Despite somehow managing to dive headfirst into book three of a series like a woman confidently boarding the wrong train and hoping for the best, I actually had a brilliant time with Hell Bound.
As someone who hadn’t read the first two books, I was expecting to spend half the novel utterly baffled, clutching at character names and relationships like a pensioner trying to understand TikTok. Surprisingly, that wasn’t the case. While I’m sure I missed some deeper connections and emotional callbacks, the story was easy enough to follow, and I quickly became invested in Cairo and Isa.
Now, as a certified dark romance enthusiast, I do enjoy my fictional men a bit morally questionable and my plots served with a side of trauma and chaos. Cairo absolutely delivered on the protective, ride-or-die energy without tipping too far into eye-roll territory. And Isa’s journey really tugged at my heartstrings. Watching her navigate a life controlled by powerful, dangerous men while slowly finding her strength was incredibly satisfying.
The chemistry between these two was fantastic. Plenty of tension, plenty of angst, and enough emotional punches to keep me thoroughly entertained. There were moments that had me grinning like an idiot and others where I wanted to throw hands on Isa’s behalf.
My only reason for not giving it five stars is that I could definitely tell there was history I’d missed by not reading the earlier books. Some character dynamics and references would probably have hit harder if I’d started at the beginning. That’s entirely a me problem rather than a book problem, mind you.
Overall, Hell Bound is an emotional, addictive dark romance packed with danger, family drama, found family vibes, and a hero who would happily burn the world down for his girl. Even as a series newcomer, I was hooked, and it’s definitely convinced me to go back and read the first two books.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Just perhaps be more organised than I was and start with book one.

The third in the Hell Raiser’s MC series, this is the story of Isabella, the eldest daughter who is placed into a questionable arraigned marriage by her cold father, and Cairo, the Sergeant-at-arms for the Hell Raiser’s MC with a dark past. This is a he falls first, touch her and die, protector story where a HEA is hard fought for by all. An emotional rollercoaster, the flashbacks to Cairo’s past are heartbreaking, and truly set up a complicated character who grows throughout the book. I love the found family of the Hell Raiser’s and how “perfect” Isa finds her place in the imperfect. I was lucky to receive an eARC in return for an honest review, and can’t wait to check out S. Frances’s others books in this series.

I fell in love with the hell raisers in the first 2 books and I was sooooo ready to dive into Cairos story!
I’ve always found myself intrigued by Cairo and this book did not disappoint! The flashbacks 😭
The final book in the series completed it perfectly! The way the stories all entwined was pure perfection.
My favourite quotes:

- If it’s hell you think you’re destined for, then they better make room for me. Because wherever you go, Cairo Colton, I will follow.
- She already knows I’d die for her. Breath in my lungs is overrated anyway.

Loved these characters so much! After recently discovering and reading all three, this has to be my absolute favourite! Isabella & Cairo have my heart. The protective vibes and his love - Perfection!
It was also (though painful) good to see some flashbacks to get a better idea of Cairo’s past, I think this is what gave me that deeper connection with the characters. What a ride! 🙌🏻
