing. The fmc is dealing with her own trauma surrounding her mother and sister... sister is a complete fruitcake! Insta love, found mc family, surprise baby... some spice... it was an ok read, but not the best from this author and left me wanting more!
Well written and ridiculous. The sister's over the top behaviour and the mom's blatant disregard for Drew is too much. Any respect I could have had for Joel in his being the solid parent to Drew shrinks significantly knowing that he's still with his wife. Her sister was like a a rabid, starving raccoon ready to do anything to throw hate and misery at her sister.
Cage...I honestly didn't like him. He needed therapy not a "ride." For arguments sake, let's say I can believe the ride is the therapy he needs—because it is absolutely believable. The only good until he met Drew was stopping his using. Almost 80-85% of this book is him reiterating the circumstances surrounding his sister's death and the unreasonable belief that he's at fault. That gets old fast.
I absolutely loved this book! Though, I have absolutely no idea how a mother could be that way?! Thankful, she at least had her father. Completely shocked me that her dad was also part of the MC. Loved how he was what she needed & I loved how she was his rock. That he was able to heal with her help. Think he just needed an outsiders point of view. I did have a two issues with story. One, when did she learn to tattoo? There was no mention of it, just one day she did? Second, there are a few typos. Not many, but towards the end, there seemed to be quite a bit. It is an insta-love, but it works. I only wish it was longer. I'd highly recommend & will definitely be continuing on! On to the next!
I gotta say Cage is definitely my favorite MMC that Charlotte has written, I didn’t think anything would top Dirty, but I was wrong. Cages story will pull at your heart strings. Drew is absolutely perfect for him. She was made for him and him her. I loved how honestly they were and so freaking relieved there was communication between them. That trope happens in so many books, and I am so happy that wasn't the case with this one. This book definitely be a reread for me. Im so excited for what comes next in the series. Although Cage has built my standards high. Thank you Charlotte for another amazing book!!!
I think this is one of the best books from the author in my opinion, I don’t mind dark themes or triggering issues however I prefer when the love is green flag and it’s the case for this relationship. However the reason why I gave it for starts is because I keep seeing the same in all her books, it’s always a woman the worst person in the story and not necessarily the OW. Even in books when the MMC is unredeemable (not this case) the “plot twist” is no, he isn’t that awful, his mother is worse, or his sister or her sister. Anyway, besides that I really enjoyed this book and loved the couple.
What a great start to a new series, talk about loss, betrayal, losing your way, learning to forgive yourself, guilt and grief are the hardest. But Cage was lost and he stop in a town 3 hours away from home. Met Drew she showed him to live again. Don’t get me wrong Drew has to deal with a bratty little sister, a mother who doesn’t have time for her, a crazy ex. I just fell for this second chance at learning to love, and have a future plus all the drama , action, witty puns , Drew and her kicks, Cage finally having his happily ever after. Can’t wait for what’s to come.
So I did like the story. I love both our MC’s. What I didn’t like was the story dragged too much with his guilt. I wanted to see how he was doing when he went back to the club. But it was like he is back then the end. Like what?! So disappointing.
The next thing is her mother. Like lady you can’t be that st*p*d!!! How many times you gonna let your daughter down. Hurt her. Think it’s ok for your you get daughter. I wish they would’ve left the mom with the sister in their own town because that was ridiculous. Even hurting your grandchildren. SMH. Come on now…..
Insta love with a lot of family drama. He lost his sister because of his fling and loose himself in his grief. She is the light at the end of his tunnel, she is the light to his darkness. She helps recover from his destructive behavior and depression and helps him face his demons and his guilt. He protects her against her toxic sister and mother as well. There is also a surprise pregnancy. I really enjoyed reading this story as it doesn’t romanticize the MC world and shows its toxic side and the weight of its expectation . I can’t wait to read more about Trick and Clark’s story.
Ok. The story is promising, but there is a lot happening. The writing is very immature (using exclamation marks excessively). The same thing is repeated over and over throughout the book. Also, the whole part about the mother and sister is pure insanity. There is absolutely no way either character should have made it to the end of the book. They were given way too many chances and continued to cause damage. It was infuriating to read. Lots of typos and errors made it a rough read.
An other great story from Charlotte!! This story is about Heartache, hope and love etches throughout the book so get the tissues!! Cage has a tragedy happen when he's 18 and instead of facing it he spirals. His club tells him to go nomad for a year and when he's coming back he sees Drew. Drew instantly knows he's hers and vice versa. I don't want to give away to much so GO READ IT FOR YOURSELF!! 10/10 ⭐'S 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5
emotional and gripping that kept me hooked from beginning to the end. The story delivers a strong mix of romance, suspense, and intense character development, making it easy to become invested in the characters’.A great choice for readers who enjoy passionate romance with plenty of drama and heart. I can’t wait to meet the rest of the club.
What a great book to start a new series. Drew and Cage were amazing characters who were carrying a lot of pain. I absolutely loved them together and their story was so sweet. You can see how they healed one another. Cannot wait for Trick's book. That one looks like it's going to be a rough one.
The writing has gotten better, there were a lot less spelling and grammatical errors than in the previous books.
I don't know what Charlotte puts in her books because even with the errors (which frustrated me in previous books) I gobble her books up.
Looking forward to the next book
This one was had a lot less angst and drama but I feel like it was setting up the storyline for the other books which hopefully go back to her dark, angst, dramatic roots.
