A fantasy romance that completely stole my heart!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars

From the very first chapter, Vallenna Rises captivated me, and from that moment I couldn't stop reading.

Hayley Fulcher has created an immersive world filled with elemental magic, rich lore and beautifully crafted houses that feel alive. The world-building is detailed without ever feeling overwhelming, making it incredibly easy to lose yourself within its pages.

But what truly made this story unforgettable were the characters.

I didn't just read Kara and Sebastian's journey—I lived it with them. Every difficult decision, every heartbreaking sacrifice, every moment of hope, fear, trust and love felt incredibly real. Their relationship develops so naturally that I found myself rooting for them from beginning to end.

The emotional depth of this book is extraordinary. I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I created theories, celebrated when I was close to being right, and still found myself shocked by twists I never saw coming. There were chapters that left me with goosebumps, chapters that broke my heart, and by the final stretch I was sitting in my garden in tears because I simply wasn't prepared for the emotional impact. Even thinking back on those moments still makes me emotional.

The romance is one of the most beautifully written I've read. It's full of longing, acceptance, sacrifice and hope. The concept of Soulbonding was absolutely stunning and became one of my favourite parts of the story. Some of the quotes from this book will stay with me long after turning the final page.

I also loved how perfectly balanced the story was. Alongside the romance, there are tactical missions, political intrigue, mystery, betrayal, forbidden love, found family, incredible character growth and an ending that had me completely emotionally invested. The pacing never slowed, and every chapter left me desperate to know what happened next.

By the end of the book, I realised this hadn't just been a story I'd enjoyed—it had been a journey I'd experienced alongside the characters. Leaving Vallenna behind will be genuinely difficult.

If you love fantasy romance with incredible world-building, elemental magic, unforgettable characters, emotional depth, slow-burn romance, found family, breathtaking quotes and plot twists that keep you guessing, then Vallenna Rises deserves a place on your bookshelf.

Hayley Fulcher hasn't just written a fantasy romance—she's created a world I never wanted to leave.

Two households both alike in dignity in fair Vallenna we set out scene…

House Hale, healers who are sworn to do no harm and whose creed is ‘To be Hale is to be whole, to heal what is broken.’

House Thorne, warriors who are sworn to protect the kingdom and whose creed is ‘For peace we sacrifice, through blood we stand.’

Two houses that are polar opposites. A house of peace and a house of violent. So it’s not surprising that well known and accepted that Hales and Thrones don’t mix.

BUT

When Kara, heir to house Hale meets Sebastian, heir to house Thorne doubts start to surface. At first she thinks him arrogant, brutish and is living up to his house reputation and then Kara sees something hiding beneath and when he is declared a traitor she wonders if everything is clear, cut and simple as people seem to think.

We have trials, magic, prophecy, slow burn romance with a chilling threat on the horizon.

Vallenna Rises is a sweeping fantasy adventure that had me smiling, kicking my feet and growling and wanting to slap sense into people. Oh and I might have shed a few tears…. Okay a bit more than a few.

I was captivated and couldn’t put this book down and I can’t wait to see where this adventure takes us next!

If you love fated mates, "touch her and you die", slow-burn romance, and epic magical battles, you need to read Vallenna Rises!

I absolutely loved escaping into the world of Vallenna. It's vividly brought to life, with an intriguing magic system centred around the four Arcanth Shards. The author gives you just enough to understand how the magic works while keeping it mysterious and not overwhelming you with lore. Now I desperately need to know more and can't wait to see how it all unfolds in the rest of the series.

The Draknor are genuinely terrifying and kept me anxiously turning the pages. But really driving it all is a heartfelt romance that had me hooked and kicking my feet. Kara and Sebastien were such enjoyable characters to follow - their chemistry, the slow-burn tension and the emotional payoff all felt earned, making it incredibly satisfying.

For fans of Fourth Wing and Sarah J Maas, but also with enough plot, danger and a satisfying magic system for fans of Lord of The Rings and Brandon Sanderson, which I also love.

I finished Vallenna Rises wanting more—in the best possible way. Already counting down to book two because I need to know more about the Draknor, the other Arcanth magics, and see what's next for Kara and Sebastien.

Hayley has created a beautiful fantasy romance, that I have loved every chapter of. The beginning was done amazing, a wonderful way to introduce the characters and their strengths and personalities. It has a wonderful world building and magic system that is easy to follow. Loved the healer and the warrior duo and the battles of their duty and what they want. Thoughout this book it had me giggling like a girl, to wondering how it is going to be alright again, to crying with sadness and then happy tears. The phrase I will burn the world is so true for the characters and  many moments you feel it from both.

If your into yearning, romance that won't be stopped, fighting against everything for what you believe in and a book you what want to end, then this is your next read.

What a whirlwind of emotions!
Vallenna Rises follows Kara and Sebastian- enemies, alliances to their own houses who are bound by family duties.
This book has everything a fantasy book needs and more. Enemy to lovers, magic and mayhem and rebellion! The magic system brought my imagination to life and the details of the enemy kept me on my toes. The author's talent at bringing the plot and characters to life was wonderful.
I felt every emotion and it brought a beautiful journey of fear, growth, bravery, determination and stopping at nothing in the name of love. I was invested and hooked from the beginning.
I almost dropped my kindle with the cliffhangers and plot development. A few shocking twists and surprises.

A book that gives me all of those feels is absolutely deserving of 5 stars!

Having not read a book for many years, I was encouraged to read this and definitely do not regret it!

The beginning 10 chapters or so reminded me of another magical world we were all aware of say 20 years ago, with teams facing tasks in a bid to win points for their house. I was quite taken in by this as the familiarity resonated with me, but really it was just a way for Kara and Sebastian to meet and to set the scene for where their lives would take them next.

What follows on is a story of complete loyalty and trust, without too many spoilers Kara essentially breaking every rule in the land to stand by the man she loves. The good and powerful magic wins out in the end, the final 6-8 chapters bring it all together in a way I wasn't expecting at all, but found very emotional. Nice little dangler at the end there for book number two as well!

I don't want to give too much away - buy the book and find out for yourselves!

I have just read this book from cover to cover. Was very surprised at the depth of detail, and how readable it is. The two main characters Sebastian and Kara are very engaging, but several other characters for me hit the spot too. Book takes off at the trials, then you find yourself just wanting to read more.
There are some surprises too, which caught me out along the way, but that is what makes a good book.
This is the first review of a book I've ever done, so didn't want to put any spoilers in.
Can't wait to read book 2, and see what the future holds for Vallenna. Thoroughly recommend !!

I absolutely loved this book and truly could not put it down.

From the very first pages, I was completely drawn into Kara’s world. Kara is such a compelling heroine and Sebastian Thorne?!? What a character. The tension between him and Kara is beautifully written. The longing and that irresistible feeling of two people being pulled together despite every reason they should stay apart is just delicious.

Definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves forbidden romance, trials and impossible choices.

I was fortunate enough to receive an early copy of this as a beta-reader.

This is a book that lets you lose yourself in its world. I would find myself having dreams that I was in Vallenna playing with magic.

I’m not usually someone who reads romantasy, with the closest thing to that genre before this book probably being The Song Of Achilles. If I’m being 100% honest, I expected this to not really be the kind of book I’d enjoy because of this, but I found myself being gladly wrong about this.

Looking forward to Book 2, and fingers crossed I can get an early copy of that too!

It was good but I lost my interest because it was unnecessarily very long.
