Saffron’s poetic writing strikes again, deep felt words tell a story full of soul and emotions. Ms Kent manages to pull all my strings, she’s the master puppet to my feels and she shakes and juggles them with her artsy. Her magic words conjure up characters that bleeds emotions, I was captivated and enchanted by these stories.

This first boxset features the first two stories of St. Mary’s Rebels and it includes

𝗠𝗬 𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗢𝗪 (Book 1)

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗜𝗟𝗗 𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗚 & 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗬 (AGV novella, ends in a cliffhanger) previously published as a prequel to AGV

𝗔 𝗚𝗢𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗢𝗨𝗦 𝗩𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗡 (Book 2, ends in an HEA)

If you love your heroes to be villains impossible to resist then you are in the right place! Other tropes include

Morally grey anti-heroes

Obsession, jealousy, and power struggles

Angsty, lyrical writing

#1: ‘My Darling Arrow’

“...Your happiness … IS my happiness…”

This is a sweet, angsty read that definitely made a workday more interesting for me—it hits lots of tropes and packs a lot of other fun qualities:

🌟 Cheating.
⚽ Intense parent w/ unreasonable expectations. (MMC’s)
🌟 ^ There’s an older sibling like this as well. (FMC’s)
⚽ Forbidden (sister’s ex / ex’s sister).
—Also: coach / player.
🌟 An evil faculty member.
⚽ Sports romance.
🌟 Loads of angst.
⚽ Lots of talk during steamy scenes.
🌟 Academy setting.
⚽ Unrequited love (or is it?).

The FMC is cute, but juvenile—not just because she’s a teenager but, at times, she feels younger than that, more like single-digits aged. I liked her, but struggled to believe she was 17/18 years old at times. Though … as it went on, I realized she could also be wise beyond her years and insightful … so it felt like she grew—well done.

The MMC is likable, driven, determined, sometimes-alpha (like during steamy scenes), a casual biker and a sports star. A fun combination of course and he’s just broken enough. We get to see him grow as well.

Overall: 4 stars.

Audio:
Both narrators were absolutely perfect, as was the overall sound quality—5 stars. 🦩

#1.5: ‘The Wild Mustang and The Dancing Fairy’

She knows/feels he’s toxic, a villain, yet can’t stay away … this is the tale of an innocent dancer and a ‘bad boy’ ‘soccer’ star.

Written in first-person POV,
Present tense.
She’s torn between her boyfriend and her brother—they’ve a very serious rivalry in their world. What a way to get through one’s teen / early 20s years! She understands none of it, loves all involved—she’s in for some … drama? Angst? Life-lessons? Buckle up!

“I’m the reason girls like you have a curfew…”

Intriguing, isn’t it?
And then he goes onto self-sabotage because he’s not nearly as bad as he comes off … that’s my take anyway, if you’re reading this feel free to comment-discuss! It takes two overused plot devices, but puts a spin on them both, so that it’s not a dull/ overdone read at all. There’s a storm brewing here…

⚽ ’Bad Boy’ + ‘Good girl’.
🩰 Small town vibes.
⚽ They’re from rival-families.
🩰 She’s inexperienced.
⚽ Bit of role-play.
🩰 Lies, deceit, betrayal.

Overall:
It’s a quick, darkish read that really ties some of the series together and … while you don’t *need* it, I strongly recommend it. Because you sorta do actually need it.

4 stars.

#2: ‘A Gorgeous Villain’
The drama and forbidden vibes are running high in this one, which features a dancer and a soccer player … who has a rivalry with her brothers. Lots of potential for fun and a little bit of lowkey danger …

This was a fun listen, it packs lots of great characters and heart-wrenching moments, humor, a dancer, big dreams, two very strong leads and a bit of reform and growth.

🩰 Forbidden vibes / enemies-to-lovers vibes, ‘Romeo & Juliet’ style.
🏎️💨 Sports star lead.
🩰 Blackmail.
🏎️💨 Reform school setting.
🩰 Betrayal, lies.
🏎️💨 V!rg!n heroine.
🩰Unplanned pregnancy / teen pregnancy.
🏎️💨 Heroine is incredibly sweet/ innocent / wholesome.
🩰A broken male lead.
🏎️💨 A loveable, supportive, positive girlfriend squad.

Overall, 4 stars.

My Darling Arrow
3.5*
Salem and Arrow.
I listened to this. The narrators did a good job. I thought it was a good story. I have mixed feelings about Salem there were times she just came off obsessive and juvenile with her feelings and a bit dramatic and over the top. Arrow was your typical angry alpha. Was a little aggravated that his team didn't have his back and nobody was a bit curious as to why he did what he did considering that was not normal behavior and it was his supposed best friend. I'm looking forward to jumping into the next story in this series.

The Wild Mustang & The Dancing Fairy (St. Mary’s Rebels 1.5)

This is included with the audio book. It tells the story of how Reed and Calliope came to know each other. The rivalry between Reed and her brother, the betrayal that led her to do what she did and a glimpse into how she ended up at St. Mary's. Doesn't need to be read to read A Gorgeous Villain. I enjoyed it I always like back stories if they aren't part of the story I'm reading or listening to.

A Gorgeous Villain

This takes place 2 years after the prequel if you are reading this you don't need to read the prequel because you get the gist of why she was sent to St. Mary's. I listened to the audio and as I mentioned before it was included with the audio. So far I can say this one is my favorite. Loved listening to Reed and his Fae that is what he called Calliope. I do want to say I really enjoyed listening to the narrators because they kept me entertained and invested in their story and the struggles. Hard falling for the boy your brothers that is your only family can't stand. Also being pushed away by the boy but also dealing with him being possessive and jealous but also caring and protective. Can't wait for more of this series to come out in audio and just saw a spin off of this series was released the first book is Calli's brother Reeds rival on the field and Reed's sister.

My Review: Ah, I was so excited when I saw this series as a boxset. It is one of my favorites. This book includes the first two books I ever read by Saffron, and it started my obsession with her characters and storytelling.

My Darling Arrow: I devoured this book. I loved the unique names of the main characters, Salem and Arrow. I also enjoyed how their relationship evolved. Salem views herself as a nuisance because of her sister's constant emotional bashing and stays hidden in the shadows. On the flip side, you have Arrow, who is in the spotlight, and everyone loves him. They both meet their downfalls and emerge together for the better. I highly recommend this book.

A Gorgeous Villain: Reed Jackson is a gorgeous bad-boy soccer player who thrives on rebelling against his father and competing against Ledger Thorne. Calliope Thorne is an impressionable young woman, the youngest and only girl sibling of the Thorne brothers, and a talented ballerina. Her goal is to attend Juilliard Ballet. She's been warned to stay away from Reed, the gorgeous villain with wolf eyes. An unexpected meeting in the woods forces them together. He helps her dance, and she falls into his trap of heartbreak. Filled with Rage she destroys the only thing that he loves. The repercussions and fallout land Callie in St. Mary's for Troubled Girls. Callie experiences heartbreak throughout this book between her brothers and Reed. As much as she tries to fight it, she continues to gravitate towards Reed, especially once a major bombshell is dropped. This book has romance, heartbreak, steam, and betrayals. I highly recommend this series.

This Boxset has the first 2 books of the series plus the prequel to the second one. I really enjoyed the introduction and background to each of the characters within their respective stories.

MY DARLING ARROW
Distraction for her Unrequited Love

Arrow and Salem have known each other for so long and the love she has for him seems unrequited, especially since he has been dating her sister for years. Salem is sent to St. Mary's and when Arrow arrives as the new soccer coach after a breakup the dynamic between them is forever changed. This was a heartbreaking and heart grabbing story. It was an enjoyable read.

A GORGEOUS VILLIAN (including Prequel The Wild Mustang & The Dancing Fairy)
Car in the Lake

Callie is at St. Mary's for a very specific incidnet that occurs with Reed's prized possession. She was a dancer who now is in reform school but it doesn't stop her from sneaking out to still dancer. Her reunion with Reed complicates matters, but it doesn't deter her from going after what she wants. Their story is exciting as well as meaningful on a deeper level than anyone else realizes. It was entertaining to read.

This series won't be easy to read and not to everyone's liking but Saffron Kent does a wonderful job building complex characters with a unique darkness that envelopes their growth with their partner.

Saffron A. Kent once again proves why she’s one of my all-time favorite authors. This box set is emotionally addictive, angsty, and impossible to put down, packed with forbidden tension, jealousy, and relationships that refuse to be simple.

Each story at St. Mary’s is driven by longing, power struggles, and characters who constantly blur the lines they swear they won’t cross. My Darling Arrow is intimate and quietly consuming, built around secret love letters and unspoken desire. The Wild Mustang & The Dancing Fairy brings betrayal, rivalry, and high-stakes emotion that pulls you in fast, while A Gorgeous Villain delivers a deeply satisfying second-chance romance with real emotional payoff.

The writing is lyrical and immersive, the tension never lets up, and the characters are messy, flawed, and painfully human. The men are jealous, controlling, and intense—but it’s their vulnerability and devotion that make these stories unforgettable.

If you love angsty romance with forbidden dynamics, morally grey characters, and relationships fueled by obsession and emotion, this box set is a must-read. Five stars without hesitation.

My Darling Arrow
5⭐️

I love this book so freaking much. I think about it constantly. The unrequited love paired with the forbidden aspect is just unmatched, and honestly no one does it like Saffron.
I find myself thinking about the characters, the letters, and even the soccer way more often than I’d like to admit. The writing is insanely addictive, and even though it’s a long book, it never feels like it. I flew through it without realizing how much time had passed. Completely consumed me.

A Gorgeous Villain
4.5⭐️

I jumped straight into this one and it was just as good 😭🤦🏽‍♀️
I’m a sucker for an accidental pregnancy trope, and this was done so incredibly well I don’t even know how to put it into words. The characters absolutely tested my patience and had me wanting to throw my Kindle across the room at times, but the payoff made every second worth it. So frustrating. So satisfying 🤭

Please do yourself a favor and continue the series after these two. It’s genuinely incredible and deserves all the love.

St. Mary's Rebels Box Set, Volume 1 by Saffron A. Kent is a forbidden romance series that I listened to on audio narrated by Jason Clarke, Sarah Puckett, Stefanie Kay, and Gideon Frost.

My Darling Arrow is a forbidden sports romance. (Arrow and Salem)

The Wild Mustang & The Dancing Fairy is a prequel novella to Gorgeous Villain. (Calliope and Reed)

A Gorgeous Villain is an enemies to lovers second chance romance. (Calliope and Reed)

I loved the relationships that bloomed between each set of couples. Each of their relationships were extremely messy but you couldn't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

All the narrators did an amazing job on the narration. They all really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this series if you're looking for a forbidden romance, sports romance, enemies to lover's romance, or contemporary romance.

This is a good storyline with lots of emotions. Falling for your sisters boyfriend is always going to end badly. With so much on the line do these characters hide their feelings or wear them with pride?
A brilliant performance.

Oh this is a beautiful, beautiful storyline. I love how the characters grow over the book. It starts off with school bully to lovers and then as the years go on how the characters mature and grow within themselves is brilliant to witness. A fantastic performance from both narrators.

Is there anything better than putting two of my favorite books together and making them a box set?
Nope, there isn't.
I found My Darling Arrow back in 2022 and, from there, started my obsession with Saffron's writing. I love every single one of her books, but especially her St. Mary's Rebels. So having these two books together is always fun.
Salem and Arrow, Callie and Reed. These two are the first St. Mary's couples, and their stories are such a fun read; there is everything in there from longing to a surprise in Callie's book. They are meant for girls who love listening to Lana Del Rey and love a good ol' love story that is a little steamy with MFC who are a little love-struck and hold their own with their men. An awesome girl group and broody men. Then this is the book.

OMG FINALLY A BOXSET WITH MY FAVORITES ALL IN ONE PLACE!!

I love the St. Mary’s Rebels series because it has some of the best dark themed forbidden romances and Saffron Kent brings her unique style to each character that pulls you in right from the start especially with both A Gorgeous Villain (accidentalpregnancy) & My Darling Arrow (sister's ex fiancé). These two books are some of my favorites and now having them in one place is perfect along with the extra prequel added.

A definite must have here and automatic one-click for any reader who loves a good forbidden romance only Saffron Kent can deliver!!

As a reader, you will undoubtedly go into this series expecting whiny love stories from a bunch of bratty teenage girls. “Bad girls” are not my heroine of choice, so I stayed away from this series for way too long. I feel so betrayed by Saffron Kent. These are not the troubled girls they are made out to be. They are beautiful, strong, kind, and so misunderstood. There are some really big emotions in these stories, held by some of the most mature and grown up teenagers that I have read. The characters and storyline are unique, but also extremely relatable and this box set will keep you busy for many angst-filled hours.

If you haven't met the St. Mary's Rebels yet there is no better way to get started than with this box set. This box set gets you books 1, 1.5 and two. Book 1 features Salem and Arrow's and books 1.5 and 2 focus on Callie and Reed. These romances and these characters truly inspire a wide array of emotions and feelings in the reader while making you fall every bit as hard as they do. This is one of my all-time favorite series that I reread often and always enjoy just as much as I did the first time.

So happy to have this in a box set!
Darling Arrow is so good. If you have read Saffron’s The Unrequited, this book has the same vibe. Salem is obsessed with Arrow, just like how the FMC was in that book. I love the dynamics of these characters and their family members.
The spicy scenes are off the charts!

This is volume 1 in Kent's St Mary's Rebels Box set that includes the first three titles in this series. Titles include book 1 - My Darling Arrow; book 1.5 a novella - The Wild Mustang & The Dancing Fairy which is a prequel to book 2 -
A Gorgeous Villain. I've reviewed these individually on my Goodreads account but as a collection I adore these titles together. Book 1 can be read/listened as a standalone but the other two titles need to be in order. Book 1 features main characters Salem and Arrow which feels like a forbidden romance as Arrow starts as the boyfriend of Salem's sister but oh, the events and sacrifices made for love lead to hurt but eventual healing and love. Books 1.5 and 2 features main characters Reed Jackson and Calliope Thorne. Book 1.5 leaves us on a heartbroken cliffhanger and book 2 delivers a completion to their HEA. I adore the protectiveness all along of Reed and Calli's brothers too. If you want to see this as a forbidden romance, I could see that as Calli's brothers forbid her to be with Reed but honestly, I see this more as a darker romance with the hurt they all inflict due to their own hurts, that could be the case in all these titles. We and these characters hurt ourselves and others because we are hurting and through these characters, we see hope and eventual love shine which also delivers healing. The narration is perfect, the romance some sweet and great steam is well, great and while books 1 can be standalone and 1.5/2 read together could be alone - I like how St Mary's and the friendship between Salem, Calli and some others in the connection. I'm already looking forward to more in this series...Volume 2, here I come!
