You know what's embarrassing?

Chasing your dog down the street wearing nothing but a bath towel.

You know what's worse?

Chasing after him into the backyard of the firefighter you’ve had a crush on since highschool, who just moved in across the street.

Now I'm standing barefoot in the grass, soaking wet with a towel wrapped around my body, trying to grab my dog who is running in circles like we're playing tag.

Suddenly, the back door opens and he's standing there in nothing but sweatpants, trying very hard not to laugh.

My hair towel chose that exact moment to unravel and fall on the ground.

I wanted to die.

He whistled once, and my dog ran straight to him and dropped my bra at his feet like a gift.

He picked it up off the ground, then he hands me a towel and says,

"I figured his owner would show up eventually. But I didn't expect you."

Astrid has just gone through a bad marriage and is finally divorced. She moves to her parent's house and starts over in her hometown, planning to open up a vet practice and stay single. Of course, a few weeks in she sees her high school crush and it is the beginning of the end of her single live. Easton is a firefighter that has moved back home 18 months ago to help his ill grandmother. After she passes away, he continues to stay.

There is so much that is super sweet in this story. It is definitely slow burn and their relationship slowly unfolds. It is not closed door but it is not overly explicit either.

The author does have a very unique writing style. It is almost like she is "stating" everything. I do like how she describes a lot of the small details. I do wish there had been more details. For instance there are just vague details provided on her previous marriage. There are also just some things I thought was strange - for instance her she moves into her parent's house where they have not lived for 4 years. I am just not sure why they kept the house that long? and it was empty for 4 years? It is just unusual. There were just a few items that I wish would have been further explained or just left out of the story.

Overall a good story but not my personal preferred writing style. I might try one more though as the next is a troupe I really enjoy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ (4/5)

Breaking was a fast-paced, addictive romance that pulled me in right from the opening scene. The intense confrontation with the ex immediately set the tone, and Easton stepping in as the protective firefighter neighbor delivered exactly the kind of possessive energy romance readers love.

Easton was easily the highlight of the story. He’s protective without being cold, confident without trying too hard, and his chemistry with the heroine felt strong from the beginning. The “she’s mine” moment was definitely swoon-worthy and set up the romance perfectly. The pacing moved quickly, which worked well for the suspenseful atmosphere and emotional tension.

The story leans heavily into dramatic romance tropes, so some moments felt a little over-the-top, but it matched the tone of the book and made it entertaining. The steam, protective hero vibes, and emotional stakes kept the pages turning.

A fun, steamy firefighter romance with high tension, strong chemistry, and plenty of protective hero moments that make it hard to put down.

Beautiful In Its Simplicity

A beautiful romance, made to look as easy as breathing. A quick read it tells the budding romance between Astrid a divorcée returning to her home town to open a veterinary practice and Easton Ford a firefighter who came back from the city to look after his ailing grandmother.

Astrid had a huge crush on Easton Ford when she was 15, that feels like a lifetime ago but not at the same time, she should probably say hello right?

Easton has been muddling around his grandmother’s house for the last 18 months since she died, now he’s looking after her dog and trying to pack. A random dog keeps coming to visit him and Penny (his gran’s dog), one afternoon there’s an extra surprise. The dog gifts him a woman’s bra and the owner of both the bra and the dog is suddenly right there in nothing more than a towel. As these things go it’s an impressive icebreaker.

disappointed is an understatement

I wanted to like this. I really did. I think the story would be great, but I got to say the writing was just terrible. I don’t think I’ve ever read such bad writing. The dialog of characters was so weird, one word answers, so awkward. I hate reading books that I can’t wait to have it end, but I hate starting and stopping a book. I can read a book like this quickly and it dragged so bad I struggled to finish, I just stated skimming the end to get on with it. I am just so confused why the characters talked how they did, with literally no details, no story, no conversation. In chapters it felt like it was being reviewed and repeated, it was horrible. Zero stars honestly, not recommending.

So the story was a good story….that being said there were so many things that were repeated in the book that I wanted to scream. I get why the author did it but I hated it. Telling me about the brass lamp 5 times in the book was not needed. The story read too slow. I felt like it drug on forever and for the page count in the book it should not have felt like that.

The story itself was a beautiful story. The dogs-loved them. The characters-loved them. The love story between the MC’s-loved it.

Even I can't quite believe how much I loved this book!!!!!***** Racing to the next one!

I literally fell into this story and didn't want to leave! The phrasing and passages were so much like what spins between my heart and my head. I've never felt so included in a story, so wrapped up in characters' lives and thoughts. So many moments I have shared, felt, and struggled to survive. This is precisely what I needed and will always look for in a book. So beautifully done!!!!!*****

This was such a great story and a perfect quick read! It hooked me from the beginning, and I finished it much faster than I expected. The pacing was just right, the characters kept me invested, and the story never felt rushed despite being a shorter read. Sometimes you just need a book that’s entertaining from start to finish, and this one definitely delivered. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it if you’re looking for a fast, satisfying read.

beautiful story

I keep starting Hannah Sparks reviews that way! I can’t help
It. This is another beautiful love story that hits just right. You will be invested in these characters so deeply you can’t let go. Give yourself time to read this book because you’ll want to read it through. I’m scared of the day I run out of Hannah Sparks books to read.

Think I found my favorite romance author

Hannah writes in a unique way! You feel like you’re in the story. Her stories are an experience you’ll want to read in one setting. Sometimes you will laugh, sometimes cry, but you will Always feel the love between the 2 main characters.

My gauge is great first chapter MFC & MMC characters that make you want to read cover to cover in one sitting & not hit return to amazon until "the end".
