★★★★★! Hardline, book 3 of 5!

Books in Hacker series should be read in order:
Book 1: Hardwired
Book 2: Hardpressed
Book 3: Hardline
Book 4: Hard Limit
Book 5: Hard Love

I read the Hacker series book 1-5 while sick. I wish I had time to write reviews.

Harvard graduate Erica Hathaway’s whirlwind romance with former hacker and billionaire technology investor Blake Landon continues...

Seduction, secrets, lies, painful past, but above all awful villains… The perfect read for me. 6-star shelf.

This book was such a disappointment.

What happened to the sassy, independent business savvy Erica we met in the first book? She just decided to hand over herself 100% to Blake because she loved him and she didn't like the distance between them? Not to mention that his mind games and complete manipulation reminded me of emotional and mental abuse instead of a 'healthy' D/s relationship.

I felt like the author wanted to jump aboard the Christian/Gideon train and inserted BDSM and D/s relationships haphazardly. I think the book would have been so much better if she had focused on the strengthening the plot without weakening and taking away some of Erica's strongest most endearing personality traits.

Needless to say I wouldn't be continuing with the series.

I have been a HUGE fan of the Hacker Series since Day one...but didn't know what to expect from Hardline after the intensity of Hardpressed....Let me just say WOW!!!! Meredith starts off with a BAM and she throws things at you you aren't expecting through out the book.

Blake ad Erica are closer than ever and their relationship has turned into something so beautiful and strong it could make you cry. Erica, being the strong willed, independent heroine she is, has always had trust problems, but she gives over so much trust to Blake and its great to see how their relationship evolves. They face all their personal and work obstacles together which just brings them closer.

Of course expect quite the cliffhanger which will definitely leave you craving more of the next in the AMAZING Hacker Series!!!! Book Hangover ALREADY!!!

Meredith I don't know how you do it....you get better with each one!!!!

4.5 Oh Mr. Blake Stars

Hardline is the fourth book in the Hacker series. You must read the books in order.

With each book I read in this series, I feel like Blake and Erica relationship become more develop. I’m pulled deeper into the relationship and I kind of become a part of the characters.

I love this series. It’s witty, a little suspenseful and very addictive.

Hardline starts where Hardpressed left off. Blake and Erica are still working on the relationship, but there are a lot of external factors that come to play. Erica and Blake love each other, but both still have issues. Blake still wants control and Erica is still cautious.

Both are slowing working on the issues, I would say one more than the other, but regardless it’s going in a positive direction.

And I love it.

There had been only lust between us then, but lust had turned to obsession and somewhere in that wild blur, I had fallen in love with him.

Blake is still an investor in Erica’s company and he still has issues with James. Blake knows James has feelings for Erica and Blake doesn’t like James being so close to her. Erica wants Blake to back off some when it comes to her company, but she also loves Blake fiercely and she works hard to balance the two.

I completely love Blake. He’s so possessive, controlling and controlling and domineering. Did I say controlling? Yes he is VERY controlling and it’s crazy hot.

I wanted him to understand my resistance, maybe even let it slide. Even when he went all Dom on me, sometimes he’d give me room to push back.

Blake makes it very clear to Erica that she’s with him and he doesn’t want any man to stand in the way. Erica tries very hard to deal with Blake’s controlling behavior and it makes the steamy scenes, really really really good.

What I love most about the Blake and Erica dynamic is the intensity of the relationship. Blake is a very intense character. He knows what he wants and he knows what works for him and he doesn’t want to compromise at all. I found it all very alluring. He pushes Erica a lot, in and out of the bedroom and believe me those pages were the best to read. It will make you blush. Erica still has issues with Sophia so there’s tension there too. It’s a nice tension.

I wanted to worship him, to serve him. I wanted to be everything for him, even in these dark moments when nothing made sense but the demands of our flesh.

You also have Max. I enjoyed reading the Max and Blake feud. Both want to outsmart each other and it kind of throws Erica into the middle of it. Which, causes Blake to go really protective and really sexy. Erica becomes a little stress, but works really hard to keep her emotions in check.

I enjoyed Hardline a lot because so many things happened and I liked the problems from the previous books carried over. I felt the transition from book to book was perfect and I loved all the tension I was reading. Every time you thought something was done, bam anything problem pops up. It’s a crazy ride and there was never a dull moment.

I also love the characters. I love reading books where it’s just about the Hero and Heroine and well if you throw in a Dom as a Hero, I’m all over that. I felt that even though Blake and Erica have issues, they love each other still. That was never a question and it just really sets the relationship. And it made the book just great.

I can’t breathe without you, baby. You undo me and then put me back together whole again. You take it all, and you still love me for it.

…the truth that would haunt me to the day I died if he ever left me. God forbid, he’d ruin me forever.

10++++ Blake is absolutely DIVINE and I need more stars for this one... Oh my Goodness...

I will not start with my usual warning for this series. As if you've gotten to book three already I am going to hope that you are not one of those people who know you hate this sub-genre and are deciding to read it anyway.

I don't even know where to begin with this one. I truly enjoyed the first two books. Some of the twists and turns and how fierce and outspoken Erica can be always kept me coming back for more. The heat and the passion between these two never disappoints... and the love and devotion between these two is just magical. With that said I felt all of that and on an entirely new level in this book.

Meredith never loses sight of who these two individuals are throughout these books. In this book you still see the stubborn and strong minded feisty elements of Erica that you got in book one & two. She worked to submit and really let Blake in-in this book. That did not come easy to her at all. She had to intentionally decide and fight sometimes her own usual way of being and need to do it on her own to allow that to happen. Erica has a propensity for making decisions based on a need to "prove herself" or because she thinks it would make her weak to ask for help. Pride, is definitely something that she continues to have difficulty with overcoming. Often times when she gets herself into difficult situations it is not because she is not bright or that she is incapable of making the best decision it's because she is so guarded and has been hurt so much in her life that she doesn't even see the other options available to her. She doesn't always see how something can be beneficial to her or helpful to her through her desire to want to do everything herself.

Blake was a wonder to behold. He has always been passionate yet sensitive and open about what he is feeling but he took that to another level. He put his foot down with Erica and at times I was not sure what was going to happen. She struggled to see that by giving herself to him she was also gaining his devotion and life in return. No matter how much he loved and adored her he was willing to risk losing her so that their relationship could move into a place that would reflect what they both needed. There is a point in this book about 38% in or so that gets very intense and the conflicting emotions were almost overwhelming for me the reader. It felt so real and palpable - what they were going through, the hurt, the pain, the push and pull, and the need for more - that it jumped off of the pages at times. Some are not going to like this particular scene but if you read it in its entirety and really apply it to these two characters you cannot doubt the awesomeness of what Meredith did here.

I could honestly sit here and read this all over again. Thankfully, I can see the need for a book 4 & 5 and it doesn't feel like an over extension of these characters and this world that Meredith has so masterfully developed. I don't think I could manage to put into words how this book made me feel and the depth of emotion that it drew out of me.

Meredith...

I give Hardline 3 just not impressed stars. It is obvious she's trying to draw this series into more than three books and that makes for less pages and more crap thrown in to try to have the story span the five books she desires. A co-worker said this book heated up and, to a degree, I suppose it did but everything is just thrown all over the place and doesn't work for me.

The only reason this book was even finished is because I forced myself to finish it hoping to see a coming of day. I was highly disappointed by it and it gets 3 stars because I genuinely like Blake Landon. It seems like the heroine is floundering around trying to find her voice, that's how Meredith Wild's writing makes her sound, and it gets tiresome on top of annoying. It feels like everything but Blake is just kind of thrown together with no guidance or thought as to how the ultimate turning point and ending are both going to come by.

There's hot sex scenes with submission, BDSM elements, and sweet words of love which can be appreciated with how they were written. There's just too much noise in this series for me between how the plot is structured and the constant moving characters. I wanted to like this series because it could be something more akin to the Crossfire Series by Sylvia Day rather than the garbage series by E.L. James. This series just doesn't work for me and even not having all four for free doesn't make me want to read the fourth book. I gave the first three books my time and just continued to be disappointed and I've thrown in the towel. It might work for some but it just doesn't for me and it kind of sucks because I've seen so many people scream the kind of praise for this book I do for Pepper Winters, Tracy Wolff, and Jodi Ellen Malpas.

I need to remember not to binge read one series - it rarely ends with my unfettered reading joy. Instead I'm usually grinding my teeth at all of the little writing tics that irritate me and noticing the repetition.

This is the third in this series, book 3 on day 3 so I've definitely binged and, sadly, I wasn't quite feeling this one. I was skimming sex scenes because I wasn't feeling the chemistry. They were getting kinky again too, but personally I rarely enjoy wading through detailed descriptions of cuffs and ropes and ice cubes melting...blah, so that didn't add anything to their chemistry for me either.

The other thing that bugged me was Blake's ultimatum. He insists she submits totally to her in everything and kind of sulks until she gives him her reply. Boy was I pissed with Erica' s reaction to that, but the biggest problem was that it dulled my investment in their relationship and I wasn't that convinced I wanted them together anymore; that sort of control is creepy not sexy. And I feel a bit disappointed at the changes Erika is willing to make to hold onto her man. Somewhere along the line the independent, feisty and driven woman became a doormat.

That said though, this wasn't all bad at all. There's some drama and intrigue and plenty of sweet moments. I'm even quite interested in her business and the office dynamics, it all feels real and vibrant.

It ends on a cliffhanger and I want to know how that turns out but I'm going to take a break before reading on in the hope it refreshes my reading palette.

This third book in the series had a bit more action, but the plot was all over the place. There is love, passion, sensuality, betrayal, crime, forgiveness and ... a mess.

What I liked was what she is going through professionally. I am going through something similar and I can totally relate to it and handling it in a similar way, but on my own. No boyfriend is going to mingle in my 'business' and no hacking.

I'm disliking Blake more and more... not because he's dominant, but because he's a manipulator. He does whatever it takes to get what he wants. He has double standards too and he scares me.
Erica is not the strong person the author wants us to believe she is. First I don't understand why all men fall for her. Second after all she has been through she is incredibly naive when it comes to men. Third she is in doubt all the time. Blake is totally taking over her life and she lets him.... and I don't understand why. No one is worth that for any reason.

What annoyed me most of all was the end that is no end. It's like the book stopped somewhere in the middle. I didn't see that one coming and I didn't like it.

It can feel the love that these two have for each other and the challenges that they have to go through for their relationship to survive.
“You're the only one who can bring me through this, because I've never trusted someone the way I trust you. I love you so much it hurts sometimes. You have to believe me, that you're the only one who can heal me, Blake.”

Blake demands more and tests the boundaries of Erica's commitment, forcing her to choose between her stubborn independence and the man she loves.
“ I want control, Erica. But I'm not going to take it from you. You have to give it to me. you opened the door. Now you have to walk through it. You've tried to draw this hard line between us, with work and our relationship, where you keep the amount of control you think you need. It ends now.”

There are still so many twist and turns. It's starting to tire me out. I need the brake of this series. I believe that this series would have been better if it would have been only 3 books. But I will definitely read next book in the future.

Now that Blake has Erica back he's determined to keep her safe, danger always finds Erica. Blake has demanded all control inside the bedroom and outside the bedroom this control includes her business also. Erica is determined to keep that one thing to herself, the only thing she can control herself, however even that is getting away from her. Because the threat of losing Blake Erica decides to relinquish all control because she could not breath without the one man she loves more than anything. An ex employee of Erica's decide to give the one person arch enemy number one, Max Pope all the information about her company. So when she sees Blake at a conference she spills the one secret that Erica never wanted Blake to find out. Now their perfect life is threaten because of a kiss.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the Hacker series so far. Each new instalment brings a different twist that in turn has left me more and more bewildered of which characters to trust and what will happen next. I have no idea how poor Erica has not yet suffered a nervous breakdown. Her life is like the biggest rollercoaster imaginable with more ups and downs than I've ever known and with this latest instalment in the series, Erica's strength and resilience continued to be pushed to the absolute limit.

Erica and Blake's relationship continues with very much of the same as before. I'm sure that by the end of this series, the couple would have faced every test you could think of. As the story progresses, I do feel that Erica is finally learning to trust Blake and is slowly beginning to give him the control that he needs, both in and out of the bedroom. Erica has so far made so many bad decisions, I felt that maybe it would be best if she could share her many problems and listen to his advice.
"You let everything go, and it feels good, doesn't it? To know I'm taking care of you, of us. That no matter what, I'll get us there."

Finally I could see that Erica and Blake were getting stronger as a couple and I hoped that a happy ending would be in sight, but then something else happened that threw a major spanner in the story, but for the first time ever it was Blake that I was concerned about. At this point in the story I began to seriously worry for Erica and Blake's future. I saw a completely new side to Blake that left me feeling uneasy with what he was doing. I couldn't believe what was happening and how Blake had changed so dramatically. I really didn't like this new side to him and I was a little scared for Erika. What had happened to the sweet man that I had fallen for?
No longer my sweet romantic lover, the man in front of me was the ruthless billionaire that wouldn't be crossed.

This series continues to pull me in and keep me fascinated throughout. I truly cannot predict what will happen next for Erica and Blake as the story takes so many different directions. It has been a gripping read so far and I can't wait to move on to the next book.

"Hardline" gets ❤️❤️❤️❤️ from me.

Doamne! Bine a zis, cine a zis că boala lungă e moarte sigură. Esti a mea. Sunt a ta...bla, bla, bla, nu stiu e prea mult. Prea gol și fără nimic de transmis.
Personajele au trei volume la activ, dar sunt zero evolutie... La fel de plate, șterse și fără personalitate.
Mă mănâncă să spun mai mult, dar sunt spoilere și poate totuși dorește cineva să citească această capodoperă, așa că mă abțin. Cu greu. Cererea in căsătorie a fost de vis. Foarte romantică. Mi-a plăcut mult.

HEA:

Was glad after the angst in the last book that there were no more separations, BUT there was ultimatums made by both Erica and Blake for their relationship to go forward. I still didn't find that part too angsty. It was things that they needed to work through to move forward. There are still secrets to Blake's past and "the club" that are finally starting to come forward.

As much as I heard about Sophia being a huge part of this book, their being A LOT of OW drama and the hero's past, I find that I really don't have a problem with any of it. The thing is, Blake is completely obsessed with Erica. He was from the moment he met her, so I know for sure he didn't even think of visiting that club from the moment he met her. And he was a busy businessman, so we don't even actually know how often he even frequented that "club" over the years since his breakup with Sophia. So I really can't hold it against him. I am getting a little ahead of myself here because even the CLUB is mentioned only briefly in this book, it is talked about more in the 4th book.

Basically, Sophia visits his office to confront him about pulling his funding and Erica overhears her mention something about mentioned "the club" to Erica and he just shoots her down and asks her to leave. Erica of course questions Blake and in this book he doesn't want to discuss it because it's not a part of his life anymore and he doesn't want it a part of her life either because none of that matters.

Anyways, I'll stop here and go review the next book LOL!

This was the biggest disappointment existing. The author is an idiot for pulling the shit she did. Definitely not continuing it. What happened to the savy fiesty and INDEPENDENT business woman that as all know and love!???? SHES GONE 100% IN THIS BOOK!

She completely hands over her life to Blake and let's him have control over EVERYTHING including her BUSINESS! WTF!?
And I hate the poor portrayal of BDSM! It looks like the author did absolutely no research! And I hate how Erica also did not mark the lines in the bedroom. She handed over too much control and Blake is a mastermind manipulator. I mean the author did not ease Erica into the world of BDSM. She dived head in- right into whipping and crawling and getting Tied down with her legs and arms stretched out. It was awful. I'm no prude but the author did not at all ease Erica in. It was too hasty. The whole damn thing.

Not To mentioned Blake practically black mailed her into giving up every aspect of control. It pisses me off. She should've thrown the engagement ring in his face like any normal sane person would've! That would've shown him! That's the kind of girl Erica WAS! Not this ultimate submissive or well slave is more appropriate to Blake's every demand.

Such a disappointment. I wish I could rate this book lower than one star. I was a huge fan of this series in the beginning. And also WTF IS THIS AUTHOR THINKING OF MAKING 5 EFFING BOOKS!? Sylvia Day and Meredith Wild make E.L. James look like a saint for writing only a trilogy. BUT NOOOO stupid Meredith and Sylvia probably want more money and are writing 5 BOOKS!?

So. Stupid. I can't take this bull shit. Writing 3 books itself is risky with a plot like this. A plot like this should only be 1 book. Maximum 2. But 5!??? SCREW THIS CRAP! I'm sooooo done. So done with books like this. It's like every romance book has a stupid trend of ruining the romance, characters and plot by dragging it on to more than one book. ONE BOOK IS PERFECT! JUST WRITE DIFFERENT NOVELS IF U WANT MORE MONEY OR HELL JUST WRITE SPIN OFFS!

Well damn. I have to wait about 2 weeks for the fourth book and i'm about to piss my pants in anticipation (yes, people can pee when they are excited). That cliffhanger has got to bet the best one yet in my opinion even though I smelled shit before it happened.

So basically here's the non spoiler recap below :)

All is nice and lovey in the life of Blake and Erica which Blake sweetens up in this book which made me go..

Then it came to this giant ultimatum like thing which had me going..

All this other shit happens which made me loath Max more, lack pity for that bitch Risa, and just waiting for the fourth book like....

Until next time folks!

I am so sorry for this, because I really began to love thia series, but after a certain scene from this book my dislike for Blake was imense and I couldn’t continue it. I am sorry, but i cannot accept the way Erica was treated and the demands he had for her. Furthermore, I couldn’t accept the way she gave herself to him, forgot about her pride..so no, no, no... :) Blake dissapointed me so much :)

This book has me convinced. I could never be submissive. Ok somewhat of a spoiler, so they have this fight about a guy she kissed... Just kissed... While they were broken up, mind you... And he goes all nuclear crazy on her. Grabs her by the arm at a work function, makes her leave so he can confront/berate her. Once they are in their room, He made her strip naked, get on all fours, crawl and he hit her with his belt. Just to punish her over something she did while they were broken up. And really it was the guy who kissed her. Ummm. Hell nah. The whole time I was reading that chapter I was like... I could never do it. This is abuse and this guy has got issues. And I read a lot of these kind of books and I usually love them.. But this one. Nope. I guess it's one thing to be a sexual submissive... But the whole, dominating the heroines whole life. Getting mad and using the submission/spanking/hitting as punishment.. Not my cup of tea. For that reason alone I gave 3 stars. It was no longer hot and sexy and more.. This guy needs therapy and this girl needs to run.
Seeing this is the third book and the author left it open for even more, I think I may give up on the series. This book was so tiny... I feel like the author is just dragging it out and all the story lines she left open are pretty predictable or I just don't care anymore. Pretty much disappointed. :/

Meredith Wild has done it again. all the emotion you would expect from this power couple is there. I laughed, cried (on more than one occasion), cringed, got mad. The writing as always was beautiful. The development of the character is wonderful. I feel like there are my friends, I know them and I'm reading their story. Seeing our favorite hero finally reveal Who he is is wonderful. Seeing Blake take control like that is beyond hot. And not to mention the sex scenes! Whoa baby! Not only were they steamy and sexy and downright the hottest thing I've read lately, but the roughness and tenderness together was compelling. I didn't expect the story to go where it did but I'm glad it did and I can't wait for the rest!!

Spoiler?

I don't know why the book has so many good reviews. The "relationship" shown here is unhealthy and toxic. A once tough business woman completely subordinates herself to a man, so that he does not leave her. No relationship should be like this!
