I love me a little dark rockstar romance. With a beginning so spicy, you’ll thirst for more… but like seriously, how hot was that opening? A great way to capture the readers attention from the start with a spicy plot to keep you engaged until the end. Solace is a mmf romance book that centers on addiction, relationships, and heartaches of feeling like actions ruined something strongly built.

*spoilers*
During a party, Bunny, Marlowe, and Dexter have a little three-way action in the bedroom after a night of drinking. But the communication between them diminishes after, causing Marlowe to overthink that maybe it had been a bad idea. Well, they sort of all start to overthink the event in their own way.

By the time the next party comes around, we take in how Dexter wants to reconnect with Marlowe but can’t find the words. Marlowe is too hesitant to express herself towards them and has been busy working extra shifts. And Bunny has been self-medicating with pills to the point where he has blacked out and woken up in weird places that aren’t home.

See, this trio has feelings for each other. Emotional ties between each other beyond the bedroom… but neither of them can admit it. At least not out loud towards one another. And the more Bunny refuses to acknowledge it, the more he allows his addiction to overpower him. Sending Marlowe and Dexter to worry about his well-being for the sake of their band Solace playing in a battle of the bands.

As the battle approaches, Bunny starts deteriorating through his addictions, causing tensions between Marlowe and Nicki, the girl who’s been supplying him. It’ll have to be up to Marlowe and Dexter to get him back on track before the battle if they want a chance to play at Thrash Fest in this seductive rockstar romance you will not be able to put down.

I’m still not sure about the onion and olive pizza though.

🖤𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓻𝓪𝓵𝓵🖤
The spice was heavy. The characters were likable. I loved the subtle references towards Bunny’s past and while he was drowning his sorrows in a baggie full of pills. It made a lot of sense but I also didn’t like that he resorted back to them towards the end. The dynamic between all three was present from the start and did not let up until the end. Even the obstacles in their way couldn’t keep them apart from each other. Another banger from Hunter and I look forward to her next release.

THIS IS A DARK ROCKSTAR ROMANCE WITH THEMES OF ABUSE AND ADDICTION - READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS FIRST!

A rockstar romance with a dark twist, where the boyfriends are boyfriends and there's a fiery red head in the mix too.

This was an instant sign up to arc read for me, as soon as I saw the tropes and the character art, I was sold.
The story centres around the band Solace and our 3 MC's. Bunny - Solace Frontman with a traumatic past and terrible choice in coping mechanisms. Dexter - Solace Bassist, Bunny's best friend since they were kids but his feelings run a lot deeper, knows all Bunny's dark secrets and how to deal with them. And then there's Marlowe - Captain's Barmaid, Solace 'groupie', a feisty red head that life dealt a shitty hand to but she's stronger than she looks.

After a wild night together, everything changes. Bunny starts to spiral and only Dex and Marlowe can piece him back together again.

My god, these characters were everything.

Bunny is so hot but so broken and there were parts of the book that had me screaming at him to stop being an ass but also parts where I wanted to hold him and make the pain go away. His past deals with some pretty dark themes (READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS!) and you do understand why he tries to cope the way he does.

Dexter is my favourite to be honest. I am a sucker for a tall, dark haired rocker that's covered in tattoos. The look gives bad boy, but damn he has a heart of gold. The way he looks after Bunny and Marlowe is down right perfection. He knows Bunny is troubled and just wants to be there for him in every possible way.

Marlowe has been following the band since they started, helping them set up, going to practice and giving them feedback (essentially managing them without the official title) The flirty relationship she has with Bunny and Dexter only blossoms after she willingly plays the part to keep Nicki (vile drug pushing skank) away from Bunny. I loved her vulnerability and the way she was at war with her own feelings after that night but when she finally said fuck it and called the boys out on the situation, it turns into the most beautiful spicy romance with two very hot, very protective men and she realises she can actually be happy with her found family.

I feel like the characters all seem to rescue each other in a way, Bunny's dark past brings him closer to Dexter, Marlowe needs to get out of her current situation and Bunny and Dex are there to offer her a safe haven. It just all falls into place so well and I am a huge fan of a found family trope.

The spice is hot and heavy from the very beginning and I love that there is a mix of pure filthy passion and tenderness when it comes to the three of them together.

Absolutely would recommend this book to anyone that likes a more contemporary dark romance and hot af rockstars

Solace is a dark romance that follows Marlowe, a groupie, and band members Bunny and Dexter after a one-night stand changes the course of all of their lives. As the story unfolds, we watch their relationships evolve while each of them faces difficult circumstances and personal struggles.

This book explores several heavy topics, particularly through Bunny's journey with substance abuse and dealing with past trauma, which adds an emotional layer to the story and shows how those struggles affect not only him but the people around him.

The writing was easy to read, and at just over 200 pages, I found myself moving through it quickly once I sat down and focused on it. While I appreciated the writing style, the darker themes, and the chemistry between the characters. I never quite formed a strong connection with the characters in this book. Because of that, I found it difficult to become fully invested in their emotional journeys.

Overall, I feel like this came down to personal preference rather than quality. While it wasn't the right book for me, readers who enjoy dark romance with complex characters, rockstar romance, spice, and heavy subjects may have a different experience.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I look forward to reading more of her work.

I received an ARC of Solace by Aimee Jo Hunter in exchange for an honest review.

Solace is a dark rockstar romance that surprised me in more ways than I expected. What starts with a one night stand quickly grows into something much deeper, following Marlowe, Bunny, and Dexter as they navigate complicated emotions and there personal demons.
I appreciate how the emotional moments balanced the steam, making their connection feel genuine rather than just physical. The chemistry between the three of them was undeniable, and the spicy scenes definitely delivered.

This isn't a light read, though. The book explores difficult topics, including addiction and abuse, so I highly recommend checking the trigger warnings before diving in. While those themes are handled throughout the story, they add weight to the characters journeys and make their growth feel earned.
The pacing kept me turning the pages, and I found myself invested into the story. If you enjoy dark romance, rockstar settings, MMF relationship, emotional healing, and plenty of spice, Solace is worth adding to your TBR.

I really wanted to like this book. The blurb and tropes sounded great and something I usually enjoy, but unfortunately I couldn’t get into the story and didn’t connect with the characters.

The prologue was promising, but after that the book unfortunately lost me. I’ve read other books from the author before and I’ve enjoyed those, and this one wasn’t a bad book either, just not for me personally.

I personally found the writing style to be quite choppy at times (for example “Dexter fucked me, and I fucked Marlowe until we all came.”) instead of something that flows naturally. Yes, I read the ARC version and I haven’t read the published version so I can’t say if there was some editing done after the ARCs. Also, the choppiness and text not flowing are just my personal opinions.

Thank you, author Aimee-Jo Hunter for the eARC! Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.

Solace was such a good read. I really enjoyed it, plus it is a shorter read so it's perfect if you are looking for an in between read! Solace is a dark Rockstar romance and tells the story of Bunny who battles with substance abuse and some confusing feelings he has for his best friend Dexter and their band assistant Marlowe.

I love Dex, Marlowe, and Bunny. And of course we can't forget about Marlowe's loyal dog, Dojo. I love how much Dex loves Dojo, that's definitely me with my friends dogs. I also really liked Bunny and Dex's bandmates Chris and Rich, and Marlowe's best friend, Naomi. A very nice lil group of friends.

This story made me very emotional. There were times I just wanted to shake some sense into Bunny but I know that what he was going through with the substance abuse and the traumas from when he was younger are not easy things to deal with. In the end, I was very proud of this sweet baby.

ARC Reciew of Solace by Aimee Jo-Hunter

This story was beautifully written and very fast paced. The book is told from the POVs of Dexter, Bunny and Marlowe, it touches on some very sensitive subjects (drug abuse, domestic violence). The love story between Dexter, Bunny and Marlowe is very sweet and the spice in this book was top-notch! 🌶️🌶️🌶️

The ending felt a little bit rushed and felt like it left some things open to the reader’s interpretation. If your looking for a fast-paced why choose read this is the book for you!

Rock + MMF!

Super fast paced story. Dexter and Bunny are in a local band and best friends since childhood.

Marlowe works as a bartender at the bar/club the band plays at sometimes even looks in on their practices.

After a party at the guys place Marlowe finds herself in a situation that is super hot with Dexter and Bunny.

A month or so later they aren’t really sure how to act around each other, but they definitely are enthusiastic about trying again!

There are some triggers-drug use,

These three had a sweet story. Super spicy all around a good read.

✨✨✨ARC review✨✨✨ Meet Dexter, Bunny & Marlowe. Dexter & Bunny are childhood friends, turned roommates to lovers & bandmates. Enter Marlowe: super fan of Dexter & Bunny’s band, Solace. This story explores found family, fantasy turned reality and “why choose” with an early 2000s grunge band scene backdrop while also exploring drug addition, abusive relationships & personal demons. Emotionally charged with red-hot steamy scenes peppered throughout. Loved this & hope to see more of these 3!

🖤 ARC Review 🖤

Solace is a dark rockstar romance. Please check triggers.

I’m going to be honest, the cover art is what sold me to sign up to the ARC (we love pink). That and the fact it’s a why choose 🥵

This book follows Bunny, Dexter and Marlowe, and is told in triple POV. It’s definitely a spicy time and I would 100% recommend.

4⭐️ just for the fact it felt a little rushed, but this is just due to it being quite a short book at just over 200 pages, but it is a great read!

Fun, fast paced, and HOT - my kind of summer read.

Bunny is heartbreaking, so much trauma and self-hatred. He is constantly on a path of self-destruction and doesn't feel worthy of love. Dexter is sweet and caring. The calm in the storm. Marlowe is super independent. I kind of love that she is not the main character.

While they are in a band and that is underlying throughout, this focuses more on Bunny learning to accept love.

Once again, Aimee-Jo Hunter has managed to write such an emotional, heavy, and wonderful story in a novella.

Bunny, Dexter, and Marlowe are the perfect throuple and I loved seeing how they took care of one another and helped each other to grow.

The spice is absolutely spicing, and it was balanced nicely with the story.

This handles some heavy topics, so please check the triggers. If those are ok, I highly recommend this one!

I also cannot recommend Hunter's writing enough!

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an ARC.
