This installment really surprised me because it was neither as dark nor as spicy as I expected. Instead, it was far more emotionally charged, with a tension that had me aggressively flipping the metaphorical pages.

Saint Vale has its claws in me, and I am beyond ready for Adelina’s story!!

This romance had me constantly wondering whether they were going to kiss, fight, or do something considerably more unhinged.

Brooks and Daphne have years of history, anger, and feelings they’re both trying very hard to ignore, so watching them constantly clash while still being drawn to each other was SO good. I kept telling myself I’d read one more chapter and then somehow ended up flying through the book.

Brooks was absolutely unhinged when it came to Daphne, but I loved seeing the softer side of him that he kept hidden from everyone else. And Daphne? She could give him just as much attitude as he gave her, which made their dynamic so much fun. The jealousy, possessiveness, banter, and chemistry were all there, but I especially liked how their relationship slowly became more emotional and showed just how much they meant to each other.

I honestly wasn’t expecting this one to hit me as emotionally as it did. There were so many twists that had me questioning where the story was going, and the deeper we got into their history, the more invested I became.

I finished this with way too many feelings, a serious soft spot for these two, and absolutely no desire to leave the Saint Vale world anytime soon.

Disappointed. The h sleeps with a married professor and apparently the H is a manwhore. Ugh. Sounds like neither was celibate during the 2 year separation after they were intimate.

I liked this better than the first book, but I still wasn’t a fan.

Possible spoilers ahead

There’s OW/OM drama. Both use other people to make each other jealous.

MMC and FMC were in a relationship 2 years prior to the start of the book. They’ve had smex. FMC planted a recording device in the president’s Oval Office (MMC’s dad) and 1 week later, an attempt was made on his life. MMC now hates and blames the FMC.

During their 2 years of separation- MMC is a mega manho and he’s also had previous Fawns (fk buddies)
FMC slept with a married professor.

When the book starts, it’s where MMC is basically having to make the FMC his fawn.

The fawn plotline is just wacky to me and it doesn’t make any sense. It’s even mentioned that there is absolutely no valid reason for these men to pick fawns anymore.

Then…to make this even more complicated, the FMC is a princess. 🙇‍♀️ idk this was just all so very strange. AND she is also BFF with the MMC’s sister.

Thankfully, this MMC wasn’t as bad as the first one, but he’s still awful. It was clear he had strong feelings for the FMC.

There is a 3rd act breakup. This one confused me because the MMC found out the FMC planted that recording device in his dad’s office. Seriously, I thought he already knew that but I guess that’s just something the readers knew. (I blame it on me being sick for the last few days)

I felt it was resolved to quickly and neatly. He got over her betrayal instantly.

The spicy scenes couldn’t even save this plot.

I’m in freaking tears as I just finished reading this book and had to write the most emotionally driven review. I love Charity Ferrell and the Saint Vale series is just another addition to her long list of masterpieces, but she outdid herself with this one. This book has like a thousand crazy plot twists, the most unhinged characters and a super emotional and forbidden romance. Unlike Enzo from book 1, Brooks is not mafia but is the “perfect” son of the fictional President of the US. But rest assured he is just as unhinged as his best friend. You don’t need to read the first book to read this one but I highly recommend it to better understand Saint Vale, their cult and the whole deal with the “sons” getting “Fawns” as basically their personal sex buddy every year. Brooks and Daphne had crazy tension from the start because her dad shot at his and from then on they’ve tried to hate each other. But really the only thing that hate is how they can’t get rid of their feelings for each other. Now Brooks may be able to kill someone without blinking but he is secretly a whipped puppy for Daphne. He does some crazy stuff in trying to convince others (but mostly himself) that he hates her but the way he got possessive when another “Son” wanted to claim her spoke for itself. He’s also a secret romantic because there’s so much about him beneath the surface that only Daphne and us lucky readers get to see. Now them screwing in the White House may have started all the chaos but their relationship goes way back and when the true depth of their feelings for each other are revealed I guarantee you will cry. Both of them have to act perfect, with Daphne being a literal island princess and Brooks being the presidents son, but when their love for each other starts to overpower their duties…well drama is sure to happen. There are so many surprises and twists that I would never have seen coming. Charity Ferrell totally perfected this plot and made another two characters that will hold a piece of my heart. I love Brooks and Daphne and gosh their book was heartbreaking, unhinged, damn smutty, and so worth the read. I give this a 5/5

Please read book 1! You get introduced to our two main characters. And my gosh, the introduction to our male main character... You really see him and get kinda prepared for him. He is... wild? Crazy? Needs some therapy? All of the above!

Brooks has been obsessed with Daphne for years. His little sisters best friend. The girl who's father planned the assassination attempt on his father. Becuase his father? The President.

Daphne is a princess who's kinda in the world of the Night Sons (the secret society Brooks belongs to). She's been on Brooks raidar for a long time. He loves to torture her because well... he has some very complicated feelings about her.

He wants her to be his Fawn and definitely doesn't want her to be anyone else's. When someone else makes inquiries about Daphne it really riles him up. He kinda goes even wilder.

Its a dark romance. There is murder, and more murder. Brooks and Daphne kinda/don't trust each other. Makes for some great back and forth between them. Brooks can turn it on and off. Its full of betrayal. I ate it up.

This series just keeps getting better and better with every book and I swear I’m getting more obsessed with each one! 🙌🏼

I was already so intrigued by Brooks and Daphne’s dynamic after the last book, but boy was I not ready for them! This was the enemies-to-lovers romance done SO well. They genuinely can’t stand each other, but at the same time they absolutely cannot survive without each other. The tension, the push and pull, the obsession, EVERYTHING was just so good.

Brooks was definitely not the MMC I expected him to be. He’s the polished, put-together president’s son, but when it came to Daphne? We got to see the most unhinged, obsessed, possessive and dominant side of him 😈

And Daphne?! That girl is a baddie! She might be my favorite bratty, feisty FMC ever. She was strong and unapologetic but still vulnerable when she needed to be and somehow managed to be the perfect princess while also giving Brooks a run for his money 👑

The plot, the writing, the chemistry, the obsession, the spice… I loved every single thing about this book. It had everything I want in a romance and then some!

AND the ending with Adelina?! 👀 I am so ready for it and cannot wait for the next one! ❤️

Son of the president and a princess now that’s an interesting match, well it does have a slight twist when her father attempted to remove his father permanently and since that day these two have been at odds.

Similar to Enzo Marchetti in book one Brooks is another walking red flag, however you could also say Daphne our FMC has her own red flags when it comes to Brooks but I think she would prefer pink if you asked her.

This book focuses on the Night Sons secret society similar to book one where each year a Night Son will take a Fawn which is more or less a chosen who will be protected by her Night Son but will also be at his mercy. But this book does deviate from the university itself and we find ourselves either in Washington or Calira Daphnes home.

After the events of the last book Enzo has made it clear that Brooks needs to take a fawn and not just any fawn, Daphne. These two are quite tangled up with history, from having a romantic relationship before the attempt her father made on removing the president to then becoming enemies, yet these two can’t stay away even if they are just giving out to one another. When the prime ministers of Calira’s son, Corey, makes a request for Daphne to be his fawn this really kicks Brooks into action. Honestly his mindset was that if he can’t have her no one will and he demonstrates this to Corey which is quite a tense moment.

Of course Brooks doesn’t need his father’s approval but he lets him know of his decision. His father is outraged but he accepts on the condition that he makes life hell for the chosen fawn due to the history.

After Daphne realises she has no other option than becoming Brooks fawn her mother gives her two options, fight or make him fall for her. This book really does give an insight to how broad the societies reach is outside of the university considering Daphne’s grandfather the king was also a night son. Even with Brook’s intensity he eventually caves and realises that he doesn’t believe he could give Daphne up after the year has passed, despite what might have transcribed between them in the past.

Similar to Blair in book one I like that Daphne likes to get even or one up on Brooks where she can but these men like to play dirty and there is no limit to their madness. The jealously and possessiveness in this book is unmatched. I would say some moments between these two are quite intense so be prepared for that.

There is a lot going on beneath the surface and I certainly didn’t expect the plot twist. There was one/two conversations that happened between various characters (that I will not give away due to plot twists) that I would have loved to seen in the book but that is only a minor critique.

The author has certainly lined up the next book in the series and it’s definitely going to be an interesting one to say the least and I cannot wait to dive back into this world in the near future.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the story of Brooks and Daphne. These two are not strangers to each other. They have had plenty of time to get to know each other and bicker and fight. But they also are both trying really hard to ignore how they are really feeling about each other. It is like watching two cats circle each other before they finally decide to attack. I don't even know how to review this book really, because there were so many twist and turns in it. It is really much more emotional than you expect it to be, and the characters are at times completely unhinged. Brooks is the son of the President of the United States. But that doesn't mean the man is pristine and perfect. I love every unhinged bone in his body. To make things every more interesting there was an assassination attempt on Brooks father and Daphne's dad was responsible for that. I do think that you need to read the first book before this one so that you understand the whole secret society and the notions of Fawns and how all that works or you could be a little lost as to what is going on at times. But don't fear. Heartless Devil is amazing too. This is a book that you do not want to miss. I loved every second of it.

Brooks Byron!!! This man is a walking, talking red flag, and apparently, I have absolutely no self preservation because I was OBSESSED! 😂

Brooks and Daphne were EVERYTHING! The history between these two, the betrayal, the resentment, and all those unresolved feelings?! The tension was absolutely INSANE!

Brooks is possessive, ruthless, controlling, and has revenge on his mind. But underneath all that anger is a man who never truly got over the girl who broke his heart. And Daphne? She’s no innocent little pushover either! I loved that she could hold her own against him.

The push and pull between these two was addictive! The secrets, the revenge, the jealousy, and the chemistry had me completely hooked. And don’t even get me started on the spice because GOOD LORD! 🥵🌶️

I absolutely love the dark, twisted world of Saint Vale and the Night Sons. Charity knows exactly how to deliver morally gray men, messy relationships, and enough drama to keep me glued to my Kindle!

If you love dark academia, secret societies, obsessive men, enemies to lovers, and a romance filled with delicious angst and scorching chemistry, THIS IS YOUR BOOK!

One of the other guys at school wants to make Daphne his Fawn but Brooks is not having it. He steps in and makes her his Fawn and puts them closely in each other’s orbit. The chemistry between them is still there and before they know it, they can’t keep their hands off each other. These two are very flawed characters and Brooks is most definitely morally gray. Somehow together they just seem to work.

Stop!!!! I am OBSESSED with this book. I literally inhaled this book in a day because I was hooked. Gone. It destroyed my reality haha

This is my first book by the author, and it defo won’t be my last.

Brooks is the president’s son, he has a reputation to uphold, but he’s also a ruthless member of a secret society. Then there’s Daphne. Best friend to his sister, and harbouring a secret, one she hopes Brooks never finds out. Brooks and Daphne despise each other after his father shot and Daphne’s father is the man behind it all. However, Brooks wants her has his fawn- a year contract, and Calira’s princess wants nothing to do with the man who hates her guts.

Sooooo much happens in this book. It was a rollercoaster of a plot and I LOVED it. Brooks was absolutely unhinged and he’s flying those red flags proudly. Daphne was not as unhinged as him, but she had her moments. I loved everything about her; she was funny, charming and absolutely fierce. Even though you know her secret is going to hurt Brooks, you can’t help but love her even more. I thought she was just brilliant.

As this is the second book, you don’t necessarily need to read the first. I didn’t, and I understood what was going on, but it didn’t give too much away about book 1’s MMCs: Enzo and Blair I literally have it downloaded as I need to delve into their story.

This is a mafia/secret society romance-there is some heat, there will be some bloodshed. You will love it, I promise.

Thank you to charity for giving me an advance copy of this book. Can I just say I have never read such an emotional roller coaster in any of her Mafia books but I was living for it.

Brooks and Daphne have my heart like I can so see this becoming a movie of their love story. Brooks was such a bad ass but also had such a big heart for Daphne while also delivering that killer mafia aspect as all her mafia men have. I loved how charity always connects the characters from past books into the next to keep them all connected.

I loved Daphnes big heart for Brooks and her friends and wanting to put them first was so cute. I love the happily ever after but the plot twist of brooks sister OMG I need her book ASAP.

I have always loved a good enemies-to-lovers romance, and Brooks and Daphne definitely gave me that! These two have so much history between them, and even with everything that happened in the past, I always felt like they were still right for each other. They may try to convince themselves that they hate each other, but the chemistry and the feelings between them say something completely different.

Brooks is another walking red flag, much like Enzo, and apparently that works for me in this series. He can be completely unhinged and ruthless, but when it comes to Daphne, you get to see another side of him. I loved how possessive he was over her, especially when someone else showed interest in making her his Fawn. For two people who supposedly can't stand each other, neither one of them is very good at staying away from the other.

I also really liked Daphne. She has no problem standing up to Brooks or giving it right back to him, which made their relationship even more entertaining to read. With their history, their families, and everything standing between them, there was plenty of drama, but I liked watching their relationship develop and seeing just how deep their feelings for each other really went.

And can we talk about the plot twists?! I love when a book actually catches me off guard, and this one definitely did. Just when I thought I knew what was happening, the story took a turn I wasn't expecting. The plot twist TWISTED, and I was here for it.

I enjoyed this book just as much as Enzo's story, which says a lot because I really enjoyed the first book. Between the enemies-to-lovers tension, possessiveness, spice, drama, secrets, and unexpected twists, this was another really good addition to the Saint Vale series. And after that ending, I'm definitely curious to see what happens next.

I was on edge from this roller coaster of red-hot tension, steamy heat, dangerous twists and turns, delicious darkness, and all the feels. From Prologue to Epilogue, this book is jaw-dropping, heart-stopping perfection.

Prepare to fall for this trifecta of enemies-to-lovers, best friend’s brother, and second chance romance with all the Romeo and Juliet vibes. But wait … there’s more! Add in delicious masked men in a secret society world in a gothic university setting. Always a YES.

I crushed so hard on sassy and stunning, Daphne, and intense, touch-her-and-unalive heartthrob hero, Brooks. The Princess and the Sinner. This hero and heroine are explosive together! Brooks and Daphne have such a deep history, combustible chemistry, complex pasts, and a path forged of love, hate, and fate. And their entertaining and electric banter and inner thoughts were my demise. Off the charts addictive. I was here for it all.

This is the 2nd book that I have read from this author and although I enjoyed the first one, I liked this one much better!

Brooks and Daphne have a really complex story, but the thing I loved most about this story is that Daphne is one of the first FMC's I've come across that has done some truly horrible things. She isn't portrayed as a ray of sunshine, helpless or vulnerable. She is actually in some ways, Brooks' equal! That's not to say she's completely heartless, she does struggle with some internal battles and her values/morals and that makes her more human/relatable.

Brooks equally is no angel, because he was truly unhinged (in the best way!), but who doesn't love an unhinged MMC who softens only for his FMC.

Character development throughout the story was ace. Things were complicated and we witnessed struggles but we also saw Brooks and Daphne fight for their love, and in the end, it was so worth it.

Welcome back to Saint Vale University!

Daphne has been at Saint Vale for a few years, but she has known some of the students since before going there for school. Her family is royalty and her father was in politics. Daphne’s father did the unthinkable and completely disgraced their family.

Brooks is the son of the President. He is at Saint Vale studying so that one day he can follow in his footsteps and become President as well. While at Saint Vale, Brooks is a part of the Night Sons, a secret society on campus.

Although there is bad blood between Daphne and Brooks because of what Daphne’s father did, Brooks still chooses Daphne as his Fawn. Being Brooks’ Fawn means she would belong to him for the rest of the year.

Would their differences keep their relationship strictly for the secret society, or will it blossom into something that neither of them can ever forget?

Heartless Sinner is a dark, secret society romance. You will love the twists and turns and will not know what is going to happen next!

When you think Brooks can’t possibly be as unhinged as Enzo - Charity Ferrell says “hold up”
The “president’s” son and the “princess” are a story that shows betrayal, love, trust and so much drama you will be on the edge of your seat in anticipation.
I loved Brooks and Daphne and after Heartless Devil I couldn’t wait to find out their backstories - who would have thought that these two had a history before her father tried to kill his father. The more details we learned, the more I couldn’t wait to find out more.
Daphne became Brooks’s fawn too, even though he wanted to hate her - he couldn’t. Their love story was not the fairytale our princess wanted but together these two realise life apart is not something they can do. He may not be part of a “mafia” family BUT Brooks is ruthless for everyone apart from Daphne - for her he’s a lap dog and I was here for it.
It was a welcome back to Saint Vale we all needed. I cannot wait to see who our next book is about!

Daphne and Brooks may have a complicated past and plenty of lingering feelings, but their chemistry and tension are absolutely undeniable.

Brooks has always been obsessed with Blaire, and he’ll stop at nothing to make her his Fawn. I absolutely loved his character, he can be incredibly sweet and caring one moment, then completely ruthless and unhinged the next. That combination makes him so much fun to read.

I especially loved seeing Brooks and Blaire’s relationship withstand past mistakes, secrets, complicated family dynamics, and everything else thrown their way, only to come out stronger on the other side. And the (unhinged) found family never disappoints! They continue to prove that, no matter what happens, they’ll always show up for each other and protect their own.

And that finale? It definitely has me excited, and impatient, for the next book!

Heartless Sinner ( Saint Vale Book 2 ) Well I really was just taken on the ride of my life and completely blown away in all the best ways . I mean we’re only on book 2 and I’m already completely obsessed and in love with this absolutely amazing series . I have to say after reading the first book , I genuinely did not think anything could possibly get any better . But Brooks and Daphne just may be my favorite couple yet . From the insane chemistry between them , to the angst and the banter . The darkness and the secrets , the hate to love . I seriously could not get enough of these two , on the edge of my seat and devouring every single word , smiling, laughing, yelling and crying. Without giving anything away , I’m just going to say . Settle in grab on tight and prepare yourself to be wowed . And most definitely prepare yourself for a very long night and reading. Because once you start residing- I’d be surprised if you are able to stop .

Arc review

This was my first time reading this author and I loved this book!

This one is definitely a strong enemies to lovers. The MMC is a bit ok largely on the psychological dark side especially when it comes to the MFC.

Dark academy secret society world where the men make the rules but the women are still strong as you know what. They have fight and bite.

I loved the power struggle between the two and banter. However, I loved the chemistry the most the side he only showed her.

I’m not going to lie I was frustrated with the hypocritical side when the truth comes out. After all the horrible things the sons do and then to judge and
act they way they did OY.

Over all I did love the book and the ending! I can’t wait to read the next one!

Daphne and Brooks are lovers to haters to lovers perfection! Heartless Sinner takes us back to Saint Vale and back into the secret society world of The Sons, Fawns, and Havens. Not only that but Brooks is the (fictional) president’s son, so a little dabble into the corruption of (fictional) politics as well.

Honestly, this one was such a good read in my opinion. Daphne and Brooks are truly in hate with each other. You can’t hate someone you don’t care about and these two are the proof. From a secret tryst with her best friend’s older brother, to betrayal, to becoming his Fawn no matter how badly she and he didn’t want that to happen. I liked that we got to see Daphne’s world as a princess and how it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be and that while Brooks has big goals for his future and present, Daphne consumed him in a way that she took reluctant priority over them.

I loved this book. I loved Daphne and Brooks figuring things out and I loved being back in the SVU world. I’m so excited for what Charity has planned next because it is teased in this book and I have my guesses. I have a feeling it’s going to a ride.

5 stars. I absolutely loved Heartless Sinner. Brooks and Daphne had exactly the kind of dynamic I want in a dark romance—history, obsession, tension, heartbreak, banter, and an FMC who actually gives the MMC as much as he gives her. Daphne had so much agency and backbone, and I loved that she never just folded under Brooks’s intensity; she challenged him, teased him, pushed back, and made their chemistry feel completely earned. Their love story had so much emotional weight because they had to overcome betrayal, family expectations, political pressure, and years of hurt while still being unable to stop loving each other. Brooks’s journey from being consumed by image and legacy to finally choosing the person he loved was one of my favorite parts, especially because his feelings were backed up by his actions. I DNF’d the first book in this series because that FMC wasn’t really my flavor, so I wasn’t expecting to fall this hard for this one, but Brooks and Daphne completely won me over. Their story was messy, intense, romantic, and so satisfying. Easily a five-star read for me.

This story was freaking fantastic! Seriously, Brooks and Daphne were on fire in every way imaginable. From their chemistry to their banter, every moment was a spark just waiting to be engulfed in a flame that was destined to burn down all their walls. The hate to love was strong in this one....so strong that I both loved and hated them, but that just made it even more phenomenal when the love came into play. Seriously, there wasn't a single aspect of this story I didn't absolutely love, unless you count the fact that I hated that it had to end!

Great read!!!! If you like your MMCs to be walking red flags, who are wholeheartedly obsessed with the woman they believe is theirs and a FMC with a backbone who likes the colour of his flag, then you’ll love Brooks and Daphne’s story.

Brooks hates Daphne because her father tried to get his father, the president, killed. Unfortunately Enzo forces him to claim Daphne as his Fawn once Cory enters his request for her.

Both act like they can't stand each other and Daphne doesn't want to be anyone's Fawn but nothing is ever easy.

There sure is some serious stuff going on in this story and I wish this book didn't leave me with so many questions.. Questions about Adelina as well as what happens with Brooks and Daphne.

Wow okay so I’ve been putting off this review, I’m still trying to exist with the fact I finished the book I’d been waiting on for months.

Back when I started the devil and his fawn ( AKA Heartless devil after it was renamed) I had already done some research on the characters and I had already known about brooks and Daphne and how they were. So even when I started the first book of the series I went in to read Brooks and Daphne not Enzo and Blair (sorry). And I was HOOKED from the start, I love enemies to lovers, rich x rich, tension and of course all in a dark romance book? Everything I could ask for

Daphne being a princess and brooks the presidents son, and not just your typical put together first son, but one with a dark side he didn’t let just anyone see. LOVED

Brooks and Daphne are on each others levels, they both come from political families, they’re both rich, both have to deal with the public and media and they come from similar worlds so they really get each other. I love how Brooks pointed that fact out how Daphne loved him for who he was and wasn’t interested in his money or status. This is why I liked that she wasn’t just a senators daughter but she was also a PRINCESS so she was on a similar level to Brooks and knew about that life being a royal.

Of course remembering the Son and Fawn system they technically weren’t on the same level. Still kinda annoyed Daphne was a whole princess and didn’t have her own wing on campus or even security provided for her as a PRINCESS 😭

Now for her initiation I was so excited since the first book after seeing Blair’s. I wondered wth could they possibly do for nonchalant Daphne who was so used to this world and already knew a lot about the sons and fawns and havens, spending so much time with them and having family members who were elder sons and her own mother having been a fawn.

This girl didn’t really seem like she had many weaknesses so I really wondered how would they “break” her since it did take them a while they even had to chase her with a whole car and chainsaws.. but it wasn’t until her tiara which omg had me STRESSED throughout the whole book 😓 I just knew there was no way that was the end for her tiara, that thing had been through so much in the book already lol. Which btw was one of my fav details her having to wear an actual tiara as princess (especially loved when she wore it to the White House). I also loved how Brooks said he took it from her because it was like having a piece of her omg 😭❤️

Now let me just say the part that actually broke her in the initiation being, having to choose her father or the weird ass teacher who put his hands on her, to die, AND her not being able to choose which one??? Didn’t like that at all. I mean I guess it just reveals what type of person Daphne is, but seriously… Daphne who in the first book was saying people like Jett or whoever it was, was fine dying cause they were horrible or something , couldn’t choose the weird student molesting teacher to be the one to die, instead of her own father?? I mean I know her father planned a whole assassination and kinda ruined her social life and relationship with Brooks because of it BUT STILL… it didn’t make much sense. Especially the fact we NEVER SEE DAPHNE INTERACTING WITH HER OWN FATHER THE WHOLE BOOK!!!! now WTF WAS THATTT?? That man is literally the whole reason we’re in this problem in the first place of brooks and Daphne not being able to be together and hating each other etc. But not ONCE do we see Daphne visit him, speak to him, NOTHING. (And in the first book she even mentioned her dad was trying to get in contact with her..)

Mind you in the first book he’s how she got most of her info and solved Blair’s whole mystery and found out the VP plotted the second assassination attempt. WHICH BTW.. WTF! In the first book even the first assassination attempt (the one daphnes father planned) ended up being pinned on the VP when President Byron lied to the public saying both were his fault to cover up the real incident.

Since Daphne also helped bring that info to light with the help of her father, Enzo had even mentioned how he should’ve deserved a pardon for that alone. So here I thought maybe the public and media would be less hostile about Daphne and the scandal but noooo. In this book there’s even what I’m assuming is a plot hole ?? Because WHY were they saying bc of Daphne and her father’s assassination attempt President Byron “got shot in the chest”???? That was literally the SECOND assassination attempt… doesn’t check out at all.

Then there was literally a scene where brooks was at the airport, the reporter asked about Daphne and he made a joke saying how if she was the shooter she wouldnt have missed how the shooter did?? Basically confirming the shooter had missed the first attempt. Really confused me, even I feel like I misread it but idk correct me if I’m wrong. If I reread I’ll go look for that again.

There’s a lot of others I wish we got to see Daphne interact with more. Definitely deserved more interactions with her mom, being the closest parent she had especially after the situation she went through… Ugh just remembered we didn’t get to see her final reaction to her and brooks together since she told her to make him fall in love or ruin him ( not exact quote) and the fact she had loved a Byron before aka brooks dad 🤯

Also would’ve loved to see Daphne interact with brooks mom more considering it was mentioned a lot how she was fond of her and President Byron couldn’t say anything about Daphne or her mom in front of her or she’d get mad. Really loved that so I cherished the one interaction with brooks and his mom where Daphne was the subject and she pointed out all the reasons how shit could go wrong for her if brooks wasn’t careful. Still not too sure why she was so fond of Daphne and her mom.. I mean they were fawns together, best friends and she even knew about the affair thing.. so I’m assuming that was most of it, and that being what she meant by telling brooks their families had a lot of “history” with each other?

Ok and the one interaction I’m really mad about is ADELINA…. WTF! That girl is her damn BEST FRIEND!!! And she’s gonna pop up maybe once or twice??? Oh I’m so mad. She was definitely not perceived as a best friend, they hardly interacted, hardly had any moments, ANYTHING!! If anything Adelina just felt like a random background character, which is even worse because this book was partly supposed to set her book up and it would’ve been the perfect chance because she was her BFF so that would’ve been super convenient. Sure there was the time where they went to lunch with friends, the time she asked her dad if she could go to calira, when she saw the bruises in the lair, when Daphne told her the truth about being brooks fawn and possibly loving him, (don’t even wanna mention) the White House scene that basically didn’t exist 🫣, (want to skip mentioning) their calira reunion, and then of course Adelina’s biggggg revelation at the end of the book 🙃 half of those scenes something was going bad so didn’t like that ofc. Felt like blair was more of her best friend… ofc she’s a fawn and her roommate but Adelina was said to be daphnes first ever friend in the states, her CHILDHOOD best friend.. and well we got whatever that was we got 🫩

Really hoping Charity at least shows Daphne being Adelina’s best friend in Adelina’s book. Since we didn’t get to see Adelina being Daphne best friend in this one. We were absolutely robbed 🫠 Now…. If some other random girl who’s eventually gonna get a book that we don’t know about yet, from the haven group ends up being Adelina’s closest friend…

Okay and last interactions that would’ve been cool is with her royal family, especially her grandparents, the damn KING AND QUEEN!!! 😖 all we saw is her get in trouble, we’ll heard about it, didn’t even see it smh. Also the rivalry with her cousin and the aunt stuff was kinda random, thought it would lead to more. But hopefully Daphne doesn’t give up her position and eventually becomes queen.

Love how brooks had said if she’s not the First Lady she can always be queen 🫠❤️ kinda sad we’ll prob never find out which happens but I’m confident both will happen. Regardless she’ll be queen after her mom steps down 🙃
Most of the book I was thinking brooks could just rule calira with Daphne as king and queen, loll forget the presidency and the media, gotta love that detail where no cameras were allowed in calira.

I loved every detail about calira, the laws, the protocols with the royals, the dress code, the tiaras & diamonds, the government / royal plane. Princess Daphne was everything im so happy we got to see her in her own country and that everyone else got to see her there too. Blair was so real for having her wedding there just for her maid of honor omg 😭❤️ (I hate to say it but that kinda bumped Adelina down on the BFF list, if ONLY they had spent more moments together 🫩)

Enough ranting now for the real stuff.

Brooks was really not what I expected at all. While he was an asshole at the beginning as expected, he really changed later in the book and never went back which I LOVED, I was honestly shocked. I couldn’t believe how much he cared about Daphne and how soft he was with her and only her. The fact she was the only one who could calm him down, as much as he fought Enzo on that saying it wasn’t true, he lost and admitted it himself it WAS true after he beat up Corey and looked for Daphne.
Which btw was my FAV scene, it was their first real vulnerable and intimate scene. They finally started to open up. As much as I like when the FMC comforts or takes care of a hurt MMC, Daphne standing her ground and not immediately folding was amazing 😂 this is another thing I really loved in the book, she was so stubborn but in a good way not an annoying bratty FMC way where it’s full on annoying and cringe. She also had a good amount of awareness and when to be serious. A scene I liked is when brooks called her DAPH which she took the hint of Oh shoot he’s being serious and stopped with the teasing.

Even in other situations she still was her self making her funny comments. She was kinda OD for that internal comment about Adelina’s period at the end of the book 💀 but typical Daphne thought/comment lmao

Anywayyy I loved how obsessed brooks was with Daphne, I could go on all day. The fact he would always think about her, and he even scrolled through their old messages just to remember those moments 🫠 that honestly had me teary eyed, they went through so much and them opening up even more that time in his room at the White House was just so emotional agh I loved it. Plus I’m glad we got to see how they met and basically how it all started. The face that THE Brooks Byron was SHY and NERVOUS around Princes Daphne Kenward was just so cute. He was literally the perfect balance , he was this strong powerful dude nobody can mess with but still is bashful brooksy (iykyk) around Daphne

I like how despite him opening up to her and full on letting go we still had those enemy moments where he just couldn’t get past the assassination plot. And for that reason I REALLY loved the slow burn in this book. Most slow burn books are HATE, then love in the last 10% and we barely get to see them happy together. For this one I love we got to see them
Hate each other in the first book, partially in this one too, then we got the reconciliation and love or close to love part and them enjoying each others company. And ofc we go to the hate part again but finally love again.

Speaking of the ending I felt it was a bit rushed , I mean it was good but everything just got crammed in and solved quick it feels like.. we didn’t even get to see brooks solving everything for Daphne to get back into the US. We know what he did but would’ve been better to see the scene it’s self of them going to calira and Daphne going back etc. plus the final scene was mainly putting the focus on Adelina’s incident too…

It would’ve been cool to see more of Daphne in public with brooks since she’s was basically shunned from society in other words, after what happened. Hopefully we can see them at White House events in the next book. Any cameos will be amazing plsss

Now for Daphne she was the best FMC by far I’ve read in a while. In this whole universe she has to be my #1, second is Neomi. It was nice to see her being mentioned in that one scene where Cedric came up :)

Daphne was a strong FMC, she was no where near a doormat. Ofc being a fawn she’s much lower ranked to a Son but that didn’t mean she was gonna bow down to brooks. Again going back to them being equals not only in being rich and those other things but the fact that they matched each others level of crazy, haha I remember brooks even mentioned that they were both red flags and what not. I’m glad whenever Daphne did challenge brooks he wasn’t a complete asshole forcing her to do anything, sure there were earlier moments but they were mostly on the same page later on. This was something I didn’t like about the first book with Enzo lolll so brooks was definitely refreshing.

Honesty this was one of those books where the characters take so long to get together I was so happy for even a kiss scene with them. Usually I hate when there’s a lot of sex scenes in books but for them I was honestly cheering for them and happy for them when they finally did lmaoo. Also the fact most of their sex scenes were so emotional omg. It wasnt just pure lust, after so much yearning and wanting each other but pretending to hate one another I was just really happy for them. Again I’m kinda surprised they didn’t go to the throne room like brooks had mentioned multiple times in the first chapters 😂 The Oval Office was already a pretty crazy place, the throne would’ve been even crazier 💀


This book really set the bar high for me for now.. I waited for this book for so long and I already had a perception of the characters and knew how’d they’d be so my theories and imagination ran wild for the longest time waiting to see what would become of them in there own book. I LOVEEEE books where the side characters get their own books and we get an idea of how they are and we even get teased with their li. And the fact they are both rich, and go to an elite private school is the icing of it all omg.

As much as I want to like Adelina’s book or any future books I’m not sure I’ll be able to get over Heartless sinner.. especially brooks and Daphne existing along with any future characters I just can’t 😭

Overtime I made a whole playlist to prepare for the book release, I reread their scenes in the first book and sometimes it was the last thing I thought about before bed, theories and imagining how they could be in their own book. Just thinking of them and what could be got me excited. Now that I read the book there’s no longer any theories or anything to look forward to so that’s kinda sad.. and the fact I won’t be able to read this for the first time again. But all in all I enjoyed it, the sleepless all nighters til 9am were horrible, unforgettable but not regrettable lol. I had to finish their book no matter what. I went as far as reading the whole free sample the day the book came out since I had to wait to get my own copy, I even reread the first 10 chapters again when I did get my own copy just to I could highlight.

Anyway, long ass book review, mostly for me and future me who rereads this.

Brooks Byron and Daphne Kenward, the best lovers to enemies to lovers I’ve read til now. Not sure how I’ll read another book after them without comparing 😮‍💨

My God, what a scene that was!! Brooks sets up cameras all over his room to watch Daphne, and on the night he’s watching her, he pleases himself whilst watching her touch herself, and in her final moments he hears Daphne scream his name. WHAT A SCENE!!

Brooks, once again because of Daphne, breaking the rules at Cory’s final ceremony and beating Cory to death, and Cedric taking Brooks to Daphne’s room to help him come to his senses. Because the only thing that can calm him down is Daphne… and when Daphne takes him into the shower, he shamelessly offers himself up to Daphne’s gaze, despite all his pain.

The fact that Daphne’s first boyfriend was Brooks, and that on their first night together she stole his underpants, and that once again, her habit she simply couldn’t give up was stealing Daphne’s underwear, and Daphne’s involuntary thoughts of other girls, and that shameless jealousy within her

I absolutely adore Daphne. She never holds back when Brooks is making her life a living hell, and she spreads rumours and gossip about every girl who catches Brooks’s eye, claiming that they’re even worse in bed than he is – though, of course, some of it is down to her own jealousy. -

Even though Brooks keeps pulling away, I love how, in every moment he spends with Daphne, he’s completely open with her about his feelings.

So, the legendary nature of Daphne’s ritual. She prepares herself according to what Blair and her mother have told her, but Brooks devises a plan for her that is far more difficult and painful—one in which everything has changed. He forces Daphne to choose between the deaths of two people, one of whom is her father. – But in reality, it’s all a complete lie (that is, the part about her father) – because he knows Daphne cannot make a choice and will kill the professor anyway, as he has done the very last thing he should ever have done in this life: he touched her Daphne and harmed her.

Whilst normally every Fawn only draws their own blood, Brooks once again broke the rules—just as he had done time and again for Daphne—and asked Daphne to cut herself, and simply because he had overheard his brother and Daphne once discussing lines such as the ‘heart’ and ‘life’, he cut Daphne precisely along the heart line and let his own blood flow from that line for Daphne’s sake – for although he might say it was all just a game and revenge, he was obsessed with the fact that Daphne was utterly devoted to him.

I absolutely love how well they know each other. They know their every step, every movement, and even the thoughts they don’t voice. The moment he first sees Daphne, he falls in love with her, and right up until his father’s assassination, he writes about Daphne constantly in his diary. The way he fell in love with her, the way he used his friend just so he could write to her, the way he was even captivated by their text messages – THE MAN
