I always struggle writing reviews when a book just isn’t quite for me because I know every story finds its readers ❤️
The rodeo setting felt really authentic and well researched, and as a small-town girl I really appreciated those details. Colton was definitely my favorite part of the book 🤠💕
For me, the romance felt a little rushed and a bit younger than I typically enjoy, so I had a harder time fully connecting with it. I kept wanting a bit more emotional depth and development.
That said, I did enjoy this more than the author’s previous book and can see growth in her writing. It’s also a clean romance with no spice.
Overall, this just wasn’t quite the perfect fit for me personally, but I can see it working well for readers who love fast-paced cowboy romances and a sweet, clean love story 📚✨
If you’re looking for a no spice cowboy romance this is the book for you! Colton and Allegra’s story was so heart warming. The way that Colton shows up for Allegra will have you feeling giddy.
Allegra has her life all planned out until she falls for the chaos, bareback rider. The chemistry between Allegra and Colton is seen from the first time they meet. I enjoyed this cowboy romance. Thank you to J.R Gale for the arc!
“You’re my ‘why.’ The rodeo gives me purpose, but you give me a reason to come home.”
The ride was everything, and he was more
Tropes:
🩵 Hurt FMC 🤠 Rodeo bareback rider MMC 🩵 Found Family 🤠 Closed Door 🩵 work place romance 🤠 heart warming
I WAS NOT EXPECTING TO LOVE THIS AS MUCH AS DID! For some reason I was thinking this was just gonna be a western romance, you know, the usual. BUT this was even better!! Ok ok.. a little story time, here. Once upon a time, I lived in the country on a little farm for the better part of my childhood with a horse of my own for a time; so I FELT SO AT HOME WHILE READING THIS BOOK. It gave me all the feelings and memories of my childhood and I just loved it so much!!! It truly touched the country roots of my heart.💗
The characters were so real. I truly wanted to meet everyone, especially the Nash family.☺️ I liked Allegra, too! I just wanted to give her a big hug for everything she went through. I loved how Colton brought out the real country girl in her. And PHEW MAN, Colton was…something. He was so swoony and the sweetest thanggg. Like oh my gosh.. taking care of her, and talking in that southern accent of his, and he was a perfect gentleman and THE BEST BRONC RIDER EVERRRRR! I loved his family and I laughed at all the banter… and one of my favorite parts in this book was when Colton jumped in the lake and the whole scenes after that 😍🤭
There was one thing that I had to dock a half star for and it was because the two main characters were sleeping in the same bed a lot near the end, not that they did anything, but my consciousness was a little bothered by that. Although, I’m so glad the author kept it clean with no scenes at all; which I’m so thankful for. This truly was such a great Country/Western Romance and I loved all the rodeo bits!

My Rating: 4.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
⚠️Age Recommendation: 16-17+⚠️

I adored Walnut Grove Cowboy, so the second I found out J.R. Gale had another cowboy romance coming, I was immediately sold.
And honestly? This book delivers everything I want from the genre.
Bareback rider Colton is pure chaos energy, while marketing genius Allegra is all calculated control, and watching their worlds collide was so much fun. From the very beginning, you’re pulled straight into both of their lives, and there are definitely a few edge-of-your-seat moments along the way.
What I really appreciated was that this story proves you do not need spice or open-door scenes to create chemistry. The emotional connection, the tension, and the way these two slowly find their footing together completely carried the story for me. (Also, makes you appreciate a good old make-out session!)
And Colton? Absolutely swoon-worthy. He has this quiet gentleman energy throughout the book that completely got me. The small moments, the consideration, the way he shows up for Allegra; it all felt incredibly genuine without ever trying too hard or just trying to tick book boyfriend boxes.
I also really loved how brave both Colton and Allegra were in their own ways. They each carried their own struggles, fears, and pressures, but neither of them stopped showing up and fighting for the life they wanted. That emotional resilience added another layer to the story and made me even more invested in their story!
One of my favourite parts was the found family element within the Nash family. Their dynamic added so much to the story, and reading about them genuinely made you want to be part of the family too.
If you love cowboy romance with emotions, found family dynamics, swoon-worthy moments, and characters that feel authentic from start to finish, this one is absolutely worth picking up.
Thank you to the author for an early copy. All opinions are my own.
Found family cowboy romance book without smut? My interest in was PEAKED!
First off JR has already improved so much since the last book I read of hers (Walnut Grove Cowboy)! I was pretty much immediately sucked in and invested with this story and these characters. (I love me a good found family troupe) She took more time to flesh out and get to know the FMC (Ally) before the MMC (Colton) was introduced. I loved how it was a clean romance book and included open prayer!
I noticed some phrases and/or sections of almost identical text were repeated once or twice when similar situations happened. It might’ve been a stylistic choice but it threw me off because I thought my kindle accidentally threw me back a couple chapters.
Otherwise I’ll say that I did really genuinely enjoy this book and have found myself wanting more from these characters/ the Nash family! It was cheesy but in all the best ways while still being original and unique!

allegra and colton’s story melted my heart!! it had all the things i love in a cowboy romance with no spice, and honestly, was kind of refreshing!
colton has been officially added to my list of fictional cowboy bfs and allegra’s story had me tearing up more than once! the nash family and their banter was also one of my favorite parts of the book.
unfortunately, the formatting really impacted my reading experience. i’m not sure if it was the file or an intentional style choice, but it felt like i was reading the story in bullet points rather than a fully developed narrative. i had a hard time immersing myself in the story because of this.
that being said, the heart of the story is was kept me invested and was definitely a part i enjoyed!

The story that forms between corporate city girl Allegra and rodeo cowboy Colton is heartfelt, fun and overcomes some heartbreaking life circumstances.
Life threw Allegra a curve ball when she was young, she took her circumstances and became the ultimate boss lady! At 24 she is offered the chance to become director of her department, just one thing stands in her way, a cross country trek to rodeos to help an agriculture company flourish! She leaves the city content with her life, in a relationship and ready to take on the next step.
Cue the cowboy and his family, the show Allegra what it’s like on the other side of the field and that the city life isn’t the only way to live.
This is a no spice, full yearning cowboy romance! Highly recommended for anyone that loves a good cowboy romance!
I love a romance book that makes it feel like the first romance you've ever read, and this one did exactly that. I was smiling, and laughing, and holding my breath the whole way through. Worth the Fall feels like a love letter to the south and I LOVE it. Allegra and Colton are very much opposites attract, but it doesn't feel overdone or cliche, their whole romance is very tasteful, flirty, and fun. Getting to know the Nash family was my favorite part of the book, it was such a wholesome and warm family dynamic. It gave this book so much heart. Allegra and Colton are adults and the kisses are descriptive, but I definitely feel like Worth the Fall is an amazing book for any mature reader that's looking for a sweet cowboy romance.
Rodeo? Check Found family? So cute. Drama-Rama for us llamas? Holla!
This book had me in my feels. I was rooting for them and was so invested I may or may not have become one with the couch, a very large iced coffee and a bag of white chocolate pretzels because I couldn't stop reading. It felt like Allegra was my friend and we were in this together.
I have gotten very used to dual pov from both the mmc and fmc. Usually if there isnt a couple mmc chapters im like waittttt I need to know. Not this time. Didnt even realize I was so caught up.
This is a definite add to list. I want to be an honorary Nash!

This one is tough to rate because I genuinely loved so much of it. The rodeo world felt authentic, the supporting characters completely stole my heart, and I was fully invested in the romance, even though the relationship moved a little quickly in the beginning.
Unfortunately, the last portion of the book took a turn that didn’t work for me. The conflict felt out of character, the resolution didn’t feel earned, and a few continuity issues in the epilogue pulled me out of the story. It honestly felt like a different book than the one I had been enjoying.
Even so, I’d absolutely read another story set in this world because the supporting cast and western atmosphere were wonderful.
This is my first book by this author and it was a very different cowboy romance book than what I’m use to . I can truly see that she took the time to really understand the concept of the small town cowboy romance . It was a steady pace read for me something very different from what I normally read. I can see that the author did an amazing job with portraying the couples and the bareback rider in this book was very well done . Colton and Allegra had a pure chemistry and I enjoyed this book.
I would possibly read another book from this author in the future. Thank you for allowing me to read this early I’m so thankful 😊🩷
I blew through this story about a woman with a past in rodeo, going back to the rodeo world for her work. The main character is one of those people who has her life planned out, and the rodeo brings some snags to her planned out life.
This. Book. Was. So. Incredible. I’m almost speechless… It was so hard for me to put this down and get anything done after starting it! The story was absolutely enthralling and didn’t let up until the very end. Wow…
✨ One Bed ✨ Rodeo Cowboy ✨ He Protects Her ✨ Yearning ✨ No Spice
This book is an absolute must read! I loved J.R’s writing style and the way she unfolded the story. The Main Characters were extremely easy to love! The deepness of their backstories broke my heart while also creating such a beautiful chemistry between them!
🌶️ No Spice, Just Kissing & Yearning 🤬 I don’t remember any language ‼️ Rodeo Accident, Death of Parent
I’m so excited for you to get your hands on a copy of this book! Another easy 5/5 read! 🤠
Just loved how cute this story was and how truly wholesome this couple was over all. If you’re looking for something to fall in love with definitely read this!
OH MY GOSH. This is my new favorite book. I will never stop talking about it!! If you want a book that’s going to live rent free in your mind forever, then this is it!! I’m a bit late on my review, my life has been crazy the last week🙃
Omg the chemistry between Colton and Allegra🤭 and the build up between them!! Colton is an angel, he is kind and patient and loving and everything Allegra didn’t know she needed 😭🥹 It was the sweetest thing to read and I’m so sad it’s over. I loved reading all about the rodeo, it was so fun and I felt like I was there. The bronc riding scenes had me speed reading, and there were so many suspenseful scenes that you couldn’t put down the book. This one pulled every emotion out of me, I was angry, giggling, sobbing!! All of the emotions with this one. I absolutely love the Nash family, and I love how welcoming they were to Ally. Dennis is the sweetest, his moments with Allegra are just heartwarming 🥹 I could go on and on and on about this book🤭
“I couldn’t deny it. I was falling for a rodeo cowboy. I was screwed.”
“Colton was everything to me. He felt like home, like a breath of fresh air, a light at the end of a tunnel. He was my everything, and I’d do whatever it took to be with him.”
I can’t wait to annotate this beautiful book because I am absolutely obsessed!! Thank you @j.r.galebooks for letting me arc read this amazing book😭🥹🫶🏻
Colton, a rodeo rider and Allegra, a woman moving up in the corporate world. Each thinking they know what they want in life until they meet each other. Forming a connection early in the story meant their romance grew quite quickly, but the rest of their story flowed well as they both worked through issues both in current time and from their pasts.
They both really bring out the best in each other, and I enjoyed their story as well as getting to know the side characters along the way. The Nash family members were all great additions to the story and how they took to Allegra and welcomed her in, and cared for her was sweet to see!
Cowboy romance is a fave genre for me and this one was such a great read!
