This is book four in the Hollow blood series and it has absolutely become a favorite series.
Book one is the “slowest”- as most romantasy books laying the groundwork.
This book quickly hits a fast paced , high action high drama story line that has running for the next book in the series.
You continue following Aria , and Nick, as they unravel some dark secrets.
Without giving too much away Aria and Nick face battles between doing what’s right and protecting people they “should” be loyal to.
Found family
Family secrets
Battles
Romance
Heavy on the touch /him/her and unalive .

This fourth book in the Hollow Blood series is more about Aria and Nick establishing their newly inherit realms.

Crimson and Urydeia

Rebuilding, re-establishing a form of community, reuniting all the realms to cooperate, and to form a council …of sorts between Vampire and Fae.

Although it’s not all smooth sailing as boundaries are tested between Arias mother, Kayleen, as mother and daughter butt heads, which leads to Nick saying

“You look like you are about to set fire to the forest and apologise to the ashes “

It also reintroduces us to Arias adopted brother, Ethan, who previously had betrayed her trust but now, is back having been brutally tortured, and used ( along with his late half sister) by Arias enemies, Nicks estranged parents, Sarabeth and Otto.

His reappearance also causes more ripples between Aria and her mother, Kayleen, who had never been much of a mother to Ethan.

So, as they get Crimson and Urydeia ready to receive the heads of all he different clans to form a council, they discover that the new Utopian realms they are trying to form appear to be under threat from…You Guess it…Sarabeth and Otto.

These two have discovered a signature for the Veil..

Which basically means they have been able to concoct magic to unable them to access the magical portal that they shouldn’t have been able to access.

Thus, allowing them to create in their evil Laboratories odd, reanimated, super magical, evil creatures using Deathcraft.

A form of magic where they use dead humans as shells/vessals, fill them up with pretty potent magic, and send them of with purpose to kill.

The issue being the wards set up by Aria and co, …should not be allowing these creatures through into the realms so, therefore, they realise, there must be a mole.

Of course, what would these books be if there wasn’t also relationship drama coinciding with all this other, “otherworldly” drama.

And in this book, Hadriel and Audrey’s slow burn back and forth, sarcastic banter, relationship finally gets pushed to the fore front as they both ( finally ) admit their their true feelings for each other

“I hated how much I wanted him to say it first, hated how I kept building armor out of silence and calling it strength”.- Audrey

There is also an “ out of the blue “ relationship started between
Ethan and a new character ( of sorts ) Marie.

Marie: works in the court and, is assigned to look after Ethan and help him in his recovery after his physical and mental torture at the hands of Nicks parents.

Now Ethan is back in Aria and Nicks good books, both are glad to have her brother, and his best friend, back in the fold

Thus, they are more than happy to allow the bubbly, pocket full of sunshine , Marie to help in his recovery…
( while not so covertly matchmaking )

Personally, I felt the introduction of the character Marie, was…well…a little cringe and can we say Foreshadowing like crazy! that this was going to be Ethan’s girlfriend
( especially if Nick and Aria had anything to do with it.)

The way in which this storyline was blatantly being forced upon us was jarring.

As cute as the interactions between Nick, Marie, and Ethan ( particularly at breakfast in the dining room) are-

It was a a little clunky, she appear Sooo… sickly sweet, ( toothache sweet) She was most definitely going to be an acquired taste, ( naming chickens 😒 protection spells for pigs 🙄) but I guess the author had decided this was the kind of girl with this personality that was needed to fix the broken, shadow of his former self, Ethan.

Especially since there only room for one sarcastic, smart mouth girlfriend in this story
That being Audrey.
.
Much to the amusement of Nick and Aria, who, having established their own, sex-at-the-drop-of-a-hat relationship, they are now taking great delight at torturing other members of their friends group.

Hadriel and Audrey new relationship

And now, it appears, they like watching Ethan squirm in Marie’s company.

So, everyone is now all paired up! Yay! 😏

Next! I predict Triple dating back in Seattle? 🤔

HA! ☝️
Turns out, I wasn’t far wrong with the above sentence as Marie is now pushed into the “inner circle” friends group.

And they all, just LOVE her! 😏

After a brief interval of couples getting to know one another,

( Cough! ..Aria and Nick sexy talk.

Hadriel and Audrey eye-rolling each other and blushing.

Marie being annoying cutsy as Nathan suppresses grinning at her)

The big bad threat that is Sarabeth and Otto returns ….

Setting us up for the next instalment

Overall, plot wise this series is still keeping me entertained.

Ironically enough, it’s the chapters pertaining to the relationship aspect that are the most annoying,

Sometimes it like the author suddenly remembers that Aria and Nick are still, this, “ over the moon” hot for each other sexy couple and we have these sudden chapter busts of crazy uninhibited sex!

The only break from these two came with the sudden outbreak of kissing between Hadriel and Audrey.

( GOD! I’m DREADING it if we Ethan and Marie POV’s when they finally hook up .
That girl is already annoying AF! and getting on my nerves )

So,
On to the next instalment I go ….

One thing that continues on for me in this series is how relatable the writing style feels. Regardless of what's going on in the plot, or who is doing what, the way it's written just somehow brings a level of realism into this fantasy world.
When Ethan came back. Oh man I was waiting for this moment. While I still think he was off the hook far too easily, ( I mean do we remember how cold and detached he was continuously while she was tortured and even able to smirk and laugh about certain things?!) Aria holding her mother accountable was so freaking beautiful. "And don't you dare pretend indifference wasn't violence". How this entire showdown happened was articulated so well.
Going back to Crimson court is where I thought things sort of plateaued. Hadriel and Audrey having their own POVs was unnecessary, and the rebuilding which was the main focus for a lot of the previous book, again took up a lot of space in this book. I'm ready to move past that part.
I was also hoping to discover who the mole was! And bravo because I cannot figure it out.
It was great to jump back into this series, and I can't wait for the next book. Thanks to the author for the early read. The way many of the emotional situations are written elevates the story to a level that feels poetic and raw. And yet in the same breath it's scrappy, cursing, clawing, and lets me know this is not a YA series. Im left believing what is written because it's felt through the writing and not because I'm told to believe it. And that's something so many authors fail to hit the mark on.

Tainted Truths is another gripping installment in The Hollow Blood Series that kept me completely invested from beginning to end. P. Carreira once again delivers a story packed with suspense, shocking revelations, and emotional depth that makes it impossible to put down.
From the very first chapter, the story pulls you back into this dark and captivating world. The twists and secrets kept me guessing throughout, and every time I thought I had everything figured out, a new revelation turned the story on its head. The stakes feel higher than ever, making every decision and every confrontation carry real weight.
One of my favorite aspects of this book was the continued growth of the characters. Their relationships, struggles, and unwavering loyalty to one another made the emotional moments hit even harder. The balance between action, romance, and character development was done incredibly well, keeping the pacing fast while still allowing for meaningful character moments.
While there were a few scenes that felt slightly rushed, they didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story. Overall, Tainted Truths is an intense and addictive addition to the series. Fans of dark romantasy filled with secrets, betrayal, and unforgettable characters won't want to miss this one.

I received this as an advanced reader copy.

I enjoyed this story so much! Tainted Truths continues Aria's journey after she fought to claim her throne, only to find herself facing even greater dangers. From the very beginning, I've loved P. Carreira's writing style, and it's what made me fall in love with her books in the first place.

Aria is the definition of a badass female main character. From the first time I met her, she turned every hardship into strength and power, and watching her continue to grow throughout this book was incredible. She truly shines as an FMC, balancing vulnerability with determination in a way that makes her impossible not to root for.

Every revelation raises even more questions, and the twists are so well done that I never knew what was coming next. The shifting alliances, hidden motives, and conflicts between the courts create nonstop suspense, making it difficult to put the book down.

Tainted Truths is a captivating sequel with phenomenal world-building that left me desperate for more. If you love dark fantasy with strong heroines, intricate political intrigue, and shocking revelations that stay with you long after you finish reading, this book is definitely worth picking up.

✨My honest ARC review✨

P. Carreira has Done it yet again. I don’t know how she does it, but you always want to keep reading, and never put her books down. This is book 4 in the series, but it doesn’t feel like it has already been 4 books, the only thing is, you never want it to end.

The series bring you so many emotions. You smile, laugh, cry, and just stare in front of you. It becomes a part of who you are.

Some quotes:
* ”He was kind. Brutal when I needed it. Gentle when I didn’t deserve it. He didn’t fix me- he saw me. And he stayed. Through the screaming and the shaking and the blood. Through the madness and the power and the silence. ”
* ”How noble, abandoning your daughter to save her. Classic.”
* ”Can’t believe they made us walk into a palace of glowing crystal and trauma and didn’t even think to give us a decent bed.” Nick tapped the wall behind him. ”This thing is cold. And hard.” I grinned. ”So are you. ”
* ”Every chain they put on us, we broke. Every time they thought we were down, we got back up. Bleeding, maybe- but breathing.”

**Advanced copy received direct from the author. This greedy gremlin says thank you 🖤**

Oh look book 4 and here I am AGAIN saying “WTF” at the end.
P is the queen of cliffhanger endings. I can’t even think about what’s going to happen next.

Tainted truths for me was about rebuilding the courts, broken friendships and finding family. The characters are growing and evolving in each book.

I felt really bad for some characters and had a yes finally” moment for two characters.

Nick and Aria are stronger than ever in this book. They are a force to be reckoned with and their bond is undeniable.
There’s world building and more magic in this one but it’s not to much it just blends into the plot. The pacing is great never dull.

The evolvement of this series has been phenomenal. With each book gripping harder, causing more emotional damage and fuelling my obsession in the best way possible

Absolute 5 ⭐️ rating no question with 🌶️🌶️ of spice. Emotional damage ♾️

I am absolutely breathless after finishing the epic finale. P. Carreira has crafted an unforgettable conclusion that is both heartbreaking and triumphant. The evolution of Aria's power and the high -stakes vampire and fae politics kept me on the edge of my seat until until the very last page. The world building is rich and immersive, and the emotional depth is incredible. It is a perfect culmination of female rage, ultimate power, and morally grey characters that will haunt me. Every lie is unraveled and every sacrifice feels heavy and earned. The obsessive romance and dark themes were handled with masterful suspense, leaving me with a profound sense of closure yet a deep longing for more. This is peak romantasy and i can't recommend this series enough to anyone who loves a dark fantasy world filled with high tension and a perfectly satisfying albeit bittersweet, resolution. A must read.

You have done it again!

I received this as an ARC, my 4th ARC from P. Carreira and again 5 bloody stars 🌟

I love how each book continues from the previous. This time we have found family, unexpected reunions, political plots and unexplained beings that bring a chill with what they are and used for.

Once again, the banter is bantering. Again, still in love with the MMC Nick. Still in love with the FMC Aria, she has grown so much from the timid victim to a powerhouse of strength.

Side characters, I keep loving Hadriel's sarcastic and witty humour the more and more I read him. He is the fun and protective brother I would want by my side when fighting the monsters that lurk in the night.

I don't want to give away spoilers in the event anyone has not read the series or the last book, but I have hunches and theories of what may become shockers.

Emotional damage ✔️
Spice ✔️
Violence ✔️
Mystery ✔️
Trauma ✔️
And so much more.

I don't know from where to begin. I fell in love with this book. But I'm not ready for whatever's about to happen next. I'm not ready enough! The shock after shock was constant and I was like hold your horses. What the hell? How? Why? Ugh!! Loved it!! This book now holds a special place in my heart, with chaos, calm and cataclysmic moments to that very last page, just best. That cliffhanger left me scared, I want the next book ASAP! In all honesty I wanted to live inside the book! I'm not exaggerating!! I love character development in this entire series but one character who stayed consistent was Hadriel until...and that was beautiful to watch (I hope Hadriel doesn't hear me) but it really was. *whispers* And the whole world building left me in awe! It was easy to follow and the flow was just perfect!

ARC - I love this series, it definitely has been one of them ones that you just jump straight back in when the new one comes out.

This is book 4 and the main characters are fully solidified so you know who they are and what they are like but they are still growing and you get to see that. Relationships and bonds are formed, found family is made and new kingdoms are developing.

There's still the betrayal sub plot threading through which makes you wanna think of your own theories of what is going to happen and as always the end is left open ready for the next book.

If you will royal court intrigue, vampires, Fae, meddling royalty, found family, magical systems, world on the brink of war and sarcasm then you might like this book .

The Hollow Blood Series has become one of my all-time favorite dark fantasy romance series. This is the fourth installment and it had me hooked from the very first page. I did not want to put it down. Somehow, each book just keeps getting better than the last!

I loved seeing Aria and Nick's growth and how they're truly each other's ride or die. The banter between all of the characters had me laughing, and I was so happy to see certain characters finally get their happily ever after.

Nick once again proves why he's one of my favorite Shadow Daddies. I loved the scene where he walked into the enemy camp alone after finding out they were after Aria. This man is literally the definition of "touch her and die," and every time he goes feral over her, I'm over here fanning myself... which has me wondering if maybe it's time for therapy. 😂

As always, P. leaves us with another cliffhanger, and not all of my questions were answered. Needless to say, I'm already counting down until the next book.

I highly recommend this series if you love dark fantasy romance with fae, vampires, emotional trauma, witty banter, and major "touch her and die" energy.

Tainted Truths by P. CARREIRA

Another great installment in the Hollow Blood series. The pacing is a little slower in this book. There's Lots of character development and redemption ARCs going on.

We get some Hadriel POV in this book which I am soo here for ( He's my fave character in the series)

And that fuck it moment, I was girly kicking and screaming.

Theres some really great attention to detail in the building of the new courts on and another jaw dropping cliff hanger!

For fans of feminine rage, vampires , spice and morally grey characters 🩶

If you love:

- Brother's Best Friend
- Slow burn❤️‍🔥
- Frenemies to lovers
- Who did this to you
- F*** it moment
- Vampires 🩸

This book answers questions I didn’t even know I should be asking. Details that once seemed insignificant suddenly take on a completely different meaning, and seeing past choices through a new perspective was incredibly satisfying.

The story keeps expanding as more truths come to light, making it clear that what’s happening now has been set in motion for far longer than anyone realized. Every revelation raises the stakes without losing the emotional focus on the characters.

By the final pages, the path ahead feels anything but simple. Old wounds, new realities, and the looming threat of what’s to come made it impossible not to want to dive straight into book five.

Thank you P for the arc copy ! All thoughts are my own

Tainted Truths is the fourth book in the Hollow Blood series . And let me say it doesn’t disappoint. Packed with a ton of action , redemption and found family feels . Tainted Truths is darker than the first three in the series , and I totally ate it up.

I am loving Aria and Nick so much more as the story goes on . The banter between them is iconic , the touch me and die energy ? Next level .

This series is seriously making its way up to my top favourite reads of the year , and for good reason . The way P writes keeps you engaged the whole time , always wondering what is going to happen next.

I absolutely love this series. This book is a continuation of the broken blood series so if you have read book one go read it first. The beginning of this book at me on the verge of tears finding out the biggest plot twist I've seen yet in this series. This book is the progress of rebuilding the courts, friends, and family coming back from "death". I absolutely adore Aria and Nicks bickering back and forth and the chemistry is everything. If you want a book with vampires, fae, touch her & die, found family, and magical systems then this book is for you. I highly recommend!

Tainted Truth by P. Carreira

🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸

Alright, here goes the Queen of Cliffhangers at it again!!! I’d lie and say I hate it, but it makes for such a good setup for the next book, because what was that note?

As for the rest of the Hollow Blood series, this book focused heavily on establishing a lot of lore and drama to connect everyone, making them all affected and questioning everything at every turn.
I loved seeing more side characters shine brighter. I was excited to explore the new mother/ daughte relationship, but was more excited for the sibling dynamic to be reintroduced.
I love both courts. I’m so ready to see what some in-laws have been up to because I’m sure we all have many questions.

Sorely disappointed ....

That I have to wait until the next two books are released. I need them now! I finished all the books in this series so far and the character development is off the charts! I am hoping we get to see more of Callie soon. I don't feel like we are done with her yet. I do feel the book ended a bit too soon dropping that bombshell and then making me wait. Honestly I'm going to read anything I can get my hands on by this author. Her writing is truly captivating!

This series has me in such a chokehold. The constant back and forth banter. The unseriousness in the most serious moments. The twist and turns every time you turn around and all of the cliffhangers!
This one had yearning and tension amongst other characters that made my heart so happy. Suspicions amongst family/friends. Betrayals. Redeemable characters that I wasn’t sure would be able to be redeemed and yet they were. 10/10 experience!

P continues to give us what she promised, trauma and emotions! The beginning of this book had me in tears. Tainted Truths follows both Aria and Nick from the first three books in The Hollow Blood series as they grow and boy do they! There is a lot of trauma, healing, dealing with the past, and a twist that leaves you speechless. I am already chomping at the bit to read the next book, I can't wait to see where Nick and Aria take us next and what hurdles they will face.

I cannot even with this whole series!! I cruised through all of these books in a week! All the found powers, family betrayal, found family, somewhat enemies to lovers, bonded mates, so many trials. This book did not disappoint! I absolutely could not stop reading! Book four for me was the best of them. So much happened and so much was revealed! How could one person handle all the trials and tribulations that Aria and Nick went through and still come out smiling! Love it!!

@p.carreira This book is well written. I love the way the story line keeps going. It’s not like other series where it’s same characters but different story line it keeps going telling the same story and extending it. The characters are well rounded and change as the story continues. The foreshadowing of romance is spot on.

This series is driving me crazy, but in the best way possible. Just when I think the "happily ever after" is finally coming, the author drops more revelations, mysteries, and enemies, and my heart just can't take it.
I loved every single moment between Aria and Nick, as well as Audrey and Hadriel's POVs. We also get a new female character that I already love 👀👀.
I've said it before and I'll keep saying it: Hadriel is my favorite, he is simply amazing.
This book, just like the others, ends on a cliffhanger. I can't wait for the next one!

This was an action packed installment in this six part series. The growth these characters experience in this book is beautiful. They’re trying different things, figuring out what works for them, what works for their core people, and what works for their world. There are wins and losses, and being able to watch it all unfold made me feel like I was a part of it. Their mistakes felt like my mistakes, and their victories felt like mine too.
Out of all six books, I’d say this one was the spiciest and I loved every damn minute of it.
